Morning everyone! Smile

Well, after a smallish bleed yesterday afternoon, I managed to have a completely uneventful night! Wooooooooooooo! Grin So feeling very chipper this morning and hope things continue in this vein.

Am very Envy of all this nursery decorating, you motivated lot. Ours only consists of new curtains! which weren't an impulse buy on eBay oh no

Hope you manage to keep those iron tablets down smallwonder, that doesn't sound like fun

We saw the lightening and heard a massive crack of thunder late last night CathFin, did seem quite stormy on and off yesterday.

Glad SmallBee has resumed usual service gwenniebie, and you got a good night's sleep.

Looking forward to hearing the room is finished SSC, yay!

Wishing everyone a lovely Saturday Smile

Boysrstupid · 14/04/2012 08:06

Mornin all,

Tea I'm so pleased your no longer leaking. Home on Monday with a bit of luck eh?

About the stroppy mw's. I (being the arsey cow that I am) would've called them on it. 'Is there a reason you seem to be offhand with me. Only my notes quite clearly record a measurement way below expected and I am perfectly entitled to question this. I'm happy to escalate this matter further if you are unhappy with my ensuring the safety of my baby?!'
I cannot abide people who lack the ability to admit they were wrong. We all do at some point except me obviously Grin

This morning I am off to watch my sons last ever mini soccer game. He'll be U11's nxt season and the league start taking it serious then. He'll play 11 a side instead of 6 a side. With the same club and the same lads so it's not a huge deal, just he's played for 4 seasons now so it feels like the end of an era really.

I think i'm on bacon butty duty before KO so ought to get a wriggle on and leave MN alone.

justwantcheese · 14/04/2012 08:34

hi all
sorry tea that you are having such a stressful time, i hope it all settles down for you soon.
dairy i think there are some very rude midwifes out there, they all stick together and never admit mistakes.
ssc good luck to getting the bedroom sorted
kveta I'm the same as you, i have about 5 weeks left some 4 days some 5 and to be honest i've really had enough now!. I'm typing this from work- would rather be at home having a snooze!
smallwonder hope the iron levels settle and you start feeling a bit better soon-hope you get some sleep.
have a nice weekend everyone x another day closer to the big event Grin

10000fireflies · 14/04/2012 10:14

Morning all!

Busy as ever in here! Glad you seem to be on the mend, Tea. Gosh, you lot with your nurseries... haven't even managed to get the room cleared to decorate, and we really need a new floor covering throughout flat. Horrible, ancient, dusty old carpets here. No amount of hoovering deals with it properly. Still, have made some major improvements to garden, so hopefully there will be some decent weather and can chill out there in the summer.

I am another with limited movements from LO, so consultant sent me for another scan and got to see baby's face. V cute. LO seems ok, and we get another at the start of May. Also, had GTT and all ok with that.

Have a good weekend everyone. Am guessing there's lots more DIY on the agenda!

FF xx

McKayz · 14/04/2012 10:18

Just had call from MW to say the consultant wants me to have a scan Monday and then go see him. It's a bit of a panic as its such short notice.

Tea hope you're ok.

DairyNips · 14/04/2012 10:56

Morning allSmile

tea glad things seem to be settling a bit at the moment.

McKayz has the consultant said what your scan is for? Sorry of you've already said and I missed it..

No nursery decorating here as the baby will be in with us then sharing with his bro's. Ideally we'd have a three bed house by now but the current financial situation isn't letting that happenHmm Anyway, the second bedroom is thankfully large and I'm sure the three boys will have a whale of a time till we can afford to moveSmile

Just waiting for my dh to finish work at 12 so the weekend can begin! Thanks for the comments about the midwives, indeed, why couldn't they just admit fault and day sorry!Hmm

Hi to everyone I haven't mentioned Smile

McKayz · 14/04/2012 11:02

Dairy it's because the baby is bigger than she should be and I'm also measuring 4 weeks bigger too.

DairyNips · 14/04/2012 11:16

McKayz Ah I see, hope the scan goes ok. Sure all will be fine Smile

TeaandHobnobs · 14/04/2012 12:06

My old housemate is coming to visit me this afternoon - he's a criminal barrister, currently on secondment to the Nursing and Midwifery Council - so he is prosecuting naughty midwives!
I will have to tell him to watch what he says while he's here this afternoon Grin
dairy maybe we ought to set him on your two!!!!!

