  • honeymum hope your neck of the woods not flooded?
SpottyTeacakes · 25/09/2012 09:35

I've got a really dry itchy scalp, anyone else? Should I just get some head and shoulders? Confused

PrunellaDeVille · 25/09/2012 09:36

Welcome flumpy stats list here

Flumpy2012 · 25/09/2012 09:47

Thank you!

Spotty - dry itchy skin is v common in pregnancy, not sure if this includes scalp.

Does anyone else have fears of incontinence post birth? x

HoneyMum21 · 25/09/2012 10:02

Thanks clarella - we're on flood warning and waiting to hearing we have to evacuate. Moved pram upstairs which was the big worry!

brooke89 · 25/09/2012 10:04

Hellooo flumpy Smile welcome and hope things get sorted for you!

I'm another organised one. We have everything apart from the curtains now! Mattress arrived this morning - £90 down to £45 on one of the bounty offers!

Just got back from physio and pelvis is tilted which explains the horrendous backache. I have been banned from hoovering horraaaay!

Flumpy2012 · 25/09/2012 10:09

Oh no poor honeymum, all you need! I hope everything is ok.

Ah I haven't decorated nursery as likely to move soon after she's born due to house contract ending. But absolutely everything else. She has soooo many clothes which were mostly donated. Least I'll be able to let the washing build up after she's here! X

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 25/09/2012 10:29

Welcome flumpy and mama

Whoever asked about belly buttons mine never popped with the others and hasn't so far with this one. It does become shallower as the pregnancy progresses but no popping here.

honey I hope you don't have to be evacuated, stress you don't need.

I am another organised one. I have everything we could possibly need although most has been donated. I'm looking for fabric to cover a donated bouncy chair, and make curtains. But I these aren't strictly necessary. If baby is a girl we will need to source girls clothes but I have plenty of neutral newborn stuff so it doesn't need to be immediate. I feel much calmer when everything's done! (with dd my hospital bag was packed and by the front door at 20 weeks Hmm)

Well mums just finishing off the purple on the rainbow and then we're done. It'll just be a case of returning the furniture which is currently blocking half of dd's room! Lol

I'm currently laying in bed because the school run knackered me this morning! Wish I had some lung capacity!

PrunellaDeVille · 25/09/2012 10:56

Popped belly button here, constantly fluctuates between flat and out and has done since about wk 24 (now wk 30). Anyone else's skin gone green all around their belly button - sometimes verging on blue?

looking forward to seeing this masterpiece stacey

emilyeggs · 25/09/2012 10:57

Haven't really thought about incontinence post birth but that's probably due to the fact that this is my first baby and am totally ignorant as to what to expect Hmm. I'm still up from 2:30 this morning but at least the accountant has gone now so I can have a little cat nap crack on with the work he has left me
. Hope nobody gets flooded!

Flumpy2012 · 25/09/2012 12:08

I think I've watched too much embarrassing bodies and listened to too many horror stories. Pelvic floor exercises and I'm sure we'll be fine!

Is anyone planning home births? x

Mummycox · 25/09/2012 12:13

Waiting for anti d injection....

Equimum · 25/09/2012 13:05

hey, I hope people are okay with me jumping back in. Have been lurking Blush but not posted anything for ages!

Welcome to everyone who's joined since I disappeared.

Flumpy we're hoping to have a home birth if all goes to plan. Are you?

Wish we were as organised as some of you lot, but we are making progress. Finally ordered cot and pushchair at the weekend and have ordered bulk pack of nappies and change equipment this morning. Still need to get bedding and more clothes, as well as a few other bits.

Can I just ask, how much clothes are people buying and in what sizes? My mum had three babies all over 8lb10 and the 20 week scan suggested our LO might be on the larger side, so I'm reluctant to buy lots of things that only fit upto 9lb-something is it might grow out of it all really quickly. We've got 10 vests, 8 sleepsuits, a couple of cardis, a pramsuits and accessories - do you think that's enough to start with? i.e we can go and buy more if necessary, but will thatget us through the first couple of weeks (obviously, I'm planning to do laundry!).

SpottyTeacakes · 25/09/2012 13:12

I think that's fine Equimum it only takes half an hour to pop to Sainsburys for another pack of vests and sleepsuits if need be. Any that way you know they'll fit rather than having a whole wardrobe of things that never get worn!

kate2boysandabump · 25/09/2012 13:17

Welcome Flumpy and welcome back mama

Honey Hope you get to stay put and everything is OK.

Brooke Hooray for a hoover ban!! You should also iron sitting down, if at all!

I waited an hour for my 28 week blood test this morning Angry but on the plus side I did get lots of knitting done. I've finished a blanket and I'm nearly done with a pair of bootees.

