Hi all! Hope you're all facing a good day. Congrats to those with positive news and welcome to the new ladies! (sorry for lack if name checks, real pain when on phone!)

Well I should be at work today, but am off with DD. she's been ever so slightly off collour and then when we got up this morning she'd developed a few little spots round her mouth sns nose. Was a bit worried she might have measles, (even though she's had the first MMR jab) but apparently she's just s bit run down and got impetigo. Anyway, doc prescribed cream and said should be ok to go to nursery. Phoned nursery and quelle surprise, she can't go in with impetigo! Hmm so DH will have to take the day off tomorrow.

Just on tests, I will (if I get that far) have the NS and other recomended screening. As far as I know, they would only ever suggest the more intrusive testing (CVS or amnio) if your initial NS came back with a high risk factor.

Got booking in on Friday and agree with whoever said about going through all the stuff you've told them fairly recently! I am just going to take my discharge note from DD's delivery and from my MMC and then that saves me having to interpret/remember everything. She can just read it and note it down then! Can't wait for it really, will feel like things are actually moving then, time seems to be going soooo slowly with this pg! Hoping she'll refer me for an early scan, but not holding my breath.

Hope you all have a nice day! Smile

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 31/07/2012 14:10

**facing a good day?! Having a good day! Blimmin' phone. My typing isn't normally this bad...honest!BlushGrin

roteelefant · 31/07/2012 14:32

Ethelred sorry about your DD - poor thing. I always thought you can be around people with impetigo if it was someone where no one was near/touches (eg belly/bum) but else where was a big no no. as it is highly contagious.

congrats on the twins mands and the scan flamingo

Sorry to here if you are going though a hard time.

Had my first consultants apt today. I was impaled on a ski (not my own I should point out - some stupid person who was on the wrong level slope and didn't know what they were doing) when I was 21 and it went though my pelvis. So they have to keep an eye on it thoughout me being pregnant but it does mean I have no option but having a c-sec. Which is sad but then had it been different I wouldn't even be pregnant at all.

But 9+1 today and still no ms so with that I am very happy.

But I am completely knackered - up late shouting to the US and another late night again tonight except this time I have to be all ladylike and businessy. Great. Smile

kirsty80 · 31/07/2012 15:49

hey newcomers and congratulations!

roteelefant I really wouldnt worry too much about the c-section. I had an emergency c-section with my little boy and actually considered asking for one this time around! The doctors were wonderful after my section and cheered when my DS was 'out' they then placed him straight onto me to bond and my recovery was a lot quicker than a lot of my friends natural delevery's! It also means you know exactly when they are coming! Smile

ethelred bloody nurserys eh! they'll do anything they can to not look after our children!! I hope your dd is on the mend soon!

right back to eating mini milks mmmmmmmmm Wink

GummiberryJuice · 31/07/2012 16:17

Hi everyone, still no post for me yet

So glad for all you who have had your scans and have little dancing beans.

I can't remember what else I was going to say, I need some sleep I think before dinner

Vix sounds like you got a better doc, fingers crossed

pinkpeony4 · 31/07/2012 16:41

Hi everyone

Vix - I hope all is Ok and that you are just a little earlier than you thought.

Gummiberryjuice - nice to hear someone else is on number 4. We always wanted 4 too but didn't think it would happen this quickly. The last 3 took between 10 - 12 months to conceive so getting a bfp 2 weeks after having my coil removed was a massive shock! How old are your other dc's? Mine are 5, 3 & 19 months.

Very lovely to hear about happy scans from people. (How do you remember everyones names to do personals? I am new to all this!)

I hope everyone who is feeling sick is managing to cope. After thinking that the Vit B6 was helping I am back to feeling hideous today. Just been out with the children all day and am knackered... I have a fridge full of ginger beer so might try that. One food that is really good for the sickness is Fudge's marmite & cheese crackers, they are delicious and the salt helps for a little bit! Expanding at a huge rate though which is worrying!

Hope everyone else is Ok x

GummiberryJuice · 31/07/2012 17:49

Pinkpeony my dcs are 11, nearly 9 and nearly 6, so I have a big gap this time, so think we have taken everyone by surprise, but I am so looking forward to having this wee one all to myself everyday, actually dd1 will be 12 in March eek sounds like such a big gap, we always wanted 4 but the last few years were hectic and time just seemed to fly by

HaitchJay · 31/07/2012 19:24

Gummi/pink I'm on Dc4 as well! 12,10 & 21 months here.

