Sheld snap for mustard but is better than the deep red that was was there before, actually mine be more of zesty yellow

Great news em, my dd1 was due on 04/03

My previous scans you just gave a donation not sure about this new unit though

So who is getting scans tomorrow with me? I couldn't sleep last night, I don't know if it was excitment at being 12 weeks today or picking up on dd1s excitment for her first proper timetable day

mrsR agree with everyone else Mrs perfect is probably not as perfect as you think!

ThreeForTea · 03/09/2012 11:54

Congratulations Em, what a great feeling it is! Good luck for other scanees today.

MrsR think Bree from Desperate Housewives, you never know what's going on!

Having a nice day so far here, dh is home and dd is here for what feels like the first time in ages, though really isn't! Lovely and sunny here, going to take dd to play at a friends later.

Went to docs this morning and it seems I have a uti which is what led to a re-decline over the weekend, so hoping that when anti b's kick in I really will be on the road to recovery and fingers xx that I will be able to return to work on Friday :)

ThreeForTea · 03/09/2012 12:00

tiddley really love the idea of the gossip chain test btw! might have to try.

ted a body held together with sellotape and glue?? can you expand? might come in useful some day! and also, how did you find out? ;)

dameflamingo · 03/09/2012 12:01

Hello all

Em we share a due date! very exciting.

Ted your description of the perfect mother to cheer MrsR up made me smile - I know a few people held together wilth sellotape who the World sees as 'perfect'.

Tiddley I cannot believe that there is a charge for finding out the sex of your child during a scan that is already happening - and that it differs so much between hospital locations - who is running the NHS sonography section? Ryan air? next they'll be charging a supplement for having twins which could prove costly for manda : - )

Sheldon and Gummi My DH wanted a bright mustard coloured kitchen - there were several discussions on this subject. Mind you when we first moved in it was 1980's junior school boys toilet blue... urgh.

My HG is back with a vengence and teh tablets aren't holding it so feeling rather sorry for myself - sickness and general urgh has been joined this time by a belting headache. I threw up in my own fringe this morning so am spending the day at work looking like an extra from There's something about Mary... turns out its powerful stuff and would give shockwaves gel a run for its money so if ever I decide a mohawk is a look I fancuy I'll remember this!

Good luck to those who are getting scans this week- I shall look forwad to your reports.

ooh and one more thing, anyone got any idea where I can get a decent but not too expensive longer than knee length dress suitable for a gala dinner/wedding? it'll need to stretch as the dos are end September, end November and end of December respectively... thanks in advance for any advice you have! xx

Em2010 · 03/09/2012 12:32

Hi Everyone, Thanks for your good wishes! Am back at work now and can hear HoD shouting at someone through the party wall. Hmm, will distract myself with a proper catch up and hope she doesn?t come through and find me! (Dedicated employee here)

Stealth I live in a village just outside York. I love Harrogate and the surrounding areas, Valley Gardens is my favourite place to go and just walk and clear the head. Hope your DS enjoys his first day at school this week.

Manda I?m loving hearing your allotment updates. We used to have an allotment but couldn?t find the time for it with DS. I made do with growing vegetables in the garden last year, nothing this year because we moved house in the spring, but hopefully we might have some more home grown produce next year. Now time to stop moving heavy beds around! Although I?ve been lifting a heavy and squirmy toddler about quite a lot and it has caused some stabby/uncomfortable pains. I recognise them as ligament pains this time, not ideal but no harm to babies!

Pipsicles Glad you got your scan sorted and dh was able to go. I completely understand why you were so angry with him, it sounds much like something mine would do too if that?s any help. Good to hear that you both got to meet healthy baby in the end though.

Tramp DS and I tried your tuna and avocado recipe. Thank you! It was gorgeous!! Hope cats are coming to terms with their flap!

Jojo sorry to hear that you need surgery, although at least that will be end of you having to worry about your cyst. I?ve had one burst before and the pain was akin to childbirth, much better to get the whole thing removed. Good luck with the op!

Tiddly Hope your ds is sleeping better now, or at least you have got to the cause of it. It must be very hard, I am not good at the best of times when I have had to get up in the night. Also second the homeopathic remedies for teething pains. We just use the nelsons ones that you can get at the supermarket but they do seem to have a very calming effect. Baby friendly boltholes is a lovely website, would love to go if I could ever persuade dh to part with the cash/take the time off work.

