I'm 22 weeks tomorrow. Can't wait to make it to 24 because I know then that if something were to happen the doctors have to do everything they can to save the baby. Fingers crossed we will all go to 38 weeks plus though.

I bought a pair of swimming trunks online which arrived today. They are adorable. I plan on taking the baby as soon as possible after he's born. Neither of my parents swim and I found it a real struggle to learn because they never took me swimming so I don't want the same for my baby. I want to take him when he's tiny so he gets used to being in water.

My whole body just aches today. I couldn't wait to get home and change into some comfy clothes. So glad I'm off now until monday.

Catbag · 12/07/2012 18:41

I'm due 12th November, but as it's twins, we can expect them to put in an appearance in October sometime, I think. Also, all of my kids have come 'early'- the singletons came two and half and two weeks early respectively and my previous twins were about 34 weeks/ almost 35 when actually born (I went into labour at 33 wks)

Like ValiumQueen said, it's not an exact science. Some babies just seem ready earlier than others. My MIL is convinced that she did an actual 44 week pregnancy, but I'm not sure about that Hmm

ValiumQueen · 12/07/2012 18:43

I forgot about the twins too. They always come early.

GTbaby · 12/07/2012 18:47

I was given date for 1november. But scan changed date to 28th October. But I Keep telling everyone 1 nov Incase baby is late.

Are we crazy to we considering taking our fraggle to India in march? 5months old? The weather will be mild. However being a teacher it is the only opportunity we will get to go off peak wen weather is not extreme hot in august or very cold at Xmas.

misslaughalot · 12/07/2012 18:48

Hi all, haven't posted for ages but have been trying to catch up each day. Just had my last really busy week at work, I'll mainly be doing office days from now on (based at home) rather than being out and about which is fab.

Can i thank whoever recommended men's pyjama bottoms?! I got some from Asda yesterday and they are SO comfortable, plus they have pockets!

Chunky we're due on the same day and I've been saying its mid-November, I guess it just feels like it to me. My bump is properly prominent now, even had people commenting on it at my training session today which was nice (good to know they understand I'm preggo and not just fat anyway!)

applepieinthesky · 12/07/2012 18:52

catbag My brother's girlfriend was due on about the 4th of august apparently and arrived on the 29th.

LittleLolly · 12/07/2012 20:04

I've just popped into M&S and they have a fab sale on. Got a huge bag full of things for £36! There was a lot more in store than online.

SwissArmyWife · 12/07/2012 20:30

misslaugh I recommended men's pyjama bottoms a while ago, they're fab aren't they?? I own two pairs of XL ones from Tesco and they're the best PJ bottoms i've ever bought! Why do men get all the comfy clothes?

Had my physio app, didn't have to strip off thank god, got to keep my top on so was fine with that. I have officially been told to sit down and rest as much as possible now, and DP is taking it very seriously, which he hasn't really been doing for the past 5 months. Of course now the Dr has ordered me not to do anything.... Hmm

Saw my brother today aswell and he gave me a 12 piece set of some baby clothes - all plain white, so i'm going to get my sister to tie dye them all for me Grin Shall be interesting to see the results!

horseylady · 12/07/2012 20:38

TheDetective · 12/07/2012 22:02

Fuck fuck fuck fuck. I'm having tightenings. They are uncomfortable, like period pain. Had them for a couple of hours - have had them before but they usual settle down quickly and are just pressure as opposed to painful.

I'm timing them. I think they are every 2 minutes. Fuuuuuuuuck. I'm 23+5. Think its gonna be a shit night.

Kyzordz · 12/07/2012 22:03

Just a quickie cos I'm on my phone, but has anyone else got really dry skin on their bump? Mine is terrible and can br quite itchy. I'm thinking of investing in a decent moisturiser, I've seen a few aimed at mums to be but I've no idea which one to go for, does anyone use anything that they can recommend? Thanks in advance :)

Kyzordz · 12/07/2012 22:06

thedetective do you think it might be worth ringing someone to put your mind at ease? Could it be those braxton hicks or are they not like that? Sorry I'm useless, I just didn't want to read and not reply when you're obviously stressing :(

WestWinger · 12/07/2012 22:11

detective hope you are ok. Think you ought to go and get checked out though asap. If its nothing, then the peace of mind will be worth it.

kissyfur · 12/07/2012 22:13

thedetective definitely give the midwife at your hospital a ring for some reassurance. Hope you're alright and that they settle down

CandyPop · 12/07/2012 22:19

kyzordz I've been getting itchy stomach on and off since 12 weeks ! In fact I got a rash earlier on . I've just keep moisturising everyday and when the itching was bad I used calamine lotion. Also bought pine tar soap bar off Internet. Highly recommended for pregnancy rashes and itches!!

