Hi No Brookers! I do hope this has worked and is in the right place...

I've added a few extra sofas so we have plenty of space for all the Rat Smackers who will be joining us soon. There's also a nice long table filled with mince pies, yule logs, gingerbread snowmen and xmas puds! Plus some non-alcoholic mulled wine. I've strategically positioned a few clean glittery vom buckets under the table, just in case it's still a bit too early for xmas munchies for some people!

As you were...

Bartlet - thank you so much for coming back to tell us about your beautiful daughter. I have been thinking about you lots and hope to see you back here one day. Do feel free to pop in though and let us know how you're doing whenever you want.

Generic - you and your family are also in my thoughts. I hope you are being taken care of in RL xx

JenFestive · 22/12/2011 13:14

Yet another thanks to Bartlet for coming back and letting us know about your daughter. We got our BFP on the same day, it seems so long ago now.

TheLittleFairyOnTopOfTheTree · 22/12/2011 13:16

bartlett thank you for thinking to update us about your daughter. You sound so strong and peaceful, I wish you and your family much love and luck for the coming year x

Glad to hear your movements are feeling back to normal dream

I've been at the doctors with my dd this morning as she had been telling me her ear hurts and we've been up every hour the past couple of nights with her. It's not an infection though, just the result of a nasty virus, so fingers crossed it's gone soon.

I hope everyone else is well

musicalmrs · 22/12/2011 14:23

Bartlet, pleased to hear from you, and to hear about your beautiful daughter. I'm glad your delivery was as straight forward as it could be, and I hope you and your family are doing as well as possible.

Generic, if you're lurking, I hope you and your family are doing ok as well.

Scream, impressed by the huge increase in cup size! Haven't had mine measured yet, but I know they've grown quite a bit - I'm wearing the bigger bras I haven't worn in a while on their biggest setting, and several of my friends have commented on them! Maybe a task for the new year...

Fingers crossed your DD's virus passes soon Little.

Finally finished for the holidays - or at home and working through my massive to do list, at least. Did enough running around at school today to last me exercise-wise until January...

JenFestive · 22/12/2011 14:31

Just as I haven't got a bump yet my bra size hasn't changed. Still a D...

dreamfeeder · 22/12/2011 16:42

hello bartlet, I'm touched to hear about your daughter. You've been in all of our thoughts (certainly in mine). I hope you can have a peacfeul Christmas with your family, and hope you will be back on a thread like this just as soon as you want to be! x And thank you for the lovely message about your friend who's had healthy twins. I will hope to be so fortunate, even if I do choose a CS, and to EBF them.

jen, my bra size hasn't changed- I went up one size (to a C!) last time, up to a D after the birth when BF, and back to a C when I stopped at 16 weeks pg this time. I'm still a C. I don't expect to be more than a D this time.

hawthers happy due date. I'm going for you going into labour tonight, on your due date

I hope your DD is better for Christmas little, poor little girl with her sore ears.

Hello jaggy, I don't believe you can be growing that big-apart from your bump- with a job and a toddler keeping you busy. I'm sure you're just blooming wonderfully

scarlet, here's hoping you had a day of recovery, with no nosebleeds or other problems and everything is almost sorted for Christmas (you too biscuits)

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 22/12/2011 16:59

Dream I just read this and thought of you some graphic pics which might be a bit much for some but I thought they were amazing!
I don't want to even want to think about boob growth... I will just say I am scared!

I think some serious brooking needs to be done, I am still ill and so many of us have poorly children or are poorly ourselves. So that needs to go by Christmas!

SantaAndHisChristmasImps · 22/12/2011 19:27

Oh my god. That foot/fanjo photo will stay with me forever Purple.

I am not ready for children.

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 22/12/2011 19:35

Sorry Imps I loved the story though! It is very rare to have a lone foot hanging out of your fanjo though.... Unless you are into that sort of thing Xmas Wink

dreamfeeder · 22/12/2011 19:55

That is a lovely story purple. Horses for courses though, while strong faith is a wonderful thing I wouldn't trust it alone to deliver my babies safely. I don't mean that to offend anyone, I just trust in the medical staff that if I'm not even allowed to consider giving birth at the MLU let alone at home in the nhs there must be good reasons why. My poor colleague who lost a twin at birth was labouring naturally and spontaneously... I've never seen a picture like that before!!! Plus, she needs to call Harrison by his full name, Travis and Harris almost rhyme!!! And someone bought me the 'go the f**k to sleep' book, a fellow sleep deprived mummy!