Emus and everyone else with Insomnia! Hope the sleeplessness isn?t too bad. I found listening to radio 4 in the night (I?d never listened to it before) really relaxing when I was pregnant with ds and had terrible insomnia.

Possom and Cheffette sorry to hear that the ms has got you! Bad timing, just when it should be going away! Boo!

Pink Yay for another little boy!! Fab news.

KFF hope you have a wonderful time in Paris!

Ted hope you feel better soon.

Oodhousekeeping ooouch! Sorry to hear about your wasp encounter. Horrible things!!

zoey sorry to hear that you had such a shit week at work last week. Hope things look up for you this week. Good luck with the upcoming op! Glad to hear I?m not the only one impatient to find out the sex.

Right, sorry for the marathon post ladies. I?ll probably have another two pages to catch up on now I?ve finished writing this! Sorry for not mentioning everyone. My boss has finished shouting now so she?ll be through in a minute so I need to get busy!!

mandasand · 03/09/2012 12:34

Oh, I have just some excellent news through the post. Apparently, despite great age (37) my babies each have a 1/3000 risk of Downs, based on blood tests and nuchal scan. I really don't understand how this can be, since I read that at 35+ your risk is about 1/350 naturally. Maybe they buggered up my d.o.b.?! Can anyone shed any light? Anyway, I guess this is really positive news, so hurray!

It's £10 for three scan pics at our hospital. Except we were late, only had £20 note for the machine so ended up with two tokens and then she ended up giving us the pictures for free anyway! So now I have £20 in tokens which I'm sure I'll use up as I've got 6 more scans to go! (Two with dildo cam, Zoey!) I'm sure, as you say Dame, the twins factor will bite us hard at some point!

Oh Dame not a happy fringe moment! Poor thing?(but at least you're retaining your sense of humour!!)

Chefette · 03/09/2012 12:37

Congrats on bounce-age of bean Em!!!

Tiddley love the idea of telling one you distrust anyway and seeing how long it takes to get round office. I am in a dilemma about telling work, I work for a big company, 300 in office, nature of my job and length of time I've been here means I know most folk. Who do you tell first? Line manager? (he is a total total arse) HR? (they are the biggest gossips in the place). My nice colleagues? And when to do it? Gummi I am you scan buddy tomorrow, 3pm and I am kacking my pants to be honest, I too have been totally stressing about the genetic stuff (can't remember who posted about that). I am still assuming there is a bean in there in the first place!? SadSadSad I am on leave from work for week beginning 17th sept so think after that, and technically should be about 16weeks, no real bump here as carting about a fair podge anyway so folk'll just think I've been at the pies again Blush

rigby your kitchen sounds like mine, I don't even have doors on half my cupboards, so I feel for you! In the industry I work in there are a lot of people with "perfect lives" the flash cars, houses and trappings, but still doesn't disguise people's human frailties, or them just being arses-so hang in there!!!!

shel OMG I read that thread (am addicted to "active", as I like to try and read broadly Grin but yes, it's scary!!!!!!!!!!

So any advice re telling is welcome, I still have to figure out the best and sensitive way for my friend and work colleague to find out who had a still birth of her little girl a few months ago, I want her to be considered above my feelings.

Good luck to rest of 3rd September scanners, anyone else joining me and gummi??

mandasand · 03/09/2012 12:39

Em hello! Ahhh so our plan to get our two working down the lottie asap may be a little pie in the sky, would you say?! Veggies in garden is good - hopefully you can get some beans or something easy in next year! Reassuring to hear you too have been getting the stabby pains. Just a bit sore today, nothing to moan about, so am taking it as lesson learned! As long as my belly keeps growing and no blood I'll assume all is okay. (Still can't get in the wardrobes tho! But I can up with genius plan: DH can put upside-down wooden coasters on each leg and slide it along ? maybe?! I thought this was v. clever of me, especially as he's the engineer and I'm the humanities boffin!)

Chefette · 03/09/2012 12:39

Oh and sooooooopa news manda sorry I xposted!

mandasand · 03/09/2012 12:42

Hey Chefette! Very considerate of you to think of your friend-colleague's feelings. Could she be one of the first you tell, perhaps over a coffee, and give it a couple of days for the news to settle, before everyone starts congratulating / teasing you etc? I guess in your organisation I'd go for line manager then work group. Then HR (after which, from what you say, everyone will know!)