DairyNips · 14/04/2012 13:16

Grin tea, that would put the willies up them!

Kveta · 14/04/2012 14:51

glad things are settled for now tea, what a week you've had!

McKayz nice of them to spring the extra scan on you all of a sudden - honestly, the lack of organisation in some health care is quite scary.

I have just spent a couple of hours gardening, and am already paying for it. however, got some courgettes planted out, and parsnip, carrot, swiss chard, and beetroot seeds planted too, as well as some essential weeding done, so it was worth it. Got a bit more weeding to do next weekend, and hopefully some seedlings to plant out, we'll see! but not planting any more seeds this year, maybe some more seed potatoes, but that is IT!

we're not decorating a nursery either - baby will be in our room for 1st 6 months (or 18 months, if DS was anything to go by :o) and then she'll be in with DS until we either extend the house or get an office built for DH in the garden. next week we'll have been homeowners for a whole year, and we have just been looking at how much we've done in that time - no wonder we're knackered!! it's worth it though, isn't it?!

sister has just posted on my FB wall that we can't have the travel cot back yet as she's still using it - nothing like a fucking phone call to inform people you're not returning their stuff, is there? DH and I are both so sick of her. bloody family Angry hope DS and DD are less hideous to each other in 28+ years time Hmm

better go, DS suspiciously quiet.

blondiedollface · 14/04/2012 20:18

Ahhhhhhhhh!!!! My Dad surprised us both yesterday and bought our cot, mattress and cot-top changer!! Happy Blondie and Happy Mr Blondie

We'd been really torn between buying something we (in all honesty had our heart set on but was a little bit waaaaaaaaaay out of our price range) wanted and somethign we could afford that would tide us over until we could afford something else...

He bought us a fantastically beautiful Cot Bed from Mamas & Papas that will last a good long while and seems very sturdy with 4 different heights which with my SPD as it is and not knowing how it'll be after LO arrives is just the best thing!

So a very happy start to the weekend and it arrives next week which with everyone talking of nursery decoration and the like ties in perfectly and I've had the bumper, quilt, organiser that I made myself ridiculously proud and want to shout it from the rooftops that I got all crafty and DIY in the airing cupboard since we moved into this house so it's going to finally get put into the cot and our nursery will be ready Grin

Tea Hope everything is good with you today :)

Dairy I would write a letter as you are perfectly within your rights to ask questions to understand what is going on with your LO and we all accept that mistakes are made, there is no need for anyone to get that defensive!

Kveta Your sister would make my blood boil if she were mine. Families eh? (Would post more about how angry it makes me but I'm sure we're all ranted out and sometimes there just aren't words!)

McKayz We had the same thing at 22 weeks - an appointment sprung on us with a consultant and we both worried sick about why we'd been scheduled and nobody explained it to us. It turned out because of a very small chance of a hereditary condition on the male side of my family we had an informal chat with the consultant who completely ruled it out through genetic trees as it's only in males and is my mothers father, and since I am female and the LO is female there is no chance she could have it - but the way in which they go about these appointments is sometimes not worry-free!!

Hope everyone not mentioned is happy and enjoying their weekends :o

Warlin · 14/04/2012 21:21

Happy sat everyone!

tea so glad things have settled down. Fingers crossed for another leak free night and home on mon.

mckayz good to get the scan on mon but I'm sure all is fine. With a but of luck they may induce you early. I'd love to go a few weeks early as not sure I can cope with another 8 weeks!

I've got 6 weeks left of work (5day weeks) and really not sure how I'll cope as so tired.

Ordered cot today. Wanted one from the boori range at John Lewis but boori don't deliver to northern ireland.. Managed to order it from the pram centre but hoping it will get delivered ok.

Went to get new bras today in M&S and got measured for first time ever. Was horrified!! The stroppy woman told me I was a 38 or 40 in the back!! I'm normally a 34 and they felt far too bug but she was determined I was that size. Think I'll just go by what feels right!

