Obviously brockle junior likes dragons!

Hia yellowwellies!! Sounds like you had very busy trip.

Bump is back to full on kicking now. Tell me, am I completely mental or can I actually sometimes hear him? I am sure I can sometimes hear movements. Maybe I am imagining it.

DesperateHousewife21 · 04/08/2012 11:23

Can't say I've ever heard movement! She def loves to kick though, she was protruding right out my tummy in the bath last night it felt so weird. I can't really remember it with ds it's like I'm feeling it for the first time again.

I saw some newborn leggings in tesco today they were so cute! She will def be wearing leggings alot!

Chunkychicken · 04/08/2012 11:52

I received my delivery from Verbaudet this morning. The jeans are WONDERFUL. I totally recommend anyone looking for maternity jeans takes a look... :)

Shields just protect sore nipples when you are not feeding horsey. Useful for the first few weeks but not essential. I just took advantage cos of the offer. Again buying a breast pump before you know if you can is personal choice. With DS1 when my milk came in I had to immediately express some milk out just to relieve them so having a cheapy manual one to grab for some relief was great.

Passme we are very eclectic readers so this baby will probably be soothed by The Twits, Sir Charlie Stinky Socks, Harry Potter, Winnie the Pooh and Dragons! I am hoping he can participate in evening story time very quickly Grin. I swear by glider chairs too. I got a cheap new non brand one from ebay six years ago and love it.

Passmethecrisps · 04/08/2012 12:16

horsey I was given a manual breast pump but was going to buy an electric one had I not been given.

I plan on breastfeeding mostly but expressing so that a bottle can be introduced early on. I was planning on trying to introduce it pretty much from the beginning. Then I'll basically phase out breastfeeding and introduce more bottles. I am planning at the moment to use breast milk until about 6 months then move onto follow-on milk. That's my plan anyway!

You will only need a breastpump if you think you might want to use bottles. Either that or baby can't suckle.

I have no idea about shields. I had read that they can cause issues with suckling. Mind you, I am planning to go against all the advice by introducing a bottle so who am I to say?

I bought some clothes in sainsbury's yesterday. A wee hooded cadie (which is a bit girlie but I don't care), some sleepsuits and a very hungry caterpillar shorty type set which is for 6-9 months so nice for spring!

The noises I hear are a bit like a popping or squishing/squirting noise. I am not sure if they are in my head though. You know like If you squeeze a spot and it makes a pop sound but you don't know if it actually did or you just 'felt' the pop? Am I making myself sound mental?

ValiumQueen · 04/08/2012 13:23

pass what a delightful image.

I thought you wore nipple shields when feeding? Never used them.

I think follow on milk is what is given from 1 year so baby would need regular formula from 6 months. Again I never used. DD2 would not drink any kind of milk for months when I weaned her off boobie at 16 months. Well she weaned herself. She still does not like it.

YellowWellies · 04/08/2012 14:46

Awww brockle am loving the family bedtime stories! How fab that the wee one joins in :)

As for breast pumps - that's one thing I'm sort of holding off on buying - I know my sister got far more milk out when expressing manually for her daughter but a pump worked when feeding her son. She recommended an electric one as a manual seemed to be no better than doing it by hand... am really not sure. Have got some bottles that allow baby to use the same mouth / tongue position as for BFing so I can express and DH can do the really shitty middle of the night feed Grin but am still not sure how to get the milk out and in the bottle...

ValiumQueen · 04/08/2012 14:52

I found a manual pump better. I guess the best thing to do is get a basic manual pump and see how it goes. Some places loan pumps, or could you borrow from a friend?

ShellyBobbs · 04/08/2012 15:56

DesperateHousewife21 I too was a human dummy!

Thanks everyone for your suggestion for the flea epidemic here. Hubby phoned the vet who suggested the council came and dealt with the problem Confused, we are not council tenants and only rang to see if he sold the stuff. Eventually he said it was £22 then hung up! So we will get the proper stuff, i'll have to wait until pay day though............

