notso why were they going to bring your ds out early? What was the outcome?

Thanks for everyone's kind words.

notso · 18/01/2012 10:09

bushy I was carrying too much fluid so there was a risk of my waters breaking early, was told to be ready from 30 weeks.
I had long periods of contractions stopping and starting from about 32 weeks. There is a risk if there is a lot of fluid of the cord coming down first, especially if it isn't the first pregnancy as the head is less likely to be engaged until labour fully starts. They said if I did go early it may be better to do a section to prevent this.
On top of this DS was measuring large, I was being investigated for the liver condition O.C and had S.P.D.
In the end I had monitoring three times a week from the hospital, to check DS was ok, several scans to look for cord position, measure fluid levels and DS's growth, I also had a couple of stays in hospital incase my contractions didn't stop as they were showing up strong on the monitor.
Ironically by 36.6 weeks I actually was asking for induction, I was so big I felt my skin was going to split, I couldn't breathe if I lay down because of all the pressure, the S.P.D was agony and having hours of contractions was knackering me. The Consultant said it would be best to wait another week as DS was obviously happy, and was doing well.
I went home in tears but my waters broke that night, labour didn't start fully until the following afternoon and he was born in just under an hour. He was large 9lb at 37 weeks.

hi can I join in? posted a few times and think I might have appeared in an April thread before. Due on 25th of April and I'm 27 wks today. Not sure what we're having yet, opted for a surprise.

Not finishing up work until Friday the 13th of April and I've just worked out I'll be 39+2 OMG what was I thinking! I can finish up early if I need to but in my mind I don't want to finish up until April has started, we'll see how it goes.

We live in a rented house and I'm allowed to paint the nursery and I've decided to go with a silvery grey. We've got a long weekend off at the start of February and I think we'll paint then. Only really bought a chest of drawers out of the big things, but we've been given about 30 bits of clothing! So we don't need anything bar a few more towels. I was a tiny baby so might need to get some little things if it pops out small.

oh and I don't seem to be suffering from any of the 3 H's! I've coasted through this so far and think I've been lucky!

Love reading all your stories and bushymcbush I hope all goes well

Scoobysue · 19/01/2012 13:54

Can anyone tell me how long the feeling that your child wants to escape through your ribcage will last??? Really not enjoying it :(

notso · 19/01/2012 14:15

Hi lizmarshmallow Smile, I am due on the 24th April and am also having a surprise. Love the sound of your nursery colour.

Scoobysue poor you hopefully he/she will move into a better position soon. Mine is very low down, keep feeling a little limb pushing agains my hip bone.

Scoobysue · 20/01/2012 17:38

Thanks, Notso. He's moved down today so can both eat and breathe today, woohoo!! Due April 13th so hope he stays lower for a bit longer :)

Almost finished the nursery now, just one bit of wallpaper and border to go. He'd better like green!!

It's fascinating reading all of your posts on how you're getting on. You don't get told half of the things you can go through and possible complications. Hope everyone gets through it ok.

JambalayaCodfishPie · 21/01/2012 10:29

Good Morning Ladies! Happy weekend!

This has been a long draining week for me, never been happier to see 3pm on a Friday, and never wanted a glass of wine more!

I don't know if it's because I've had a hard week, or whether my hormones are finally kicking in, but I'm feeling very emotional at the minute - I welled up reading a magazine article, and that's not like me. Also feeling very clingy with DP. Anyone else the same?

Flisspaps · 21/01/2012 10:51

Jambalaya I found myself welling up at Nick Jr this morning Hmm but haven't reached the clingy to DH stage yet. That'll turn up again soon no doubt.

Am nesting in earnest. Who knew scrubbing tongue and groove kitchen cupboards with an old electric toothbrush could be SO satisfying?! The HomeRoutine app has changed my life, I can nest to a schedule although I am getting twitchy if DD drops so much as a crumb on the floor Blush

Ooh and if you think the things you learn on the AN thread are fascinating (and far more useful than any boom can tell you), wait until we're all on The Other Side. Honestly, the things you learn once this becomes a postnatal group are AMAZING (and it's all the stuff no-one told you was normal or possible) and generally involves open and unashamed discussion on any subject involving pretty much every available bodily fluid - TMI becomes a thing of the past and that's a good thing!

Flisspaps · 21/01/2012 10:54

That last bit was to ScoobySue, and I meant book, not boom!

You may notice I almost always post in pairs. No idea why but I always press post and then think 'Oh bugger! Forgot to say X'. Nearly every bloody time.

digitalgirl · 21/01/2012 21:29

jambalaya have also really felt tired this week. My working week ends on a Thursday - but I usually like to plan something active with DS on a Friday afternoon. Yesterday we must've watch CBeebies for about three hours before I could muster up the energy to cook and do some chores.

