jaggythistle · 06/02/2012 15:09

All is now calm in the Jaggy house. No work, DS having a nap, DH playing on PS3, me on computer and having eaten nearly a whole bag of M&S Belgian chocolate raisins :) :) There is cheesecake in the fridge for later too. A little Wine would be lovely, but 0% beer will have to do. Grin

I got my work done eventually, was soooo late though and DH had tried to phone me, so was a bit miffed when I finally rolled in. I promptly bit his head of with super pg lady hormone fuelled rant Blush Ok now and I am sitting doing nothing on his request so I chill out a bit!

The problem with work is that you are handing over the job to someone when you go on your days off so you can't just go, ach I''ll finish that next week really! Hope I left it ok for the person picking up today.

Touch wood DS seems a bit better, ate a proper breakfast and half his lunch so FX it's just the teeth to worry about now. All his spoons and cups are going to be so chewed up, as he is forever gnawing on them at the moment!

Good luck with the house offer Musical, v exciting!

I like Creme Eggs, but not as much as DH does. mmmmmmmmmmmm eggs.

I've had quite strong BH too Dream - I don't remember noticing them till the last few weeks last time. I had a random though tthe other day - if you are ever up here on your holidays again I will now totally be able to spot you with the monster buggy Grin There is a lady at our toddler group with twin boys and a toddler who seems to do ok so it might not always be as much doom and gloom as you've read. You sound a very strong and determined person if you don't mind me saying so I reckon you'll get the hang of it :) Was that a weird thing to write? Blush I may be talking out my arse though as I can't imagine having one more to cart about!

wants hope you get on ok, I sometimes get a bit nervous as we just have my salary with DH as a SAHD - he reckons we've been spending way too much recently so belts will need tightening...

Went and bought my pack of teeny tiny nappies and got my free change bag from Boots today. We didn't have much time to shop in the end as it was getting near lunch/nap time by the time we got out!

Nice to hear from you meconium, congrats on a wee boy in there :)

No snow here Biscuits been v cold though - working late i've had to scrape the car to come home a few times!

erm..that'll do for now.

I always do a giant post when I am on the pC not my phone!

DreamingOfPeace · 06/02/2012 15:12

biscuits, I bet I could out-eat you on creme eggs... The other day I bought 2 (on that save about half a penny if you do kind of offer) and barely, barely managed to not eat both in one sitting but may have eaten the other later in the evening anyway

DD slept all night! 9pm ish til 7:30, oh yeah!!!!!!! And is napping now Grin

what pomme?! crochet hook for second time inductions No blooming chance. Wink My friend was induced for her second birth though, early through anti-D, big baby and some other issue, and she went in, the induction was started at 10am, baby born 2 hours later at 12pm Shock How cool. Maybe it'd be like that!? I haven't seen this mum for ages but if I do, I'll ask about the crochet hook business... Honestly, I'm convinced biscuits will have her baby earlier than I have mine... I bet you pop the biscuit-crumb out at 36 weeks no problem and I waddle around whinging constantly til 38 weeks!!!!! And your DH sounds amazing- mine would not do that in a million years!

scarlet, i would have no idea what to do about a tantrum. I think the totally ignoring it is the only thing you can do, the book idea sounds great, I'll bear it in mind!! I think overall, we remember them more and get more worked up overall about them than the children though...

DreamingOfPeace · 06/02/2012 15:15

x-posts- lol jaggy, we'll totally be spottted then! Sure we'll be back, DH adores St Andrews and surrounding area, he has very fond memories of his Uni days there. Maybe it won't be so bad. Seriously looking at using some more of the money my dad is generously giving us to get some paid help- like a nanny 2 days a week or something to ensure I don't feel stretched so thin none of them get enough 1:1 time etc.

jaggythistle · 06/02/2012 15:37

I'm in line for a crochet hook too dream if no sign of labour. I asked midwife last week and she said it's be (roughly) sweeps, then crochet hook and maybe closely monitored syntocinon which I was suprised at, as I thought they'd said no chemical induction for VBAC. Hmm

I have a consultant appointment soonish though so can find out. I'd ideally like no hands up my fanjo if possible, went into labour at 40+7 last time so will be holding out for waiting and seeing where possible...

That's great that DD slept so long - hope you got a good rest too! DS normally sleeps great, but I can't sleep through myself at the moment Grin

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 06/02/2012 15:39

Bugger, I just wrote a huge post and it vanished! Stupid work internet. Perhaps it is a sign to go do some work and not spend ages writing MN posts...

jaggythistle · 06/02/2012 15:45

I hate it when that happens too Angry

sometimes If I have taken ages writing a massive one I copy the text in case it disappears when I hit post!