ValiumQueen · 04/08/2012 16:23

tits have I told you how highly I rate Gaviscon?

DesperateHousewife21 · 04/08/2012 16:27

shelly I won't be able to do it again this time! I don't want to bf til 15 months anyway. I'm going to try mix feeding this time.

Having a mcd's tonight, we have take away every fortnight Nd that's what it is this weekend.

ValiumQueen · 04/08/2012 16:35

Ooh what will you have?

DesperateHousewife21 · 04/08/2012 16:41

We're both going for the cheddar deluxe meal. We'll get our free coke glass too Grin

Ds has a chicken nugget happy meal but with apple and grapes rather than chips because I'm mean lol.

ValiumQueen · 04/08/2012 16:47

I must admit I always have a Big Mac if I have the money. If not the double cheeseburger. I wish they delivered. You must post details!

ValiumQueen · 04/08/2012 16:48

Will that be with a side of antacids?

YellowWellies · 04/08/2012 17:15

I loved living in Hong Kong not least because MacDonalds over there delivers - and you can get the breakfast menu all day. Day long sausage and egg McMuffins - nom nom.... perfect hangover cure after too heavy a night in Lan Kwai Fong. -Looks out of window at remote windswept rainy island with no decent takeaways and shakes fist-

NervousAt20 · 04/08/2012 17:44

[shocked] yellow mcdonalds deliver? Breakfast all day? WOW!

NervousAt20 · 04/08/2012 17:44

Shock*

DesperateHousewife21 · 04/08/2012 18:13

valium going to have to disappoint you, the mcds wasn't v nice. Overdone burger, limp lettuce, anaemic chips and they forgot ds' fruit bag so had to give him some of my chips.

We're having fish and chips next time!

ValiumQueen · 04/08/2012 18:22

That is quite normal though isn't it? Shame you did not enjoy it though, and naughty to miss off the fruit. Complain and you might get a freebee. Thank you for telling me. Do not feel so bad about my cheese sandwich now.

Passmethecrisps · 04/08/2012 18:35

DH is painting. I am hiding - both from the painting and the heat. Cat doesn't know what to do with herself either. Grim flies everywhere. Never happy!

Passmethecrisps · 04/08/2012 18:36

Cheese sandwiches are good! We are havig omelette and chips for yea tonight. Yum yum

WaitingForMe · 04/08/2012 18:37

I just spent a lovely afternoon catching up interspersed with adding notes to my birth plan and watching The Midwives.

I had my mum staying this week which was great as she forced me to make decisions. We now have a basic wardrobe of clothes, storage boxes for the change unit and everything has been washed and folded away. We found some lovely night shirts in Primark for £7 for labour/immediately afterwards and loads of stuff like cheap slippers I won't mind throwing away if I bleed on them.

I'm now feeling very organised Grin

Baby now kicks like crazy and last night I saw my belly move for the first time. Unfortunately this had the side effect of a well aimed kick at lunchtime seeing me throw up back onto my plate!

DSS1 has had a moany whiny day which has been tedious. At one point he charged out of the living room with Lego planes aimed outwards and ran straight into me. Instinctively I put my hands out to protect the bump and he accused me of hitting him. I snarled that it was self-defence. Not sure where that came from, I'm normally pretty placid with them. It was like some crazy animalistic protection for my child kicked in and he was the enemy Confused

I obviously wasn't too awful as DH just told him to be more careful and didn't react but maybe he's scared of the primal pregnant woman Wink

Catbag · 04/08/2012 18:40

Had my scan yesterday- all is v. well, which is great, and it turns out that my twins are each weighing in at heavier than a singleton at the mo. I must be doing something right! They've also moved from lying in a transverse position to heads down, which has relieved my lungs somewhat. Being absolutely terrified of the prospect of caesarian, this has pleased me greatly! (They'd better not move round again)

DesperateHousewife21 · 04/08/2012 18:40

valium worse than usual id say. Can't be bothered to drive back there now. There's a KFC next door to it we'll just have that instead!

Better go start bedtime with ds. Laters baby!
