Kirsty fabulous news that your bean is ok.

Thanks all for advice. I may call the gp on Monday, but tbh I've just accepted it now. One fibroid was over 12cm in diameter last time and they're expected to get larger ths time round, so I suppose some abdominal expansion is to be expected! I still feel fine. Hope it's not twins though-don't think I've got enough room in me!

MrsRigby · 28/07/2012 21:24

shimmy and mandasand DH has also mentioned the v word Sad

JoJo DH and I got married 6 years ago this September at Sharrow Bay Country House Hotel. We rented out the whole of Bank House for 2 days and had a simple non religious ceremony infront of DH father and step mother, 3 sisters, their partners and 3 of DH friends. 11 people in total. I wore a dress, we had a cake and a vegetarian wedding breakfast. We were engaged new year 2006 and married September 2006. I would say simple and no frills is the way to go. The only thing I would change is getting the mother-in-law to lace up my dress. The cow didn't do it up properly so my breasts were overflowing - think Pride and Predujuce (I know I spelt that wrong). I would most definately get married before the baby arrives. That said, I can remember begging DH for a child after he refused to marry me!

shieldbug LMP. I'm almost 6 weeks pregnant and my tummy has grown that big that I'm now in need of maternity trousers.

hermione and randomswitch hello fellow veggies Grin Protien not a promblem, loads of Quorn, beans, pulses and eggs eaten here. However, as with DS2 I could murder for a roast chicken Shock and I mean a whole one pulled apart with my hands and eaten like an uncivilised person Sad

kirsty80 bloody brilliant news, really happy for you Grin

pipsicles · 28/07/2012 22:00

Evening ladies! Sorry for not responding to any posts for the last week - we're on our summer holidays now and it seems harder than usual to read and keep up with everyone. I've read back a little bit and have managed to gather that we've had a couple of successful scans and a potential September wedding! All sounds exciting to me and congratulations to all! I'm hoping all are well and I'll try to catch up with everything I've missed if I can.

I had my booking in appt on Thursday and even though it was a completely different drs in a different area, the midwife was the same as with DS because she was covering my actual mw who was sick that day! I'm taking it as a superstitious positive sign that all will be well this time! All went well and we had a good old chat during it all, which was great. She is keen for me to have a home birth this time, as everything ran so smoothly for me before and I think I am quite excited about the prospect!!! Anyone else thinking of doing the same, or have personal experience - good or bad?!

We've decided that now we are 8weeks and my symptoms are nice (Confused) and strong, to give our little bean a name. We've settled on Stitch because I was sent to EPU at 6wks with a stitch-like pain and I'm driving myself crazy counting the stitches on my knitting for his/her blanket, so it seemed to work for us. Plus, that Disney film with the little alien called Stitch is a pretty cool dude and DH still insists that it looks like an alien too! :) any other 'official' names for the little beans yet?

Hope you're all having a good weekend - I'm about to hit the sack - how things change!

JoJoBella84 · 28/07/2012 22:43

Thanks ladies :) I spoke to OH tonight and we've decided that there is just too much going on with my upcoming exam, house move and building work, and baby growing!
We've told the world the good news! Given that I'm supposed to be 12 weeks tomorrow! It's nice not having to hide symptoms etc now!!

I'll catch up with everyone's posts tomorrow but hope that all weekends are so far stress free :)

MrsRigby · 28/07/2012 22:51

pipsicles yes, I very almost had a homebirth with DS1 & 2, but both times the contractions weren't strong enough and they transferred me to hospital as the babies heart rates were slowing. I will, if all goes well with this pregnancy be having a home birth this time. With DS2 I was at home at 10cm, not knowing I was in labour until the midwife asked did I feel like pushing. My waters broke on the couch I'm sitting on now and very almost I had a homebirth. Almost, alas next time fingers crossed.

mandasand · 28/07/2012 23:20

Thanks for the advice re last night's illness, sneeze. been fine today, apart from cramps (again, womb area). They come and go, but I do get quite a few of phases of them each day. Today I had to walk slowly and quite gingerly for a mile or so -- anyone get them this bad? Maybe because it's twins my womb has to do double the stretching?!

Thanks for the book tip, JoJo! Sounds like a good one. Twelve weeks tomorrow! What a great milestone! Sounds like you've made a sensible choice re wedding. But just to waffle on (as I've been thinking about it today!) ? on dresses, I got a simple but very pretty knee-length A-line dress from Phase Eight (£60 in the sale!), teamed it with high matching shoes from Debenhams and an elbow-length veil ordered online. It worked beautifully (amazingly!) although the only time I tried the outfit on together was on the day! (It was a bit hectic as f-in-law actually sadly died a few days before so we had to head north with all the wedding stuff much earlier than planned). One thing I would have loved is to have the food in a friend's big garden. I always love events like that. Really personal.

random thanks for the wedding anniversary wishes! we had a lovely day by the seaside! I'm veggie too and trying to eat a bit more cheese than normal for protein. (There is protein in cheese, right?!)

kirsty really glad things are okay! really good news - thanks for sharing Smile hope you've enjoyed your relaxing evening!

pipsicles your appt sounds good, and nice about the possible home birth! DH and I call the little beans all sorts of names. Bartholomew and Mildred being current favourites. Though Terry and June, and Kenneth and Sid cropped up today. We have got some real names in store but not the four we need (as we are thinking of leaving the gender a surprise till the birth!) Stitch is a cute and lovely nickname.