Also still ill myself purple, joined dd with the coughing and feeling so tired.not helped by sleeping badly at night. I'm getting on the Brooking wagon now for health all round for christmas!!!!!!!

TheLittleFairyOnTopOfTheTree · 22/12/2011 20:45

That is an amazing story purple. Good for her, but I can't help but think that their must have been a great deal of luck involved, rather than just staying calm and having a faith!

Dream have you seen the 'pregnant with quadruplets' thread in the pregnancy forum?

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 22/12/2011 20:45

I can't say it would be my choice to have the birth she did, in that situation. I was more thinking it is a nice story as two good sized babies and not premature :) And I think we both know the names wouldn't be to either of our tastes. Xmas Wink

We need some sort of heath chant! I am at the stage now where I feel really big, cumbersome and uncomfortable, I am hoping this is due to illness otherwise it is going to be a looong 11-13 weeks! I hope we all make a recovery from this ill health.
Where is Hawthers? She hasn't posted in a whole day, could she be in labour?

DeckTheHawthersWithBells · 22/12/2011 21:23

No still here but had DS all day so knackered. Few possible tightenings and possible pains but more wishful thinking than actual progress. Off to hosp for pre cs appt tom followed by reflecology and a sweep later on. In between times i'll be scoffing pineapple and drinking rlt. I'm throwing everything at this one....

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 22/12/2011 21:33

I heard walking upstairs sideways is supposed to help? Good luck for tomorrow, Reflexology and and acupuncture are supposed to be good and a massage with a certain oil?

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 22/12/2011 21:45

Sorry Fairy missed your post! I have read the Quads blog, scary! Oh and yes a lot of luck for that birth! I generally ignore all the religousy bits as a lot of American birth stories seem to praise the lord tbh and I read quite a lot of birth stories :)

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 22/12/2011 21:46

Also I know I am being a bit thick but I just don't know who you all are with your festive name changes unless it is really obvious... Xmas Confused Xmas Blush

dreamfeeder · 22/12/2011 22:09

oooh, I was thinking of changing my name to DreamingOfAWhiteChristmas... no then purple?! True, a nice story of not-prem twins. One of the twin-threaders had her twins yesterdy vy ELCS at 36 weeks, ID girls, in SCBU and both had a little help breathing but doing fabulously! So that's positive. Another had hers EMCS recently, both well over 6lb at 37 ish weeks, no special care needed- I'm thinking of the positive ones.

fairy is thelittlefriend - still can't imagine you not little but indeed quite tall!!! Hoping your DD is asleep and feeling ok. And glad you think the American lady had luck too. I think if I had a tear like mine at home, it'd have been a horrible ending- blue light ambulance in with people trying to stop the haemorraging... I do have an anaesthetist friend who had a home birth for her first, but she trusted to her (consultant anasethetist) husband who had a full kit on hand in case the baby needed intubating and bagging to help it breathe plus the whole range of drugs for mother and baby, 'just in case'. The only thing he was worried about was her bleeding too heavily. She was fine- paracetaamol and no stitches job!!!! She says herself she has 'child-bearing hips' and was lucky rather than anything though. I did see that quadruplets blog- have been reading it for a couple of weeks. Found it from seeing a link to it from the twin pictures on the babycentre website. She sounds amazing! and all boys too- imagine having 5 sons!!! She makes me feel a bit embarrassed at how worrying, tiring and hard I'm finding twin pregnancy Blush, she's clearly amazing. Plus, in her area the mw sees her and will have a listen in to 4 hb's where here they dont see me and won't attempt even 2!!! Even the consultant I saw on Sunday went straight to scan and said no point bothering with the doppler! Envy

Shame you're not in labour yet hawthers, but I still predict tonight....

Had a tired, hungry weeping session on dh before. He was horrified (not the touchy feely type) and rather than be particularly supportive announced even more vigorously thaan usual this is my last pg!!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 23/12/2011 01:02

I can't sleep! Thanks for pointing out little! It took.me a long while to figure out imps too. :s

One of the trainee peer supporters is a twin mum and I think she fed until they were 2, they were term too. :)

That was a bit mean of your Dh, I hope you feel a bit better after a cry. You are coping so well with so much, it is a real credit to you.

