So sorry to hear your news babyjames

kellestar · 22/08/2012 21:35

sorry for your loss babyjames

waves at kittybump :) nice to see you again.

It's still not really settled in, but those internet cheapies were pants. but it all makes sense now, the aversion to touching or smelling raw meat, tiredness at 3pm ish, nausea in the morning, overflowing boobies, constant pee'ing. so should be 8+0 today.

I've stashed lots of stuff from last time. But even then, I'd never bought much apart from car seat/buggy, crib, a few clothes [didn't know what we were having] everything else was bought after. Most of it second hand.

We had lots of obscure gifts, but not much useful clothes type stuff. So DH had to go shopping to get tiny baby [in boots] as she was 5lb 13oz and we had nothing smaller than 0-3 at home or as gifts.

blondecat · 22/08/2012 21:43

Checking in
Did the test Saturday and Sunday and now hoping for DC2 on 28 April

Let's hope this one holds onto me. Last time I lost it at 8-9 weeks and having moved to Switzerland getting the blood tests is not so easy and I have to wait till 12 September for the early scan

Now I need to chillax but it's easier said than done

Here's to all of us

ratbagcatbag · 22/08/2012 21:45

I'm so sorry babyjames. Big hugs to you.

How's everyone else doing? I feel one of the oldies of the thread being 8+3

bunnygirl80 · 22/08/2012 22:07

Sorry to hear your news babyjames

Welcome to all the new people! blondecat were you on the November 2010 thread?

As far as buying stuff, I will be waiting until after 20wk scan. I've got more than one friend who has had sad news at this scan, and I don't think I could bear to have baby stuff around the house if that happened to me. (sorry, that's quite depressing). I think I'll be getting a double buggy, as DS is a bolter and needs to be restrained sometimes for his own safety. Will move DS to a bed so baby can have the, although it'll start in Moses basket/my bed. As for clothes, we found out what we were having with DS, so I don't have much neutral stuff, so if this one's a boy we're fine, if it's a girl she might want some stuff that's not blue

alwayshopeful13 · 22/08/2012 23:38

I'll also be holding off buying anything for quite a while yet. Every day feels like a mountain at the mo given mc last time, so we won't believe it's true til we get past the point we got to last time, and even then going on a shopping spree will probably wait til much later. Also hoping to avoid going crazy with purchases and buy as we go, with some secondhand stuff from friends etc, so just essentials first off.

All that talk of holding off aside, I did have a good sneaky peak around John Lewis baby dept today, to start doing rekkies on buggies and nursery furniture. I know I probably shouldn't be so hard to resist!

Good night lovely ladies.

ratbagcatbag · 23/08/2012 05:47

I'm the same as you lot not buying until the 20 wk scan, but I did tell DH we have to enter the sharesave at work next sept at £50 per month then in five years we will have 3k which will take us all to Lapland when sproglet is 6. Maybe planning a tiny bit too far ahead :)

ratbagcatbag · 23/08/2012 07:12

Ok I feel the sickest I've felt so far, don't fancy food so sucking a boiled sweet hoping I won't throw up. It's a long way to the ladies from the office. :(

HaveALittleFaith · 23/08/2012 07:16

I know that feeling ratbag! Yesterday I worked on the ward and had to run off 5 times to be sick! How no-one at work has guessed yet is beyond me...

Teapig · 23/08/2012 07:26

Welcome to the newly up duffed and big congrats.

Thanks for the advice on costs of a LO, good to have an idea of what the essentials are. I'm with you ladies on holding off on any shopping until later on. Trying not to count my chickens as I mc'ed at 11 weeks last time and this pain in my pelvis is makiing me worry it could be ectopic, going to the GP tomorrow. If baby sticks I'll definitely be scouting out for second hand items but only after 20 week scan.

Still no pg symtpoms for me which is just like last time, should be careful what I wish for but would love some morning sickness just so I know pg hormones are there.

ZoeRowe · 23/08/2012 07:40

babyjames I'm so sorry for your loss, my thourghts are with you and your family.

I cant belive how buisy this thread is, had to catch up on three pages!

I'm definalty feeling alot more tired and a little sick. had the strangest dream last night that i took my DS and newborn baby to a toddler group and lost the baby lol i really do hate pregnancy dreams, any one else having any odd dreams yet? I think i might call the midwife today and get a booking in appointment, feeling very nervous because i MC last time the day of my booking in appointment. I know its silly but i just dont want to temp fate Sad

4+3 (i think)

Giddypants · 23/08/2012 09:59

babyjames so sorry to hear you sad news (( hugs))

I felt really good for the past two days, ms went away and i didn't feel so tired, half way through my breakfast today, just had to go vom! Gggrrrrr
Feel really nauseas now and I'm meeting a few friends at 11 luckily they all know.
I'm not buying anything until much later, I still have a lot of unused things from DS cot, Moses basket, pram, he has to have constant skin to skin to feel secure so co slept and carried around for the first year!
So it'll be just a few neutral clothes and stuff for my hospital bag.

Giddypants · 23/08/2012 10:00

Damn it 8+1

BonaDea · 23/08/2012 10:05

I have given up catching up on this thread, it is unbelievably busy! I have never been on one of these ante natal threads before - are they always this busy, or have we got some sort of freak baby boom going on?

