Was working all yesterday, 12 hours has never been so long! Mind you it was a lot quieter than it has been recently must be the Olympics!
I don't know whether to book a gp appointment for some bloods doing and get my consultant referral on the way, or just wait until around 8 weeks and just see the mw.
Only a little bit of nausea over the weekend but not overwhelming!
5 weeks today yay!

WingDefence · 30/07/2012 10:30

Morning all - MrsRigby I really hope it isn't a MMC as you know every pregnancy is different. Don't stress if you think the house is a tip - it's the summer holidays so give yourself a break and try to relax.

And you could always tell the EPU that you have been bleeding so you need an urgent appt but it has stopped by the time you get there...?

I rang my Dr for an appt with my GP this morning and the first time I could get was 9:40 on Thursday. I feel like GPs take the mick sometimes... I know it's not exactly urgent but what if it was? Angry

JoJoBella84 · 30/07/2012 10:51

wingdefence I know how you feel, I'm not registered with a gp in Aberdeen as I'm registered in York. What a messing about! "oh, you don't live in the area but you're staying for 3 months?? Well, I'll have to register you as a temporary resident" - (like it's some hardship)!! Then "I don't know what you'd do in this situation and no I can't find out for you or I don't want to find out for you!!
That said - things weren't much better when uncalled my normal gp!! " you've seen a midwife in Aberdeen? I'm not sure if you need to see a midwife here then - we might have to give you another booking appt"!!
Ah well. As long as I turn up at a random hospital with a birth plan I'm sure all will be well :)

WingDefence · 30/07/2012 11:25

JoJo, a fair number of heavily pg women turn up at hospital in the SE from other countries without ever having seen a GP and they still get access to maternity services so your plan will work fine! Wink

JoJoBella84 · 30/07/2012 11:31

Ah goody!!

Okay ladies I have a new pg symptom/craving which shows off the quirky side of my brain beautifully!!
I love Muller Corner yogurts - no other will do! However I only want the plain yogurt part, not the compote. Despite this I refuse to have the cherry one! Even though I won't be eating the fruit... Luckily the OH loves the cherry ones!

MrsRigby · 30/07/2012 11:32

The GP has just telephoned back and has agreed to do a blood HCG test! He asked if I could get to the surgery before 12noon, but DH said he wouldn't be able to come home to look after the boys. So instead I'm going at 9.30am tomorrow morning and will probably find out Wednesday afternoon.

I'm not sure if he's just going to do 1 test or a serial HCG, to the best of my knowledge he wouldn't be able to tell I was miscarrying unless he did a serial test.

Googling HCG level at 6 weeks pregnant...

shieldbug · 30/07/2012 11:42

MrsRigby Good news about the tests. At least you won't be in limbo for much longer. So hoping for positive results and a happy healthy bean.

gummi postie's just been and no letter. Oh well, perhaps they'll call today (eternal optimist icon).

JoJo that's truly random, I'm sure you'll be pleased to hear! Wish you hadn't mentioned cherry corners though as I want one now.

Vixjane · 30/07/2012 11:54

MrsRigby i totally get where you are at the moment, i too am 6 weeks today and due on 25 March 2013. I started bleeding on Friday, rang the EPU but they wouldn't see me without a referral, rang the doctors and it was an hour before someone rang me back! The doctor wouldn't refer me as he said it was too early for a scan to show anything useful, i then went in to the doctors for HCG blood test at Friday lunchtime and they said to come back on Weds for another one for comparison.

I have been swinging from everything will be fine to that it's i'm about to mc.

I can't give you an answer but all i can say is that you are not alone in this.

Here's to lots of positive thinking that we can both keep our beans!
Vix x

MrsRigby · 30/07/2012 12:15

vixjane I'm so sorry. I don't mean to sound cruel saying this, but its comforting knowing that someone else is going through the same thing at exactely the same time as me, we're the same amount of weeks and due the same date too. I really hope the bleeding turns out to be nothing. Sounds like I've been lucky with my GP. Its discusting that women are basically left to miscarry and GP's and hospitals don't care. I would have thought as you were bleeding that they would scan you at the very least. That's discusting, I'm so sorry.

My hospital said they'd only see me/scan me if I was bleeding - laughable.

I've got my fingers crossed for you that your level is where it should be on Wednesday.

According to Google at 6 weeks there should be between 1,080 -56,500 mlU/ml of hCG in the blood.

Thank god for Google and Mumsnet.

My fingers are crossed for us both. Good luck xxx

Rainbowbabyhope · 30/07/2012 12:21

MrsRigby, Vixjane and anyone else going through worrying times - just wanted to say that I am thinking of you and hoping for good outcomes. I know how hard the uncertainty and constant worry is and my heart goes out to you x

KFFOREVER · 30/07/2012 12:26

Hi everyone, hope you all had a good weekend Sorry for my moany post yesterday about being ill. I feel guilty for complaining about sickness when some of you have been worrying about possible mc. I came home from work because unwell and I have armed myself with ginger biscuits to see if they help.

vix and rigby- Im thinking of both of you. Hope you both keep on to your beans. Make sure you rest loads.

Vixjane · 30/07/2012 12:56

I think it's a case of if it was a mc there's nothing they can do about it by rushing you in, it's so early in the pregnancy that the body will do what it thinks is right.

I was very upset on Friday but have calmed down a lot and am now in the 'whatever wil be' stage as no one is able to change the outcome.

