Hope you are doing ok Hetty. And have managed to get some sleep! Very exciting but hopefully your wee one can stay in till daylight! Grin

GizzyBoo · 14/09/2012 05:47

Ooooooh Hetty hope everything settled for you and you managed to get some rest.

I am up at stoopid o clock as I am starving, my hips ache and I have cramp in my legs.

I would quite like to have a baby today! Blush

CaptainHetty · 14/09/2012 07:02

Thanks girls, did manage to get back to sleep in the end and the pains have gone this morning, now I just feel like death warmed up and want to sleep all day. Baby feels very low so hopefully not much longer.

Hope you're all ok x

HeyMicky · 14/09/2012 09:05

Me too, Gizzy.

Hope it happens soon, Hetty (in daylight). I'm off to scrub the floor and eat some pineapple

ST82 how are you doing?

goodsenseofdirection · 14/09/2012 09:26

hetty well done to your little one for stating put! Hope you get some rest today and the car lights get fixed x

Will catch up properly later, tired today after a v sleepless night. Too much stuff going on and to organise... And suddenly bump feeling v uncomfortable. Need a nap already, but now rather late for work Blush

goodsenseofdirection · 14/09/2012 09:27

Staying put Blush

MissPollysTrolleyed · 14/09/2012 09:41

Oh, sounds very imminent Hetty. Best of luck.

37 weeks here and not feeling anything resembling a twinge so expect baby to stay put for a while yet. This suits me well as I am loving this pre-baby maternity leave lark and am very keen to milk it for a little while longer.

I've also been burning the 3am oil these nights. I'm planning a nap this afternoon to try to catch up on some lost sleep. This will only be my third or fourth nap this entire pregnancy so I'm disproportionately excited about it!

ST82 · 14/09/2012 09:51

HeyMicky feelign ok today, no contractions this morning so far and nothing else unusual that i have noticed! ahhhh well, i guess it's not time yet. the other suprising thing is that bump is still pretty high up. maybe it was just me and my wishful thinking.

on a more positive note - it's my LAST DAY IN THE OFFICE today!!! hurray!!! Grin i can't believe it is here already...

CaptainHetty · 14/09/2012 10:39

We have lights once again :o so baby can just do whatever she likes now. DP'll be back here tonight anyways. Had a couple of tightenings today but nothing painful.

Have also scrubbed the floors this morning, had no effect labour-wise but they are nice and sparkly floors now and I feel slightly less lazy for having laid on the sofa watching crap TV for the past hour. Still debating whether to risk a bus ride and walk around town this afternoon or not...

Hope you enjoy your last day ST :o

Thumbwitch · 14/09/2012 11:21

Ooo Hetty - sounds exciting! glad you have lights on the car again. :)

ST82 - have a lovely last day!

Saw my osteopath again today - she commented that a) my bump has got even bigger in the last 2 weeks (and don't I know it!) but also that all my back muscles have tightened up to try and stop me falling over! I've also reached the end of being able to walk too far - a 20 min walk had me puffing like a walrus, and belly aching too. I don't think this one would be going to 40w, even if the Obgyn would let me!

Am feeling a little scared about it all again though - just concerned about the birth, how it's all going to go, whether I'm going to be able to push the baby out, whether it's going to turn in time, you know, all the usual paranoic feelings! Need to take some kind of chill pill...

Re. baby heartbeat, I think it's a pretty wide range for it to be ok - between 110 and 160 seems to be absolutely normal but I'm sure it's fine, although they don't tend to worry unless it goes over 180.
The CTG I had was measuring any tightenings/contractions on one line, baby heartrate on the next line and I had a clicker to press every time the baby moved which was marked as a cross on the 3rd line - does that match up with what you saw on yours, Hetty?

CaptainHetty · 14/09/2012 12:04

oh yes, that's the same as mine. I just couldn't figure out what the other reading was, she never explained it but she did look at it and ask if I'd been having contractions so I figured it must be monitoring tightenings or something.

I alternate between being scared stupid of giving birth again and just wanting it to be over with. The worst part is the waiting for me, I get contractions but they don't do anything, today I have that god awful 'there's a baby about to fall out of my fanjo' feeling where she's sitting so low down, but all my tightenings are painless and sporadic, so I don't think they're doing anything apart from being an annoyance!

Is baby still transverse, Thumb? My mum says my sister was all the wrong way round right up until she went into labour, so maybe baby is just taking their time turning :)

Thumbwitch · 14/09/2012 12:13

Well it certainly was transverse yesterday, Hetty - I saw it stretch out across my stomach! - and probably today too.
I'll be 36w by Monday, when I will be checked again but with the extra fluid I'm carrying, I think it will still have time to turn after that - it's still extremely mobile! Grin
After Monday though I'll start with reflexology and acupuncture to encourage it to go head down. Might work, you never know!

ShellWeDance · 14/09/2012 12:23

Going to post and run cos just wanted to tell Thumbwitch that at our first antenatal class the MW told us about this Chinese herbal stick, can't remember the name, but basically if you're transverse, you burn it, wave it next to your little toes 7 times and it works 80% of the time! They've done medical trials on it but no one knows why it works. In China it works 97% of the time! Sounds weird but worth a try I guess. Maybe try popping into a herbalist near you and asking?

Thumbwitch · 14/09/2012 12:47

Interesting, Shellwe, thank you! Will check it out. :)

Thumbwitch · 14/09/2012 12:52

www.birthinternational.com/articles/midwifery/37-if-your-baby-is-breech the sticks appear to be moxa - moxibustion is something I'm aware of but never tried, I know it stinks though! Grin
An acupuncturist I know uses these sticks, might get her to get some for me. :)

Bubblebell1 · 14/09/2012 14:48

Girls...... How do u know if your waters have gone?

Bubblebell1 · 14/09/2012 14:49

I mean not felt a gush but am just very very wet down there. Blush

CaptainHetty · 14/09/2012 14:52

Mine never broke with DD but with DS2 they went slowly and I just seemed to continually leak for ages. I think the advice generally is to wear a sanitary towel and see if you're losing anything. Might be worth contacting labour just in case if you're not sure. Hope everything is ok x

*labour ward

Thumbwitch · 14/09/2012 15:05

Not sure about waters, bubblebell - mine went in a big whoosh down the loo last time and there appeared to be a reasonable amount of blood involved as well, but I don't think that's always the case. When I say big whoosh, it really was an almighty "splosh" - I half thought I'd had the baby down the loo and spent a good couple of minutes trying to work out if I had (I was somewhat out of it with the pain of contractions at that point, not really coherent Blush)

The water smells sweet. It's def not wee this time. Blush ( it normally is)
I had a bath earlier. Could I have taken on some sweet smelling water from there? When I stand I notice more coming out. But still not had a pop, or a gush.
I have never been in spontaneous labour. I was induced with ds1 and had a cs with ds2.

I've got a pad on now and I'm hoping that nothing happens this weekend. It's my mums birthday meal tonight and I have to collect my new car tomorrow!

CaptainHetty · 14/09/2012 16:09

It does sound like it might be your waters, especially if you're losing more when you stand up. I've only had mine break spontaneously once but there was no gush or pop, either, that I noticed. Might be best to be checked out by the labour ward to be on the safe side? If they have broken and contractions don't start naturally they may not leave you over the weekend, though x
