fab news Baileys wow 20cm already!!! great stuff to hear its all going ok and the weights are doing good, roll on the next 2 weeks, week 24 was a good milestone for me :)

i brought a second hand pushchair very early on, and have spent some time over the weekend looking at a new pushchair im now really torn as to whether to treat myself Hmm i currently have the icandy pear, it is lovely and like the idea the frame is the same size as a single pushchair, what I've become to not like is the thought of one of the babies being lower down at the back and not visable without looking round the other, im going to be walking more when they come. the new pushchair I've been looking at is the bugaboo donkey twin, babies sit/lay side by side, it adjusts and folds easy, and is lovely and light to push it also comes in pink, and i always said if i had a girl id get a girly pushchair, the downside is the price!!! i can get it for around £900 would hopefully get about £400 for the pear so would need to find around £500 which i could but should i be indulging???? decisions decisions......Hmm

baileyslover · 14/05/2012 19:05

going we are going for the ABC triple, as pretty much it is the one everyone praises. 2 are lower down and facing out, the third is on the top facing in. Fits through most doorways and they all have some interaction. Unfortunately they cost well over a grand new as imported from NZ, but think there is a thriving 2 nd hand market so just need to keep an eye out. Think Ican get a buggy board to fit it as well so somewhere for DS to go as well. Re the bugaboo, my childminder had something similar and DS was in the back bit when he was younger. Not so bad then but no way would he be happy back there now. I think a side by side pushchair is much more sociable. Hope you find the dosh Smile

goingmadtrying · 14/05/2012 19:18

thanks Baileys i have the dosh available as my mum has said she'll lend it too me and i can pay it back when i se the pushchair in a couple of years lol!!! love the bugaboo and really think I'll end up getting it, its nice to hear you agree with the side by side being better :)

rednellie · 14/05/2012 20:12

I've got the Mountain Buggy Duet going, and someone is going to start thinking I work for them as I'm always banging on about how brilliant they are!

BUT, I've read somewhere that the only downside of the Bugaboo Donkey is when you have the car seats on it wont fit through doors...not sure how true that is and how much you're planning on using the car seats on the frame, but just a thought....

DreamingOfPeace · 14/05/2012 20:20

Me too, I think for twins its much better side by side. I have the abc everest triple for loading them all, but as it is a beast of a buggy I also have the baby jogger city mini double which pushes like a dream :-) . Really like it. So I'd go for your dream pushchair going, its not like you can just grab your baby and nip anywhere with twins so it'll get loads of use.

Hooray for all your babies doing so well baileys, really good news. Roll

DreamingOfPeace · 14/05/2012 20:21

On 24 weeks (sorry, hit post by accident)

goingmadtrying · 14/05/2012 20:24

thanks both, how are you and your beautiful babies doing???! have things settled down a little for you dreaming how's your dh?

so lovely to hear from you both :)

Kazar99 · 14/05/2012 20:30

I'm still pram shopping. We're definitely going for a side by side. We reckon that one behind the other is probably okay when they are babies but we want something that will last us a few years. Once they get a bit bigger, whoever is at the back won't be able to see much and probably just kick lumps out the one in front of them :).

Side by side definitely wins and should avoid arguments/tantrums but which one? Liking the look of the mini city jogger as it folds so easily. Nipper 360 looked quite light too but haven't seen in in real life yet. rednellie how easy is it to fold the mountain buggy? Girl in the shop made it look a bit of a pain which put us off a bit. Size wise it looked very similar to the jogger though so definitely an option. Price of bugaboo donkey put us off slightly but we could stretch the budget plus it looked bigger than some of the others so wondered if it would fit through doors!

Also, how much did people use their car seats on the pram? Can't decide if we really need the travel system option or if carrycots or even just lie flat straight in the pram would be easier? I can see why it is convenient if having one baby but can't see me lugging 2 car seats about as they are heavy!

rednellie · 14/05/2012 20:46

Mountain Buggy Duet is simple as to fold up, shop girl was obviously a numpty. It's literally just one button and it folds down by itself. I've got it down to a fine art now. Also, it is VERY slim so fits through doors and shops that you wouldn't think it would and its very manouverable. But then all the pricey ones are. I think the city jogger is easier to get cheaper second hand, whereas the duet, because it's still quite new, isn't doing the rounds on ebay yet...

Anyway I LOVE mine! Also, DD sits on the front step bit so I can get all 3 out with the Duet.

We're all doing well going, thanks for asking. Still reading all your news and enjoying the updates.

Waves to all the mummies to be and wishing you luck with scans etc...right got to go, DT2 has just done a massive poo. theme of my life currently.

Oh and kazaar - I only use the car seats in the car. Too much flipping faff otherwise. I can not stand them and carrying two, especially now both my boys are over 10lbs, is a pain in the back/arms/hips. I also think they should be lying down when out and about in the buggy - they seem much more comfy and less hot.

claireinmodena · 14/05/2012 20:56

Hello all,

baileys great news on scan! Roll on 24 wks now.

Re pram, we have a tandem because the only side by side that would have fit through our narrow door was a duet, and I could not see it in the flesh before ordering where I live and didnt like that. (but at first I would have preferred the side by side too). We have a baby jogger city select and we love it so far. We use the car seats lots and Actually kazar I use them more than with one baby as I could at least carry one in my arms if I didnt want to take the car seat but theres no way I can do it with two! So I do sometimes carry one in each hand (my shoulders are developing muscles I necer knew existed), but I also use them a lot on the pram itself as its easier when I drive somewhere since the carrycots dont fit in my car Sad. As for these we have used them loads to put babies to sleep during the day for first couple of months then we were given bouncy chairs and we use those now. We still use the carrycots for walks though.

