Ooh big day tired!

I'm 7+3 and we bought the Doppler from amazon. Was £20. I'm happy to lend it to someone? If you want I'll post it wherever?

His birthday is also our third wedding anniversary, so we're meeting my pil for lunch abducted then spending the rest of the day just us three

mandasand · 11/09/2012 11:43

An abducted lunch Frying?! (hehe!) £20 for a doppler! I heard they were a hundred or two - wow! Mind you I think I'll resist. Twin-on-the-Left is really difficult to get a peep out of - think he/she is tucked around the back a bit, and the placenta is in the way - so I'd only make myself worry with one!

Hope this morning went well Tired. I remember when DS started reception last year it seemed such a big thing, this year I could barely wait to get him back to school!!

Congratulations frying on your anniversary and hope your shared birthday/anniversary plans are fun and carefree! OH and I have stopped celebrating occasions (birthdays, Valentine's day, anniversaries, new years eve etc) because for some reason we always fall out! Hopefully you'll have more success at celebrating than we do! Grin

I am currently enjoying pregnancy sickness around 11-11.30 daily which is great. Hopefully it will have subsided by the time I get back to teaching in October.

Having an early scan tomorrow and I'm really nervous that something will be wrong. Even though I know the likelihood is that everything will be fine, especially because I have been getting pregnancy symptoms. I do feel pregnant. Not sure how to stop the worrying. All advice gratefully received!

Going to edit two chapters now. After writing chapter 1 of my thesis I found a chapter I had already written months ago on the exact same topic! At least I have a lot of work to show my supervisors.

Hope you all have a good day Smile.

WingDefence · 11/09/2012 12:01

Afternoon all! Guinea I am Envy at your early scan but I'm sure it'll all be fine. :)

I have my first scan on Friday morning and I'm trying not to think about it. I haven't let myself really truly believe that I'm pg until I see that everything is fine. And I just cannot wait to tell people - it was really difficult finding something to wear that didn't make me look pg for church on Sunday!

Tired hope your DS went in okay this morning. I've just started looking at the application procedure for DS's application for next year! The first open days start soon which I'm really looking forward to.

That's why the timing of MiniWing (God willing it all goes well) is great as I'll be able to take 9 months off and see DS settled into his first year at school before I go back to work in Jan.

Just got to stop being nervous about it all - bring on all our scans!

tiredteddy · 11/09/2012 17:18

Well DS2's first morning in school couldn't have been worse. He cried nearly all the way there then ran out the classroom twice. I was shocked I thought he might fuss a bit but nothing like that. They had half the class in but not including his best friend which really bothered him. I just felt really frustrated as the teacher didn't communicate with me at all about what she wanted me to do with him and her or the TA both just left him crying on me and didn't try at all to coax him or distract him. Of course I ended up in tears too as I was so scared he was going to run out if I left. Not a good start at all. Sad

WingDefence · 11/09/2012 17:23

Blimey Tired I'm really angry about the teacher and TA. We're there other children that needed help or were they just ignoring the situation?

At early years childcare (nursery, preschool) whenever my DS or I've seen another child be upset at the start of the day, the staff have always been amazing to try to distract them while the parent leaves.

I know that being a teacher is a different kettle of fish but for the child's first day they should be hyper-sensitive to these sort of things. Angry

tiredteddy · 11/09/2012 17:31

I know wing I just felt shocked that there was no offer of help. I was a reception teacher myself for 5 years, this is my ds1 school and the same teacher he had (not TA) as well. It was very odd. No one got on his level I really felt ignored. No one else was upset, think that made me feel worse, the other children were all playing or whatever happily so they had no one else to deal with. So strange. It was quite out of character for ds2 to be that bad. I was just left feeling that it was up to me to get him in. Not looking forward to thursday. His eyes are still red and puffy now he was so upset.

mandasand · 11/09/2012 19:09

Oh tired that's awful. Poor boy. And poor you. I know nothing about kids but do you think you could have a wee chat with him to try to get to the bottom of what is frightening him most - is it the other kids he doesn't know, is it you not being there, or the fact his friend isn't there? - especially if, as you say, it's out of character for him. Teacher doesn't seem to have been very helpful so far, but could you perhaps go in early tomorrow and ask her if she has ten minutes to spare during a break or after school to have a little word with your poor terrified boy, telling him how she taught his big brother and is looking forward to having him in the class, and perhaps explaining about some of the stuff she will be doing with him? I don't know if that kind of thing is possible, but it sounds like you may have to ask for the extra support. Poor chap! Let us know how it goes.