I just want to tell me boss but he's determinedly not getting in touch today, gah! Am on edge of seat with anxiety!

Em2010 · 03/09/2012 12:46

Righty, I've read a bit more now!

MrsR I feel your pain re Mrs Perfect. I too get very upset that our house does not look like I would like it too. Our sofa is old and has holes in it and the bedroom furniture does not match. It is usually a mess because my DH is a lazy so-and-so. Sometimes it feels like everyone else in the world has perfect houses. I am sure we are not alone though.

Body changes during pregnancy? I put on 4 1/2 stone when I was pregnant with ds (some of it caused by pre-eclampsia). I lost it all and more though running round after a toddler.

Sarah I also have the telling colleagues dilemma. In fact I hate telling anyone. Seems so many people I know have troubles conceiving etc that I'm really scared of upsetting anyone. Plus, I would put it on facebook but hardly any of my colleagues are on there anyway.

Dame! Due date buddy!! Sorry to hear about the fringe. The something about Mary look is much under rated in my opinion though.... Grin

Cheffette I think Rainbow wrote some good stuff regarding telling someone who has lost a baby on one of our previous threads. Worth scrolling back to find it if you have spare moment.

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 03/09/2012 12:51

Em, never been to Valley Gardens, but our friends who live near ilkley love it there. I go to harrogate quite a bit for meetings, but don't very often go socially, even though we live on that side of York. Will def have to make the effort.

Manda, have you got a strong neighbour you could ask for help?!

Chefette · 03/09/2012 12:56

Hi em yes rainbow did, her advice was for someone else to tell her I think and not hear it from me face to face so she didn't feel under pressure or obliged to be happy and say congrats ? Think I have marked that last thread do will have are-read thanks.

Seems like the chundering episode was a one off touch wood but have total sympathy with anyone who is suffering. I have no idea how I would do a full time job or have wee ones when feeling so sh*tty!!!!

pinkpeony4 · 03/09/2012 13:02

Em Congratulations on your scan - fab news!!! Grin Our hospital charged £3 for a photo & £7 for a DVD. We paid for 1 photo but the sonographer gave us 9!!

Body changes - I have gained 3 stone each time and lost it all really quickly afterwards. I think breastfeeding really helps. But I was back in my jeans after 2 weeks last time. I am already wider and wish I looked more obviously pregnant. I hate this inbetween period!

I hate telling people too. This time has been the worst, I think it's because so many people are very insensitive and make really rude comments about the all boy family. That is one of the reasons we wanted to find out early again so we can shut people up before we get the "are you hoping for a girl" questions. I have just told people when I see them and am hoping they tell others!

Chefette There is always someone you dread telling because of their previous bad luck. I actually told a close friend over email this time. She has had a lot of miscarriages since her dd was born. I had ds2 at the same time that she had her dd and this is my 2nd baby since then. I know email is very impersonal but I thought that it would give her a change to digest the news and get back to me when she was ready. She was really lovely.

Manda Congrats on fab blood results. Basically you get a stat based on your age and then they readjust it after your blood test & scan. Mine went from something like 1:400 (I am 35) to 1:5500

Dame poor you, that is grim! How did you manage to be sick in your fringe?!

Looking forward to hearing more scan news today

Em2010 · 03/09/2012 13:16

Manda and Pink congratulations on your good NT results.

Also, Manda I'm sure you will be able to carry on with your allotmenteering! We moved whilst we had ours and it was quite far from the new house, so with the new baby it just proved too much but once they are toddlers they will love 'helping' out (whether you love the help so much is another matter!)

Ethelred I'm just being nosy, so you don't have to answer, but do you live near the part of York beginning with P?

theTramp · 03/09/2012 13:35

Blimey busy morning... MrsR - have a cry then roll your sleeves up and get on with being an ace Mum and nurturing new bean into the world.

really pleased the tuna & avocado mix hit the spot!

Mand - I'm a few months behind you & similarly worried about all that can go wrong. Hoping bloods & scan will say all is well & then I can just stick my Tongue out.

Hurrah for happy scan news.

Telling colleagues.. Buy cake & when asked what you're celebrating say impending birth. Or just tell HR and boss and enjoy all the furtive looks from elsewhere as they all gossip about you.

