Hi everyone
I'm dropping by as I wanted to check on you all for baby news. I don't want to miss any announcements.

We're feeling much better here since the mc. Last week, when my dp went back to work, went surprisingly smoothly. It got a bit on top of me last night, but I think it was just build up of tiredness over the week. In general though, we are coping really well.

I was thinking about all the kind wishes you sent me when it happened, and want you all to know how much it means to have that support. Thank you all again.

I'll keep checking by to make sure you're all keeping well

xx

NinjaChipmunk · 28/01/2012 22:46

little lovely to hear from you! So glad you are doing well. It's good to hear you sounding so positive. Make sure you take lots of care of yourself and rest up. Xxx.

Biscuitsandtea · 29/01/2012 07:28

Little lovely to hear from you. Keep taking it easy - we're all brooking on your behalf. Hopefully we'll see you back here soon, once you're ready. Take care xxx

Wants3 · 29/01/2012 12:59

Hello again all, waves to little
well I have been back on gluten for a few days, haven't had prolonged tummy pain or dizzy spells and feel more energetic so I am leaving my diet alone for now.
I have been baby shopping this morning at a little village hall nearly new sale. I came home with 2 sleep suits,2 outfits, a grobag,a blanket,a soft toy and a breast pump to try out. All for under £10!:) they happen monthly so I am sure I wil go again regularly.
Tmi but I am feeling a bit sore and had a bit of spotting this morning (24+3) it seems to have stopped now and baby moving so I am trying not to worry.
I hope you are all having a vaguely relaxing day?!

pommedenoel · 29/01/2012 13:25

Little - thank you for coming back. You and your dh sound very strong, your dd is very lucky. Look after yourself. Xx

Any tips from anyone on toddler fussy eating? Dd has been a bit of a pain with food for the last 10 months or so ( with brief respites that make me realise just how easy life could be from time to time!). She just won't sit down to eat proper meals - she just wants snacks or to eat on the move all the time. It only takes a little but of indulgence from me (friend bought round chocolate and beetroot cake this week and I've let her have quite a bit) and she just totally stops eating meals! I'm am reaching the end of my tether and getting angry with her now. Not sure whether to try harsh approach this pm after failed lunch attempt and not feed her anything till tea time...

I think having a newborn might make it easier in a way - less time to worry and get angry with her!

Purple - hope you're feeling better
Wants - glad your tummy issues have eased
Scarlet - hope ds is okay and you had a nice evening.

On phone and can't remember who else I wanted to name check!

Wants3 · 29/01/2012 13:54

pomme ime ignore toddler fussy eating. Reduce snacks, offer small meals. If she doesn't eat take it away with no fuss. Getting cross can sometimes make it an issue. It is a phase! :)

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 29/01/2012 14:21

Little it's so lovely to see you, thanks for popping in! Glad to hear you're feeling strong (overall) and I hope you continue to feel on top of it all. Can't wait to have you back here, when the time is right.

Scarlet how did the meal go? Hope you had a lovely time. Was your DS okay overnight?

Wants I'm sorry to hear about the spotting, but I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. Stay strong, we're No Brooking for you!

Pomme as a clueless first timer I can't offer any experience on the toddler front. I think I'm going to be quite a strict Mum tho (at least that's how I imagine I will be) and I know when I was little if you didn't eat a meal you just didn't get any other food until the next meal. No child has ever died of hunger in just a few hours, and once they're hungry I imagine a child will be more receptive to the food you try to feed them later on? Of course that might be a naive view! Everything seems simple when you don't actually have a child! I suspect it'll be a steep learning curve for me when I encounter the reality of feeding a toddler!!

DreamingOfPeace · 29/01/2012 15:12

scream, that's exactly how i thought I'd be as a mum. I am not at all though!! However my dd does exactly the same as pommes, doesn't eat meals regularly. I end up offering bread and butter, and I still give her some snacks. Smaller snacks help a little, but times she's grizzly and whingey with hunger having had no/minimal snack she'll still refuse her meal after maybe 2 mouthfuls. I can't bear hunger adding to my nighttime problems so she gets banana/ yoghurt regardless (sometimes she'll eat that, sometimes she won't). She seems to be growing fine- she's 10.2kg now, according to my bathroom scales (she loved watching it flash and weigh her!). And pomme, it drives me crackers when she refuses nice healthy meals and wants snacks...

So lovely to hear from you little, sure it'll be hard, but hope you're pg again as soon as you want to be. Xxx

Hope all ok with everyone else, dd.just woken up so must be off...

hawthers · 29/01/2012 16:51

pomme sympathise with the rubbish eating. We're in a 'good' phase at the mo but frequently have refusal.