MrsRigby · 29/07/2012 08:14

Morning Smile

Woke up and I don't feel as big as I have done, feel even less pregnant and have convinced myself that it's only a matter of time. The cramping seems to have subsided too. To add to this, DH is being grumpy again and taking it out on me, I think it's his time of the month Sad.

mandasand do you know you pregnant with twins or is it just a feeling? I ask because I've been having really strong cramping since I found out I was pregnant. I've Googled the cramping and it seems its natural for a twin pregnancy.

random another veggie - yey! Yes, their is protein in cheese and calcium.

WingDefence · 29/07/2012 08:14

Morning everyone - can I join?! I was v active on the Just Shagging thread and know Manda from there - double congrats on twins Manda!!

I got my BFP yesterday morning on a cheapy Internet thing and have just done a Clearnlie digital which says 2-3 weeks so 4-5 weeka gone although by my dates I'm 5 weeks and EDD 30/3/13. I'm 35 have a DS 3.5 and we live in the Ribble Valley.

Er, anything else needed?! I'm a bit paranoid about MC even though I've not before because I know the stats at 35+. I haven't told DH his but I shall be rationing sex in the next few weeks just in case!

MrsRigby · 29/07/2012 08:21

Welcome WingDefence and congratulations Grin

You really couldn't be more paranoid than me and don't feel bad about rationing DH as I've told DH nothing is happening until I'm in the second trimester! Also not going the gym or getting a wax just in case - in serious need of the latter though!

mandasand · 29/07/2012 08:23

Hey wingdefence, I've been waiting with bated breath for another Just Shagger to join us! Woop, CONGRATULATIONS on your BFP! Yay! Lovely to have you on board. It's a very nice thread indeed Smile If you like you can add your dates etc to the stats thread.

If it's any consolation re risk of miscarriage post-35, I had my scan last week (where I found out I was carrying twins, mrsrigby!) and she dated me at just over 8 weeks and once you get to that stage, she said, the risk of miscarriage drops from 20% to 2%, despite my grand old age! That made me feel a whole lot better. Smile

kirsty80 · 29/07/2012 08:37

Welcome wing defence you are in very safe hands on this thread!

mrs rigby I remember with my dc1 not having any symptoms whatsoever and looking forward to my 12 week scan just to confirm to myself that I wasn't a fraud! Every pregnancy is different and with this one I'm getting everything... I think we just need to try as hard as we can to think positively and send lots of love to our beans to help them grow!

I hope everyone is planning a relaxing Sunday filled with roast dinners and lots of naps -here's hoping eh!! Hmm x

WingDefence · 29/07/2012 09:11

Right, stats added. With DS his EDD was 2/1/09 but he arrived in the December. As I'm also on the cusp of a month here, not sure whether I should join the April group too, but I'll always be one of the last or first due in either group! Confused

Manda I've just thought, I namechanged in JSing and I'm not sure if you had already got your BFP by then. I was south[rest of name censored otherwise no point in namechanging!]

Thanks Kirsty. Glad to hear your pg is going well after your scare upthread. I actually had brown/v v dark red bleeding for 4 days when AF was due a week and a half ago. But because it never turned into anything, I POAS and here I am :)

MrsRigby with DS I didn't get morning sickness but I did get vertigo/dizzy quite a lot, especially after eating in the evenings, which was annoying as we were still going out and about to gigs and meals in London (aka living the carefree life of the childless!). I'm definitely getting dizzy/queasy this time round but I don't mind Grin

Right, better get dressed for church. Thanks again for your welcome!

MrsRigby · 29/07/2012 09:43

Did I say the cramping had subsided? It's back again and weirdly comforting Confused

Off to Mothercare soon for maternity pants.

kirsty80 you can't not have a roast on a Sunday. If it was up to me we'd have them every day of the week!

mandasand twins, wow. I'd absolutely love twins and hope this is what the cramping is because of.

randomswitch · 29/07/2012 10:12

Mandas, TWINSSS!!!! How exciting! . Congratulations! And thanks for the top tip about mc dropping to 2 percent even for us over 35s. I've been offered a scan at 8 weeks so I'll feel much reassured thanks to you if all is okay at this. : )

MrsRigby, I do hope all goes okay with you. As Kirsty says all pregnancies are different. Nice to know there are other veggies out there. Cheese isn't an option for me at the moment as I've gone off salty food, much to DHs chagrin!

