kri5tycringle · 09/12/2011 02:50

Tinselperion yay!! Even if it is just from that its the start of something :o

Fingers crossed it gets started for you!! X x

kri5tycringle · 09/12/2011 02:51

oi as glam as it is, try a long dress , no undercrackers and a sheet??

Ooo I'm so excited I hope this is it! X

KateKringle · 09/12/2011 04:09

Oi You've probably gone now, but good luck! Hope this is it for you. I ended up doing pretty much what kri5ty suggested lasst time around - dress, no knickers and an old beach towel shoved between my legs. Oh, the glamour!

Tinsel Sorry to hear the scan news, but it sounds like you're dealing with it very well. In some ways it may be better that you have this awareness now rather than finding out as a surprise during labour? Just don't let your parents know that Wink

Bee DD struggled to feed in the first week or so, and I had to wake her every 3 hours too. The tip they gave me at the time was to change her nappy as soon as I'd woken her, and then she'd be more awake when it then came to try and feed (sorry if you've tried this and it hasn't worked). I'm no expert (will bow to MsB's greater knowledge) but as far as I'm aware there is no set time as to how long baby should be feeding for in order to get enough milk - I think it depends on the combination of your flow and baby's suck. Obviously I can't say for certain that your DD is getting enough in the 10 mins, but I do think your MW is talking out of her arse saying she should be feeding for half an hour.

Plu Nothing happening to speak of here still, but I'm unable to sleep again tonight after having had a few good nights. My mind is whirring. Not sure why, but I suddenly feel a lot more positive that things will start naturally. Maybe baby is aiming for EDD and the full moon tomorrow? Maybe that's too much to hope for!

msbaublestwinkle · 09/12/2011 04:28

Oooo...I think things may be kicking off here too! Been having pretty regular but not very strong contractions for a couple of hours now, and running to the toilet too!

KateKringle · 09/12/2011 04:32

Exciting times! Good luck MsB

OiMistletoe · 09/12/2011 05:44

Hi, in triage. Waters still pouring, no contractions yet. Baby seems happy. They had to put a catheter in to get a urine sample - coz of flowing waters. I think they will induce me within 24 hrs if I don't go into labour naturally... Hope it starts naturally! Bp was high at first, but is coming down. It's been low throughout - til now. I'll try and keep you updated.
Good luck mrsb!!!

msbaublestwinkle · 09/12/2011 06:05

Morning oi! go for a walk, do they have a ball you can bounce on?

I'm contracting about every 10mins or so (not timing them so I don't get over excited as I'm expecting them to stop when DP and the DDs wake up!) they are perfectly pleasant so far, but given that this is a 3rd baby I refuse to get excited yet.

I think I'll send DP in to work even if they do carry on, at very least he can get his handover done so we don't get plagued by phone calls!

OiMistletoe · 09/12/2011 06:36

They are recording bp at intervals - then they may let me go home, where I'll start bouncing. Waters still pouring out of me! Can't think where it's all coming from.

BeeMyBaby · 09/12/2011 07:04

two more babies today? Ooo!

DeckTheHawthersWithBells · 09/12/2011 07:15

Yippetty skip! Good luck oi and msb

nickelbabe · 09/12/2011 07:17

Bee - it sounds like she's starting to get the hang of it.
If her weight loss has improved, that's good.

Maybe she is getting all she needs in thsoe 10 minutes. Just keep putting her to your breast and i'm sure when she needs it, she'll take it.
Even if you're topping-up, as long as you're doing it with your expressed milk, then there's no reason why you should feel the need to resort to formula.
Have you tried a nipple shield? it might be the shape/feel of it makes a difference to her latch.
have you seen a proper breast-feeding counsellor?
please do if you haven't, because she'll be able to help you with timing as well. :)
you're doing really well. :)

Oi - oooooh! good luck!
tyel - fingers crossed for you too :)

nickelbabe · 09/12/2011 07:19

ooh, msb too!

