xmas DP is excited generally, just one big squishy man who goes awww every time he sees even a picture of a little baby he is driving me nuts so sweet Hmm

One last thing: Queen as a disclaimer I'd just like to state that I have not once (previously) mentioned maltesers or minstrels and cannot be held responsible for the addictive properties of Nutella :)

Stocked up with biscuits at a little British festival thing at the weekend and they also had a stand selling Fudge.... ahhhh fudge!!!

PrunellaDeVille · 06/08/2012 21:19

Grin all clear from the cardiologist.
only thing - super low blood pressure - strange to be told eat more salt!

It's true, nutella IS addictive. But so is fudge... mmmmmmm :)
Great news about your scan!

I'm also cross with DH, because he's not a mind reader basically. Hmph.

Is it terrible that I have thought about the lady garden issue? Blush I guess after my first it won't seem like something to consider!

Anyone else's stomach shrunk? My appetite is the same but I feel like I have gastric band & every meal is bloody painful.

kate2boysandabump · 06/08/2012 21:22

I have to admit that my devoted DH did tidy up my lady garden when I was in early labour. I felt it was a small favour considering what I was about to do. I will be employing his beautician services again I'm sure Grin

Good news on the scans everyone Smile

My baby can't take the adrenaline of my Olympic watching, every time I watch something I can feel him bouncing around. Poor thing.

HoneyMum21 · 06/08/2012 21:30

Slightly personal/awkward question - when you say your DH 'tidied up' your lady garden, do you mean erm, hedge clippers round the edges or lawnmower and strimmer all over kind of tidy?! i'm not entirely sure what's expected!

CODwidow · 06/08/2012 21:31

I have to admit I love packing my hospital bag Grin I think it must be the organised part of me! But I won't start that until oct otherwise I'll spend way too much time unpacking and packing! Grin

I'm having lots of braxton hicks and already noticing when I do lots it aches. Plus the floor seems so far away already!

cherrypiew3 · 06/08/2012 21:47

Welcome xmas Smile

Glad today's scans went well good luck for anyone with scans tomorrow.

Went to mothercare today to have a look at moses baskets and dd told me I was the only lady in there that did not look pregnant.Sad

SpottyTeacakes · 06/08/2012 21:48

Honey nothing is expected. I might shave the, ahem, undercarriage this time as it will be easier keeping clean afterwards.

Bubbless · 06/08/2012 21:48

thank you for the ML advice for notes, going to try and construct one tomorrow and then post on here for advice!

ispy glad the scan went well!

daydream glad youve come to a decision with your DP, at least that way you wont be worrying and your employement history is intact!

ellie my GP's used to work like this, it all ended up fair in the end because it wasnt 'treat' stuff, it was stuff we needed at the time! your mum sounds fine with you having asked, id just reply saying thank you so much for helping out, much appreciated, and youd been having a rather emotional afternoon with the olympics hense the upset!

nutella hes annoying because hes there and being too nice/horrible/unattentive/ too attentive / not cooking dinner / cooked dinner / didnt get you a drink / got you a drink........... its a common problem ;)
well yes, this is what i thought when i read it, then put the fear of God into myself thinking 'are the mw expecting me to be trimmed!?' also, what if you havent had a chance for a shower / bath that day.. what if your a bit.. smelly over-ripe?!
oh.goodness.
also, im going to train DP up to shave me...... otherwise it will be a forest!

cherry not looking pregnant is better than 1- just looking fat or 2- looking pregnant too early and having to buy 1000 different wardrobes!

HoneyMum21 · 06/08/2012 21:54

Also-question for those who already have had babies- when LO is in moses basket did you actually use the coverlet type thing that comesonthe basket? I'm not that keen and am planning to swaddle (if he likes it) - am i ok to just use sheets on the matress then either swaddle him or use a blanket? Or is the coverlet thing actually good. If so, do you just use that with no other covers?

Clarella · 06/08/2012 22:04

Ahhh lovely reading all your chatter esp lady topiary ;) I never bother with mine but always been naturally reasonably neat though I think its spreading in preg.... good point about keeping clean though, didn't think about that!

Sorry to hear about your work daydream. Very strange procedures. Imo it would be classed as pregnancy related.

I've missed loads of scans and baby news, congratulations to you all and welcome to the newbies!

Big braxton hicks today, quite disconcerting and a little uncomfortable at times. Didn't feel baby so much because if them!