We tend to offer bread and cheese as a last resort if ds hasn't eaten anything at all just so we can get some sleep so he isn't too hungry.

scarletfingernail · 29/01/2012 17:17

DH and I had a lovely evening out yesterday and DS has been absolutely fine thank goodness. I think he'd have been ill by now if he was going to. DS and I have been on our own again today, we've been out shopping and bought a lovely new Purflo Sleepsac for the baby. We got on really well with these with DS, they're the only make we could find which had sleeves, (our house is very old and cold) but we weren't aware of them until he was about 6 months old so we hadn't got a smaller sized one for the baby that we could re-use.

pomme you have my sympathies. We've not been through any fussy eating phases, but I know plenty of people who have with their DC. From what I've heard it is usually only a phase and it will pass if not much fuss is paid to it. Maybe try reducing or even cutting out the snacks and offer small meals that you know she likes. Loads people are grazers rather than meal eaters, so as long as her diet is well balanced try not to worry too much. One other thing, does she drink a lot? A friend's DD guzzles water and squash all day and hardly ever manages even half of her meal. My friend recently reduced the amount of fluids she was given and that has made a huge difference.

Little thanks for coming back and letting us know how you are. Sounds as though you're handling it really well.

I'm going to start off with an apology, I am bound to forget to respond to something in this post so if I miss you out and you've posted about something then it is an accident.

hawthers, glad boob lady has been able to give you some reassurance and your dh is probably trying to get his head round it all

little lovely to see you

pomme can't help with the fussy eating, i'm still fussy at 30!

wants spotting is nothing to worry about, I've decided that all is fine with you and it is probably your body reacting to the gluten again in a weird way just to mess with your mind

scarlet I hope that ds is still ok and that the orchid passes through his system without causing any problems

dream don't know how you do it. You do realise you are currently pg with twins, don't you?

purple how are you feeling today and what did the mw say?

too I'm not even thinking about nursing bras yet, will wait til later and see what size I am so no help there I'm afraid

biscuits glad your diabetes test gave the right result, hope mine will be the same although with my needle phobia I don't know how I will be able to cope with it. DH will take the day off work to come with me as I will have at least 2 panic attacks while I'm there and heavens knows what state I'll be in. I doubt I'll be able to walk to the car even for a while after the 2nd test. I struggle after 1 so who knows with 2...

musical good luck with the house hunting. Remember it is important not just to look for what you like but also viewing ones you are not sure about as that should help you make your mind up if it's a yes or no. If there is something you like about a house, you will probably always like it. Concentrate on negatives as all houses will have something and then decide if it is something you can live with or if it will just annoy you more as time goes on. It is very useful to view a house and decide something is a definite no no as that will help you to shortlist future properties. If in doubt then view it!

Right, I think I've replied to everything now so time for some 'me' time

I think that finally at 24 weeks I'm feeling some movement. It started a couple of days ago but every so often I get a feeling towards my left side that I'm calling blipping. It's a bit like a pulsating sensation, just 2-3 blips but I've had it a few times over the last few days. It's not wind so I've decided that Spud is finally making me aware that they are there. I've also put on some lbs and am back up to the weight I was when I fell pg and my belly is changing shape, still not bigger but a different shape. I'm guessing from this that Spud has grown bigger and stronger and is now able to get past my anterior placenta and rather ample belly to get my attention.

DreamingOfPeace · 29/01/2012 18:34

Hooray for movement Jen, sure spud'll soon be driving you crackers with it :-)

Any update for us purple? What did the mw say?

Hope mini H listened to the boob lady and is troffing well hawthers

I can confirm it is a bad idea to take a 16 month old to the zoo alone. Very exhausting, but lovely to have a few last 'big' days out with dd. I'd not take 3 without help!! Park this morning for duck action plus playground, then dd and i went for a play outside this afternoon, and she was doing well walking and we ended up at the playground near us- down a hill. When the little tike didn't want to come home and wriggled and struggled as i tried to carry her up the hill I had to admit defeat and ring dh to come and rescue me with her trike!!! I am tired... Worked out I'm carrying nearly as much baby weight already as at 40 weeks with dd with a total of 5lb4 of babies, plus 2placentas and 2 lots of amniotic fluid.

musicalmrs · 29/01/2012 19:34

Evening! Sorry for the radio silence - a mad few days here.