I won't be buying anything either for quite some time. Am spending lots of time researching / reading MN reviews of products, so when I am ready to buy I'll be ready to buy IYKWIM.

Have bought myself a couple of maternity tops etc from ebay, but don't think that is tempting fate in quite the same way, as I am already struggling with my own clothes!

ratbagcatbag · 23/08/2012 11:14

I've got lots of bits and pieces already given to me by friends who know we've been trying, but will need all the big stuff but not going to get any of that yet. :)

I had really bad dreams last night but that's because before I went to bed, I nipped to the loo and obviously grabbed some toilet roll, as it was in my hand I saw something black wriggling on it, I screamed and launched it, to see a massive spider wriggle out, it must have been hanging on the loo roll. Can you imagine if I'd not seen it, is have wiped my lady garden with a large spider anyway cue loads of dreaming about frigging andrex, spiders and wees. :)

I was well impressed at DH reaction to scream, which was to stay in bed and comment there must have been a spider. Hmmmm

angeltattoo · 23/08/2012 11:35

I feel really bloated and am not liking anything tight on my tummy, so I was wondering about clothes too. Just buy some leggings and loose dresses? Or straight for some maternity stuff?

It seems silly at only 6+ 5 and don't want to tempt fate? Any suggestions anyone?

BonaDea · 23/08/2012 11:51

Angel - I'm the same (7+5) and although I know it's just bloat, it is really becoming uncomfortable.

Tips given to me by friends:

-buy some maternity tights and wear any shift or wrap over dresses you still fit into which won't dig in

  • use hair ties to expand your trousers and jeans by looping them through the button hole and over the button. This is definitely helping me right now!
  • buy a couple of bump bands, one white and one black - you can put these over your waistband to disguise the fact that your trousers and skirts are not properly fastened and to smooth over your profile.

For the weekend I'm just going with leggings with dresses / long tops over the top which I still easily fit into.

I snuck to Mamas and Papas yesterday and was not surprised to discover that none of the trousers in there remotely fit yet. Think we're probably still 6-8 weeks off fitting any propert maternity gear, so it iwll just have to be a case of making do!

JaquelineHyde · 23/08/2012 13:26

I feel horribly bloated at the moment as well and I'm only 5+6. However, I don't need to worry about clothes as I am massively over weight any way (another reason why I am super worried about these early weeks) but having just lost 6 stone I do have to larger clothes still hanging around so I'm happy. Also no one will notice a little bloating on me Grin

I have the Drs tomorrow just to let them know I have had a bfp, not sure if I will get a midwifes appointment for a good few weeks yet though with me being so early on still.

I bought two play mats and an electric steriliser today for £18 which is a bargain so I'm happy. The only reason I feel happy to buy stuff is because my sister is also pg and she is nearly 12 weeks so if the worst happens to me at least I know she will get some use out of it. Nothing brand new will be bought until 12 weeks.

ednatheeviltelevision · 23/08/2012 14:17

Hi everyone, can I join please? 5+2 (I think 22nd april) and I have a 16 month DD. I got my BFP last week but it's taken me until now to read the whole thread! Xx

MrsTwinks · 23/08/2012 14:37

You're all very brave buying things. So far it's a few books and I will admit to booking nct course as im told our local one gets booked quick (and it's march April and may babies in one). We've decided to go to the baby show as we are both off anyway that week in October, and baby shops are a bit limited IMO locally so want to try out. Won't buy anything till later thou.

Tiny human might already have a massive (private lol) amazon wish list already thou

CamelKnees · 23/08/2012 14:58

Must confess I have just dragged all my maternity stuff pit of the loft from last time. Far too bloated to be comfortable in my normal clothes. Only problem is I can't bloody wear any of it for work as the nosy observant women I work with will recognise it from last time! Grrrr. I hate this early bit where you're trying to hide the bloated non-baby bump

runningmummy67 · 23/08/2012 15:11

By the way I have changed my nickname from clairebec to this one. Due date the same!! 27/4/13. I was thinking why April seems to be such a booming month for pregnancies. Who has been reading 'Fifty Shades of Grey'??? Grin

angeltattoo · 23/08/2012 15:17

bonadea brilliant thank you, am off to buy soem maternity tights/leggings Grin

Welcome newbies!

runningmummy our babies will forever be labelled the 'fifty' baby boom, whether they are or not ;-)

timetomoveon · 23/08/2012 15:39

I'm feeling the bloating too (7+1) and I'm going to try and get some bump bands at the weekend. I wanted to try the hairband trick but you could see when I moved my arm up as my top rode up.

I feel waves of nausea during the day but I'm only sick probably once or twice a day. I just keep eating all the time and that seems to help but it's definitely not helping the bloating seeing as all I want to eat is bread and crisps.

My sister is coming to stay tmrw for the weekend and I'm wondering if I'm going to be able to hide it from her or whether I'm going to have to tell her. I'd rather not but seeing as all I want to do is lie down and/or eat, she might figure it out.

BonaDea · 23/08/2012 15:55

mrsTwinks - you got me, I have also booked NCT. I forgot! I had been warned by friends they get booked up VERY quickly, so I thought I should just bite the bullet...

timeto any way you could tell her you're ill instead either to cancel her and delay or to give an excuse why you're not chipper?
