Vivee74 · 21/09/2012 18:28

Hope everyone is looking forward to a great weekend. Have a birthday party tonight then sleep in tomorrow!!!!

Congrats to Eric on team blue.

We use kiddi vouchers at work. Thanks for the tip about using them while on maternity leave. Spoke to a girl going on maternity leave today who was also meant to finish up. She's getting some maternity leave, so hopefully I will too. Good news.

Otherwise Stressful week here. Finally told my mum last Thursday. Tears disappointment anger etc as I am not married. My dad apparently didn't speak for 6 hours. I've not spoken to them since and my brother is the go between... Really sad as they were excited about my brothers kids, but he was married.. But I am 38 going on 39, have been with my partner for seven years, have an education and career and am by comparison financially Independent. I'm not 16 and need supporting. Just hope that one day they will be happy for me....

tiddleypompom · 21/09/2012 18:28

Another one marking place - also to say thanks for sympathy on sleep training DS. To answer someone's question (sorry not to namecheck) he slept through from around 5 months but the latest bout of teething had me cuddling him to sleep - which he has decided is The Way Forward. About 3 x per night. Anyway, after one night of training he has slept through for two in a row. Weird. I shall keep you informed.

Will be thinking of you jojo on Wed.

Team blue has started - YAY for the gender-checkers. I shall be in yellow (boo) but cheering you all on enthusiastically. DH and I agreed names for each gender yesterday eve so I am now officially happy either way though boys name is better :)

Sorry not to comment on all recent activity (except special mention hello to sheldon, hope you are feeling happier) but am not finding the time to write much now DS has dropped morning nap!

Baby tiddley is wriggling away still & can't wait till 20 wk scan on 7th Oct, not least as we'll be going straight to our holidays in north wales after the scan...

mandasand · 21/09/2012 18:57

Vivee I am officially cross on your behalf. That's really, really silly of your parents. As you say, if you were a teenager with no footing in life yet then they could reasonably be anxious for you, but your life sounds sorted! It must be so upsetting?but I hope you can put it to one side and not let it spoil things for your too much. It's now their job to make up for their bad reaction and I hope that soon they will see (perhaps with help from your brother) that they've been out of order. Tears, anger?! In no way justified. And if they are privately disappointed then they should manage that better and talk about it between themselves not use it as the well-spring for their first reaction. I really feel for you. (But I'll shut up now - me going on isn't going to help!)

Hurray for still-wriggling baby Tiddley.

Enjoy crochet Zoey and clothes-sorting Sarah.

Thanks, Tramp - it was just dehydration! I always forget to drink when the temperature drops. D'oh. Felt much better this afternoon, ta!

So, earlier I caved and phoned the 24-hour emergency pregnancy unit at the hospital as I've been worried about this increasing pressure-type feeling on my cervix. It's like physical pressure + the kind of cervix-soreness you get during a heavy period. They said it's probably fine, but if I have any blood, water, or proper cramping to call back asap. They were so nice. Must try not to bother them with every small twinge.

Nepalese curry about to be delivered - I am SO hungry that I got three veggie sides!

OodHousekeeping · 21/09/2012 19:36

tiddley we are yellow too! I don't like to find out.

JoJoBella84 · 21/09/2012 20:24

I'm hoping to be team pink as I have four nephews but for now I'm team yellow!!
I hope everyone is okay now, vivee I can't believe your parents have acted this way!! Like you say, you're not a teenager in need of support or money! I'm
Sure they'll adjust soon enough though !!

zoeymlucas · 21/09/2012 20:33

Really sorry about ur parents reaction vivee and I hope they come round soon and support you as they should- regardless of age/ job / marriage status your there daughter and this there grandchild so (in my opinion) should be happy and support you no matter! I was 18 when I fell with DS1 sand his dad had left and I was soooo scared of telling parents (and mums strictly catholic family) I was angry when they didn't go mad, lol! My dad even built an extension so me and DS1 had a room each and our own front room for privacy, as he never wanted us to move out- cant predict families I suppose!

I am waiting for my DH to come home so I can kick him in the shins!!!!!! He went to his sisters tonight and I decided to just come home and chill after work, stopped and bought myself treats and a microwave meal. Went to microwave and he had stored something in a bowl in- I don't even want to know what it once was! It was vulgar, I put the whole thing and plate in a plate bin back and straight out into bin and was then sick all over myself and floor luckily was wooden not happy as I then had to clean that as well as well as bleach the microwave, put meal in fridge as didn't really fancy it after that!!!!!!

