I have a faint line as well - goes all the way up. I keep wishing it marked out a zip that I could just undo. Grin

I do have iron tablets, MissPolly, I've only been taking them every other day to avoid adverse effects on the digestive system (midwife's idea, as my iron was only a little bit low) but maybe I should be a bit more religious about remembering. Blush

In other news, I've been awake since 4 am, but I can't quite bring myself to eat any more biscuits. Sad Biscuit Bit of a crampy tummy, but fairly sure it is just annoying and not the start of anything exciting, hey ho. Worth going back to bed and poking DH until he stops snoring (it's 5.20 am now) or just curling up on the sofa?

Hi all,

All the talk of biscuits made me actually do some baking today which NEVER happens! I made some apple scones which are delicious. And that led on to a chilli for the freezer and packing my hospital bag too so am feeling very virtuous after being incredibly lazy for weeks

No linea negra for me but my belly button is really sore today, I think because it's on the last legs of being pushed out. Anyone else had this?

I very much approve of Gizzy's eviction methods and will be attempting them myself very soon!

Well done on the painting MissPolly, very impressed. I also use Radio 4 for insomnia, can't believe the shipping forecast didn't work though!

Pinpan Hope you're feeling a bit better.

Big congrats Mickey, love the name Eliza.

Thanks and Brew to everyone who's feeling a bit rubbish at the moment - seems like all of us at the moment. Baby is under my ribs which is incredibly uncomfortable, would really like it to engage but think that will be just as uncomfortable!

MakeTeaNotWar · 19/09/2012 20:52

YY to the sore and tender belly button ouch!

So not only am I feeling sh*t but DD is now burning a fever and is v crabby plus we started a loft conversion today (at 39 weeks, I know the timing is total maddness but funds and permissions suddenly came together) and the sodding builders have left us without any working lights! Something keeps going in the circuit board. The sockets are fine so we have lamps but between that and the sick toddler, labour and subsequent homebirth are most definitely cancelled for tonight.

Hope everyone is feeling better and I'm liberally sprinkling zzzzzz dust for us all tonight

Bear1984 · 19/09/2012 22:07

Sorry to see lots of you are struggling with sleep or feeling really crap. I'm another! I feel like there's no point in me climbing into bed til at least 2am at the earliest. MW told me I should sleep during the day which I do sometimes when DD is at school, but I don't want to get into that habit.

Loopy hope your last couple of weeks at work fly by and aren't too stressful! And thanks for the tip!

Beeble I do, it's faint though so not too noticeable.

pinpan · 20/09/2012 04:58

Sore belly button here too - and it has finally popped out! That means I am done. Grin Rather teary today which I hope means that hormones are getting a move on, and I am bouncing on my swiss ball lots in anticipation.

Hope you are all getting a better night's sleep tonight. If not, come and help me dither about initials on this thread here!

Wide awake again Sad.

Feeling a bit guilty as I went out for dinner last night and ate mussels knowing they are on the "slightly risky foods" list. Quite a few of them hadn't opened and I didn't eat those ones but it makes me wonder whether they were all properly cooked. Anyway, I imagine I'll know by tomorrow if they were off.

Beeble I have a linea negra running from my pelvic bone to the top of my ribs. The old wives tales suggest this means I'm having a boy. The presence or absence of a linea negra does not indicate gender but, if you have one, and it stops at your bellybutton, you're having a girl and if it continues above it, you're having a boy....or so they say but I've tested this theory on loads of people and the anecdotal evidence is very compelling.

Maketea hope baby holds tight until your DS is better and electricity is fixed although the ability to have nice dim lighting is one of the things that would draw me to a home birth but I'm sure you would have liked to have the choice.

Pinpan I was only taking about half the dose of my iron tablets for the first few weeks as I was sure they would play havoc with an already sluggish digestive system but I increased the dose with no adverse effects.

MissPollysTrolleyed · 20/09/2012 05:02

I'm off over there Pinpan. Also, just noticed that you have disproved my theory about the linea negra. So much for old wives tales Smile.

goodsenseofdirection · 20/09/2012 05:36

Morning all, bit too early for my liking!

