Morning all - no sleep again last night, ugh. Checked the clock and I woke up at a record-breaking 12.45am! Gave in all pretence of sleeping completely at 4am so am tired tired tired.

My plans today are to cover the outside table before the torrential rain hits later, and then collapse on the sofa with DVDs and hot chocolate (and MN natch).

Keep looking hopefully at the bump but still no signs of imminent arrival. In fact I think it's moved up not down, gah!

msbuggy, thanks so much for your sleep vibes. Worked like a charm for me! Only one pee stop in the night and a full 9hours. Feel like a new mouse this morning!
Like everyone else without signs, staring to get a little concerned! My biggest fear is induction, so today I shall be walking to a friends house for lunch, bouncing on birth ball like a mo fo, raspberry tea drinking and epi-no (urrghhhh). I also have an Ocado delivery coming and need to wrap presents and cards.
Hope everyone has a lovely day. I am hoping for an announcement from Kri5ty!

Thanks darcies.

Sorry to everyone having sleep problems and generally feeling rubbish, I'm so lucky to have Eva here, I wish I could wave a magic wand and give all of you your babies.

Morning All

I am sat in the conservatory in my dressing gown dialled into a teleconference at the moment and distracting myself with some MN action and practise of yoga breathing. I have decided to go to bed later to see if that makes my sleep a bit better i think it does make a difference actually as been able to sleep until 8.30 last few days with DH working from home means we dont have to have an alarm but then he needs to be disciplined and make sure he working by 9am. He's very easily distracted from work so i am having to make sure i dont distract him too much.

It's raining in bristol today which is good as means dont feel the need to go out so much either to work or shopping spending money however also means cant go for a walk. Plan on swimming tomorrow for some gentle exercise.

My parents arriving on 15th December and am due on the 09th if he doesnt want to come out on his own they will not induce me until around the 21st, parents are due to go home on 23rd but my mother has said if he not out earlier she staying for xmas have had to warn the MIL she might have another mouth to feed xmas day. Parents eh!!

Grrr apologies in advance for moan...

Having been on bedrest for 2 months DH took the day off today and we were going to have a lovely day together while DS was at the childminders. Was so looking forward to feeling normal again and getting out of the house but childminder called this morning to say that her son might have chickenpox so now DH has to look after DS until she can get to the doctor at lunchtime and have it confirmed, and i have to keep to our bedroom (my former prison) until we know whats going on.

Ive had chicken pox so shoukd be immune but there is a small chance im not immune and if you get chicken pox within 7 days of delivery there is a 50% chance of the baby being affected. So now im totally p**d off, stressed out and worrying about the baby being affected. Also, if the baby does arrive in the next couple of weeks, which is likely, we will have to keep her away from DS so i guess that means a long hospital stay for me?

It just seems so unfair, ive had so many complications and just as things were getting back to normal it all goes wrong again. So fed up Sad

jo glad it worked! As you're worried about induction, have you read up about expectant management? I have a friend who always goes at least a fortnight over (she is pregnant with DC4 atm) and it works well for her, she has had great births.

I seem to have inadvertently planned a really exciting weekend for us (so who bets I'll go into labour!? She is not allowed yet!), going to the Christmas market and grotto on Saturday then a day of Christmassy workshops at the Wildflower Centre on Sunday!

Oh Mmmmcheese - that's the worst luck - no wonder you're fed up! Can they do an immunity blood test at your doctor's to check?

Fusam a bad tummy is often a sign of the imminent onset of labour - perhaps you're next!

Sending positive vibes Kri5ty's way! Thanks DN doing really well - just an initial blip with blood sugars but all stabilised now.

Had my last m/w appnt this morning - I asked her was the baby about average sized and she hesitated and said, you've no excess fluid, it's certainly all baby in there - there's plenty of baby. Hurry up baby - I don't want you any bigger - I've a v small frame and tiny pelvis! Sigh.....

OiMissus · 29/11/2011 11:00

sending big hugs your way mmmcheese, what a shame. Have a good old cry followed by a cream cake. The cream cake should make things better.
I wonder if Kristy is cuddling her baby yet? I really hope so!
I had a rubbish night's sleep again, but have a busy day ahead. Shopping, sorting - the usual. The best bit will be the reflexology session at 2pm. Pleeeeeease make it work. I don't want this baby getting any bigger either. I'm going to change my birth plan to include "what happens when there's no progress because the baby is a giant." I DO NOT want to be torn and yanked apart by tools, and then have to go for a cs anyway. So this will be clearly stated!!

