Cassius is cool! Thank you for the feedback. We have a few weeks left to decide.

Having fun taking the first furtive steps towards potty training DD2. I put her on the potty after her bath, she then goes into her sisters room and weeks on her carpet. This has happened a few times. Thinking of putting the potty in her sisters room. Just starting out gradually. I am not one of these brave mums who can just leave the nappy off and mop up as it goes. She is however taking her nappy off frequently, so may well have that forced upon me soon!

Welcome kissyfur love the name. Not suitable for a boy though eh?

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/07/2012 16:40

Oh I forgot to say, dh felt the baby move last fri while we were on the beach in Spain. About 3 or 4 really big kicks he was really pleased, quite early for him to feel it I was only just gone 20 weeks then.

MissMummy1 · 09/07/2012 16:47

Silas - I like it.

So glad everything went okay with the scan MrsWee. I'm beginning to think I must have an anterior placenta as well as really not feeling much. Woke up really sore again this morning - that combined with the unwelcome return of the dreaded ms made me take a day off work. DH's adamant I'm pulling muscles by moving around so much in my sleep. Might need to invest in a body pillow. Only four days till scan now though and junior's heartbeat was pounding away on the doppler this morning (only used it a handful of times but each time a real worry-saver!)

Re Fifty Shades. DH bought me the series to read as I'm all caught up on work and finding myself having to sit down and rest a lot in the evenings. It's craply written and I'm still not getting into it at the end of the first book. Maybe it's just me? Anyway, caught DH reading over my shoulder this morning - worrying. He better not get any ideas, the only intimacy I'm interested in right now is a quick cuddle at bedtime... in comfy, frumpy pyjamas!!!

applepieinthesky · 09/07/2012 17:09

Baby is moving loads today. It's the most I've ever felt him Smile

I may have to invest in one of those pregnancy pillows as well because I'm the same, moving around so much in the night that I feel knackered in the mornings.

DesperateHousewife21 · 09/07/2012 17:52

I've got the fifty shades series, read the first one during the hol (my parents came with us so sex was limited, which make me want it more which was only made more frustrating by reading a book filled with porn!)

I've just started the second book, tbh I don't care about the characters or who she ends up with. I just like reading the sex bits!

Catbag · 09/07/2012 18:08

Lol, I skipped through all the sex so ended up only reading four pages in every ten! It's written very badly, but fair play to the woman, she can probably retire now :)

kissyfur · 09/07/2012 18:33

Hiya Smile my due date is 19th november! Had scans on Friday and all looked well Grin been feeling a lot stronger kicks over the weekend too! Also been reading 50 shades Blush - on the darker book now - agree it's not v well written but the rude bits have helped me persevere Wink

ShellyBobbs · 09/07/2012 18:47

Well done on all the good scan news.

Welcome Kissyfur :)

kissyfur · 09/07/2012 18:58

Hi Valium, not 100% sure you meant me but kissyfur is just my mumsnet name Smile anyone remember the cartoon from Saturday morning tv?

ValiumQueen · 09/07/2012 19:07

kissyfur I have a bit of a one track mind at the moment trying to find a name for DS. Your name is really sweet and snugly sounding - unaware of any TV character. Was just meaning it would not be a contender for DS.

daisychain76 · 09/07/2012 19:23

Good news on all the scans and hi kissyfur. I am another one who likes Silas - also like Si, as a nickname, which I guess is what it'd be shortened to.

Good luck with the potty training valium. With my DD we ended up having a "nappy fairy" who came and took all the nappies away for new babies and left her a present, then visited every now and then and left a note to say how well she was doing!

horseylady · 09/07/2012 19:39

Welcome!!

Just had a riding lesson which was good!! Mrswee pleased your scan went well!

My little one just kicks lots prett much everyone can see him now through my clothes!! He was having a party about 2pm!!! Bless him!!

This time next week well be in Corfu :) can't wait!!

