Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SoTiredoftheWheelsontheBus · 30/11/2011 09:26

Morning all, am loving the Christmas names! Well, it's official - tomorrow is the day I get to meet my baby (barring any surprises today Smile). I had the pre-op appointment for the elcs yesterday at the hospital, and am all ready and raring to go! The appointment yesterday lasted a couple of hours, but most of that seemed to be all the paperwork the MWs have to complete for the operation. I did find out though that seeing as it's been known for months that I would need an elcs, my community MW should have taken swabs to test for MRSA weeks ago. This was the first I had heard of this so they took them yesterday - but with the strikes on today affecting support staff, there's not much chance they'll have the results for tomorrow. The appointment yesterday was much of the same (foetal heartbeat, movements, position, bp, urine tests, blood tests, etc.) but with an indepth discussion of what will be involved, all the people who'll be in theatre, etc. I have pre-meds to take tonight and tomorrow morning (metoclopramide and ranitidine), and will be nil-by-mouth from midnight tonight. Usually that would not seem to be a problem, but I haven't been having dinner recently because of the really bad heartburn I get if I eat after about 4 pm - so now the prospect of not eating for 16 hours before I even get to the hospital is not so appealing. I think I'll have a nice dinner tonight anyway, chances are there'll be so much going around my head that I won't get much sleep anyway!

After today I won't be posting for a bit - I don't have internet access on my phone (and am not allowed mobiles in the ward anyway), and I'll be in for a couple of days, so won't get a chance until I'm home (and from what I remember last time, usually by the time I'd got the computer loaded up, baby had woken up again). The rate at which we've been getting through threads at the moment, I fully expect this one to be full by the time I'm back on.

Congratulations to Kri5ty and good luck for everyone else!

PludolphTheRedNosedReindeer · 30/11/2011 09:37

Ohh, Bee, you see, you are one of us, and don't be despondent about that. This is the December bus, so statistically at least some of us have to get a "seat" instead of running in front of the damned thing! You don#t want the baby to come on strike day, anyway.
(Does that all make you feel a bit better?)
As for that stupid grandmother with her horror story, she deserves a good MN Hmm or even Confused if you are feeling particularly childish. Seriously, what a silly woman, not thinking of the effect of such a story on someone in your position!

As for all the unimaginative people who keep nagging, perhaps they'd like a few cries of "wolf!" to make them feel silly!

Sorry to boast now, but ingratitude is a bitch, too: I had a lovely night's sleep and am so grateful. It may be the staying up late, as msbaublestwinkle noted.

Sleighbellsinthesnow · 30/11/2011 09:39

Good luck for tmrw Sotired! 1st Dec is a lovely birth date to have.

sevenswansaswimming · 30/11/2011 09:45

Good luck for tomorrow sotired, hope it all goes well.

oi all babies are gorgeous, even ginger giants!

I've got MW coming later to weigh Eva, hopefully she's put some of her weight back on now.

PludolphTheRedNosedReindeer · 30/11/2011 09:49

Ooops, missed your post, SotiredoftheWheelsontheBus. Good luck for tomorrow and for a quick recovery. Smile

Falalalalababy · 30/11/2011 09:54

Good luck tired hope all goes great. Gosh, I am really starting to get impatient now! I really want to pop too!!!

Wonder how honey is getting on, didn't she say she was in the latent phase yesterday????

Anyway I am going to be walking up and down the stairs sideways today in the hope.....

msbaublestwinkle · 30/11/2011 10:15

Good luck sotired I hope the wards are quiet and that you find recovery easy!

Bump is all lopsided today! Miri is posterior and keeps sticking her left knee out, will spend some time crawling around to see if I can shift her back round. DDs think it is an invitation to use me as a horse though!

HoneyLovesChristmasCake · 30/11/2011 10:40

Morning all! I had a full night's sleep & feel great today :) One long post & then I have to go clean my house! Yesterday was very productive; clothes, nappies & bedding are sorted & put away & crib is assembled.

Feel a bit embarrassed complaining about my MW transferring yesterday after reading all your posts; I'd assumed continuity of care was standard & I'm Shock that some of you haven't discussed your birth plans; I thought this was standard...isn't there a section in your notes for it Confused. I had 2 hours at home to go over mine Blush

seven love your pics, thanks for posting them so quickly...may we all follow your lead...I want to see lots of cute baby photos please especially ones of ginger giants Grin

Bee I'm pretty sure cheep's DD was going to be named Hope but she was wavering over middle names while in labour.

Still no word of a name for Mousey's DD either, I've posted on the HB thread asking for an update.

Congrats to kristy hopefully we'll have more news soon :)

figgy not unreasonable at all...I might tell my best friend when I'm in labour IF I'm calm & relaxed because she's ttc & is terrified of birth so I'm hoping to be a positive influence. Other than that no one will know until LO is here & then I'm having no visitors for a week or 2!

sotired good luck tomorrow; very excited for you :) Hope things settle down quickly & you're able to post soon.

AWCH my MW said to make sure you have teabags, milk & bread (for toast), I guess they must get a bit sick of biscuits & cake after a while. Pizza sounds like a good idea though, if you're ordering it before they get there make sure it's veggie just in case.

falala latent phase if that's what it is Confused is going strong. Contractions became less frequent & longer last night but seem (cba to time them) very regular & shorter this morning. Don't think they've stopped at all since yesterday AM...my tummy & back feel a bit sore/achy but they're not too bad when I'm moving about.