Scarlet, belated happy anniversary! Glad you had a lovely time, and glad DS is doing ok :)

Scream, yes, this will be the first house we've owned! We've been renting for five years (three of which we were students), and it's going to be so wonderful to finally have a place we can do whatever we want to! I can see why it would be almost as significant as your wedding day - it's very important to both of us too.

jen, we're viewing a complete range of places, don't worry! Having only moved last a year ago (into rented, as we only had a month to find somewhere, which was cutting it fine for a mortgage!), we already have quite a clear idea of what we want. We've viewed six houses so far, and there's a couple we're very interested in, so we're slowly getting there!

Little, lovely to hear from you. I hope you're taking things easy, and as feeling ok as you can be.

Wants, sounds like you picked up some real bargains! Sorry to hear about the spotting, but sounds like you're handling it well - I was told by the doctors that spotting later on was both very common, and a sign of doing too much..!

Hawthers, glad the lactation lady was helpful. I hope things are going a little better now, and that you're feeling more confident that you're doing things right!

Dream, you must be exhausted after the zoo trip! Very brave of you though - and I'm sure DD loved it? :)

So.. up and down here. Viewed three houses over the past three days. Saw a very interesting one yesterday afternoon, that we're incredibly tempted by - three bed end of terrace, so room for the future too. There's a couple of things that need doing (like a ground floor cloakroom), and a couple of other niggles.. the biggest worry is the living room though. Until we could get a conservatory on there we'd need to fit the lounge, dining table and a piano in the lounge. It's a bit tight, but we think it's do-able.. what's the betting that the only place we think we could put the piano turns out to be where the radiator is though? Didn't notice when we were there, can't see it in the photos! Making it worse is that we can't view it again until at least Wednesday to see if our suspicions are confirmed..

Also did some baby shopping at the Tesco baby event - so we now have clothes, nappies, breast pump and bottles etc - we're basically just about prepared.

Also feeling highly hormonal today. DH left earlier to spend a couple of nights away for work - saw a lovely note from him as soon as I got in and have been in waves of tears ever since. Ridiculous! When we first moved here, he had to go to Bristol for the rest of the week and I was left alone with no tv and no internet for a week, having to navigate scary non-London trains - no problem, but yet he goes away for two nights now and I go into meltdown. At least I realise I'm being a little ridiculous I suppose!

DreamingOfPeace · 29/01/2012 20:06

Eek, I'm not prepared yet at all musical- nothing for hospital bag like maternity pads, nothing for babies, no bottles just in case, no suitable trousers or big pants in case I have a CS (the 60% of twins born by CS sticks with me!).... Must get organised just in case they're early... House viewing sounds positive. Depending where the pipes are we had a quote of £300 to put a radiator in our old bathroom (had no source of heat plus 2 outside walls, so were going to do it for baby's first winter, then thank god we part exchanged!) So could be an option to move radiator as a temporary measure til you got the cash to add a conservatory? Dd did indeed love the zoo, but i think it will have been our last big day out, without daddy at least, as I was so tired and sore I was hobbling back to the car.

And scarlet, glad your ds has proved plants can be eaten without ill effects- surely there'd have been something by now if not?!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 29/01/2012 21:15

Hi Little lovely to see you and glad your feeling strong. :)

Pomme I haven't had to deal with much fussy eating, but I accept that by evening meal time Dd is usually quite full and not as interested as she eats a lot in the day. I would just make sure that you only offer healthy food and if not much is eaten then so be it. As for not sitting at the table, either discipline or strap her in. Again, I usually find the evening meal is when Dd goes wandering so, I will take her food away and tough!

Jen I too am glad not to have had GTT as I am needlephobic! If diabetes is found then often it can be controlled through diet.

Dream I too am trying to enjoy all the precious moments with DD as I can, like drying her toes and all the one on one time I can give her as soon she will be sharing me :( Do be careful and know your limits though, I am terrible for this myself and I think the SPD was almost sent to me so that I would take it easy!

The MW didn't call me, which I would be annoyed about but I feel about 1000x better. I have had a lie in, and a nap, I have had my first proper meal too! I am guessing I am going to be a ravening beast now and eat everything that isn't nailed down as that is what normally happens if I have not eaten properly in a while.
Thanks for your concern everyone it means a lot :)

I am a bit more organised now as ordered boob and maternity pads, cotton wool .etc in my monster shop tomorrow.

I am a bit stuck as I need a massive changing bag, (I want it for hosp too) but I can't find one I really, really like. :s

Is anyone having the strep B swab? I think I can ask for it, I am not sure though as it means I will be hooked up to a drip if I am positive and I do not want that sort of labour. :( But then it would be better for the baby? What is your thoughts on this?

pommedenoel · 30/01/2012 07:39

Unless it happens naturally earlier then 4 weeks today I will be in hospital for induction! Eeek! I have the anaesthetist this pm to discuss my medication and epidurals and the hideous moon boots I have to wear during labour.