Wants3 · 06/02/2012 15:50

Thanks for all your kind words- it is all a bit overwhelming ATM. I have been fortunate with baby stuff so far as I have been given loads. I have clothes up to 6 months, free nappies and changing bag, cotbed at low price etc. Grandparents are buying first carseat and there is NCT, nearly new sales and shop near us. If we just pay essential bills this month and keep to supermarket budget we have £7 until next payday!

Anyway, enough moaning from me now. I bought a half price box of 6 creme eggs. We all had 1 plus ds1s girlfriend and I bagsied the last one for the baby. I will look forward to that:)

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 06/02/2012 15:52

Do you know, that actually crossed my mind before I hit post but I didn't actually do it! Grr.

After my experience last Thursday I should really know this, but what do BH feel like? I am having a weird pain at the top left-hand side of my bump and I don't know what it is. It comes and goes. It could be Bean head-butting me - it does feel harder there than anywhere else so I think that's where her head is. It doesn't really feel like the BH I had last week because they felt like my whole tummy was squirming. It's not in my ribs - it's a bit lower down. I am confused! Is there a chance that it's just wind? Blush It just seems an odd place for wind.

scarletfingernail · 06/02/2012 16:24

Not sure what BH feel like either Too. I always thought they felt like tightenings Confused

dream congratulations on another good night's sleep! Well done your DD.

I've just been chatting with my MW friend, who has just told me that they have changed they way they do inductions at our hospital. Apparently they now insert some sort of tampon-like thing which stays in and comes out with the baby. (I think that's what she said Confused). Anyway, she said it seems to make most women sick so there is NO WAY I will be having that! She said if I say I really don't want it they will try and break my waters first, so possibly another crotchet hook here.

But I'm brooking no argument that I will not need to be induced anyway. DS came of his own accord at 40+3 and I'm not entertaining the idea of this one taking any longer than that! Although I've gone back to worrying again now about them bringing my due date a week forward at the 12 week scan and this might actually mean that I might have to be induced Confused

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 06/02/2012 17:08

Also no idea on BH here either - sorry.

Scarlet - I've just read your post about the weird tampon thing to my bump - I think it's important that the baby and I are both on the same page about not hanging around for induction! ConfusedGrin

One of the good things about pg is not having to bother with anything tamponish - I'm not giving that up!

Wants3 · 06/02/2012 18:07

I think I have been having bhs for a while now. My tummy just goes really hard for a few minutes, uncomfortable but not painful. It can happen if I am too energetic, get up from bed or just randomly. Don't remember them from previous pregnancies but that could just be part of natures post birth memory wipe! :)
I had a lady ask whether I had nightmares about giving birth again when she found out it was my 3 rd time. I honestly think some people do Not think about what comes out of their mouths!
dream I know a lady who has a little toddler and twins. She has her mum around all day once a week just to provide an extra pair of hands and allow her to do one to one with toddler.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 06/02/2012 20:05

Grin at reading the tampon post to the bump, Biscuits! Brooking No Argument that no one will have to be induced, all babies will appear of their own accord at a time that is convenient for the mother (apart from Bean, who will wait for her ELCS and NOT make her own way into the world) very quickly with minimal pain and no tearing.

Wants, that's a terrible thing to say! Honestly, some people really do not engage their brains. Someone at work said to me 'you'll be hoping everything turns out okay this time, then' - um, yes, funnily enough! Also the woman who said they'd have to be widening the doors for me - f*ck off!

Oops, have just knocked a whole glass of orange squash down the side of the bed. Bugger. I suppose I'd better get up and find a cloth.

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 06/02/2012 21:09

Hello! No way can I remember everything I want to say so going to type this as quick as possible in the hope I remember as much as possible!

Dream check with local children's centre and colleges as they may be able to offer you help? My local college send their childcare students out on placements and would probably snap your hand off if you offered yourself as a placement! I know it must be scary and I worry about having two children never mind three, but you seem so capable and I am sure you will find things you can do, even if it just the local soft play in the early days.

I had the propess induction tampon Wink I was told it would fall out as you dilated, mine came out when I had to remove my underwear, not sure to this day if I technically pulled it out as I was trying to disrobe modestly.... Difficult when you have about 5 people desperate to look up your fanjo!

I think we are up to 5 boys now? Nice to see you back Meconium!