DH went to watch grand national with friends and still isn't home. Wish he'd hurry up as I'm hungry and he does the cooking.... He better be sober enough or I wont be happy!

Have a good evening everyone x

blondiedollface · 14/04/2012 21:35

Warlin Just had a sneak peek at the Boori Cots and WOW, v. jelly they are gorgeous :)

Went to M&S a couple of weeks ago and I've always been a 34/36 depending on which bra and whether it's a 'fat' day or not and the not so lovely lady declared well you're a 40 if you're lucky but we've not got much that's nice at that size and you'll only be getting bigger, and why nobody has told you you can't wear a wire when you're pregnant I'll never know. There was also lots of tutting.. So I just bought what size felt right to me!

emblosion · 15/04/2012 10:10

Popping on quickly to say m&s measured me completely the wrong size, told me off for wearing underwired and generally made me feel awful. I would definitely get a second opinion. M&S reckoned I was a 40 DD (usually 34 -36DD non-pregnant size) which didn't make sense to me at all, went to House of Fraser on Belfast for a second opinion and got properly measured by a lovely lady as a 36F. Apparently underwire is ok as long as bra v well fitting, not digging in to breasts etc (thank goodness).

Tea- glad things are calming down a bit (phew) hopefully you'll get home tomorrow.
McKayz - hope scan goes ok.
Kveta-grr at your sister
Blondie- that's so lovely of your dad :) my friend has just given us loads of baby stuff that het ds has outgrown, including cot, TWO Moses baskets, a baby bath, sheets, blankets, hats etc all lovely and barely used. I was so touched and emotional that I had a little happy weep!
Dairy - cross on your behalf re midwives, they should have just admitted making a mistake. You were completely right to be worried and get things checked, as surely anyone would. The silly bints (midwives that is).

Heading to my mums today to stay before the wedding. This time next week I'll be a married lady, woo!

Have a good Sunday all x

TeaandHobnobs · 15/04/2012 10:32

emblosion the countdown to the wedding, how exciting!!!!!!! Grin

CathFin · 15/04/2012 10:48

Blimey - can't believe M&S - what a load of old rubbish.
I went from 34" to 36" my first pregnancy but ended up with a 32" measurement afterwards but my cup sizes have been all over the place, I started off a C cup and went up to an E when feeding first time, went down to a D cup after and went up to an F cup feeding second time, currently a 34E so I'm guessing at an F or (eek) a G cup for feeding this time.
I am currently wearing non maternity bra's - Simone Perele ones as otherwise I just look like I have a uniboob. They are underwired and v comfy.
Previously I loved the HotMilk maternity range but will go back to my underwear shop to see what they have this time around as the ones I have will be too small no doubt.

I would probably try a proper underwear shop where they fit you properly, the one I use is in SW London if anyone is in that direction and wants the details.

gwenniebee · 15/04/2012 20:20

Oh silly old me... have been refreshing this thread since yesterday morning and thinking what busy lives we must all lead as no-one was posting... Then just now I realised at the bottom in teeeeny weeeeeeny little writing it said "Page 26 of 27". D'oh.

Anyway, a nice lot of news to catch up on! Tea glad things seem to be ok again :) I have been thinking of you!

Feel I may have come on very keen with my nursery decorating stories...! We only moved into our house/shoebox about 7 months ago and hadn't got around to decorating anywhere. So we'd have been redecorating anyway whether I was expecting or not! Also, I know that it couldn't have been done at weekends once I go back to work after the Easter hols and didn't want to leave it til I was on mat leave as possibly a bit late! We have spent quite a lot of this afternoon trying to fit all the crap and general rubbish that accumulates in a spare room when you're living in a shoebox furniture that was already in there around the newly assembled cot. We have a "sofa bed" (no arms so more like a cross between a sofa bed and a futon type thing really) which I was hopefully thinking we wouldn't really be using as a bed any more as visitors can't exactly share with the baby, but DH started talking about his mother coming to visit....... panic.......... Can't keep baby in with us once it's out of moses basket as no room in our bedroom! I love my little house dearly, and it's the first property I've ever owned, but oh my word is it small!

Oooh... DH coming to check what storage items I've found for under stairs cupboard... better quick back to argos and ikea tabs!