OiMistletoe · 30/11/2011 10:55

The very best of luck and good wishes for tomorrow sotired!

Hohohomouse · 30/11/2011 11:04

Morning all.
Hope everyone doing well.
Honey your early labour sounds fabulous and you sound as though you are doing all the right stuff and with great, positive energy. Go, you!
I am off for a 2 hr bfeeding class this afternoon. It's 1.5 miles to get there so I'm hoping something might shift in the way there - actually, preferably on the way back! Could do with some signs of something, looking forward to seeing midwife tomorrow for an update.
Also heading to Boots this avo for some last minute stuff. It's time to tackle the lady garden via the medium of a mirror. Wish me luck, could get comical/ugly!
sotired wishing you all the very best! Can't believe you'll be enjoying cuddles so soon, even if all the medical bit is a bit of a palaver to go through.

aethelfleda · 30/11/2011 11:09

GooD luck sotired!

bee : a reassuring counterbalance story for you: having been in time with DD1 I went 7 days over with DD2; all was fine: she was larger for being dates (8lb 11!!) but it was all v straightforward, gas and air and 20 mins shoving and that was that. I had a snip cos her head was enormous and MW thought I might tear but otherwise it was like clockwork. All my friends who had vaginal second babies had a similar quicker easier time with number two, even those with long drawn out ventouse/forceps first DCs. So there is hope!

DarciesmumandBump2 · 30/11/2011 11:49

Morning ladies

Sotired Good luck for tomorrow Smile

Honey Sounds like your doing well....hoping I'm not far behind.

Kri5ty CongratulationsSmile

As for MW care I've had the same MW throughout and did the first time round too, must be one of the lucky ones.

Well I've put the Xmas tree together and put the lights on. DD & I are just stopping for something to eat and then the tree ornaments go on Grin

KateKringle · 30/11/2011 12:11

Congrats to kri5ty and good luck to SoTired and Honey

LMH I seem to have taken your 2 stone and another half a stone from someone else! I always love my carbs and havve simply added a sweet tooth into the mix whilst pregnant.

I actually managed to sleep last night, for 7.5 hours! Amazing. Not sure that it'll happen again, but we'll see. I think having finally crossed everything off my to do list probably helped.

Sadly the plumber is not coming until tomorrow now, because the part isn't in yet. Getting a bit bored of broken boiler now.

SoTiredoftheWheelsontheBus · 30/11/2011 12:30

Darciesmum - I'm glad someone else is in a Christmassy mood and that you've put up your Christmas tree - I'm doing the last of the batch cooking for the freezer (almost full), and singing along loudly and very badly to Christmas music. Don't think we'll be putting up our decorations the first weekend of December this year though.........

OiMistletoe · 30/11/2011 13:07

(Kristy just posted a photo of baby Saul Harrison on her Facebook page - he is just delicious!)
Giddy giddy!
(I've asked for weight and details.)

festivefiggy · 30/11/2011 13:07

Boo DH and I planned to go out for lunch but got a text about a delivery coming between 1.30 and 2.30 so stuck in waiting for it .....can't complain it's my christmas present but I'm hungry Sad

DarciesmumandBump2 · 30/11/2011 13:23

Sotired Its almost done - i'll post a pic when its complete.

DD is driving me up the wall, at 6.8yrs old shes going thru terrible twos - being told she hates me :( is ultrasonic screaming and stamping her feet all because shes not getting her way straight away. Shes hating me more because i'm not getting wound up and having an argument with her!

DarciesmumandBump2 · 30/11/2011 14:17

Pic of my decorated xmas tree is now on :)

msbaublestwinkle · 30/11/2011 14:37

Your tree looks ace darcies I'm going to a workshop on tree dressing on Sunday, am hoping to pick up some tips as I am hopeless! You have my empathy with the banshee child, DD1 was screaming earlier because she has lost the money she was planning to spend on sweets.

I'm feeling really lethargic today, just can't be bothered. Have done sod all apart from provide food and help with various games. I have no excuse, I just can't settle down to anything so I'm grumpy!

DarciesmumandBump2 · 30/11/2011 14:51

Msbaubles Thanks Grin I love decorating my our tree.

Trying to think of an xmassy name for me but can't come up with anything.

msbaublestwinkle · 30/11/2011 14:53

It took me a week! I'm crap at thinking up names for anything.

DarciesmumandBump2 · 30/11/2011 14:54

Hope you have fun at the workshop at the weekend - you'll have to pass the tips on Grin

PludolphTheRedNosedReindeer · 30/11/2011 14:59

What about DarciesMumandLumpofSnow/Coal?

sevenswansaswimming · 30/11/2011 15:41

Hi all, hope everyone is having a good day, can't wait to see all of your baby pics soon.

MW was really happy with Eva, she's gained 4oz so now only 1oz below her birth weight. She's now taking 70ml at each feed so will finish catching up in no time. We're also now able to let her feed on demand rather than every 3 hours.

Tinselperion · 30/11/2011 15:54

DarcieandSnowball? Because it won't be a bump/lump for much longer!!

Seven that's great news!!
