I did baby signing with ds when he was about 10 months old. He liked the songs and I still do them sometimes.

This weeks gone so fast I can't believe it's fri already. Dont think we've got many plans for the weekend, got to see FIL at some point and go to the dump (v glam!) and go shopping.

Iheartpasties · 21/09/2012 08:37

I have got my waterproof mattress protector, I just need to wash it and dry it and get it on the bed. That way if my waters go at night, the mattress is safe!! It was a life saver last time, I had the baby on the bed and it was unplanned so at least when I got home it meant the mattress was ok :)

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 21/09/2012 09:11

I'm in Devon too Lilliana and Evil.

Not been invited to AN classes this time. Went to the NHS one last time, DH was working so I went on my own, and everyone else there had their very keen DP so felt like a bit of a loner! It was all very basic, but did include a tour of the hospital which was the part I wanted. Was very very well looked after when DD was born, so very happy to be going back there (although will still want to get out as quickly as possible)!

ValiumQueen · 21/09/2012 09:22

Thank you for the link pass unfortunately my iPad does not allow adobe for some reason, and our desk top is caught up in the relocation of the nursery.

Thechick · 21/09/2012 09:24

I'm se London. Used to live in east London but that's as far as I've lived. I'm 31+ 5 and haven't got anything for baby or for hospital bag apart from a bath and a going home outfit and a changing mat. Will do all of that stuff with dh online so it's delivered when I'm on maternity at 36 weeks.
I'm not sure if we are doing classes, this is my second child but there's a 13 yr gap. I filled out the form but haven't heard anything, but dh will be coming, he wouldnt miss them. He's very excited about everything. He tells me stuff about the pregnancy.

Iheartpasties · 21/09/2012 09:24

I havent been offered ante natal classes this time, I guess they are aimed at first timers.

DesperateHousewife21 · 21/09/2012 09:36

I said I didn't want them this time (didn't have them last time ds was born the day before I was due to have a 4 hour session) and the mw wrote 'refused AN classes' Hmm

Iheartpasties · 21/09/2012 09:40

oh and I had stitches and a catheter, yuck I hated it.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 21/09/2012 09:43

I'm in Berkshire but will be moving to Co Down in Northern Ireland within the year. Bit nervous, big change.

MissMummy1 · 21/09/2012 09:47

Where in Co Down Sophia? My inlaws are in Donaghadee and Bangor. We were all set to move over there had DH not got permanent work in Scotland (up until now all his boaty work has been seasonal).

StuntNun · 21/09/2012 09:51

Sophia you'll be near me, I'm in Antrim so just the next county up! We all think Down is frightfully posh. I lived in St Andrews, Fife for eight years though so I'm feeling homesick hearing all the Scots lassies.

DH is going to Japan tomorrow so I spent all last night trying to be very quiet as it's a hellish time zone change for him. But I'll make up for it next week when he's away and I'm sprawled out in the middle of a king-size bed all by myself with all my pillows AND all his pillows .

Dixie online Scrabble!? I think I may have a new addiction coming on...

Morning everyone. I stay ten mins outside Glasgow. Funny to see there are so many of us up this way.

Don't have much to say. My SPD is much worse, as expected, and we now have a wheelchair from red cross as crutches are very tiring and slow! Feel a wee bit silly in it but it's better than the mobility scooter that shopmobility offered. I tried it and went about a metre before saying no to it. I felt like everyone walking past would be sniggering at the 'lazy pregnant woman'.

My friend is picking me up for lunch today which will be nice, there are 3 of us going and MIL has DD so it'll be nice to chat without interruption!

Got another line off GP which covers the annual leave I'm meant to be on. Called work and manager was so blunt and non caring, just said so we won't see you back, em nope cos I was meant to be on leave from 1st Sep anyway so would have been off anyways! Didn't even ask how I was!

My friend has organised a baby shower for me, it's normally work that arrange it but I guess cos I'm off they're not bothering. This way is nicer I think as its actual friends coming and not just colleagues. Only thing is work one people tend to bring small gifts which is lovely but they do this as they don't buy after baby is here. With my friends it's difficult, a few have asked do they bring gifts. I didn't know what to say?! Why ask me, why not text the organiser!? It'll be lovely just to have everyone in the same place :-)

Wow I've rambled on a bit!

Iheartpasties · 21/09/2012 10:10

We took dd down to the beach this afternoon dh got off work early and she ended up going in the sea! That was the first time this season!! Can't wait for it to warm a little bit more and then I can go in the sea too :)

Iheartpasties · 21/09/2012 10:43

aw izzybuzzy cross posts, sorry your spd is worse. ((hugs))

Dixiebell · 21/09/2012 10:51

stunt, yes actually the scrabble app on iPhone. Useful for whiling away hours and staying awake!