SwissArmyWife · 09/07/2012 19:52

I like the name Silas too :)

It seems there are a lot of anterior placentas among us! Did any of you have an anterior placenta with any of your previous pregnancies? If so do you know when you start feeling movements all the time?

I'm feeling movements quite a lot, and DP felt one kick yesterday as they're getting so much stronger :)

Anyone else suffering with an iron deficiency? I'm pretty sure i've got one and it's awful :( Feel so drained, (literally can barely get out of bed drained) so I went shopping today and got as much iron rich food as I could! Does anybody know if it's ok to take an iron supplement with Pregnacare?

As for the MS coming back as someone said, I threw up this morning while brushing my teeth. Mmmm. Completely out of no where too, I haven't been sick in weeks!

MissMummy1 · 09/07/2012 20:09

swiss that was me - and when I was cleaning my teeth too! Weird eh? First time since about 15 weeks, yuck.

I was anaemic for years as a teenager and almost certain there's something up with my iron levels again. DH has bought me an iron supplement but I want to check with MW on Friday before taking it.

Also, my optician has refused to test my eyes while I'm pregnant? I know my eyesight has deteriorated again in the past few months as I'm struggling to make out road signs etc when driving. I'd heard of hormones affecting eyesight during pregnancy but didn't realise opticians wouldn't actually test your eyes! Anyone else got any experience of this? I'm gutted as due a new pair of glasses this year :-(

Evilwater · 09/07/2012 20:13

Hello everyone! Ive finally got my mat leave sorted. My last working week is 3 September.
I'm very happy about that. The baby's room is still not done, I'm thinking of hireling someone to do it, as every time I make some time I'm tired.

I'm also reading 50 shades of grey, and finding it enjoyable.

I've put on 6kg!
Evil

ShellyBobbs · 09/07/2012 20:25

Horsey You chose Corfu then, didn't want to say it but I would have done too. Where abouts are you going, I'm VERY jealous......

The Pregnacare is fine after 13 weeks, I took advise after being given it off a doctor at 7 weeks, needless to say it's still in the cupboard. Lots of fruit will bring it back up if you fancy it, tinned or fresh :)

MissMummy Seems to be normal reading around, apparently it is the hormones and they may not see you until baba is 3 months old.

Dixiebell · 09/07/2012 20:31

Hi all, scan showed all good with baby today, DS2 for us! Only slight worry is that I have a low lying placenta. So have to go back for another scan at 32 weeks to see if it's moved up. Otherwise is blocking tge exit route!! Argh. Anyone else with experience of this? Apparently it's common in 15% of pregnancies, and in most it moves up. But if not, poss CS. And have to watch for bleeding, sonographer said no heavy lifting or long walks! And I've heard of people being hospitalised towards end...hopefully will sort itself out tho.

Glad your scan went well mrswee.

Dixiebell · 09/07/2012 20:33

swiss, meant to say I think you can have too much iron when pg, so would check with mw if yr already taking pregnacare which has iron in it.

eversomuch · 09/07/2012 20:37

Congrats on sorting your matlv, Evil.

As for weight gain, I've put on about 4kg.

Mrswee Glad your scan went well.

Congrats on your boy, Dixie.

Swissarmy I'm usually borderline aenemic and became very aenemic while pg with DD. Although I was taking ferrous sulphate supplements (by prescription), my levels didn't come up until I also started taking Spatone as well (mw's recommendation) -- then they just shot up and I felt so much better. So this time, I've been taking Pregnacare, ferrous sulphate and Spatone from the very beginning, and my iron levels have been good.

According to my last scan report, I also have an anterior placenta. I do feel movements, sometimes quite strong, but I've always suspected that I don't feel them quite as much as others do. I thought it had to do with my fibroids (which I guess it might), but I suppose the placenta doesn't help much. Will double check that at my next scan next week.

I like the name Silas, but DH's surname starts with "S", so I think there would just be too much ssssss going on if we used it.