I am using Mumsnet mobile, loads better from when I last used it, see what you mean about not seeing posts being difficult!

Really need to sleep such a busy day tomorrow!

NinjaChipmunk · 23/12/2011 08:32

Morning all! Lovely to hear from you Bartlet and hear your story, wishing you all the very best xx
Also thinking of generic and her family too xx
That twin birth blog was impressive, esp the photos. I do wonder how much information people leave out though, she sounded as though it didn't even hurt!
Hawthers I'm looking forward to hearing all about your imminent birth.
Little I have to ask, is your non festive name from the donna tartt book? She is one of my favourite authors and I wish she would write more.
Not much to report here, some festive food food shopping to be done and hopefully catching up with friends later. There is definitely a bump, albeit a wobbly one. and no more work for 2 whole weeks! Wooooooo!!

pommedenoel · 23/12/2011 08:51

Bartlet thank you so much for telling us about your daughter. So much love to you and your family.

Am I odd that the first thing I thought about the foot/fanjo picture is - 'Oh my god she de-haired! Does everyone else de-hair? Should I this time?'

dream - my dh can also be a bit insensitive but he totally gets it in the ear when he's particularly bad. Hope you gave yours a bit of a talking to!

30 weeks on Sunday here - I have properly got my waddle on already which seems very early!

NinjaChipmunk · 23/12/2011 10:27

Pomme I have a little electric fanjo strimmer and i'm glad I used it last time as i had to have stitches. I found it easier to deal with the aftermath.
Dream sorry your dh is not very sympathetic, I hope having a cry made you feel better. I find it. Very cathartic.

dreamfeeder · 23/12/2011 10:42

pomme, I was similarly horrified by how presentable she'd made her fanjo!! Shock the pressure!

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 23/12/2011 10:53

Hello everyone! Starting to feel festive yet? I have noticed that strangers in the lift are chatting more than usual as it is the last working day before Christmas, hurray!

Wow, a quadruplet thread? Must look for that one later.

Bartlet, it is great to hear from you, and lovely to hear about your daughter. Did you give her a name? I know this will be a horribly hard time for you - sending much love and good wishes your way.

I also skipped the Lord Jesus bits in that birth story - interesting about the breech, though, as was discussing breech births with community MW this morning and she said that in this country they have lost the skill of delivering breech babies vaginally. She says some of the older consultants still have it, but that the vast majority of breeches are CS now so younger staff will hardly have seen any. She said the trick is not to touch the baby and let it dangle by the head waiting for the next contraction - sounds nerve-wracking!

MW appt was good this morning - Bean is measuring fine (27 cm at 26 weeks exactly), BP good, HB good. The only thing is that I have leucocytes (sp?) in my urine so have to provide a second sample next Wed to see if they have gone or not. I don't feel like I have an infection. She asked if I was peeing more and I said no, and naturally I am now second-guessing every urge to pee! [hypochondriac emoticon] She thought Bean's head was at the top of the bump, but couldn't find her bottom, but said it doesn't matter at this stage because she's small enough to be a different way up every few minutes.

Was back in the so-tired-I-want-to-cry doldrums yesterday - was knackered even before we did our Christmas food shop after work. Was on the verge of a meltdown in the drink aisle of Sainsbury's - DH was faffing about picking up beer and wine for himself, and I was losing patience because I can't have any! Still, am feeling more festive today. Late start due to MW appt, long lunch booked with Mum between 12 and 2, and then finishing work at 3.15 - lovely! Xmas Grin

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 23/12/2011 11:07

Please can somebody link to the quadruplet thread? I can't find it. Thanks!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 23/12/2011 11:41

Too I can't find the thread either but I bookmarked the blog Emma's quad diary
So glad your bean is doing well :)

I might give the amazonian jungle a trim, or get Dh to Xmas Blush but really no one will care! She just obviously knew she would be having photos taken and went for a wax! I can only cut the nails on one foot already so bush control is going to be the least of my worries. Xmas Wink

I might be doing food shopping today as Dh's office has decided to close at 1pm on a whim... Although very tempted to go for a snooze when he gets back after last nights shenanigans!

Gah I keep writing posts with RL names and then having to delete, honestly I could be outed so easily as it is, without doing that!

Anyone thought of any names, still at an impasse my end! Raphael is a possible now since we both kind of like it.