I've been resting all weekend and am in work this week which i think is a good thing as it's keeping my mind mostly occupied and i don't have to be out and about too much this week. I have told my boss and colleague about it all as they needed to know for H&S (i kinda work in construction so can end up on work sites etc!) so at least it's not gonna be a compete shock if i have to take some sick leave. Need to ring the docs for the results of Fridays blood tests so will let you all know!

MrsRigby we'll get through this!

Thanks to everyone else for kind words and thoughts

Vix x

Vixjane · 30/07/2012 13:43

grrr...just rung the docs and nurse said that all my notes say is 'no further action required'!! i explained i was having my hcg level monitored and due in again on Weds and she said she would have to get a doctor to give me a call back. Not sure if it's good or bad news!

Lexiindisguise · 30/07/2012 13:53

Vixjane don't know if you want to go & sit in A&E, but my midwife told me any sign of fresh blood before 24 weeks, go straight to A&E. They then referred me straight to the EPU. Might be worth a go if docs being unhelpful? Hope all is Ok x x

MrsRigby · 30/07/2012 14:20

vixjane that's awful, but not suprising after 8 years working for the NHS. Doesn't she understand how worried you are and what you're going through? What the bloody hell does no further action mean? Sorry but it really makes me angry the way GPs and hospitals treat women who are miscarrying or suspected miscarrying. They have more bloody compassion for women seeking abortions. I hope the GP gets back to you today with the results, the way you're being treated is appaling - you should be in the EPU having a scan.

I agree with lexiindisguise try A&E

GummiberryJuice · 30/07/2012 14:20

Vix and Rigby I really hope everything is ok, wish it was easier for you both to see someone and get some reassurance

shield still no letter here either, my friend said it took her letter a couple of weeks to come after she went to gp, so fingers crossed this week.
I studied microbiology at uni, I can't even imagine being in a lab at the minute the way I feel.

I can't remember who said their dm has told everyone, everyone knows our news too, we are no good with secrets

tiddleypompom · 30/07/2012 14:34

Hello everyone! Writing to you from halfway out of the window in my new bedroom whilst I should be having a rest - but was too excited to find out I have signal (of sorts) to allow me a thread catch up. Which took ages.

mrsrigby and vixjane I was dismayed to hear you are both going through such a tough, upsetting & uncertain time. I join the troops in keeping my fingers and toes crossed for a happy result for you both. Meantime I hope the care you receive improves...

jojo congratulations on your wedding preps - did you suspect at Christmas last year that this one would be so momentous?! manda good luck with the book - though how you are supposed to concentrate at the moment is beyond me! Sounds like most are starting to manage/get used to the less pleasant symptoms - though we are all knackered, yes?!

Out of my window I can see a very English countryside view of a valley and hills covered in a patchwork of arable crops. There is a family of house martins in our rafters & swifts in the barn. A daily walk to collect bread & a paper takes us past the ruins of an old castle on a hill & over a stone bridge where DS throws pooh sticks. Idyllic. Conversely I am knee deep deep in boxes, I hate most of the decoration, the washing machine has flooded & we can't fit our wardrobe into our bedroom. The lust of 'urgent' jobs is longer than my DH has off work :)

Can join the ranks of the shattered but ms considerably better. If it wasn't for the embarrassingly distended tummy (think 20wks plus) I would fear I wasn't pregnant. Not long now to find out - 12 wk scan on 16th Aug.

Thinking of you all but vix and rigby especially.

pinkpeony4 · 30/07/2012 15:35

Hi there

I was wondering whether I can join too? My due date is 2/3/12 and this is dc4..! (still very shocked and scared as to how I will cope but hopefully all will be Ok)

I got pregnant very quickly after having my mirena coil removed and so had a dating scan at 7+2 and saw a lovely little bean with a heartbeat. It already seems like ages ago though so hopefully everything is still ok. I have been feeling horrific. My other 3 pregnancies were all sickness free so it was a massive shock! I started taking 50mg vitamin B6 on Friday and have amazingly felt so much less nauseous since then. I would really recommend it. I was sceptical but happy to try anything.

I hope everyone else is ok.

WingDefence · 30/07/2012 15:53

Welcome Pink! I think that means I'm not the newest newbie now Torch Grin

Tiddley that does sound lovely :) I live in a rural area too in a newer house but our walk into the village takes us down a country lane/road that has a babbling brook on one side and wooded hills on the other. We moved up here from South London last year. Better for my sanity!

FX for Vix as well as MrsR.

Vixjane · 30/07/2012 16:15

Hcg came back at 159 so things are not looking good folks

Lexiindisguise · 30/07/2012 16:36

Sorry to hear it Vix
Gummi it was me whose DM had told everyone, I wouldn't mind but I'm quite good at keeping secrets! Wink she's just over the moon, think she had given up on me being a mum - hope I don't let her down!
tiddley sounds gorgeous, but don't try to do too much! Wink

WingDefence · 30/07/2012 17:13

Vix that's really sad :( Take care x

GummiberryJuice · 30/07/2012 17:36

[Sad] vix I'm really sorry hope you have plenty of support

tiddely first visions of you loitering at local to use WiFi now hanging out the window, sounds lovely, did giggle at the lust

lexi my reasoning is if something were to happen people will find out anyway so they might aswell join in with the good news

pinkpeony welcome I'm on no 4 too, always wanted 4 but now I can't quite believe it

JoJoBella84 · 30/07/2012 19:05
