HorseyLady you don't need to buy nipple shields, you may not need them at all. Sometimes women get dry, cracked nipples early on before they get used to breastfeeding (use lanolin cream to prevent this) and then you can use the nipple shields temporarily to prevent the baby's saliva drying your nipples even more. My DS1 wouldn't breastfeed naturally at all but I was able to bf him using nipple shields so I used them for eight months with him but that was an exceptional case. If I had had some breastfeeding support then I probably would have been able to get him on to the breast without the shields, certainly DS2 didn't have any problems with breastfeeding.

With regard to breast pumps, if you're planning to express any breast milk at all you really need one. It is possible to hand express but it takes a long time to get a reasonable quantity of milk. I used an Avent manual with DS1 and a Tommee Tippee manual with DS2 and preferred the Tommee Tippee but it's a bit of a marmite thing. I'm going to get an electric pump this time because I breastfed my last two for eight and nine months respectively so I know I'll get the use out of it. One thing I did find was that after breastfeeding was established I couldn't get any milk out with the pump so I'm hoping the more powerful electric pump will enable me to express breast milk for longer.

Hello everyone,
I've had my anti d, I'm one of those people that really hates needles and it went fine. I got the jab in the arm, for that lady that wanted to know.

I have my cot, and I have just ordered my cot mattress. Do I need cot bumpers? Any way for the sheets I'll cut normal sheets in half and sow the edge. It will be cheaper than getting and finding the right size sheets.

I also bought 162 nappies today, cause they were on offer and it freaked out my DP. I guess it shocked him that I've bought that, and not got some of the other things and sorted out the nursery.
I got Huggins newborn, size one. If any one wants to know.

My new dryer rules! And I have to go work tomorrow :(
I'm going to catch up on the posts.

Had a BBQ today, so lots of burgers, sausages etc. Also enjoying Becks Blue & low alcohol rose wine.:) Lots of friends over & nice afternoon in the garden. Plus, lots of help in washing up Wink Happy days.

Evilwater · 04/08/2012 21:08

I havn't heard my move, it moves more than it used to. However I wished he moved more. Maybe I'm just worring like a crazy person, he's moved now.

For those talking to your bump, do they move for you?
I have manual Breast pump that came with the bottles. I'd like to breast feed but, im not to worried about it.

I'm glad the fleas have got sorted out.

For those ladies that have breast pumps, take photos of how the breast pump fits togethere!

I've spent a little while trying to figure out which bit goes where.

The little fraggle is using me as a punch bag ATM. From our last scan I know it's roughly were the arms r. N he is punching in quick rounds in one spot, just like u wud on a punch bag. Lol. Also got a really sharp pain in same location earlier. Could it be him grabbing from inside.

Looking at 3d scan pics again. One has him sucking on his hand. Wud that mean I have a sucky baby? Maybe should start to think about dummies n how I would feel about that.

At 27+5 I was sick again this am Sad. Oh well. Once a week is ok compared to first trimester! Lol.

Spent most the day ignoring H. Made easier by him sleeping all day due to night shift.

Have Vienna icecream in fridge. So temping.

Bluetinkerbell · 04/08/2012 22:03

Took a while to catch up!
Been to visit my sister and her squidgy newborn in Belgium! He's gorgeous! Can't wait to have a little one myself again now! :)

horseylady · 04/08/2012 23:28

I feel like I'm just piling weight on :( I don't think being ill has helped and me not being able to do anything ;( my legs are getting bigger my belly and boobs are growing at some alarming rate and I'm actually freaking out!!!

Good news is bump is happy I can feel his legs move independently now (into my rib cage!!) I can't hear popping but feel that sort of sensation!! Figured it was hiccoughs. His arms also wander round.

Also in my coughing fits I leak sometimes. You have no dignity in pregnancy at all!!

DesperateHousewife21 · 05/08/2012 06:19

Omg I'm so tired, had to go to the loo at half 5 then ds woke up.
Got a BBQ at my mums today, hope the rain holds off.

StuntNun · 05/08/2012 06:45

DH21 glad to see someone else is up as I was getting lonely on here!

Have a look at these bibs funkygiraffebibs.co.uk/ they look so cool and I'm thinking about ordering some.

OP posts:
DesperateHousewife21 · 05/08/2012 07:04

Yeah I saw alot of them when ds was small. Think my nephew had them too, they're a really good idea and look a lot cooler than normal bibs!

ValiumQueen · 05/08/2012 07:33

Oh stunt those bibs are awesome! Just two years ago things like that cost a fortune! They are lovely designs, excellent price, free postage, and the reviews sound good. I made some for DD and probably cost more than that! I will be getting my boy some. For weaning I recommend Silly Billy's sleeved bibs, but they do cost a fortune. Lasted two kids already though.

5 nights in washables, and no leaks. They have clearly come a long way in just a few years. Shame DD has realised what a quick response she gets from pulling the Velcro. Have a popper wrap on order for nights.

