Nuchal scan measurement - advice wanted?

Hi all,

I am 11weeks 2 days and 36yrs old, I had a scan today and the measurement was 2.9. They also took bloods and told me they will combine the results and let me know whether I'm high or low risk. The thing is, I have seen that 2.9mm is considered high - is that correct or once combined with my blood results, could it come back different?? I asked the sonographer for the reading and she told me it was 2.7 so not sure why it says 2.9 on my form unless they have maybe taken lots of reading and just give the highest one? Does anyone have any advice?

thanks

x

Just noticed your post and thought I would chip in what I know! I am no expert, but I had my 12 week scan yesterday too (I'm the same age as you too!). The midwife told me they are looking for a measurement under 3.5mm, but I do know you can't interpret the measurement in isolation without the blood test. Hopefully there is nothing to worry about based on what my MW said, but I suppose you will have to wait for the results from the lab.

I hope all is well with your baby and congratulations on your pregnancy!

thanks genericdietcola - that is reassuring, sometimes I feel knowledge isn't power :) I will just need to wait and see what comes back and lots of luck to you too! x