Wants sorry to hear about your money stress, I had this very recently when I wasn't able to get any sick pay! Thankfully that is sorted now, thanks to DH timely pay rise and working overtime but I know what the mentalling and stress is like. If you have most of the things sorted then hopefully you will be ok.

I have been having braxton hicks! With my being dehydrated and stomach upset, set me off a couple of times, with period pains too worryingly luckily it passed! Although not too worried if I go into labour now although would prefer to have my bag packed which I haven't finished!
What snacks are you putting in your bag?

Oh that reminds me Music yes it was me waxing lyrical about reusables. Love them.
The ju ju be packabe and Bff are changing bags that turn into rucksacks. The packabe is larger, but a nice size and is the one I have.
My be prepared arrived on Sat and I am so pleased with it, the change pad is really nice and large as is the bag! I need to finish off my shopping for my hospital bits. Oh when taking your toiletries to hospital it is better for you to take stuff you already use as it is better for the baby and recognising you. I haven't studied the ins and outs of this yet though.

Oh and I like a cream egg and bought a 12 pack which we are munching our way through. However, malteaster bunnies are wonderful, I implore you all to try them!

Shame to hear about tantrumming ill children, it is hard to deal with. If my dd is really bad I have put her in her cot before, obviously if you don't have a cot this wouldn't work for you :s

Right long post hope I haven't missed anything crucial!

DreamingOfPeace · 06/02/2012 21:48

oooh, good advice purple, will try local colleges etc. I didn't realise if you hire a nanny etc you have to pay tax, NI etc etc for them- all sounds complicated to me...

My braxton hicks are tightening and uncomfortable feeling across bottom half, amybe slightly more of my bump. Don't notice them every day though, so maybe I'm not having them regularly or maybe some I just don't tune in to. I can tell by feeling the bottom of my bump- if the whole thing feels hard, and I keep my fingers/hands there and wait and it goes softer without a baby wriggle I know for sure its BH if that helps too? (and how dreadful of your colleague to say that about hope its ok this time- what an insensitive moron!!!!)

not much time for more than a vague wave around now, hello all!

DreamingOfPeace · 06/02/2012 21:48

and btw love the way people think I'm competant at anything, I'm so not Grin

musicalmrs · 06/02/2012 22:53

Fishcake, glad to hear your positive feedback about the Moby sling! Think I'll be buying one this week after hearing lots of positive reviews.

Pomme - three weeks?! Eeek! How incredibly exciting! Thoughts of a crotchet hook are a little scary though.. but how lovely to know precisely when it's all going to kick off! :)

Biscuits, what a wonderful DH you have :)

Popcorn, yay for 5 weeks!

Jaggy, glad DS seems a bit better :)

*Scarlet, that tantrum sounds horrible :( And I suppose it seemed a lot worse to you as it's the first time anything like that happened, and you had to develop coping strategies. I'm sure if the situation ever arises again you'll feel much more in control, and much more like you know what's going on for both his and your own sake!

Purple, thanks for the advice on changing bags! After my failed trip to Mothercare to look at them last weekend, I've rescheduled it for the coming one Grin. Will be making the order of the trial reusables this week, then hopefully convincing DH that we should invest in some..!

Firstly, I have you all to blame for my constant yearning for creme eggs I think. After battling my way to the station this morning, I treated myself to one from the shop..! I don't understand all of you who aren't fans of the wonderful creme egg. I must second Purple's suggestion of the Malteaser bunnies though! I'm resisting the urge to buy a 12 pack of creme eggs as I know I'll eat them all ridiculously quickly. However, DH is away next week (over valentines day too, how rude!), so I may have to buy some to console myself!

Secondly... they accepted our offer! Grin Thanks for all the luck - I'm sure the brooking helped. We didn't knock much off of the price, but it was priced to sell, so we're happy! One step closer to owning a house - and to moving! Next step is surveys I guess, so I suppose we sit tight and wait. Eek!

I've developed really bad heartburn over the last few days - can't complain really as it's only started to get quite annoying. Can MWs give prescriptions, or do I have to go to my doctors to get jumbo bottles of Gaviscon?

hawthers · 07/02/2012 03:44

Brilliant news musical so pleased that your offer was accepted sounds like it hasn't been too hideous finding your new place.

Sorry to say with those adding to their family's it really is a whole other level with 2. Plus ds1 is reacting to the whole new baby thing with understandable bad behaviour. Anyone got any hot tips for d/w hitting aimed at Dh and i?