Sheldonella · 21/09/2012 20:40

Glad you finally got your op appointment JoJo it must be a relief.

Thanks for that manda I'll have a look at that site. That is one yummy sounding takeaway too. Glad hospital thought you were ok.

Happy birthday for tomorrow sarah and how sweet about the cake :)

Eric Congrats on the boy! I'm hoping to find out next Sunday, can't wait.

Vivee Sorry to hear about your parents reaction, have they done anything like this before? Is your brother supportive? I hope they come round soon.

Well I've really cheered up this afternoon. I don't get why I have these irrational anxiety attacks really but they have happened as far back as I can remember. Something nice happened though - I found out one of my colleagues is pregnant too and we spent an hour talking about it in the kitchen at work, comparing symptoms. That is 3 of us at work now.

Very much need some rest this weekend. I have loads more furniture moving and clearing to do but I must take it easy as my back hurts.

Sheldonella · 21/09/2012 21:09

Oh zoey that sounds unpleasant. Get him to cook you something nice.

I've just ordered a denim skirt from Boden. This is the first time I've ordered from them so no idea what it will be like. 6 week wait too.

backwardpossom · 21/09/2012 21:54

I think I'm feeling movements. No wait, I'm sure it's movements. I've felt wee flutterings before now, but I wasn't convinced it wasn't wind. I'm sure this isn't wind! How exciting! Grin

DJH80 · 21/09/2012 21:57

Hello all... I hope you don't mind me joining you? I've been lurking for ages but haven't said anything as a) have never used a message board before and b) worry that I won't have anything interesting to say!

However, during the last couple of months all of your posts have really made me smile and feel reassured about lots of pregnancy stuff so I feel it is only right that I actually contribute to the discussion.

This will be my first child. I'm due on 3rd March and had my 16 week midwife appointment this week. Hearing the baby's heart beat was one of the most heart warming experiences I have ever had.

I think I'm having a relatively "normal" pregnancy although have had a reoccuring migraine for the last 10 days (!!!) which I'm trying to manage with paracetamol without much luck.

It's been good to read all the maternity clothes tips as my body seems to be growing at a rapid pace and I'm going to go shopping this weekend to get some clothes that actually fit.

Just a question, does anyone have any experience of hypno-birthing? One of my friends tried it recently and said she spent most of her labour imagining she was sun bathing on the beach. It was relatively pain free. That sounds appealing to me but at £75 a session I'd like to see if anyone else has tried it first.

zoeymlucas · 21/09/2012 22:04

Woo hoo how exciting for you backward how many weeks are you?

Welcome DJH the more the merrier and glad you decided o join ths chatty lot!!!! Glad you pregnancy is going well and joe you can shift that migrane, tablets don't work for me I need to sleep them off! Sorry no hypno birthing experience here and as it DC 3 and another c section its not something I have looked at. However for that money a Time I think i would rather save it and actually go to beach, lol!

backwardpossom · 21/09/2012 22:11

16 weeks today!

Welcome DJH

zoeymlucas · 21/09/2012 22:16

Cool just checking as been having some bubbling in there but still don't feel like proper movement and getting impatient now Hmm so hoping it will hurry then as am 15+2!

Still no mrsrigby on here, hope she is ok, missing her humour!!!

JoJoBella84 · 21/09/2012 22:20

I was wondering about mrsr?
I've not had a single flutter yet and I'll be 19 weeks on Sunday. I hope I start soon!!

Em2010 · 21/09/2012 22:23

Just another quick place marker from me!

manda Nepalese curry sounds amazing! I've never had one but I think I could eat several about now! (Despite having eaten my own dinner about 4 hours ago....)

djh welcome!

eric congratulations on your ds!! Am I right in thinking that you have 2 dds already? Lots of blue on this thread! My next scan is 17 October, in terrified they will find something wrong but excited to find out the sex!

Chefette · 21/09/2012 22:41

Oh my giddy aunt, have just about caught up!? I think? No proper name checking am sorry but special hello to Shel, I really feel due you, I had a melt down yesterday morning about missing my Mum dreadfully (2.5 years since she died) and just wanting my Mum for a hug Sad and the other family members so far away.......

Jojo, what a bloody farcical time you have been put through, also my sympathy with you, you've got huge Support here from the Marchers!!