Wow, so many people reading 50 Shades. I have to admit I've not been tempted. I also heard that it originated as Twilight fanfiction and I have so far successfully avoided getting sucked into that series. I must admit, I'm more of a Harry Potter girl, myself ... and there's lots of fanfiction of all sorts in that world to keep me happy. :)

TheDetective · 09/07/2012 21:05

I love Twilight, and Harry Potter Blush. So does DP! We have so much in common Grin.

In fact, we have a slight problem. Baby is due 3rd, Twilight is out on 18th.... I am actively praying this child stays put til the 19th making me 40+16 Grin

There is no way DP is going to see it before me! And no way he will let me go before him. Soooooo... we may end up having to abandon a 3/4 day old to go watch it! I've already told his mum to keep that evening free. Except she will want to go to....

Re: opticians, I had no idea you couldn't have an eye test when pregnant! I have bad eyes! I need my tests! I wear contacts too... I have to have 6 monthly checks for those, next one due in September. Hmmmm. Will have to ring them. It doesn't seem right... surely if you know your eyesight has changed, then you need a test - especially if you drive! I had big problems late last year, and I only noticed it when driving, when I could no longer read road signs til it was ridiculously late! Turns out my vision had gone from -4.25 to -5.25 in only 7 months. If I'd been pregnant, I'd of been driving around very unsafely for some time! Maybe you just don't tell them you are pregnant. And wear a loose top .

YellowWellies · 09/07/2012 21:06

My optician was quite happy to do my annual contact lens check and eye test whilst I was preggers (to be fair I had travelled down from the island to Edinburgh to do it - so I reckon they daren't refuse!!!!), so it might just vary from company to company. I'm with Boots / D&A opticians.

FatimaLovesBread · 09/07/2012 21:09

Evening all!
Welcome kissyfur! Sorry for your news Caz

Those of you who want dresses for weddings, have you tried ASOS? I've got two weddings and two christenings. I ordered quite a few different dresses in different sizes to try as it free returns. They have a good maternity section and I got two sale dresses that'll do for the weddings. One for £15 and one for £18!!
Even at full price they're not badly priced.

I have a christening 5 days before my due date where I'm godmother! I'm dreading going in to labour half way through Grin

I've also got an anterior placenta. I didn't feel movements till a couple of weeks ago if that, but now I feel little kicks everyday. They're not massively strong but I can definately feel them when it has it's active half hour.

Evilwater how many weeks will you be when you start mat leave?

I've been trying to sort my mat leave out today. I'm thinking of starting it at 37/38 weeks but adding on holiday so I'll finish at 35 weeks. Does this sound too early? Although feeling as tired as I did today I'd quite happily start it tomorrow Grin

I love the name Cassius! I'd love two boys and a girl called Cassius, Atticus and Artemis but as I don't live in a romantic novel I think that's out of the question Smile

Evilwater · 09/07/2012 21:23

Fatima, officaily I'll be 38 weeks, but I have 3 weeks hoilday so I'll be leaving at 35 weeks.

Evil

horseylady · 09/07/2012 21:23

Corfu town looks ok very good deal!! Only booked it last week!!! When I get back ill have 11 weeks left at work (well 13 but two weeks holiday before?!) Also need to get my matb form in this week too!!! Soooo much to do!!!

They should test your eyes, but may not correct unless needed as they will return to their pre pregnancy state.

Cacacaz · 09/07/2012 21:25

Thanks everyone for the thoughts, sadly she passed away this morning just after 7am. As you can all imagine today has been very tough for everyone. I feel so sad for dh, he has never lost anyone before and was very close to his Gran.

We were meant to be going to Paris on Friday for 3 nights to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary, not sure whether we are going to cancel. It seems wrong to go in light of what has happened.

dixiebell I too have a low lying placenta and have another scan scheduled for 32 weeks, although there was no mention of no long walks or heavy lifting by the either the midwife or sonographer.