I might be in the very early stages of labour Confused Feel stupid even mentioning it Blush as it's probably nothing.

Woke at 4:30, went for a pee & couldn't get back to sleep so finally gave in & came downstairs to do a hypnobirthing relaxation at 6:30 which put me to sleep. Woke with super-strong period-type cramps & BH(??) which carried on for what felt like ages; probably about 30mins-1hr? Shouted up to DP who came down brought me paracetamol & ran me a bath about 9. Pain has disappeared completely but BH/contractions are very regular....about every 10 mins lasting 1min-1min30.

No show, no other signs...well, a loose BM but I'm on iron so that's not unusual. Is this it? Kind of hope not, or at least that it takes a few days to really kick in...I have to do all my washing yet & I have an Orthodontist appt on Friday. I was supposed to go over, I'm not ready!!! This could just be nothing, right?

Mmm, ring your GP and say you and your son have had some exposure to chickenpox and you would like to be checked for varicella immunity. they should be able to arrange that easily (or give you a form for the hospital to have blood test done there). It takes a few days to come back but will reassure you hopefully.

bluebells, hope your DN is all OK now, how worrying for you all but glad she's improved. ((hug))

I'm at home today (last work day tomorrow!) and have spent the morning doing something lovely that I'd encourage any of you to consider doing - a "baby album". I'm not talking about labour music - for each of my DDs (and now for Widget) I've made a playlist of current(ish) music that I've listened to during the pregnancy and this year, most from the radio and a few favourite older songs that I really like. When I play it it reminds me of being pg, and when any of the songs from "their" album come on it makes me smile. So DD1's album has lots of 2005 rock on it, DD2 is 2007 and DS's is current stuff. Each album starts with some funky exciting motivating music, and then becomes more mellow at the end (originally I planned this as car playlist music to sent them to sleep!)

Sorry mmm, that's rotten luck after all you've been through already! Hope it works out ok
aethel love your playlist idea. I'm going to take a look this afternoon.
Honey could be a false start but sounds quite like early labour like to me (sorry!!) let us know how/if you progress. Could still be days/weeks away, right? Whatever will happen will happen. As regards the actual birth plan you are one of the most prepared on here! I don't think anyone will ever be really truly ready...

darcies when I got married, I paid the florist to do the 8 table decs, an archway, bouquets, 2 big floral stand things, etc etc... I didn't pay for the top table to be decorated (it was long and thin and the massive martini glasses would've looked odd), but she trailed greenery and a few orchids along the table anyway - making it look gorgeous for free. (Just an idea, depending on your table/theme/everything else!)
I loved planning my wedding, I hope you are really enjoying the lead up to it all! How exciting!!!

Ladies - RE delayed cord clamping - is this where the baby still receives all the blood from the cord until it stops pulsating?!

Report
DarciesmumandBump2 · 29/11/2011 12:01

Oi out of curiosity how much did you pay the florist?

Planning a wedding is hard but exciting.

Report
msbuggywinkle · 29/11/2011 12:11

darcies yes, that is delayed clamping! Usually takes 5-10 mins for the cord to stop pulsating. My MIl is a florist so she did all the flowers for our wedding, we had red roses and lots of green stuff!

honey it does sound early labour-ish to me too!

DarciesmumandBump2 · 29/11/2011 12:17

Msbuggy Thanks :) that is now on my birth plan.

We're having deep red roses, and calia lillies, with green stuff & gypsophilia (sp?)

? No internals unless asked for
? To be as mobile as possible
? Possibility to get into the birthing pool
? To REFUSE an epidural even if asked for ? give Gas & Air only
? To give birth laying on my left side
? Skin to skin contact straight away
? Neil to be the one to tell me what sex the baby is
? Neil to cut the cord if he feels up for it
? To only cut the cord when its stopped pulsating ? so baby gets all the necessary blood
? Baby to be put to the breast as soon as possible
? Vitamin K to be given via injection
? Injection to be given to enable placenta to be delivered
? Mainly just go with the flow and see what happens and how I feel
? If all okay to be discharged home within a few hours once Breastfeeding established

The above is my birth plan, so have I missed anything important?

darcies do you want to put anything in about in case you end up with a c-section? I've put in that in case of c-sec I want help with skin to skin while I'm being stitched and that in case of me not being able to hold her DP is to do skin to skin and stay with her rather than me.