Child care vouchers my work does also, didn't know or think you could bank during mat leave though, that's interesting, nursery fees in our neck of the wood is around 35 per day plus the extra bits n bobs. Think the city (Aberdeen!) is more. Golly only knows what we'll end up doing, our main aim was to get preggers first (we assumed it would take alot longer than it did Blush) and decide along the way!? Probs nursery but DP will do drop off and pick up too, given I'll likely be full time and have a long commute, and he works mostly locally. Haven't discussed it in detail but there may be scope for him to cut down a day per week, as in local government, we're ignoring the minor worry that his contract could not be renewed in march.......Confused.

Been eBay-ing for mat clothes, and got some nice things, although no need for them yet.

Eric we are due date buds! I was also approx 5th march moved to 28th Feb post last scan! My next scan is anomaly one on 17th Oct. been given date of 11th oct for me and DP to attend "parenting" evening at the MWLU not sure what it'll entail?!

DP told DSS mum today about McGuez, it went down fine, she said she had supposed it was only a matter of time, then said casually that DSS hates babies?! Hmm

We have been up to our oxters in house project work, DP's built a super garden fence (think reinforced Fort Knox) and levelled garden and laid turf, is planning the deck, and 4 tons of slate chippings been ordered! I've been prepping walls for painting, emptying units, packing away detritus to get furniture moved.

Spending ALOT of time with kitchen design folk, joiner, internet, catalogues and pen paper calculator and getting rather stressed with trying to make it all fit and it's so flaming expensive argggggghhhhh!! Can't wait til it's all done and we can sit by candle light admiring it all as we eat our (cold) beans on toast (as that's all we'll be able to afford by then!) Wink

Seems MIL getting more excited and offers of help for doing super clean post workmen, and baby stuff from SIL that's in the attic are flooding in, so that's nice. And, although dad doesn't directly mention McGuez he had texted me on a couple occasions to say take it easy and look after myself when doing the work the last few days!

Can't remember who mentioned it, but relaxation and hypnotherapy (sorry if not right term I can't look back through posts when typing as on as on phone) sounds interesting, as I would love ways to combat potential upcoming stress, my work for example will be hellish with day to day stuff over the next few months, without trying to cram in an IT project I just got wind of before the mat leave!

Prob have missed out heaps of folk, stories and info, sorry not snubbing anyone, you all just post so much, I've lost the plot!

Hope you are all keeping well, my sleep patterns crazy, and dreams freaky!

Oh and as for gender scan stuff, well I'm in yellow team but would rather know if B or G, but am not allowed as DP has banned me from finding out Sad

Happy and healthy weekend to one and all x

theTramp · 21/09/2012 22:44

Vivee - Im so sorry to hear that your parents reacted that way. They should respect your life choices and be excited to meet their grandchild. I hope it's shock and that they'll realise their mistake and call to tell you they're excited.

I'm in bed with two purring cats. Lovely tea cooked by MrM - only problem being I could've eaten double. Am presently resisting temptation to go and make myself toasted sarnies.

Chefette · 21/09/2012 22:45

Aw, and nobody said they'd missed me....................Sad

Grin

True tho, no rigby, last I remember was just post mrs perfick's party? Hmm

OP posts:
theTramp · 21/09/2012 23:02

Chef - you're back!!!!

Seriously though, how goes it chuck?

Chefette · 21/09/2012 23:29

Hey Tramp, am nae bad as they say up here, had week off to do house stuff and organise tradesmen, takes forever to set things up!

Bumpy (aka Ginger McGuez) is sore today, lower abdomen is tender, and achy-feels like wind maybe? I don't know, maybe growing pains, but does feel like my uterus is very heavy indeed, is that just what being preggers feels like? (17+1 wks)

In other news, am thinking about potential Xmas and festive season meals and menus, is that weird?!

OP posts:
ThreeForTea · 22/09/2012 00:41

Happy Birthday Sarah hope you have a great day celebrating (and the cake turns out ok!)

Hey Chefette good to see you! I was wondering about your posting because your name is obviously at the top of every page, so its like you're here watching over us all the time... but better to have you back for real of course Grin House stuff sounds great, your DP sounds just like mine with all the renovation and building, not your Mil though - she sounds helpful and kind! Glad pregnancy is going well though.

Hi DJH80 (after a flight number?? :) ) Let me know what you find out about hypnobirthing, i'm really interested in finding out more about it. My friend who also had a vbac used it and said it was amazing. She did a course for £150 which is actually cheaper than NCT. When i get a mo i'll link to her birth story which is online but I can't think where right now.