Wave to everyone!!

mrsshears · 15/04/2012 20:25

Hi everyone, just thought i'd call in as i haven't posted here for ages.
I will be 33 weeks tomorrow,i think i'm on the stats as due date 6th of june but i'm actually due on the 4th.
Glad everyone is ok tea i'm glad the bleeding has settled, that must have been very worrying.
I can't wait to finish work, just 4 weeks to go now which is good as i'm huge and it's as much as i can do to even get around! i have put about 2 stone 3lb on which is not as much as with my other 2 but i think this baby is going to be along the same lines weight wise,9 - 9 1/2 lb,i have another scan in 3 weeks to check the placenta position so i will ask about size than.
Glad everyone is ok,hopefully i will start being a bit more active in my posting now we are nearing the end Smile

McKayz · 15/04/2012 21:32

Tea, hope all is ok with you.

Warlin, I am hoping they don't want to induce me. I won't be agreeing to being induced anyway so it's pointless if they do.

I am hoping the first scan was wrong or her growth has slowed down.

10000fireflies · 15/04/2012 21:32

cathfin yes please re underwear shop in SW London, esp if they 'allow' you to buy underwired. I am so sick of having saggy BiscuitBiscuits. I can't last out another 9 weeks like this!

Another wedding! Ahhh. Enjoy, emblosion. As I've said before, all the best people marry in April. Grin we are days away from our 10th anniversary and so excited it almost coincides with arrival of our first baby.

Lovely walk with friends in bluebell woods today. V educational as one is a Doula. Recommends acupuncture for bringing on labour. Off to research practioners. Any recommendations for SW London out there?

Waves to all. FF XX

bemybebe · 16/04/2012 01:34

I am actually eyeing emma jane nursing bra 361 to wear from now on. I went from 34-36B/C to 38DD, so a pita to find something suitable to wear. These bras are suitable for any cup size between B-F (link here) and cheap at 10GBP. A friend had one and said it was very comfortable, even in bed. I have another emma jane, which is 36, so a bit tight and unconfortable as a result, but I am planning to get 361 sometime next week, googling to find a site that will sell me two with free p&p (yes, I am that cheap Wink).

CathFin · 16/04/2012 09:18

fireflies - Its called Sheen Uncovered - some of the bra's are quite pricey just to warn you - I always spend more than I intend to but I end up deciding its better to be comfy and have boobs in the right region of my body than end up feeling down because nothing looks good when you have a shelf of boob to try and get clothes to fit over!

I plan to go back about 2 weeks before I'm due to get some feeding bra's although its a bit of a trek now I live near Woking!

Warlin · 16/04/2012 10:03

Morning all

Emblosion good luck with the wedding..how exciting? When is it and where is the reception? So nice to be doing something exciting to take your mind off the next few long weeks! I assume you won't be honeymooning anywhere for a while Grin

McKayz good luck with the scan today...let us know how it goes.

blondie congrats on the cot. That's lovely of you dad and means you can admire it without wondering how the hell you're paying for it! MIL said she'd buy her cot but she didn't say a budget and I have expensive taste Grin. Not sure whether to tell her it was cheaper, not let her buy the mattress or just be upfront and ask her for the money Hmm

Thanks for the bra advice...I'm sick of being saggy too although I have been wearing some underwired. They are so patronizing in M&S..wouldn't even let me try an underwired. Wearing what they put me in today and it doesn't feel right.

I still have 6 weeks left of work...not sure how I'm going to cope.

What is everyone wearing these days? My mum asked me the other day if I was comfortable wearing tight tops as in her day everyone wore baggy clothes!! I tend to wear t-shirts (maternity ones that are long but tightish) and a cardigan or something but my bump is fully on show. Does everyone else hide their bumps or just let them be visible. She's made me paranoid...it's not like I'm wearing belly tops or anything!!!!

MammaInTheMaking · 16/04/2012 10:25

Warlin my bump is very "out and proud". Not ginormous but quite neat and very sticky-outy so it's on show in anything i wear. I've been wearing dresses and tops which are floaty over the bump and tight over it. Today i've got a loose top over it but because it sticks out so much there's nothing i can really do to hide it. Not that I want to hide it really, i'm very proud of my beautiful bump!