Currently I'm suffering from very itchy boobs!! So much do that during work, I have to pop to the loos to get them out I have a good old scratch !! Very attractive !! Seems that copious amount of moisturiser isn't really doing much for the boobs :(

TheDetective · 12/07/2012 22:19

They are palpable and uncomfortable, however I know what the advice will be on the phone, so doing that first, and if they don't settle, I will ring. They aren't regular, 1-2-3:10 so that's good.

Chunkychicken · 12/07/2012 22:19

Kyzordz just use any moisturiser you like the smell of & sinks in quickly - the mum-to-be ones are no different to normal ones and often just pricier. However, your skin can be more sensitive, so a hyperallergenic one might be a good idea. Personally, I have used an AVENT stretch mark cream and Palmers stretch mark cream. Neither are particularly expensive, but I didn't get any stretch marks & it helped with the itching with DD, so who knows?

Detective I hope that, in the nicest possible way, its just a bit of pg paranoia and all is well very soon.

TheDetective · 12/07/2012 22:21

Me too chunky! Mind is in overdrive, but trying to relax... paracetomol has been consumed, and going to relax in the bath while they hopefully work.

blonderthanred · 12/07/2012 22:32

Thinking of you Detective. I had a strange tightening a few weeks ago which was really painful and scary. The midwife thought it might be a spasm caused by the tummy muscles separating as the baby went through a growth spurt. Hopefully it's something like that.

For the stat-collection, I am 23+2 and due on 6 Nov.

Chunkychicken · 12/07/2012 22:35

Bath sounds like a good idea. Get a book & chill... :)

applepieinthesky · 12/07/2012 22:35

Hopefully it will settle down soon Detective but if not don't hesitate to give the hospital a call.

Passmethecrisps · 12/07/2012 22:42

Evening, hope you're all good Detective. It must be tough being a midwife.

I booked my slot for the Next sale so I coudl check the stock. In baby wear there was 1 sleepsuit and in nursery there was a pair of curtains. No sale shopping for me!

YellowWellies · 12/07/2012 22:50

I've had tightenings too earlier this week, but they seem to have gone away now. Was in pain with tummy ligaments earlier so I think it might have been to do with that. Worked from home yesterday to give myself a rest (fridge browsing time and no walk up the sodding steep hill to my office) and all fine now. Fingers crossed yours is just growing pains Detective. Am sure it is hon.

As for travel - I asked our midwife about this as we are hemming and hawing about what to do at Christmas. If we go south to family it's two hour long flights and probably a couple of hours at the airport in between flights. Apparently it's just not safe for a baby that can't support it's own head to be in a car seat for longer than an hour as it compresses their wind pipe. So MissMummy I think a flight to the med' would be out of the picture at two months. You're a kinder woman than me to even consider letting DH on a holiday on his tod whilst stuck at home with a small, screamy, incontinent person! Heheehehehe if DH suggested that I think I'd keel over giggling!!!

FatimaLovesBread · 12/07/2012 22:51

Sorry Pass I probably bought it all last night Grin
Got 2x 3 sleepsuits, 2 romper sets with hats, 2 dungarees with top, 5 vests and some hats, socks and bibs and stuff. I think they keep most of the children's back for the in store sale though

TheDetective · 13/07/2012 02:32

Home... been to labour ward. Midwives were lovely, doctor rude, as per usual!

Pain is worse, paracetomol did bog all, had some bits in my urine, sample sent. Had some more brown pv loss while there. Speculum showed nothing. Doctor said stretching pains. I'm not thick, they aren't stretching pains, I've had those many times! These are tightenings. I think its probably an infection brewing. So did the midwives who I saw.

Just going to bed, and will relax. Baby very fidgety tonight... typical.