No popped belly button here either, but like Stacey, I didn't with the other 2 so I'm not expecting it to go this time either. It is very shallow though.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 25/09/2012 13:21

equimum in newborn we only have about 8 vests and 9 sleep suits, and a few cardis. No need for clothes when they're tiny! (and if you don't have enough you just pop out (or send dp) to get some more!

kate2boysandabump · 25/09/2012 13:21

Equimum My previous 2 were both nearly 10lbs, so I'm not buying any newborn stuff at all. I'm not getting loads in, people tend to buy clothes as gifts and the shops will be open after the baby is born, when you have a better idea of size.

If anyone is buying, there's 25% off clothes at Sainsbury's this week.

Flumpy2012 · 25/09/2012 13:24

I have tonnes of stuff right from tiny to 6 months, all washed and ready to go.

I don't have any children but I'm a qualified nanny and in that experience there really isn't much needed in the early weeks and it's an excuse to get out of the house for a mini adventure after a week or so if you need more, the only pain is washing everything first. What age do you think you need to do that until? Obviously certain new things always need to be washed.

The cushions of the bf chair went in the bath to be scrubbed this weekend and are all clean, but seriously who makes a bf chair where the covers don't come off??

Anti D injection doesn't sound fun. I'm like a pin cushion from all the canulas from hospital admissions, hoping we manage to stay out for a while now although being is bed has so far made me purchase new boots, a book and I'm still browsing. Bored stiff but at least the heartburn has stopped.

No home birth for us sadly, we have to deliver at the city hospital - infuriating when perfectly good maternity ward 2 miles down the road but we're high risk and in the grand scheme of things I'll be happy to be wherever she's safest and will pray I don't deliver her in the hours journey there!! x

Walnut8 · 25/09/2012 13:43

Welcome the newcomers. I can't keep track with everyone on this thread, I'm so sorry!

Flumpy, you sound so brave and doing such a good job with everything you are facing! I hope your LO can hold on, even for another month or so.

Equimum, we thought our DD would be big (my mum also had three big babies) but she turned out to be very long and skinny and we had to send my parents out to get a couple of packs of newborn-sized sleepsuits and vests. I havent organised anything yet. Cot, buggy, change table, moses basket all still in boxes in the shed. I have no idea where the bedding itself has gone for the moses or buggy mattress. I really need to pick up a few packets of sleepsuits and vests too for newborn and up to 3 months as DD ruined/wore out all but a handful of hers.

I see my doctor tomorrow for my 28 week appointment. Results of the GTT, eek. I also weighed myself this morning and am completely freaked out. I've put on 6 kilos since my 24 week appointment?! I think my bump this time around is the size right now that it was at 34+ weeks with DD, I'm not kidding.

Must do more pelvic floor ex!!

MaMaPo · 25/09/2012 15:13

Feeling smug today as I got my flu vaccination. A bit of an achy arm but worth it. Of course, some 'expert' at work looked surprised and said 'I didn't think you could have the jab?' so someone else pointed out the bit on the form that said 'it is even more important to get vaccinated when you're pregnant.' very happy they give it out free at work.

I have so much to learn about in terms of baby clothes sizing. I'm Australian and we have baby sizes in 000, 00, 0, etc - are things sized that way here? Need to actually walk into a shop and look at things.

Clarella · 25/09/2012 15:16

Forgive me started this at 10 this am ....

la la la incontinence la la la.....

Bloody rain.

On way to mw was steeling myself - Despite a 'history' anxiety/depression (admittedly always a mixture of when my thyroid flops mixed with demands of job which is essentially what's happened this time) my utterly non-plussed mw has no interest or concern, asked the 'feelings of hopelessness' q as if reading the shipping forecast at 8 wks when all was kind of ok. No blink at the psych referral in the front of my notes either. So I always do a preggo stepford wife routine with a fixed smile. However am still in shock about the completely different attitude from a different mw today, spent ages going over thyroid stuff (looking at results in detail, even printing off for notes!) and slapped cheek stuff (she felt still get last test even though I know hospital say not bother) and seemed more concerned about it all than me! Sorted out all my notes - no stickers on anything apparently, told me how babe lying, still measuring fine then spent a while chatting about the kids I teach as I was leaving so I sat down again. Between her and the consultant last weds a lot of faith restored!

HoneyMum21 · 25/09/2012 15:30

Yay clarella - that sounds like a much more positive experience. Can you continue seeing that mw?

We had a fantastic stand in while normal one was on holiday last week ad really wish we could keep her!

Mummycox · 25/09/2012 15:30

Anti d didn't hurt... Was fine.