(i hope i get to join today's rush - before 1:30 when I have to do for my next monitoring!)

bennybenbear · 09/12/2011 07:23

Good luck oi!!! I still really hope I see you on that post natal ward esp as I'm going in for more monitoring today! x

OiMistletoe · 09/12/2011 07:46

They've sent me home, waters flowing. Must get these contractions started ...after rice krispies. Xmas Grin

DarcieandSnowballsmum · 09/12/2011 07:53

Morning Ladies

Oi & MsB Good luck, so we might have 2 more babies today Smile

Felt quite sick in the night, not to bad at moment tho! No contractions either.....humph

msbaublestwinkle · 09/12/2011 07:57

Hmmmm...contractions seem to have slowed down since DP left for work. This is typical, less than an hour after I put my Mum and doula on standby.

Hohohomouse · 09/12/2011 08:22

oi, tinsel, msb - go, go, go!
Wishing you are speedy, happy and safe deliveries!
kri5ty good to see you back on the thread. Everything going ok?
I have just set up an induction thread on childbirth. Just seeing what people say so that I am forewarned should it come to that.
Come on full moon, do your stuff!

aethelfleda · 09/12/2011 08:23

Good luck oi, msB and tinsel! Hoping things really get going foryou all today!

bee, I was always told that a full feed could be anything between 5 and 40 mins depending on the baby. My DD1 was a leisurely madam and took 20 -30 mins every time. dD2 was a turbo feeder and 8-10 mins was standard (although she used to "cluster feed" so would want more milk every 30-60 mins during 8-10 am and about 5-8pm each day, otherwise every 2-4 hours. This is also normal!)
As baby gets older your flow becomes more efficient so the feeds tend to get shorted but its total bobbins that every baby feeds for 30 mins. The important thing is keep offering boob frequently so that if baby wants more it is there, and they get more used to it. I've always beentold it takes 4-6 weeks to really establish a BF pattern so it's early days and if you want to keep going and baby is gaining weight (even slowly), plus weeing and pooing, then it should be OK. Do get some bf counsellor advice with it, much better than random dudes like me on the internet! :)

AReindeerCalledHorse · 09/12/2011 08:28

Congrats to lottie & honey!! Hope you get contractions started asap Oi.

Haven't felt LO move so far this morning (only been up half an hour, so could just be worrying over nothing), have MW apt at 10 so if it's not up & wriggling by then I'll go into hospt.
Sorry my last post was short and negative; will go catch up with the rest of the thread..cannot believe how quickly we've gone from a few babies to them flying out all over the place Xmas Grin

AReindeerCalledHorse · 09/12/2011 08:38

Congrats Cheese!

Tinsel, sorry to hear about your scan results (Oy! at 11lbs!), fingers (and everything else) crossed that things have started kicking off at your end & you'll get your homebirth!

msB, hope contractions start up again soon.
darcies, hope you feel better soon!

festivefiggy · 09/12/2011 08:47

Morning al thanks for responding on my mini rant yesterday I haven't killed him have actually left him in bed as kept him awake most of the night with my cold and crazy dreams - I had 1 where the scary black bird fella in the black swan came into our room clucking like a chicken I should have known it was a dream within a dream as was sat on the phone to work at 3am but still made me cry out silly bint. I have threatened DH with having sex should he continue to be crap the idea of it terrifies him now im 3stone up so he that should get him busy!!

Good luck everyone with activity today can't be many of us waiting now.

Today I am supposed to be having a baby but that message doesn't seem to have reached my uterus unfortunately as absolutely bugger all signs of activity. I will have to find a way to commiserate later perhaps more medicinally required ice cream for my poorly throat Smile or the mini bottle of wine I bought in yesterday.

mopsytop · 09/12/2011 09:04

Good luck today everyone! More babies...exciting! hoho will check your induction thread now given the fact they want to induce me, possibly Monday. Eek. Willing baby to come on her own before then. Also not sure if is the medication to lower my bp but since starting it yesterday have felt awful...splitting headache, have vomited twice, still feel v sick and have the runs (sorry if tmi). So really not v happy right now :(

mopsytop · 09/12/2011 09:11

Oh dear, have to say hohoho, the induction thread is not reassuring me. Altho if it is the bp medication making me feel this dreadful I'd rather have the baby sooner than later as don't think cd cope with feeling like this for another 2 weeks. Sorry for this poor me post.