Blush post rednellie!

Just to show what works for some doesnt for others! Grin

claireinmodena · 14/05/2012 21:00

X post, even, aargh

goingmadtrying · 14/05/2012 21:11

thank you ladies i really appreciate you taking the time to post your thoughts, i know how busy you are :

kazar have a look at the website bestbuggy.co.uk it reviews two against each other the donkey isn't that much difference important width with a lot of the pushchairs being taled about and easy to reduce down to get through doorways, in terms of car seats i have the maxi cosi as these went with the pear and also the donkey, but too be honest i cant see me using them as much as with one as i won't always have the car available and also it won't be as easy to get out and about, im going to try and walk more specially the school run and popping to shops, still undecided but not going to rush my decision, although everyone who knows me well in rl will be thinking ill do it anyway lol

BB3 · 14/05/2012 21:13

Yay nomorewine

Bigboobs can't wait to get on computer and check out pics

Yay for scan baileys

Is your mum back Desiren?

Hey red, dream and Claire (and anyone else I've missed).

I have the donkey , it brilliant - absolutely my best buy yet! We use it so much and fits through doors with car seats no problem - I can't praise it enough!

goingmadtrying · 14/05/2012 21:14

rednellie your right about them being wider with the car seats the adaptors stick out slightly wider although the man inthe shop demonstrated how.easy the pushchair is to adjust when one car seat is removed? all food for thought

BB3 · 14/05/2012 21:17

Forgot to add...

Nomorewine - how are they getting on now?

Hope scollister is doing ok.

goingmadtrying · 14/05/2012 21:19

thanks bb3 glad to hear a positive story :) what made you choose the donkey??

rednellie · 14/05/2012 22:42

Ha ha claire! That did make me laugh. Yeah, everyone works it out eventually. Am never sure whether it's because what one does is best/better or just that you tell yourself it is because you're doing it...iyswim?

Anyway, the donkey looks lovely so am sure if you can get through doors etc then it'd be a goer. Very swish!

DreamingOfPeace · 15/05/2012 03:55

I don't use the car seats much, I'm of the babies should be flat variety! Plus they recommend two hours maximum in one so not much chance to do much and i hate their position in them. However if I was in your situation Claire and the carry cots didn't go in the car I'd do the same. I do love my BJ city mini double though, so easy to push, light, great fold, fantastic sunhoods, and it was indeed second hand and cheaper than my single! the donkey looks great but i didnt have the cash.

claireinmodena · 15/05/2012 04:46

Just wish to add, I hardly go anywhere foronger than 2 hrs, my trips out are normally supermarket or school run. I agree they shouldnt spend too much time in car seats, but I have found with the twins and 2 older kids, lots of "shoulds" are turned into "needs must" iykwim

DreamingOfPeace · 15/05/2012 14:02

Claire I'm still wondering whether to buy the car seat adapter for my buggy for just such a reason. Especially today as i couldn't take the tandem screaming any more and mobilized my brood to playgroup and had to wake finally sleeping twins to put them in the buggy to get them all in as i couldn't carry the car seats that far, is parked miles away. Any morals would have gone straight out the window! Is have been.saying 'its only once, not every day' etc etc to myself!!

DreamingOfPeace · 15/05/2012 14:03

Why my phone corrected/ changed I'd to is in that post I don't know...

BB3 · 15/05/2012 17:32

Bigboobs, your boys are just gorgeous. Gorgeous!!!

Going - Originally, I wanted a one in front of the other (although not an underneath one) but we went to John Lewis where there was another twin couple and we got chatting and they were talking about the length and not fitting on pavements. I then realised in the village we live in we wouldn't be able to fit a one-in-front-of-the-other buggy on the pavement when crossing roads etc so one baby would always be on the road which ruled it out. I then looked at the city select which was originally my first choice for practicality and then I found the Donkey. And it just fitted everything I wanted it to do. The over riding decision with me was the click in and out simplicity and just how bloody easy and relatively light it was to change from one to the other, fold down, lock. And that the basinets had wooden bases and proper mattresses so could be used as beds during the day. The sales assistant spent hours with me, placing no pressure comparing all and while I thought the price was a lot, everything kept coming back to that for me so I wen't with my gut. I got the car seat adaptor, the maxi cosy car seats, and the buggy board and we use them all, all the time. The girls have just changed from the bassinet to the seats which still offer a great range of seating options. THE ONLY downside I have and it's a small one is there is not much room underneath it with the bassinets on for shopping but I just bought those shopping clip things to hang it off the handle bars if needed. OK that was a long babble

Dream, how you getting on?

Red, when is it you head back to our shores?

Claire - Grin at out the window! I remember picking Karahan up all head supported and careful and the girls are bundled in a rugby hold just to keep up with them!

Holiday on Thursday. Gah!

rednellie · 15/05/2012 18:40

BB3 - totally with you on the rugby hold. I do agree with my mate with twins who said babygrows should come with handles so you can drag them around, a bit like a cat!!! And claire, you are so right about needs must - sorry if I sounded all virtuous about the car seats. I think the main reason I don't use them is in Vancouver all the houses have a huge flight of stairs to the front door (stoops an that) so it ends up just being easier to go out with the buggy.

We don't use and haven't bought carrycots for the Duet and have not missed them. The seats go flat and with some blankies in there are super comfy, I'm so glad we didn't spend another 200 quid to get them. More money to buy chocolate for me. Grin

BB3 - we're coming back in August. I can't bloody wait although the weather's turned lovely now so Vancouver is doing its best to woo me, but I'm not having it. My brother's having a baby in the summer so I really want to be back to meet him - god, my parents have gone from no grandchildren to 5 in the space of two years!