Changing shape - I'd be shocked if having a kid didn't leave it's Mark. I'm just hoping it has a positive impact on pcos & all that tummy fat falls away.. A girl can dream :)

Lexiindisguise · 03/09/2012 13:37

sarah I told my team & a few chatty people at work and the news is slowly getting round!

theTramp · 03/09/2012 13:37

Oh yes nice evening do dresses - loads of links on the clothes thread over in pregnancy. I'd suggest Isabella Oliver, Tiffany Rose or Seraphim as starting points but there's loads to choose from.

Lexiindisguise · 03/09/2012 13:40

oh and congratulations for good scans and results!
manda my NT was the same - 1/520 based on age and 1/5400 adjusted - I think the blood test and the measurements multiplied by age are much more accurate than just age alone?

mandasand · 03/09/2012 13:42

Thanks for explaining, Pink, and glad you too got revised upwards! I was convinced it was an error as I was preparing myself to think 'well, even 1:50 is really good odds'. This is amazing.

Ethel, we have, but they went away for two weeks on Saturday!! On the other side is a bunch of random rental peeps who are a Big Nuisance (council aware too many adults and kids there for a multi-occupancy house, house reeks of skunk, man used to live in shed, am convinced they are a holding pen for stolen bikes, they had a cute puppy which has turned into quite a scarey dog, and - o joy - they had a rat infestation recently!) so we don't say more than hello (and hope that they won't be there forever!) All the others we know are pretty old. As we're on a main-ish road it always feels very busy and not much of a community, alas. Next door but one - who we don't know more than to say hello - had a baby this year so I'm hoping that will be a good playmate for ours in due course! Anyway, if the coaster-idea doesn't work we'll have to get a mate round!

Em, I hope so! I'd like to think that during maternity I can wander down with them and just sit around or do a bit of gentle weeding - good for them to be in fresh air etc. What the old blokes will think of double breastfeeding momma sat on a log with a thermos is another matter, and then if they start screaming ? ! There are some quite old-fashioned blokes on our lottie and parents with kids are sometimes given a hard time. But our two immediate neighbours who we see a lot of will be pretty cool, I think. FX!

mandasand · 03/09/2012 13:45

PS Tramp all us old-timers (sorry, ladies!) seem to be doing pretty well with the stats on here so far, so lady-luck seems to be shining on us Marchers!

Ta, Lexi! Cor, this is all good news!

Sheldonella · 03/09/2012 13:46

MY IO dress has arrived! Hooray! It smells a bit funny though, I assume it will wash out.
Gummi and dame My mustard kitchen it so weird it is hilarious. It has tiles with pictures of food and the fakest looking wood effect surfaces. Really good condition though so can't justify doing anything about it.
pink The comments about all boys must be really annoying. People can be so rude can't they. My aunt has 4 boys which was great fun when I was little, I loved going to their house.
manda That is great news indeed.
One of the senior managers called me into a meeting this morning and it turned out he had heard the news and just wanted to make sure I was ok and had everything I need. It was so nice, I'm lucky that work seem to be understanding. It has got round the rest of the office too and have had some nice chats with the ladies in other departments.
I have also started knitting for the baby - a little red cardigan with some wool I already had and then I bought some cream and green on my lunch break. Ooh this is all so exciting Grin

mandasand · 03/09/2012 13:54

Our kitchen tiles are orange-peach, the surfaces faux marble (=chipped laminate) and the cupboards musty and also a peach fake-wood colour. Not quite mustard but not quite lovely either! But I'm delighted to say it's all going before long! Ikea cheap-but-clean kitchen here we come!

zoeymlucas · 03/09/2012 13:59

HUGE congrats on the fab test results to everyone - glad to hear things are going well for everyone on here - think this is a lcuky thread heres hoping :)

Pink I havd 2 boys and people even wrote on my facebook they hope I get the girl this time etc - like I only had another child to get a pink one or something or I was disappointed with DS2 - it drives me nuts but have decided to ignore and enjoy being pregnant :)
Sheld where did you lear to knit I would love to make something for baby and with the weeks of bedrest that lay ahead it would be perfect do you think there is an online course, lol??

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 03/09/2012 14:04

Em, you mean the one that ends in 'ton'?!Grin Yes, but not in it. We are Just within the outer ring rd.