Weight - at (eek!) Exactly 24 weeks today I've put on 12 lb but actually most of that was in the first trimester, basically I think my body decided it needed more fat as my bum grew more than my tummy till about 16 weeks! Still I guess helps the bf :)

Best Olympic moment so far for me was our wee Geordie 400m (?) lad yesterday saying he was proud to have got so far considering he'd only been training for 7 months and was on the lash for 2 years before that. True geordie style!

pmgkt · 06/08/2012 22:06

I think somewhere I read the covers are not suitable for newborns, I never used mine, swaddled everynight. layers are better, but they do look cute when baby isn't in it

StateofConfusion · 06/08/2012 22:10

honey the coverlets are pretty pointless tbh, I think I used it for photo purposes but ds was either swaddled or tucked in tightly with a flat sheet and cellular on top of him. Fine either way, its whatever your dc likes. Once ds was 9/10lb I used sleeping bags as he stopped liking being swaddled, and he loved his sleeping bags until 2 and a half!

Thank you for that reminder I'd forgotten I need sheets etc for the carrycot from the bugaboo, as I stupidly parted with our moses basket. Although mum still has the crib my brother sister and ds used as he got too big for the moses basket but seemed to wee for the cotbed so I borrowed hers. Dd never slept, ever except on me

Anyone looking at slings, having tried a baby bjorn style bushbaby one and ring sling wrap I've now set my heart on a close caboo it looks so comfy!

CODwidow · 06/08/2012 22:13

No the covers aren't really much good to be honest.

I've put on about 4lbs and 21+5 now but I'm sure it'll all go down hill from about 30wks Blush with all the boys I piled it on really quickly but bf really does help me personally lose it easily.

HoneyMum21 · 06/08/2012 22:16

thanks - we gota second hand moses basket but the coverlet and liner and hood are all very girly so we're going to replace what we need to. I'm thinking we only really NEED to get the liner as wicker looks very scratchy if it's not covered! Does that sound about right?

So, just a sheet over the top and tucked in around the mattress if he doesn't like swaddles? Then a blanket if it;'s cold? THat gets tucked in under the mattress too, right? (i'm still sooooooooo clueless!) Would you use a waterproof protector on the mattress too?

Also, when baby is in the carrycot in the pram would people put sheets on that?

HoneyMum21 · 06/08/2012 22:17

As far as slings go - we got a a brand new babybjorn off ebay really cheap so have got that for out and about but have been recommended getting one of the jersey wrap type ones for round the house too

CODwidow · 06/08/2012 22:39

I'm hoping to get a jersey type one for just around the house too, hoping it'll mean I can get things done.

StateofConfusion · 06/08/2012 22:42

Yup honey, I'm on my phone right now but ill find a link tomorrow, when ds was born I had a small cardboard wall thermomter and beside each temp it had the recomended layers and it was my bible.
Our moses basket mattress had a waterproof wipe clean cover anyway as part of it, I think they mostly do.

I will use sheets on my pram carrycot as I've had a sicky baby and a sweaty baby. A good tip if you have a sicky dribbly baby is fold a muslin long ways and wrap around the mattress at head height, really minimised my washing :)

StateofConfusion · 06/08/2012 22:49

Dp loves our bush baby and whilst I loved the security of how it fixed on, I just didnt get on with it --huge norks-- I had a basic ring sling, goes on one shoulder but felt I couldn't take my hand off dd to deal with ds. So the close caboo looks the perfect mix for me. For round the house and trips to the park where a buggys too much faff.

Clarella · 07/08/2012 07:36

Oh gawd, we really should be buying stuff we bought a shed yesterday :/

PurplePidjin · 07/08/2012 07:39

I keep buying wool Hmm

SpottyTeacakes · 07/08/2012 07:41

Oooo lots to catch up on......

RE Moses baskets, we never used the coverlets either. We used to swaddle dd (the swaddle blanket we got for dd said not to put any layers over the top) it was really good and she always settled with it immediately, wonder if the next one will be the same?!

I also second putting a muslin across the head area of the mattress as it can just be taken off and washed when baby is sick.

Hmm I fancy a sling, we have a play park right next to where we live so would be silly to use a pushchair when taking dd. The Caboo looks good, it's quite pricey though, I suppose they all are though.... some on eBay though.

Heart palpitations have started here, had it with dd too it's a horrible feeling. Also panicking that my bump doesn't seem to have grown at all in the past couple of weeks!

SpottyTeacakes · 07/08/2012 07:42

I haven't bought anything, I haven't even written a list yet Shock

Queenofsiburbia · 07/08/2012 07:59

spotty & clarella I have always done everything last minute from holiday packing to exam revision so I'm not going to change now & start buying things and being organised.

I have been given a list and reading that has given me the same feeling of organisation as if I'd been out & bought everything on it Grin

Perhaps today when I'm in London I might buy a baby grow.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 07/08/2012 08:02

Spotty I hope your heart calms down! Must be horrible.

I've bought loads of stuff but don't have a list and not sure what else I need Hmm

I managed to sleep last night thankfully. Work and dog walking today.

oh and my boobs are leaking
