I had a good midwife appointment this morning, everything was good although she had to chase baby around to hear his heartbeat! She has combined my 28 week bloods with my glucose load test so I don't have to be stuck twice in the same week. That is on the 20th and then I see her on 24th hopefully with results. DH is going to come to that apt so he can get to hear baby too!

pommedenoel · 03/02/2012 14:37

That's good to hear wants! Dh hasn't heard the heartbeat this time round either. Think he did once with dd.

Biscuits - Am doing the tea as I really like the taste. I am 36 on Sunday so I started at 35.

Biscuitsandtea · 03/02/2012 14:40

Is it 'normal* to like the tea, or are you 'odd' Wink? I'm just debating whether to get the tablets or tea bags.

I think last time I might have had tablets but must have only taken them for a week or perhaps 2 as DS decided he'd had enough of them and came out!

Also, where did you get the tea bags from pomme? Can I get them at the supermarket?

Glad you had a good mw appt wants - and great that they can combine the GTT and 28 week bloods for you. My DH has been to all of my mw appts as they are always on a Thursday morning and I have to have DS with me! Confused

pommedenoel · 03/02/2012 14:44

I ordered them from holland and barrett as I couldn't find them in the supermarket (did last time). I think I am a little bit 'odd' but it really isn't an offensive taste!

scarletfingernail · 03/02/2012 15:02

I didn't have any RLT last time. I'm going to have a go with it this time though, I'd rather not go overdue this time because there's several close family birthdays 1/2/3/4/5 days after my due date. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but in an ideal world I'd like he/she to have it's own birthday.

Is it really foul?

pomme sorry you have a poorly DD, I hope she feels less grotty soon. I took DS to the GP on Monday because he was complaining about his poor ear. Sounds very similar, there's so much of it about. He also loves going to the doctors, sits as good as gold and does as he's asked. He's asked to go to the doctors again every day since then, I'm a bit worried he might start saying he's ill when he's not. Anyone would think I never took him anywhere and he was treating it as a day out Grin

I've pulled myself together, am feeling much better now. Just going to wake DS from his nap and snuggle up with him and watch a dvd.

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 03/02/2012 15:13

Glad you're feeling better Scarlet - enjoy your snuggly dvd. Am a bit Envy that your ds still naps though!

It's not exactly the same as going to the doctors but we drove past PC world the other day and DS was desperate to go there for some reason. It's next to the supermarket we go to sometimes and whenever we drive into the supermarket car park he goes 'Peee Ceeeeee World'. So as we drive past the other day he said, 'oh we haven't been in there for ageeeeeeeesssssss Mummy - can we go tomorrow before Pre-School?'

I was a bit Hmm - we've actually never been into any PC World with him so I'm not sure where his obsession has come from. I suspect he would have been sorely disappointed if we had gone for an outing there!

Also, is this a bit odd? We were in the car the other week and DS decided he wanted to go to the loo. We pulled off the motorway and went into a Premier Inn car park which was close by. i took him in and asked if they minded if we used the loo (I never say no to a loo trip myself these days Wink). While we were in the loo, DS said to me, 'did we stay here with Daddy? And I slept on a funny bed?'

Now, we hadn't stayed at that premier inn, but in April last year we did stay in a Premier Inn near Newcastle and DS did indeed sleep on the sofa bed, which might have been a bit weird? Could he possibly be putting that all together? I mean they do all look the same don't they!

I've gone off track again. Back to RLT. I thought it was to make your contractions more efficient rather than to actually send you into labour sooner? Although they do tell you not to take it before X weeks don't they so maybe it does encourage labour too?

DreamingOfPeace · 03/02/2012 15:17

biscuits, despite the complete lack of evidence base around it I swear by RLT Wink After my hideously long labour, my second stage 'pushing' bit was 15 or 20 min. I took copious amounts of RLT but only from 38 weeks but that was because I didn't want to do anything that could possibly induce me to go into labour right at the end of August!!! Some RLT is hideous, but I had the holland and barratt stuff and it was nice. This time from 34 weeks I will be doing it again in case I have a VB! Someone gave me some called 'expectancy tea' and it tasted horrible...

oh too , my BH were exactly like that last time. By the end they were so strong and so regular on the trace after my waters broke two doctors were convinced I was in early labour and I had to say well, in that case I have been for the last 2 weeks!! I never went into labour... But it is worrying, keep resting, and glad Bean is moving well.

pomme, I'm eating a hideous amount of junk food, mostly chocolate... lots of creme eggs, chocolate bars, cookies, biscuits.... it's terrible! Hope your DD is ok soon. How sweet sh opened her mouth for the doctor Smile

purple, which nappy bag did you go for?

