free, so sorry to hear you're suffering. I'm only 10 weeks (tomorrow) so I will be prepared for the possibility of more nausea and actual vomiting to come!

I've been lucky with only the mildest of nausea BUT lots of people on the Expecting in March thread I'm on have had some relief with Floradix, the liquid iron supplement - worth trying?

Hope it eases soon ...

gardenpixies32 · 06/08/2012 14:18

Free my initial reply wasn't very helpful.

Don't worry too much about the sickness. Yours may subside within a few days/weeks. Everyone is different. Once it does subside you feel like a completely different person until the hip and backache kicks in

I remember turning to my OH in Sainsbury's and snapping at him that this was our first and LAST pregnancy. I felt awful. Now that I feel much better I told him I want another baby. He thinks I am mental!

For me personally the Floradix made me want to puke more. I did take it daily for weeks but the smell and taste made me heave and want to be sick.

FreeButtonBee · 06/08/2012 15:46

Thanks Garden and Mandasand. Even just the sympathy is nice. I thought last week that puking would be a nice relief from the nausea but it's really really not. This is proper shakey-vomiting that leaves you drained for hours. I am only really now starting to perk up after this morning's sessions.

I have realised that I've been slack at taking my vitamins and Vit B is supposed to help with MS so will try to get that going again. But why do they have to be so big? Like bloody horse tablets...

Must say that my tummy is starting to firm up underneath the flab - I can still fit into most of my clothes (although a few pairs of trousers aren't particularly comfy) but I think there will be a big change in the next 2 weeks or so! Might have to go shopping next weekend.

DreamingOfPeace · 06/08/2012 20:03

Oh free, you poor thing... It's so horrible. I was sick from 5-25 weeks then 35 weeks til the day I delivered, sorry!!. I took stematil/buccastem and had diarolyte on prescription. That got me down to a managable 3-5 pukes a day!!! I lost 3/4 of a stone by week 14, from my lowest ever starting weight, and I worried just as much about that knackered, you can't win! However most others I spoke to said they'd stopped by about week 17-20. And once its gone its wonderful, such a relief. You'll get through it

angelpie2012 · 06/08/2012 21:02

Hi free, I was pretty lucky and only had mild nausea but I've always been short on Vitamin B12 so have always taken (and continued to take) a Vitamin B complex supplement throughout my pregnancy. I just have a bottle from Boots has a green label) and the tablet is really small so may be worth trying those?

I also found that if I ate something as soon as I felt nauseous, the feeling went away.

Good luck - am also in London so can imagine how awful your tube experience must have been!

BB3 · 07/08/2012 06:37

Oh free - I've been there! I remember sat on the side of the tube line throwing up in a sainsbury's bag while everyone watched from on the train! And you know those bloody bags have air holes in so then had to carry leaky sick bag out of the tube (all before having told anyone I was pregnant!!! It is bad but it does ease off eventually, you have to work out what triggers / helps it - food made me sick so I grazed all day rather than had three meals and the only thing I could drink was fruit smoothies from Denny's on lambs conduit street - freezing cold real fruit smoothies - in fact the thing I was most devastated about was that drinking tea made me sick! Wink hope it picks up soon!

Hello to everyone else

Eeek Baileys - two days!!!!!

KnackeredCow · 07/08/2012 07:43

Thank you for the advice re weight. Feel much more reassured now. Shall ignore the nurse.

Free You have my sympathy. After showing off that I had really mild morning sickness the nausea is really kicking in. It was so bad yesterday, and I was so shattered I called in sick. Sad. Just couldn't face work. Slept for most of the day. Feel a little better today.

We've got a dog and I've found poo bags really useful to use as sick bags! They're black so nobody needs to see the offending vomit, scented (until you can find a bin) and don't have any air holes so leak free!