ValiumQueen · 05/08/2012 07:43

Well the prices are good if you buy lots, but I think you would have to [ grin]

ValiumQueen · 05/08/2012 08:16

The personalised ones are good, and you can write messages not just names. They do grown up size too. Thinking of getting a matching set for father and son. Sons on Anarchy possibly, or I like Boobies.

kissyfur · 05/08/2012 09:10

Morning all, love those bibs! Thanks for linking! I looked at getting something similar when DD was small but they were about £15 each then!

horsey I seem to be expanding at an alarming rate too, can feel my mat jeans getting a bit tight Sad just feel hungry all the time!

Sunday lunch out with my dad, brother, SIL, sister and BIL today. Then no doubt more house tidying/decluttering. DD much better now thankfully.

Hope everyone has a good day

DesperateHousewife21 · 05/08/2012 10:16

Went back to bed for an hour or so. Dont really feel with it today, hope things get better (although it'll prob be downhill from here)

MissMummy1 · 05/08/2012 10:29

Had a great night's sleep - think I must be getting used to the trains (we now live right under the forth rail bridge!) Off to the old apartment this morning with DH to supervise him clean it and collect the rest of our things. Psychotic landlord sent me a whole load of threatening messages last night saying they were going to break in and change the locks so presuming we're going to end up getting the police involved today. Dread to think what our old neighbours are going to think as it's not the sort of thing that ever happens in the area - think retirement village with a few suits using it as a commuter base for edinburgh. Fun times... :(

Chunkychicken · 05/08/2012 10:43

Sounds like fun MissMummy made even more ridiculous by the fact that it was they forcing you out/giving you notice, not the other way around, and it seems, from memory, that you are well within the notice period!! Psychotic indeed.

I bought a few bandana bibs for DD

Chunkychicken · 05/08/2012 10:54

Sorry, all fingers & thumbs this morning (what a surprise!!!) so posted too early...

I remember buying cheaper ones than the "big brand" at the time, but don't remember how much. Didn't really get on with them though, as they seemed to just tuck up under DD's chin. Will try the old ones with this baby before buying others.:) Have bought the buggy board, a stroller organiser/parent console thing (as unlikely to be able to hang bag off the handles with DD on the buggy board) and 2 baby hoodies from Morck.

Thought I had decided about the double buggy - I.e that we wouldn't need one, but another couple with a slightly smaller age gap have said its handy when they need naps together. Not sure DD will nap when out anymore though... Like the Cosatto You 2 Twin though, which has good reviews on Which? & is relatively cheap, so I suppose I can always order one online as soon I need it.

ValiumQueen · 05/08/2012 11:01

Chunky I am a mean mummy as I do not let DD nap as if she does she is awake until 11pm. Sometimes she literally falls asleep in her dinner. I now just use a Tommee Tippee plastic trough bib as she has always been a clean eater, never getting it on her arms or front, she just kept dropping a lot on the floor. She always cleans the trough out before giving it back. DD1 used to get covered, even wearing sleeved bibs. The bandana ones are great for bottles or boobies, and dribblers.

ValiumQueen · 05/08/2012 11:04

Chunky, I think you would be pleased you got a double if only used this winter as they can both be snug and warm and under cover. I am not sure a buggy board would be much fun in the wind and rain or snow.

capedcrusader25 · 05/08/2012 11:05

Good luck today missmummy sorry about your arse of an ex-landlord Angry
Hi blue! So glad you had a nice time, hope everyone is doing ok over there??
I'm all caught up in Olympic fever, I love them wherever they are! So now they're in London its almost too much :o
Fed up of not sleeping now, I have to get up at least 3 times every night to go to the toilet. She's still really low down :( I'm just so tired!

Brockle · 05/08/2012 11:20

Sorry I meant breast shells not nipple shields but that may confuse matters more so ignore me!

So tired, stinky cold and had a lie in but couldn't sleep. Trying to be motivated but failing badly. Last afternoon was spent on the sofa watching the olympics and this afternoon may be the same. 25 weeks on tuesday!

ValiumQueen · 05/08/2012 11:21

Anyone finding their bump restrictive and uncomfy? I cannot work out if it is bump or cast that is causing me such difficulty. I guess it is the cast as has only happened since it went on, but the discomfort in my bump is now more than my leg. I have to put leg up if it swells, and if leg is up, my bump and back is sore. If I am up and about, my bump is fine, but I am finding things that involve bending and twisting difficult as I cannot do it any more. My mum (fuss pot) says it is not normal and I should see the MW. She didn't have it apparently, but she was half my age, slimmer, did not have a broken leg, and was a SAHM. I am 27weeks I think. Kinda lost count.

ValiumQueen · 05/08/2012 11:24

Sorry, missed missMummys post. What rotten landlords. I remember when I moved to the country from Brixton Hill I could not sleep as it was too quiet! I lived near a railway as a child, and always love hearing them go by.
