Starting my NCT classes next month...

Hi everyone,

DH and me are expecting our first little one on December 2nd and decided to do the NCT classes rather than the NHS ones.

So what do you think they'll be like? I don't have any friends or relatives with children so I'd really like to make some new 'propper' friends iykwim (as in not people you only chat to for a while and then drift apart).

What are your experiences of NCT? How do the classes run? Do you think it would be best to hold back and see how the classes go, or do you jump right in and start making friends and meeting up etc fairly soon?

TIA

I think the classes are different for everyone. I still meet with all of the girls from my classes for DS1 and that was 4 years ago. We had the classes quite close to having the babies (I was admitted to hosp just 30 mins after our last class!). During the classes we just chatted but on the last day the leader gave us each a sheet of everyone's contact details.

I think you have to consciously arrange that first meet up and it just goes from there. It was easier once everyone was on maternity leave. Hope you enjoy them and meet some like minded people!

Hello Lozza,

I'd really like to have something like you describe, meeting new people and staying friends as your children grow older.

Will see what happens... Smile