I'm glad you have a baby buddy at work shel thats really nice. There is a girl in my office expecting in dec, also with her 2nd, also after a loss so its good to have someone who totally gets how i'm feeling and who can share good birth stories with me! Maybe can make the next few months more bearable?

zoey :( :( thats not so nice. Hope you're feeling less sick and managed to eat something this eve. I was sick a few weeks ago when i'd been away and dh had left a bottle in dd's cot curdling. I didn't even open it, was just the sight of it that did it!

backward that would be about right on target right? how exciting!

manda how is the pressure feeling now? Is it something thats come up on your other twin threads at all as a common symptom? Also from yesterday; seriously don't think its madness at all, you're looking at everything so carefully I think that all being well you are going to be a very fullfilled lady. And seriously most of the women I know who love their jobs totally find a way to make it work and really enjoy it. When i went back off of mat leave when dd was six months it was seriously like I found myself again. I am really hoping that i can find a viable childcare option for when i'm ready to go back to work because I still feel quite ambitious despite the obstacles. I think that someone to look after the little ones is totally the difference though. Its the nicest thing in the world to imerse yourself in something you love and feel yourself (give or take the leaky boobs!) while knowing that lo is being loved and looked after with more gusto than you might manage if you had to do it by yourself 24/7!

tiddley our dd is being awful sleeping again at the moment, I think its because she's got a cold that i gave her so probably serves me right What was the thing that you think has made the difference for your ds for the last couple of nights?

vivee :( for your parents reaction. Is it something that they are generally like when it comes to differences between your brother and you or is it that they are old fashioned? Really hope they get a grip or they could really miss out.

Another Feb girl Eric! well as long as you lot aren't too baby smug while we're still waddling around whinging into our Easter egg wrappers!

Tramp approve of the emotional unloading advice, and great quote. I'm sure i know a few people who could produce a few rocks! haha.

Rainbow I love painting ceramics, I find it the most relaxing thing ever and they also make great gifts. I have a friend who has just started to sell the stuff he makes. You sound very creative!

A step closer to it being over jojo Really hope you only encounter competant staff from now on or you should definatly move. On Mcare jeans, I had some under bump ones 2 years ago, I really didn't like them very much though. There was too much sag in the arse back and thats never flattering. My best ones at the moment are H&M ones. I've never really liked their jeans before but their mat range is most importantly In the Shops and available to be tried on. I really wish Zara did maternity because they are my usual jeanmongers. Never mind.

Do you mean off his back while he's wearing it Sundae because thats not very kind Grin Sounds like a plan though, and i love the whole concept of 'coatigan'

Glad you've had a good holiday Ethel hope you get/got back up ok.

ThreeForTea · 22/09/2012 00:51

Had to post as laptop was threatening to crash and couldn't bear to loose epic post! Was just going to say hi to anyone have missed but probably see you in the morning :)

I summoned the energy to go to a friend's baby shower this evening. Was really nice. Her tummy is funny, literally looks like she has a football up her top, no weight whatsoever anywhere else. Her pg is especially nice as she had a mc about a year and bit ago, but she was someone who really helped me through mine in feb, even though she was early pg herself so it can't have been easy for her.

So happy its the weekend!

JoJoBella84 · 22/09/2012 07:22

three I have high hopes for weds. When the consultant called me with the date he said he'd chosen weds because he would be in the hospital to keep an eye on me, as would the gynae team he's been liasing with so everyone I see should know the case and be prepared for it!! Kinda more reassured now. Though still sprightly poohing my pants at the thought of something going wrong!! He did say that I'd be monitored closely for 3 days in hospital and that the first 24 hours were most vital for baby post surgery - I'm hoping I'll be too spaced out to worry too much!

The h&m maternity section in Aberdeen really isn't very good at all, it's kind of like walking into a sports soccer - like a huge jumble sale of stock with no order to it, you have to search through rails of stuff to find a pair of trousers!
I'm off to mcare to try on a few pairs as I'll need something that won't press on my op scar too much do am thinking over the bump and maybe roll them down?! I'm heading into town this afty too do I'll try mamas and papas too!!
Do John Lewis do a maternity section?!

Funnylittleturkishdelight · 22/09/2012 07:32

Good luck Shell! Now you have a date etc you have something to focus on.

Vivvee that is shockingly awful! Only they lose out though- they're the idiots.

Manda I had the EXACT same feeling! Midwife was also very reassuring and I feel much better now- she said it was just movement and totally normal.

OodHousekeeping · 22/09/2012 08:11