Got woken up by DP leaving v early for a flight to marseille for the day and brain has helpfully started thinking about the electricians who annoyed me greatly yesterday, I won't bore you with it here

maketea I sympathise- we're actually staying at a friend's for a few days. Hope the conversion goes well and you don't get too stressed by it.

beeble I have a v light linea negra from my belly button upwards. Perhaps it'll be a boy?? We'll have to see on that one!

pinpan you are so industrious! Hope you're feeling less dizzy now- maybe time for another Biscuit

Day off today and Friday, just 4 more days at work next week!! Must try to sleep more to catch up zzzz...

LoopyLa · 20/09/2012 05:46

Morning goodsense/MissPolly and other early birds...

Brew? I'd offer round the hobnobs but Running ate them all Grin

I'm in awe of all the ladies trying to bring on labour, I must remember these tips for when I finish work! I like the raspberry leaf idea but hate any kind of tea that's not regular black! I know you can get capsules but can't seem to find any info on how many, on a daily basis, that you'd need to take - anyone know this?

I was so busy yesterday at work that I literally didn't have time to feel exhausted and crash...I'm pretty sure I won't be as lucky today! Confused

Hope everyone else is ok x

LoopyLa · 20/09/2012 05:51

Oh and to chuck out those old wives theories on pregnancy in general, I have no heartburn, no stretch marks and no sticky out belly button. Don't get me wrong, I do have other crappy pg symptoms - just none of the above.

I do have a faint linea though - is it just too early in the morning or am I confused by the theory? My friend had one from ribs to belly button and had a girl; does this disprove it? Hmm

And I can't seem to find the ring theory anywhere that doesn't contradict itself

pinpan · 20/09/2012 06:26

Goodsense, another biscuit is an excellent idea. Biscuit Gnom.

Thanks for the initials help, MissPolly. And yes, I am allegedly having a girl, and have linea negra all the way up, but who knows, I suppose they could have been wrong at the scans... I'll let you know! I've got a little group of six buddies here, I'm the last to pop, and they've ALL had boys, so there might be something in the water.

Am now passing the time stopping myself going insane waiting by quilting a baby quilt with flowers and bees on it.

Morning all. Is it too early for gin? DD has a friend here to play this morning. Over excited does not even begin to describe them.

Thumbwitch · 20/09/2012 10:08

No linea nigra here at 36+4. Didn't have one with DS either. Belly button is tender, looks very stretched and purple-bruisey for about 1.5" all around it but I don't think it's going to pop out (didn't last time). No stretch marks either (although I believe, on almost no evidence, that this is because I take fish oils daily - my mum and sister both had dreadful stretch marks so I really wanted to avoid them)

I'm taking raspberry leaf capsules that contain 1500mg of raspberry leaf - recommendations are 1-2 daily with food so I'm taking 3. With DS, I took double dose and the tea once or twice daily as well, and had no ill effects from that but had a lovely fast stage 2 labour, and got the placenta out in one go, and didn't have any after pains - all of which I'm quite happy to attribute to the raspberry leaf intake until proven wrong this time around Grin

Acid reflux is doing me in though! Mostly keeping it under control with Tums; but chocolate is a pretty-much guaranteed bringer-on of the Dreaded Acid. :(

Sleeping getting harder because of hip pain - less time on each side before I get uncomfortable now :(.

pinpan · 20/09/2012 10:23

It's after 9 pm here Running, perfect time for a quick gin. Grin I had a sip of DH's beer this evening (I know! Shock Living dangerously) and it was GOOD.

OP posts:
CaptainHetty · 20/09/2012 10:34

Chocolate sets mine off too, Thumb. Nightmare... Didn't stop me just eating a peanut butter Kitkat though... I'm sure I'll regret it soon. But it was gooood. I also have to keep turning over at night regularly and it really, really hurts. I'm taking paracetamol before I fall asleep some nights but it's not really touching the pain. I'm really fed up and tired.

I discovered this morning that the £3.99 vest tops in New Look cover my bump perfectly, they're a great length. So I now have a wardrobe full of them... Cheap and I can use them afterwards as well :o

RunningOutOfIdeas · 20/09/2012 13:16

2 hrs with two 4 year olds and I am broken. I had them playing chase, flying a kite, riding a bike and I seemed to be the only one that got tired.

Sorry that others also have reflux. I am working my way through packets of Gaviscon tablets. I have a faint linea nigra all the way up my bump and the sonographer was certain that pip is a girl. I did not get a line at all with DD.

EarnestDullard · 20/09/2012 16:05

Hi all, feel like a bit of an interloper on this thread seeing as I've been so utterly rubbish at posting. I have been lurking and reading, honest. Not sure if it's worth changing my name on the list (I was MissPenteuth); maybe when I update with actual birth details (eek!).