Am wondering if it's a low iron thing. Have MW appt on Weds so will mention it then and see what results the blood tests get.

We're 2 weeks into the porch build. All going well. Another few more weeks then I can start nesting in earnest by getting all the babygros out of the loft. Have written a list of 'consumables' I need to buy/order for the hospital bag - writing the list itself felt quite organised.

I'm 28 weeks on Monday and despite being tired I'm really enjoying this stage of pregnancy. I look properly pregnant, but can still just about cope with the commute to work and waddle around the shops. Anyone else slightly terrified of hitting 30 plus weeks? I keep thinking DS was born at 36+5 so being 30 weeks really isn't that far off from actually having a baby. Am also bit scared about how hard breastfeeding is going to be, really hoping that I remember everything I learnt first time round.

spannermary · 22/01/2012 15:59

Hey, digitalgirl - another vote for knackeredness here! I got up today, had a shower, and then fell asleep on the sofa for 2 hours. Excellent.

It could have something to do with our friend and her 2 year old visiting: they left just before lunch and DH and I all but passed out with fatigue. Are your own as exhausting? (If so we could be in big trouble!! Massive shock to the system!)

Hope everyone's doing ok. I'm actually really excited about getting to 30+ weeks (I'm 29 today) as that seems 'properly pregnant'. Naive first timer, much? My bump is already pretty big, though...and apparently I look like a penguin from the back! Waddle.waddle.waddle.

newmummyvicky · 22/01/2012 20:50

hi im 30wks now, stange saying only 10 wks to go!
I hit 31 on tuesday, and have midwife tommorrow.

Feeling really emotional today, me and hubby were putting up the curtains in the nursery and he told me i didnt leave enought space between the hooks and i started to cry!!!!! silly really but felt good having a little cry.
Room is looking good, gone for pale green pokadot curtains. Still looking for wall stickers and maybe a shelf for the toys. Also was bored today so started washing babys clothes, and did some bag packing.

Cant wait to finish work, sleeping isnt great, rib kicking or movement in early hours is really keeping me up! Then having to work a 9 hour day on feet on the whole time is leaving me sore legs, and cramp again last night. When out for a meal on saturday night with friends and could bear wearing heals so wore my comfy flats- Thank god for them lol

speak soon x

notso · 23/01/2012 11:00

Hi all. Just popping in to say hello. Braxton hicks have really intensified this week, had loads last night and backache too. I have been really busy so maybe it's a hint to take it easy.
27 weeks on Tuesday, still no name, no nursery, and no pram.

LateToTheAprilParty · 23/01/2012 12:12

Hey everyone,
29 weeks on thursday and really enjoying reading posts from people a couple of weeks ahead, it's a great insight into the pleasures that lie ahead!
Massive weepiness here, poor DH doesn"t know what's hit him, and i can't really explain!
Also started to panic a bit that i may have planned too many things for final two months. I've started waddling (and sleeping!) with a vengeance and we've got so much planned i just hope i can manage it all! Going away for a week to visit varios friends and family and I'll be 32/33 weeks. Only good thing is that presumeably by then i'll look so pregnant that people won't expect too much of me! Also not starting mat leave till 11 days before due date and i wonder if that's pushing it a bit! I guess i can start driving to work and paying for parking if i get really stuck, but it's still going to be a strugggle. Think i rather understimated how tiring it would be. Anyone else?
No braxton hicks for me, unless i'm missing them. What does it feel like?

Thaleia · 23/01/2012 12:27

notso - don't worry, I'm with you ... 26 +5 and we've sorted almost nothing. Went to Westfield on Sunday to have a look and to see what we should get on Ebay, so I guess that counts as a start? As for the nursery, we live in a one-bed and Jr. will stay with us till we all outgrow the place (ideally, April 2013?). We have still time, I'm not worried ....

Just had my GTT test done and had to drink a bottle of Lucozade at 8am. It was the most disgusting thing I did in quite some time. Especially just after brushing my teeth.

Are you all taking supplements, incl. Omega 3 pills? I feel bad because I can't take any. Every time I try (even now), I throw up ... the only times during pregnancy so I gave up and try to eat healthy.

Also, I need to rant a bit. I'm happy to be pregnant and all is well but one of my - not so close - friends really annoys me with her pregnancy as it's only in capital letters. Every time she speaks about it, you can hear it because being pregnant is so WONDERFUL and who she can not WAIT to meet him and everything is so EXCITING. Makes me wonder if I milk mine enough though Hmm. Oh well, best of luck to her (and us & me).

notso · 23/01/2012 12:52

LateToTheAprilParty This is a description of my Braxton Hicks; Imagine there is a wide scarf wrapped around your bump and it is being pulled tighter and tighter, you can feel the tightening pulling the whole bump inwards, it starts to take your breath away and you can feel the blood pulsing. Just when you start to think if it gets any tighter you won't be able to breathe, it eases off. I have boughts of them for around 20mins to an hour.