Purple - I went with a storksak which is gorgeous (double the budget I wanted to spend though - pops!). I'm going to use my old one for labour though I think. Glad you're feeling so much better. As for the drip I would go for anything that helps baby but that kind of labour sits fine with me so much easier for me to say I guess.

Thanks for all food comments guys - calm, calm, calm seems to be the thing!

DreamingOfPeace · 30/01/2012 08:22

purple,I had loads of trouble with awful, persistent thrush last time and had a swab to check it was just that and not streb b. Strep B is awful if the baby gets it so I'd want the drip! Is it not something can be zapped prior to labour if you find out early enough and re-swab or am i being thick? I was negative though (I assume, never heard anything). Had all the induction crap anyway though...

Wow pomme, final countdown!!!! How exciting. Did you go into labour earlier last time or just in for your induction as planned?

I hear pacapod bags are quite big. Anyone got one to know if its true? I suppose I'll need a bigger one with twins and toddler all in nappies. Rubbish, hadn't thought of that.

pommedenoel · 30/01/2012 08:31

Dream - My old one is a pacapod and although it's really good having food/bottles and nappy stuff all separated out into the pods there is no space for mum stuff so the middle bit which had no closure always had my purse and phone sticking out. If I didn't just go to baby groups I would have been worried about things being stolen all the time. That was the Napier.

Just went into my induction last time at 38 +3. Baby dropped quite a bit yesterday though which I wasn't expected...anyone else had a drop yet? Actually am I next??

pommedenoel · 30/01/2012 08:33

Tilder next but she hasn't posted for a while.

Biscuitsandtea · 30/01/2012 08:41

Morning all,

So, this strep b thing - is that something we've been routinely tested for? What is it? What does it mean?

And what moonboots for labour Pomme?

So how many weeks would you be if you get to your induction in 4 weeks time? Kind of odd having a deadline on it isn't it. But just think only 4 weeks until all those newborn snuggles Smile.

It can't be that much more (6 weeks?) until Too's date as well.... Smile

And purple when are you due?

I still am finding that this pg is going so slowly. Christmas seems a life time ago and I'm still only 32 weeks tomorrow. So still forever to go Confused. Just need to pack my hospital bag and I'm all ready though :)

Dream that's true you might need a whopper of a bag, mind you you perhaps won't need to double up on everything for the twins - there must be some economies of scale? Like only one pack of baby wipes etc. How did dd get on last night?

Biscuitsandtea · 30/01/2012 08:47

Oooh, just checked the stats thread too.

Now purple you're due 9 March - did your first one come early or late? Do you reckon you'll pop before then?

So I noticed that as Pomme says Tilder is next but hasn't posted for a while, then Pomme, Too and Purple all within a week or two.

Then there are Hiding, love, meme and calypso, none of whom have posted for a while.

Then it's me!!!!!! Eeeek! My family seem to be running some kind of book on what day this one will be born. My over dramatic mother thinks 1 March Hmm. So that would only be 26 days early then Hmm

Pomme - I have a feeling I asked you this the other day, but how come you have to have an induction?

pommedenoel · 30/01/2012 08:59

Biscuits - I have APS syndrome (or Hughes syndrome it's sometimes called). Means my blood clots a lot. Makes pg hard and undiagnosed APS gives you just a 20% chance of taking a baby to term. Thankfully diagnosed with lots of meds and monitoring it goes up to over 80% chance. They don't like you to get much past 38 weeks though as the risk of stillbirth goes high at that point. This time I've held out for 39 plus 1 for induction as they put me 5 days forward at my scan and I know those days don't exist. I'm also planning a sweep the week before which I would love, love to work!

The moon boots are a step up from support socks and are hideous. They are electric (rendering me immobile) and puff up and down with a big noise. I know labour is undignified anyway but they somehow make it even worse!

Biscuitsandtea · 30/01/2012 09:14

Ah i see, thank you Pomme. Sounds like they have you well under control there though? So the moon boots, is that something to do with the Hughes thing? Sounds a bit hideous! Do the moon boots mean anything else for your labour? Like, if you're immobile anyway, are you more likely to have an epidural or anything? Do you have to wear the boots even if your feet aren't on the floor iyswim?

Sorry, I'm being so nosey! I'm just fascinated by all the different things!

Biscuitsandtea · 30/01/2012 09:15

Does the blood clotting make the risk of DVT type things worse? Hence the boots?