Rote- I had a planned section with dd3 and it was fantastic. Others were c-sections under GA so not an experience for me really!

anniblue · 31/07/2012 19:40

Hello all,

Can I join in? Found out lastlast week I'm around 6 or 7 weeks, but not sure because my body was doing all sorts around my last cycle.
I don't know many people in the area, and certainly noone in the same position at the moment and I get the impression reading above that this is a really supportive place to be.

Ax

JoJoBella84 · 31/07/2012 20:24

Hello all, lovely to see so many new 'faces'!!

I need to have a rant about today's appointment with the midwife but I'm in a very good mood now and don't want to lower the tone, so when the nausea returns tomorrow morning I'll get it all off my chest.

Had a wonderful evening walk around the little village we'll be living in - got the maps out and went for a 4.5 mile hike. It's a truly beautiful place, in the Aberdeenshire countryside with little farm houses selling eggs and honey :D Bliss !!!

HaitchJay · 31/07/2012 21:06

Hi, Anni.

Sorry to hear about your MW appt jojo.

backwardpossom · 31/07/2012 21:08

Well had a good day today. I booked in with the midwife and she has got me an appointment for an early scan next Tuesday - I didn't even have to ask! Chuffed, but also very nervous about it. There was me thinking I'd have to cry on her to get one. She's so lovely :)

pipsicles · 31/07/2012 21:48

Wow Possum that's great!

Welcome and congratulations to all the newbies - esp Anni - we are a pretty friendly bunch and are always here to listen to moans, gripes concerns and celebrate happy news! I hope we can bridge the gap to help you feel less lonely before you are able to start meeting other mums in your area. I am in a similar position, although I know lots of other mums in other areas, but found with DS that you do make friends very easily during pregnancy and as a new mum! Have you looked at/thought about joining an NCT course to meet other people? I understand they book up pretty quickly. I went down the pg yoga route with DS and ended up with a couple of really good friends, so will probably do the same again this time.

Gummi, I am 12 years older than my brother and always loved having a baby around - my mum found me and my sister (10yrs older than him) very useful! She did find it hard work at times, juggling the very different ages, but has also said that she loved it and like you really enjoyed being able to treasure that time with my brother on her own. He is now 15 years older than my DS and loves him to pieces too, so I'm sure from a sibling point of view, it will all be great - I'm a little envious myself as I would love 4, but DH (atm) has said this is our last :(

Thoughts to MrsRigby and Vix - I really hope we hear good news from you both soon.

We're ready for your rant JoJo!

Off to bed now. Sleep well all!

tiddleypompom · 31/07/2012 21:48

Evening All,

Welcome anni! I second Pipsicles that nct is a great way to meet new friends in the same boat as you.

peony those biccys sound heavenly, I will definitely have to give them a go! I bought 32 bags of wotsits in tesco the other day, got them home and then decided I can't stomach another packet! Good job DH likes them too Smile I had a huge craving for a magnum today and stomped around the office like a mad woman all afternoon, stopped at the shops on the way home and then ate 2 very quickly! Had to lie on m bed feeling very sick after that and for once I don't think it was down to hormones! Ironically my midwife has referred me to a consultant because of my low bmi. Don't think that will be a problem for much longer!

I'm also very envious of those of you on your fourth! I would love 4 but DH only wants 2.

jo jo sorry to hear about your mw appointment, your village sounds absolutely heavenly though! I love rural Scotland.

Hope everyone's tests go well tomorrow, keeping my fngers crossed for you. great news that our mw has organised a scan for you possum

Hope your dd's impetigo clears up soon Ethelred poor thing, at least it's not measles!

Em2010 · 31/07/2012 22:10

Yes tell Pipsicles!! Grin

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 31/07/2012 22:11

tiddley your thread made me laugh!

kirsty80 · 31/07/2012 22:19

Anybody else watch midwives on bbc2?

ThreeForTea · 31/07/2012 22:20

Wow tiddley that was almost written in haiku!

I had a shock today as well (good shock) when my midwife got straight on the phone to hosp and booked me an early scan, just cus I asked! So its Friday and will hopefully give me four weeks extra peace of mind. Patronizing gp I saw when I first tested told me that there was no way I would be able to have one, and that home pg tests were a bad thing as all they did was get women's hopes up!