16 weeks today no sign of a bump yet! Scan on Saturday and midwife on the 20th

tiredteddy · 11/09/2012 19:51

Thanks manda some good ideas. Next time he's in is thurs and his friend will be there. I think I'll pop round yo reception tomorrow after school and ask what she recommends/ would like me to do the next morning. Thanks x

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 11/09/2012 20:16

Gosh Tired that sounds awful. How distressing for you both. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it gets better (are you a Christian? - I forget who goes to church on this thread! Anyhow, if it's ok with you I'll pray for you both tonight, that you have a better time on Thursday).

Manda - well everybody really - my friend has just rung to say there's a one off special of One Born Every Minute tonight about twins and triplets. 9pm on Channel 4. Thought it might be of interest?

tiredteddy · 11/09/2012 20:42

Thanks so much guinea that is lovely of you x

mandasand · 11/09/2012 23:17

Tired that sounds like a really good plan. Good luck! It can only get better and the day will come v. soon when he's racing off before you can give him a kiss goodbye! Let us know how you get on.

Guinea thanks! We just spotted the OBEM on multiples just in time! I was a bit more heartbreaking than we were hoping for, but I guess the more difficult pregnancies make for better (i.e. more compelling) telly. Very interesting tho. Made DH sit through it all too, hehe!

Just had my early scan and there's a baby with a lovely strong heartbeat. I'm so pleased and amazingly relieved. I'm measuring 6+4 so at least I know what my dates actually are now. This is in line with what I was thinking because of my later OV.

WingDefence · 12/09/2012 12:24

Oh Guinea that's fab :)

I'm getting more and more nervous about Friday's scan. I keep thinking what if they find a MMC or there is something else wrong. I really won't be able to believe it is all actually happening until I see the little thing on the screen and they tell me it's all okay. In fact, I'm actually not sure I'll even be able to look until they say it's fine. :(

I think I just can't get my hopes up IYKWIM?

In other news, it's chucking down here. Not forecast at all and it was lovely yesterday! Angry

tiredteddy · 12/09/2012 12:32

Great news guinea just over 5 weeks for the next scan now!

wing I know exactly how you feel and felt the same. Until you've seen baby on screen and know everything is ok it's really hard to believe it. I'm sure everything will be fine for you and I'm looking forward to hearing your scan update on Friday!

fryingpantoface · 12/09/2012 16:54

Yey guinea!

Wing I totally understand. My scan is 19 Oct so I'll be 13 weeks. It's 5 weeks on Friday. I can't wait

somethingwittynot · 12/09/2012 19:05

Really sick today was meant to go to the house of commons but couldn't go!

mandasand · 12/09/2012 21:41

Hurray for your scan, Guinea! Really happy for you! Yay!

Hey Wing! Now, not too much panicking about Friday. The chances are enormously in favour of everything being just fine. Try not to worry. Just one more day to get through and then you'll see your baby.

All is good here. Really got my appetite back now and bump is really firming up. Me and the other ladies on the March thread have set up a secret FB group to share pics and no-one can get over the size of my twin-bump at 15 weeks! Heehee, I love my bump Smile

OP posts:
ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 12/09/2012 23:09

Manda I'm loving the secret th group! That's brilliant. Hurray for bumps!

Wing just to echo what has already been said It's highly likely all will be well. That being said I was a nervous wreck today so I know how you feel. Praying for good health for baby and peace for you.

Something I'm sorry you've been so sick.I've been ill too today but didn't have house of commons to go to! Hope it passes soon. How many weeks are you?

Just had a fab pampered chef show so I'm a bit wired now but suppose I should try and get some sleep. I know I'll be shattered in the morning! Night all.

mandasand · 13/09/2012 07:00

Tired just to say I hope today goes better with taking DS2 to school Smile

Guinea Glad you had a good PC show!

Have just seen DH off to work with his lunch and I'm sneaking in an extra half an hour now with R4, yay!

OP posts:
WingDefence · 13/09/2012 08:02

Tired - echoing what Manda said about your DS and the school drop off today. Have a word with the teacher or TA if they are useless again? Hopefully he'll be absolutely fine though.

Thanks for all your kind words about tomorrow. Thanks I am trying to stay calm about it! Manda that's a lovely way of thinking about it - one more day till (please God!) I see my baby. Ooh that gets me a bit excited Grin

Right, better stop lounging in bed and must get up for some breakfast. Porridge I think...

WingDefence · 13/09/2012 08:04

Oh and well done on the PC show Guinea and that us such a shame about your House of Commons trip Something :( Was it nausea sickness you had?