DreamingOfPeace · 03/02/2012 15:22

oh, missed loads of posts! I agree pomme, holland and barratt RLT is lovely! You're not meant to take it before 34 weeks I think. And I think I agree with biscuits, it's not meant to send you into labour, but speed up second stage as 'primes' your uterus Hmm ?? increase BH etc and gets it more ready for labour.

DreamingOfPeace · 03/02/2012 15:23

biscuits, I'm well impressed with his memory- what a little star! Sounds like he was remembering to me

Biscuitsandtea · 03/02/2012 15:25

Are they supposed to help with the pushing bit then? I couldn't get anywhere at all pushing with DS - literally nothing was happening. Hence the forceps because we had progressed exactly nowhere.

Mind you I'm not convinced I was doing it right. Everyone says 'you'll know when you want to push' and I never did. In the end the mw said she thought I should, although I still wasn't feeling anything.

And then I don't think I was pushing 'right' - she said to listen to my body, which was staying totally mute on the topic so I was sort of trying to do what I thought I should be doing, based mainly on what you see people do on TV. It really wasn't working for us!

Biscuitsandtea · 03/02/2012 15:27

How was your DD last night Dream? Hopefully another good night?

DreamingOfPeace · 03/02/2012 16:07

Push like you're trying to poo was what I was told! RLT is indeed meant to help pushing stage, by 'toning' your uterus I think and increasing your BH. Absolutely no good evidence it does a single thing for you but funny how slow my entire labour was and then a 15 min second stage...

DD was asleep by 9:30pm and up 3 times before 2:45 am but fine from then til 7:30, but only once did I have to cuddle/ spend a good while creeping out of her room. But it does seem a good night recharges her for the antics of the next, ARGH! And now she has literally just started with diarrhoea, poor little tike. Just changed a nappy and its full again already, on for less than 5 min. She'll hate being done again, so may see how much more there is as she keeps doing more- yuck.

Biscuitsandtea · 03/02/2012 16:09

Oh Dream, the poor little thing can't be poorly again!!!!!

I'm brooking that it's just a one off episode - albeit a few nappies worth - hopefully its an isolated thing?

Biscuitsandtea · 03/02/2012 16:13

On the pushing point, my yoga teacher was getting us to make 'labour' noises last week and was showing the difference between a scream and a sort of gutteral 'ahhh' and how it used different muscles. It all kind of made sense and kind of ties in I guess - the noises we were 'supposed' to be making used the same muscles as pooing!

As I say - I was doing my best to recreate those oh so realistic labours you see in films and all those noises they make sort of come from your upper abdominals probably? And a scream all comes from your lungs / head. Whereas when you try to make a noise much lower it does use your lower abs and you can see how that might actually be helpful in trying to push a baby out!

PopcornMouse · 03/02/2012 16:20

Hello ladies :)

Thank you for your kind words in conception. I'm barely pregnant and I'm not sure I quite consider myself a graduate yet (is that odd?) but I thought I might come and dip my toe in the water, so to speak :o

You are all positively glowing, by the way! :)

Biscuitsandtea · 03/02/2012 16:26

How lovely to see you Popcorn - feel free to pop in as often as you like. I promise to keep the 'pushing' talk to a minimum Blush

It does feel weird to be 'graduating' - takes a while to get used to actually being pg and not ttc anymore. Can you remind me how long you were ttc for? (If you don't mind my asking?). It took me a good long while to get my head round the idea that I wasn't actually TTC anymore.

Even now I sometimes forget I'm pregnant! I'll suddenly think 'oh I cant remember what cycle day I'm on - argh' and then remember that I'm on like CD200 or something :)

But you are naturally most welcome here (especially when you bring baked goods Grin), as indeed are all the TTCers too!

scarletfingernail · 03/02/2012 16:26

Welcome Popcorn. When's your due date?

Biscuits does your yoga teacher's name start with an F?

dream brooking for your DD that it's not another illness.

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 03/02/2012 16:29

Actually CD226 apparently!

Nope - an S?

I feel guilty every time I write Yep or Nope on here as DS tells me off if I answer a question with yep instead of Yes. 'Don't say 'yep', you say 'Yes'' Hmm

I mean where has he got that from? Not me certainly!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 03/02/2012 16:30

Good to hear the RLT tips! I'll be stocking up on that in March in a bid to avoid any interventions!