Has made me feel loads better about facing August at work anyway!

Chefette · 31/07/2012 22:57

Evening greetings all! Back from hols in the box on wheels, managing to avoid the cliched "divorce" with DP as we took 3 hours to put the flaming awning up with a very tired hungry and bored 3yr old! Have to say DP did brilliantly though when we had a caravan tyre blow out on the dualler on the way back last night Bear. Came home to waiting appt letter for 4th sept for NT scan (when I'll be 13.5 wks).

Still no symptoms other than very sore boobs when I take off the old scaffolding and hammock contraption at night. Definitely no cravings either, which all makes me a bit worried and dubious really Confused about the whole thing.

Managed to keep up with most of what's been going on, but pretty hectic it seems! Much hugs to all who have been having troubles and worries, thoughts with you all Flowers.

Welcome to the newbies, and nice to see we are not the newest due thread now!

Although it was nearly 10 yrs ago, can also confess to being in the PhD club. Not really much use to me these days, but I will confess to satisfaction from responding to irritating people on the phone or in shops who ask "now is that Miss or Mrs?" with neither it's Dr........!!!! Blush

Anyway, hope everyone is fine, and the days and nights are treating you all kindly x

Chefette · 31/07/2012 23:00

Oh and yes just watched midwives, it was good!! Worry some and frightening I think too............can't quite believe that'll be us in 7 or so months time give or take!!!!!!!

Sunnymeadows · 31/07/2012 23:04

Mrs rigby and vix so sorry to hear you're both going through worrying times. Fingers crossed for you. Keep on at your Dr, it's so bad they should be supportive.

Had my booking appointment Monday and my midwife is lovely. Was with her about 40mins and got given bounty pack. She didn't take my height, weight or wee sample. Feeling like i would like some confirmation that my home pregnancy tests were correct and Im not just dreaming i am pregnant. DH couldn't get time off work so went with DM. Anyway I've been classed at low risk pg which is nice just looking forward to scan. 7+5 today! 4weeks til my scan. Also told that Im past any chance of ectopic pg which i was worried about. The wife of a guy i used to work with died from ectopic pg so was quite worried tbh.

Hugs to you all x

JoJoBella84 · 31/07/2012 23:09

Sleep does not want to come and after listening to the OH snoring gently to himself for the last hour I've decided to get up, eat a digestive and have my rant... though I will try not to rant too much!

So I turn up at the surgery for my 14.10 mw appt to be told I haven't been booked in and I'm not a patient at their surgery. I pull out my ante natal notes and show the receptionist the correct appointment date and time (written by the mw). The receptionist then told me I have to register at the surgery as I can't be a temporary resident for more than 3 months. "I've been here 5 weeks, will be going back to York in another 5 weeks" I explain helpfully (then spend 10 mins clearing up some error on their system).
The receptionist then tells me that the mw I'm supposed to be seeing who I'm not booked in with is not at the surgery today... cue my OH getting slightly miffed at this point... I'm asked to take a seat and told they will call the mw when she's finished with her patient. We sit down for about half an hour. So the mw comes out to call her next patient in (the same mw who according to the receptionist 'isn't in today'). Problem sorted genuine mistake I'll be next on the list. Great.
Get called in for my appointment - mw can't apologize enough for the mess up and all is fine, she asks if I've received my scan referral yet as there are only 10 days remaining until the NT scan window closes. I tell her I haven't heard anything yet so she calls the unit there and then and is told that my referral hasn't been processed because I'm a temporary resident.
I need to register at the GP surgery and then my referral will be arranged (even the mw is scratching her head in confusion at this little gem of info).
Appt continues as normal, bloods are taken after a bit of a dig around in both arms and I head off to the receptionist to register as a full patient.
"Fill this out and bring with you two forms of ID including a utility bill or letter with your address on it" says the receptionist. My response - "I don't live here, I don't have a utility bill or anything addressed to me at this address, I live in York".
So as it stands I'm not registered in Aberdeen (because I have no address ID - because I don't live here!), I'm being refused a scan because I'm a temporary resident, I'm not under any midwife care in York because I won't be back until September and I could honestly scream.
I have to call the MW on Thursday if I don't hear anything or have anything sorted by then and she will see what she can do so fingers crossed I get things sorted.
I just hope that if I manage to get registered here I'm not denied my 20 weeks scan in York when I return...

Like I said a bit of a rant. Good to get it off my chest though. :)