Very exciting to see more of you guys approaching the finish line - will be on the night shift brooking away for all.

musicalmrs · 07/02/2012 07:54

Hi Hawthers. How's the bf going now Hope the specialist has completely renewed your confidence :-) Sorry to hear about DS's behaviour.. No advice I'm afraid, but hope he starts adapting soon.

If I could post a link to what will hopefully be our house I would - but the listing never made it as far as the internet! It went on the market Fri morn, the estate agents rang us to suggest it, we viewed on Fri evening and again on Sat, then put the offer in first thing yesterday! I have a few photos on my phone from when we viewed it last, but they're all a bit rubbish - provided the survey comes back ok, I'll take some when we go round to measure things and upload them somewhere! :-)

Provided everything continues to go smoothly, we have had quite an easy house hunting journey. Viewed seven houses in all.

On the train already, feeling ill and achey bump. Thank goodness it's half term next week!

Biscuitsandtea · 07/02/2012 08:00

Musical YAY for having the offer accepted! That's fabulous news Grin. Brooking that everything goes through smoothly and quickly for you now. A chain of only 2 purchases is pretty good so I'm sure it'll all be great!

Hawthers how are you getting on my lovely? How is little Farley coming along? I've lost track - how many weeks is he now?

For the hitting thing, I think that would probably earn DS a time out. It's hard with hitting to find something you can do that keeps you out of range of their flailing limbs Confused. How old is DS1 again?

Having said that, I have no idea what I will do when I have 2 of them so I don't know if that makes a difference as to what's the best thing iyswim. You know, if his doing it is related to the new baby etc.

pommedenoel · 07/02/2012 08:39

Hawthers - Oh gosh! You are scaring me slightly, I was hoping you were going to come back and see 'oo yes, ds1 is fine now, everything's amazing!'. I've ordered a book called 'Second Baby A Survival Guide' from Amazon! I think hitting would earn dd a good telling off (she's only 22 months so no punishments as such yet) but it must be harder when you know why they're doing and it's a pretty valid reason...

Musical - Wow! That was quick, amazing news! I feel rough today (and look even rougher..) too.

Dream _ You do sound a bit like superwoman on here, especially as your dh sounds like he can't/won't cut you much slack at the moment (mine neither so not being criticising or nosey or anything bad!). I'm sure if you're determined not to use childcare you'll manage just fine. You could contact Surestart centre nearest you and ask about home start for help with house stuff.

Biscuitsandtea · 07/02/2012 08:46

Oooh pomme home start is a good idea - Dream, my mum used to volunteer for them and they used to help with multiple births and I am sure with another so young they'd be able to offer you an extra pair of hands for a little while each week?

If you'd like I can ask my mum what sort of thing they could do?

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 07/02/2012 10:56

Ah yes homestart is what it is called! Ours is connected to our children's centre.
Dream maybe you don't give yourself enough credit for how well you are doing?

Music Congratulations! How exciting, new house and baby! Slightly Envy :)
Oh my Mothercares locally are all rubbish for changing bags so don't get too excited. A bag that is easy to clean is essential, hence I love the JJBs as they go through the washing machine. :o
And gallons of gaviscon can be put on repeat prescription (mine is) but needs to be done by GP.

1-2 dc is going to be a breeze

What is worrying me is finding a smart bf dress for family wedding when I could be only 6 weeks post partum!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 07/02/2012 10:59

Ooooo Musical!! Congrats on the accepted offer! It sounds like you and this house are meant to be!!!

Hawthers I'm glad everything with little Farley is going well, and we'll up the No Brooking for DS1 to start adjusting to the situation. Poor little tyke. It's a big change for him, but soon he'll be thick as thieves with his little brother and unable to remember life without him!

Morning to everyone else!!

Biscuitsandtea · 07/02/2012 13:20

My Gaviscon is on prescription too but also from the doc. Although I didn't need an actual appt for it - they did it as a call back phone appt jobbie. I think the words 'pregnant woman' and 'heartburn' should be convincing enough for them!

When I was pg with DS the mw could do prescriptions for it but that seems to have changed.

jenfraggle · 07/02/2012 13:27

Musical glad to hear your offer was accepted, is there nothing that we can't fix on this thread? :)

I have suffered from heartburn for the past few years, had some lovely tablets that sorted it out quickly. Nasty dr said I'm not allowed them while pregnant and as I can't stand the taste of anything I am allowed I just get DH to wind me. I tell him it's good practise for when Spud gets here.