How long was it before you all began to show and needed to go into maternity clothes? I'm 10 weeks tomorrow and can't get into a lot of stuff now, and have given in and bought one pair of maternity jeans. I definitely have a bit of a bump!

gardenpixies32 · 07/08/2012 08:25

I bought maternity jeans at about 10 weeks. Didn't know I was having twins at that point and was worried about my ever expanding waistline. Those jeans didn't fit for long and I gave up wearing them at around 18 weeks. Now I wear leggings and tunic tops/dress all the time. It saves buying maternity clothes. Dorothy Perkins do lovely comfy maternity leggings and reasonably priced. I live in mine. I bought a non underwired bigger bra at around 20 weeks and it still just about fits.

I sent my family photos of my 27 week bump and they were all stunned by the size! I am measuring about 35 weeks. It is gigantic!

FreeButtonBee · 07/08/2012 09:07

Right feeling much better this morning. Managed to have a vitamin yesterday, drank about an inch of innocent smoothie before leaving the hour, breathed heavily all the way to work and have just had half a sausage sarnie (from nice place so decent sausages and wholemeal bread). Feeling ALIVE. The prblem is that what works one day doesn't work the next. Gah.

I seem to be holding steady on the weight side of things. My BMI was about 27 before all this so a bit overweight. Have lost about 3lbs over the course of the past month - I weigh myself once a week. I think my face and collarbopnes are looking a bit skinnier -so I think I am losing fat but gaining babies. That's fine for me for the moment. Size 12 clothes generally still fitting although I don't really wear trousers much and dresses are so much more forgiving! I think i will have to go shopping this weekend so that when the inevitable happens, I have at least some clothes to wear.

mandasand · 07/08/2012 16:58

Hey ladies! I feel so sorry for those still suffering with sickness. Hang on in there...

Everything fine with me apart from tiredness. Had to go into London for a 45-minute meeting this morning: I left at 7.45am and got in at 3pm and after that trek the idea of getting any work done now seems impossible so sat on sofa yawning, trying to stay awake and watching the velodrome races. Hmm, 'working from home' does have its advantages!

I've always had a bit of a belly, but I'm really developing a bump now (10 weeks today, yay). Today I wore my one remaining floaty dress that still hides my bump (haven't told my boss yet...) Gone a bit mad on eBay auctions recently. One dress arrived and it's ace (though I'm not quite big enough for it yet!) so I've bought some more and can't wait for them to arrive. I am planning on doing the same as you gardenpixies - dresses and leggings. What I need now are maternity leggings as my one pair of 14s are getting tight - any good recommendations? Close to home there's a Mothercare and a Dorothy Perkins but not much by way of maternity clothes in town.

I'm a bit confused as to size. I'm usually a 12 bottoms and 14 tops but should I anticipate gaining weight everywhere, or just the bump? (The eBay dresses are a mix of 12s and 14s.)

And what happens if I get too big for regular maternity clothes?!

DreamingOfPeace · 07/08/2012 17:28

H&M maternity leggings are ace. I outgrew most of my.stuff, just put weight on my bump...

gardenpixies32 · 07/08/2012 17:41

I ordered DP leggings online. I bought my usual size in maternity and they fit perfectly. They are very soft and stretchy. The waist band doesn't cut into your bump at all.

My bump got gigantic but the rest of me only slightly bigger so far. I was never slim to start with. My face looks like it has put on weight but my boobs are much the same.

mandasand · 07/08/2012 18:11

cheers ladies!

DreamingOfPeace · 07/08/2012 19:36

Yes, I just bought my normal size, or 1 bigger when I got vast at the end. Will in-private my bump pic briefly, and my boys newborn if you're interested manda? My bmi is normally 20. I put on nearly 3 stone but just bump really, lost it all bar 4 pounds now n babies 18 weeks tomorrow.

DreamingOfPeace · 07/08/2012 20:06

Right, my pics are back on, but I'm going to try and remember to take them off in a day or two :)

Had a lovely day out with my three and my dad today, and boys were so good!! for a change

mandasand · 07/08/2012 22:24

aw thanks dreaming! big bump, admittedly, but beautiful boys! and impressed with your weight lost post-birth! I will use that as inspiration although my bmi is a little bit higher than yours! Smile

angelpie2012 · 07/08/2012 22:25

Free - Re: clothes, I found that I fitted into most trousers etc for a while and got away with jerseys which I already had but I bought really big sizes for tops since I knew with 3 I'd get pretty big so I drowned in those tops for a week or two but they now fit and it has saved me buying more clothes.