37+5 today and had appt with mw. All fine, the baby is head down and nice and low, but there was sugar in my urine. I wasn't surprised actually, I've been mainlining chocolate the past few days Blush but now I really need to cut back. An apple and a mini Babybel with my mid-afternoon raspberry leaf tea (I'm currently on 3 cups a day) just isn't the same as a Wispa. And tomorrow DH is taking me out for posh afternoon tea as it's my birthday soon; I figure it's ok as a one-off if I avoid any other sugary treats. It's been booked for weeks and I'm really looking forward to it; also have a pregnancy massage tomorrow afternoon. Bliss :)

Sympathies on the heartburn front, I'm developing a Gaviscon habit these past few weeks too. Even waking in the midle of the night, when I haven't been eating; seems very unfair Grin Maybe cutting back on sugar will help on that front too.

No linea nigra here, or last time (both girls, although the woman who accosted spoke to me in Tesco the other day was convinced from the shape of my bump that this one must be a boy, so we'll see).

Hetty is it rib pain that's waking you up? I'm currently sleeping on a spare folded up duvet and it seems to help, just having an extra soft layer under me. I did the same thing in my last pregnancy and it was also handy for protecting the bed when my waters broke!

pinpan that baby quilt sounds lovely, you clever thing.

Would it be really cheeky of me to ask about joining the FB group, even though I've been so crap at keeping up with you all on here?

Littleplasticpeople · 20/09/2012 16:31

maketea that is mad timing with the builders! I hope power is restored soon.

No linea negra here (38 wks tomorrow ), but my bump is somewhat comical. It is extremely pointy and sort of guides me wherever I go Grin
I had MW appt today, apparently the head is well engaged, which I sort of knew as I can now hardly walk as it feels so low! I've also managed to get my iron levels up above he home birth levels which meant tht the paperwork for that was finally filled out today.

I have been having strong BH each evenin this week, but they stop when I go to bed. We are awaiting delivery of a new bed on Monday, but after that I'm good to go! C'mon baby, be early Grin

CaptainHetty · 20/09/2012 16:49

'Tis my entire pelvis, feels like it's being ripped in two every time I move suddenly. When I've been laid down or sat still for prolonged periods, moving almost makes me want to cry it hurts that much. I've tried every trick in the book but nothing eases it. I also sometimes get a weird sensation when I go for a wee, feels almost like something moving right in my pelvis, no idea what that is Confused

I'm not sure how people are added to the group since it was made secret, I can't remember who the admin are either... Hopefully someone else will be along who's slightly more helpful soon :o

Bubblebell1 · 20/09/2012 18:23

Hi ladies!

Can I have some biscuits pls.
I'm currently craving ice cream sundaes with lashings of chocolate sauce. Mmmm

Just made a chocolate brownie and I plan to eat the whole lot when the kids go to bed.

Had midwife today. Baby was fully engaged. (after being completely free last night). We went through breast feeding. Just to make sure I can remember what to do and then at the end she said ....."well next time we see each other you will have your baby!" eeek!

Next week I have my pre op and then 3 days later I have my bubba! I can't believe it. I'm soooo excited. Grin

hetty do you have spd. The pain your describing reminds me of that.
This time round it's not been so bad but with ds2 I was on crutches and wore a support belt.
If the pain is really bad. My midwife told me to take paracetamol. If that doesn't work the go can prescribe a low does codydramol.

Hope you feel better soon.

Welcome back misspen

Squigglywiggly · 21/09/2012 07:44

How is everyone feeling? i am 36 weeks with 2nd and for last week I've been having mild regularish (8mins) contractions in evening which are gone by morning! Is anyone else getting these?

They are sooo annoying!

Beeblebear · 21/09/2012 07:50

no sign of contractions here. 36 w today.only time I even get bh is if I stand up too quickly from sitting or bent over.

MakeTeaNotWar · 21/09/2012 08:07

Nothing here - absolutely nothing - 39 + 2

RunningOutOfIdeas · 21/09/2012 08:27

Morning all. I felt no contractions / bh at all when pg with DD. This time round I am feeling a lot more. Definitely if I am doing too much but also at random times.

Hetty your description of the pain you are in is exactly like mine. I have a physio appointment on Monday. Hopefully it will help. My MW arranged it.