Btw I had an epidural with ds, but was still mobile through most if it and able to go to loo, until they pumped it right up when I got whisked to theatre. Then they put in cathetar. Didn't have csec in end, and catheter fell out while I was pushing, they didn't bother replacing it. I had stitches too but was able to go to loo fine straight after.

Cacacaz · 21/09/2012 10:58

Another Scot here Grin I'm in Ayrshire, a little village, about 5 miles from Ayr.

Horsey sorry to hear about the couple from your class, that is so sad.

Re discussion about classes, I thoroughly recommend baby massage I will be teaching dh to do it, as it is wonderful for bonding. If anyone wants to find classes locally have a look at the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM). I also recommend a book on infant massage that is written by the founder of the association, Vimila McClure. If anyone wants more information feel free to ask away!

I'm off work today and Monday Grin do only have 9 days left at work before I begin my maternity leave Grin

I missed my yoga/birth education class last night due to flooding in and around our local area. I planned to attempt to go, hubby wasn't very keen on the idea. In hindsight I'm glad I didn't go as most roads were closed by the police.

Izzy I think it was you who recommended the spectra breastpump? Ours arrived yesterday Grin from amazon.

WaitingForMe · 21/09/2012 11:18

I had the weirdest dream last night. I was a cartoon penguin collecting coloured letters (big ones of the foam kind kids have in the bath) and learning to surf. Beats the nightmares I suppose Hmm

I've been rubbish with work lately. All of my clients are being lovely but there's a horrible sense of panic despite clearing yesterday's to-do list. I did my accounts this morning and I'm paranoid I'm making mistakes despite it not really mattering (I'll check everything before it goes to the accountant and he checks everything - oh and this is 2012/2013 stuff, the accountant already has everything for my 2011/2012 tax return).

OCD and pregnancy do not seem to be mixing very well Sad

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 21/09/2012 11:23

Yep cacacaz twas me. I loved mine so much, pumping = extra sleep for mummy!

Iheartpasties · 21/09/2012 11:51

Oh yeah izzybuzzy ? that breast pump has been ordered for me, and will be posted out to me! I got my mum onto it!

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 21/09/2012 12:19

Have three weeks left at work after this week. Am booked on a course in London when I will be 36+5, and three days from my mat leave kicking in, and our training team just called me to check I wasnt being bullied into a trip to London when I will be that pregnant. No, am just a geek that actively wants to go on this course!

Also finding it strange that am seriously tying up as many loose ends as possible and making arrangements for handover of files etc. Likewise Waiting, clients are being lovely, but all the preparation for me not being here makes me feel like I am being slowly erased... Naturally I would prefer to believe that the world stops turning when I am not here, but it is apparent that all will in fact continue much the same way.

Appraisal season is looming and I am normally the sort that cannot give constructive criticism at all about colleagues when asked. However, over the last year, a colleague has really really pissed me off. He doesnt like me, but has taken in the last year to treating me as non-existant. Works in a different office, but the last 4 times I went to that office he literally blanked me as I spent the day working opposite him, ignores emails, and then organised an event with a client and didnt invite me, despite the fact or because I get on with that client very well and get a decent amount of work from them. This year I am not going to hold back, and if anyone remarks on the fact it is a departure from the usual tactic of saying something nice or nothing at all, I shall know that the pregnancy hormones and rage have enabled me to man up at last and say something. although I will write and re-write and check and double-check my email about a million times first.

As far as I know lane81 you have a bucket with a lid, you scrape off poo and flush it down your toilet and bung the nappy in the bucket and keep it all dry, they call it dry pailing I think. You leave all the nappies as they are until its time to wash them all. But hopefully someone with more knowledge will come along and explain :)

Sophiathesnowfairy · 21/09/2012 13:02

stunt missmummy we will be in Annalong halfway between Kilkeel and Newcastle. DH is from there so we are building on his parents farm. I am excited to be living inbetween the mountains and the sea, but nervous about the big change in lifestyle, giving up working for a bit and just a whole new culture. Even though I love being there and get loads of support from his family.

I am 33+2 and am really feeling that there has been a big change with the sudden onset of Braxton Hicks, the baby dropping and the urge I have to pack labour bags and get ready. Does anyone else feel like that?

daisychain76 · 21/09/2012 13:03

Cacacaz l am an infant massage instructor too ( tho don?t get round to doing it very often) and trained with the Iaim.

Lane l think you ccan use any pail that contains the smell. You can ?dry pail? and stick a bit of cotton wool with some tea tree oil on in it. l?m going to keep mine next to my washing machine.

Fingers crossed my blood pressure stays stable today, then they?ll let me have 2 hours at home Smile

ValiumQueen · 21/09/2012 13:08

Gosh dixie pushed the catheter out? Shocked and impressed! Also impressed you went to the loo after. I could not feel my legs for hours and did not go to loo until the next morning, and that was bad enough! Respect to you Grin