Too glad everything seems to be okay now, hope your get your revised consultant appt soon. It's interesting that you didn't know you were having BH. All my books, calendars, apps etc keep saying that by now my BH should be getting stronger, when as far as I can tell I haven't had any at all yet! Not that I'm complaining by the way, I'm just surprised that they're apparently quite common from so early on (27 weeks). I wonder now if I've been having them but mistaking it for baby movement, she does seem to move around almost constantly! Either way, I don't mind if they hold off for a few more weeks!

I just rang the hospital for my blood test results, turns out I passed the GTT and my 28 week bloods came back normal as well! Yay! Glad I rang, they told me to call on Monday but when I mentioned this to my Mum she thought that was a ridiculously long time for them to test some bood and suggested ringing today instead - turns out she was right! Such a relief, so my chocolate addiction can continue unimpended Grin

Our car seat arrived this afternoon, and I spent a pleasant five minutes just sitting on the sofa staring at the car seat on the floor and imagining coming home from the hospital with my LO for the first time. Whenever I talk to parents with LOs under 3 about being pregnant, the one story they ALL come out with is walking through their front door for the first time with their new baby being carried in the car seat. They all apparently put the car seat down on the floor for a moment and just sit down and look at their new family member in shock/awe. I've heard the story so many times from so many different people it's almost like I can already "remember" it happening to me! Grin Can't wait!

Also Dream my conker Pacapod Portland also arrived today and it's beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuuuuutiful! Grin I think I'm in love! Even DH had a good time opening up all the little bags and pockets, he really likes it. Our one concern is that it's a little more compact than expected. Now for me that's probably a good thing, preventing me from carrying around lots of unnecessary extras! However for you, with twins, I'd be surprised if it is big enough to hold everything.

By the way, many thanks for the baby led weaning explanations yday, they made perfect sense. Sounds like a good way to minimise pureeing to me! Sign me up! Grin

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 03/02/2012 16:33

Oooo missed Popcorn's post before! Welcome welcome! Congratulations! Take as much time as you need to let it all sink in, and then get comfy on a sofa - great to have you with us!

Biscuitsandtea · 03/02/2012 16:37

Yay for your tip top blood Scream. Let's all have a creme egg to celebrate!

And your pacapod looks awesome Scream - I love it!! And the little feeder pod converts into a little toddler backpack too :) How cute!

Although I wonder since it also has a pram hook, if it you could use it to keep a toddler under instead of a buggy board when you're on DC2 WinkHmm. Just pop the bag on their back, clip them onto the pram handle and off you go......

You've brought a tear to my eye thinking about the teeny little baby in the car seat thing. You're right I can absolutely remember that bit, and taking him out of the hospital in it too. And I still love to look at my maxi cosi and just remember!

PopcornMouse · 03/02/2012 16:58

Yeah I'm struggling a bit making the transition, Biscuit - I'm still entering my ?symptoms? on FF every day Hmm :o
We were ttc for about a year the first few months are a bit hazy . I'm terrified it will all go wrong and we'll be back at square one, and have to go through another year of hell Confused but tbh I'm dealing with that by just not thinking about it Blush :)

October 8th I think, scarlet ! Just in time for a novelty pumpkin babysuit?? :o

Hi scream ! Great news on the chocolate blood test results :)

scarletfingernail · 03/02/2012 17:10

Ooh Popcorn that's a great due date, (I would say that Wink) fab birthday in terms of school year.
I also got my BFP after using the CBFM. It worked both with DS and this time. I started TTC this time without it, then when I did get to using it again I found out I was ovulating 4 days later than I thought I was, so it's highly rated by me.

Biscuits DS doesn't always have a nap. It depends how hectic his morning has been, I can tell by his face and behaviour whether it's required or not. I'm always grateful when he has one.

OP posts:
jaggythistle · 03/02/2012 17:31

glad I'm not the only one biscuits, sitting here a bit misty eyed at work. we actually have a pic of DS in his car seat on the living room floor in a frame somewhere. he has a squashed wee newborn face and is asleep.

he still looks so cute asleep. i sneak in and gaze peep at him and steal a wee cuddle when i get home from my evening shift cos i miss him when i don't see him till the morning. Blush bit hormonal these days me Grin

hope you're feeling ok too, that must have been stressful!

right, must do some work, will try to catch up more when I'm on my break eating my tea and 400 other snacks.