I would like to point out if anyone is now petrified that this is my fourth pregnancy, they were nowhere near as intense or regular in the first or second and many women don't feel them at all.

Thaleia glad it's not just me. We mean well but at the weekends the other DC's activities and DH and mine meagre social lives keep getting in the way!
I have done much internet browsing though. I have GTT a week tomorrow, not looking forward to it, I was sick last time and they have the worlds most uncomfortable chairs to sit on. There is a tempting looking armchair but you get told off if you sit on it, it is for the elderly, yes the elderly at a baby clinic.

Flisspaps · 23/01/2012 12:58

Thaleia I take a multi-vitamin when I remember (maybe 3 times a week) but that's it. I don't take it religiously and I went for the cheapest pregnancy supplement I could find. Don't worry about Capital Mum - you won't be the only one feeling Hmm about her overenthusiasm Grin

notso I have only noticed a couple of BH this time, and had no noticeable ones at all with DD. I've found those that I have had oddly reassuring, as though my body has at least bothered to remember how to contract after having induction last time round Hmm

notso · 23/01/2012 13:11

I don't know how true it is Flisspaps but when I was having monitoring with DS2 my BH were showing up strong on the monitor, the MW asked if I was feeling them which I was, she said all the BH go towards shortening the actual labour. I did indeed have loads with DS2 and by far my shortest labour. So as uncomfortable as they are I am also hoping for more.

JambalayaCodfishPie · 23/01/2012 14:18

Hi Ladies.

Am sat on my sofa having been sent home from work because I couldnt keep anything down. Been feeling off colour all weekend tbh. Theres a rotten virus going around at work so I'm really hoping its not that and I'm just a little run down. :(

Am really struggling with heartburn now too, dont remember having it at all with DD but its definately my killer symptom ((so far)) this time! Part and parcel of having a small, under rib tucked bump!

Quite a few people are having GTTs, are they more common than I thought then?

Been doing a lot of ebaying this weekend - watching mostly - looking to see what price things go for etc...

....No rush, although been thinking I should probrably make a start on putting together a hospital bag, just in case. Anyone else packed already?

Flisspaps · 23/01/2012 15:29

notso I did wonder if they would have some effect on labour, it would be interesting to see if any studies had been done.

Jambalaya Yes Blush, not even 30 weeks yet, it could sit there getting hateful stares for another 12 weeks or more!

digitalgirl · 23/01/2012 21:29

jambalaya haven't packed the bag yet, although have made a list for it! Sorry to hear you're not feeling well.

notso that's interesting that your BH's have got moer intense with each pregnancy. I was having a period a few weeks ago of really very intense BH's with cramping that felt very much like those first few mild contractions. Freaked me out a bit but was hoping it was to do with the fact that my body's been through it before. The crampy BH's seemed to have eased off now, but still get the tightenings every hour or so.

thaleia after taking so many drugs in the first half of this pregnancy I've completely stopped everything including the supplements! Still carry them round with me in my bag in case I suddenly decide to start taking them again.

Right - promised myself a 10pm bedtime tonight. So better get on with it.

justhayley · 23/01/2012 21:34

Hiya nursery wise so far I have the cot Grin Hayworth mamas and papas in the sale, changing mat, chest of draws arriving Friday, bouncy chair and play mat, and a teddy and a photo frame lol

Clothes wise, few pairs of scratch mits & socks, 2 hats, pack of vests and pack of bibs and a few non essential things I just havnt been able to resist.
Also been collecting bath stuff - havnt got the actual bath just the bubbles lol

Im not sure on the pram yet but think I'm going to get it off eBay Smile I want a mamas and papas one in city scape (denim look) but not sure In what style.

All being well I'm opting for a water birth in a birthing unit - with hospital next door just encase, and lots of gas and air.

Think that's it - of heartburn - occasionally, hairy tum - slightly maybe but nothing major - and was the third h? I can't remember lol

digitalgirl · 24/01/2012 14:22

Aaaargh I have stretchmarks on my belly Sad! Managed to get away without any on my belly last time. Although did discover some on my inner thigh Confused 12 months later. Have bought some coco butter tummy butter, but not sure if it's a big pile of crap or not. Smells lovely though.

jambalaya that IS impressive!

Those with more than one DC already - would you bathe the newborn in the same bath as your DC? Was hoping to bath them together, that way DS gets to have a play while I dry off and dress the little one. Then sort DS out while little one is all cosy in the bouncer.

JambalayaCodfishPie · 24/01/2012 14:47

Why thank you digitalgirl - I'm very proud. Grin