If shopping in London, I found H&M did really good tops and basic t-shirts/vests. And then it was just pot luck finding things I liked in the right size etc at Mothercare and Mamas and Papas. JoJo Maman Bebe was also quite good and you get a discount if you're a member of Tamba.

Queenmarigold · 08/08/2012 11:52

First day of mat clothes today, at week 14 Shock
Lovely and comfy and mahoosive, I have missed them.
I wore normal clothes with DC1 until I was 20 weeks. I fear I may explode. And make a mess.

mandasand · 08/08/2012 15:02

Me too, queen! tho am only 10 weeks :-o I'm wearing my bargain maternity frock from eBay with roomy size 14 leggings and I'm so comfy. The dress hangs down at the front so it's clearly a little early for this kind of behaviour but I'm working from home so who cares!

More eBay maternity frock bargains will be arriving in the post AND I've decided to tell my Mum and Dad a week before the 12-week scan so everything better bloody be okay! (Parentals are coming to stay when I'll be 11+3 and it will be difficult to hide preg from them owing to lack of cider in the pub! Also they are going on hols the very day we're having the scan, so it's either tell them early, or when I'm 14+ weeks!) FX all will be fine...

baileyslover · 09/08/2012 06:15

Morning all! Well have finally got to D-day! Hopefully on for this afternoon, pending other emergencies. Will post as soon as I am able Smile
Re maternity clothes, I initially fitted into my clothes from DS, which were my normal size but obviously maternity style. However whenI got to 24ish weeks and was term size already, I had to do a second round of purchasing Blush. Needless to say currently I have out grown all of those as well, and my bump unashamedly sticks out under whatever top I am wearing, as all my over the bump trousers don't stretch that far! Think dresses and leggings definately the way forward, but make sure they hug the bump a bit. I have one dress that hangs straight down from the bump and it looks ridiculous!

ClaireMarathonFeeder · 09/08/2012 07:16

Oh my baileys best of luck for today, you will have three new babies soon!!

Re maternity clothes, I started wearing some at prob 12 weeks, esp bottoms, I also have h&m leggings which were fab! Last 4 weks they were the only thing that still fit me alibgside a couple of tops.. I also had their over the bump jeans and cords which were comfy and soft. I wore the jeans right to the last couple of weeks.
I found I put on as much weight with the twins as with my second pregnancy, this time round, the sickness, heartburn and indugestion were much wirse and meant I just couldn't eat that much!

Waves to all the new bumps Smile

BB3 · 09/08/2012 07:32

Baileys - just a quick note to say good luck today and I'm just so awed at how well you've done getting this far, those babies are very lucky! It will be a manic few months (years?) but enjoy every second - cannot wait for your news xxx

gardenpixies32 · 09/08/2012 07:56

Baileys, good luck for today. I bet you are so excited for 3 new babies!!!

You have done so well carrying them for so long. Looking forward to hearing the news :)

DreamingOfPeace · 09/08/2012 09:12

Well done for getting here Baileys so exciting, good luck!!!

Kazar99 · 09/08/2012 09:26

Good luck baileys so exciting that you'll be holding your 3 babies later today. That means it's probably me next if everything goes to plan Shock.

In terms of maternity clothes, I ordered lots of eBay but didn't wear half of it! Just used a couple of pairs of black trousers that we're really comfy for work until I got huge and then I had another bigger pair for my last couple of weeks. I had several non-maternity jersey dresses that were worn to work with maternity tights from H&M until the dresses wouldn't stretch enough/weren't long enough to get over bump and still be a respectable length :). I've lived in leggings, yoga pants and one pair of jeans with t-shirts and vest tops since finishing work. H&M and New Look are good for this stuff as not too expensive and can try on in store. Challenge I have now is finding jumpers or sweatshirts to go over bump, just need to go up sizes til they fit! Am just making do with what I have though as not long to go.