newyearsday · 29/07/2012 10:23

Pips I'd like to have a homebirth this time. I tried for my 1st, laboured at home for 24hrs, was in the living room birth pool for much of it but unfortunately ds was b2b, stuck very high up, and my ctx weren't regular/effective enough to move him down, so I transferred in and had a traumatic experience in the hands of a 'stressed out' registrar, which ended in a emcs. I have refused to go back to the Delivery Unit where it all happened and I assume because I'm now labelled high risk I won't be 'allowed' in the new mwlu, so homebirth looks like my only choice. I'd like to get a doula or IM this time so I have some continuity of care. Go for it!

mrsrigby I'm sure it'll be third time lucky for you with the homebirth. I dream of getting to 10cm, only managed 4cm last time! Wink

Our little embryo is called 'chickpea', DH named it and it's stuck. I'm convinced it's a another boy. I think we'll find out at 20wks cos I'm very impatient! And it might help DS's understanding if we can say 'your little brother' (or sister!).

HaitchJay · 29/07/2012 10:43

I seem to get more nervous about miscarriage with every pregnancy.
I'm getting a lot of aches this weekend but think its probably scar stretching & I had it last time too. Just a bit concerned about baby being smaller than I expected although was still within my approx dates but it means I was having symptoms at 3 weeks. Which again isnt massively abnormal.

I don't find out what I'm having as with having a section I need some surprise. A girl would help with bedr

HaitchJay · 29/07/2012 10:46

Sorry posted instead of return Blush

Girl would help with bedroom/hand me downs but a boy would be nice to finish us off as this is my last :(

V impatient for the next scan as I should be 9 weeks and easily visible.

mandasand · 29/07/2012 11:08

Thanks, random, it is pretty exciting, but I'm trying really hard (not always succeeding) not to get too anxious about the extra difficulties of feeding/sleeping etc. Or the cost! Or being able to move after 28 weeks! I'm not sure on what criteria the doctor judged us to be at only 2% risk of MC; certainly everything was within normal range (size of the sacs, size of babies, heart beats etc). Make sure you walk out of there with a reassuring statistic, too!

And v. nice to have so many veggies on the thread!

Yes, I remember your name-change, wingdefence - think it was shortly before I departed :-) there are some other JSers who it would be nice to encourage on here, but I've lost track of their due dates and maybe they are on the Jan or even Feb thread.

MrsRigby · 29/07/2012 13:24

Back from shopping. After 3 Mothercares and a Mama and Papas I've finally got a pair of maternity jeans, though not work trousers. I highly reccommend the Warrington branch of Mothercare.

Growing more concerned by the second here. I'm still experiencing the cramping, but my tummy feels empty. Since I found out I was pregnant I've constantly felt heavy/full/bloated. Still, I didn't have any pregnancy symptoms with the last 3 and 2 of those ended well so I guess no pregnancy symptoms is normal for me and I should count myself lucky.

I've no idea why I'm being like this, it's not like I'm a first timer, this will be my 4th.

Right, I'm going to have some lunch and give myself a good talking too.

KFFOREVER · 29/07/2012 13:25

Hi everyone

Well the sun has disappeared and thunder/rain has made an appearance. My sickness came back with a vengence since friday and I feel awful again. I see from some posts some are having cravings but im not having any. Eating has become a big chore for me which is veryyyyy unusual. However, when I don't eat I feel worse. Sorry just wanted a bit of a moan.

I got my booking appointment for 22nd August. Although Im worried that its a bit late I would 11 1/2 weeks by then but I should be having a scan around that time. How many weeks were you ladies when you had your booking appointment? Im hoping to go on holiday for the first 2 weeks of September and I have a feeling they will give me a scan during that period.

TinkerBellaFlora · 29/07/2012 13:29

Hi all, hope you're having a lovely sunday. Just popping in to let you know I had the scan yesterday and saw a 6w6d wee one (one day out from what I'd guessed) in the right place and with a flickering heart beat. Was lovely, now got to tough it out until 3rd September for the 12 week scan (hold on in their little one)!

Also welcome wingdefence and thank goodness for the good news kirsty!

TinkerBellaFlora · 29/07/2012 13:31

there... Must proof read then post Blush

HaitchJay · 29/07/2012 13:35

KF they don't do booking appts here until appeox 12 weeks but the scan referral goes in at same point as the MW/consultant referral so they come at the right time.

MrsRigby · 29/07/2012 14:47

KFFOREVER you moan away, it's nice to hear someone other than myself moaning for a change! My booking appointment is on 17th August by which time I'll be 8 weeks pregnant, not expecting a scan until sometime in September.

TinkaBellaFlora that's great news Grin

shieldbug · 29/07/2012 16:07

It's great to hear of so many successful scans. Congratulations all round! I'm seriously Envy as I still haven't even heard about my booking appt. I know I'm just 6 weeks on Monday, but since I'm going to be under consultant care and supposedly fast-tracked into the system, I thought I would have had some contact by now. Oh well. Patience never was my virtue.
