Was also going to suggest the Quinny Zapp- it's tiny! A friend who drives a Micra has a Bugaboo Frog; the wheels easily unclip from the frame to put it into a smaller boot... Both of those are compatable with Maxi-Cosi carseat. We had an iCandy Cherry for ds which I looooved; but the frame doesn't fold quite as small as those other 2 mentioned.
Hope all goes ok with the cyst investigations ballroom, these things are such a worry but usually turn out to be fine.

My bump is going mad with kicks and shoves, love watching it. And so far no sciatica so just counting my blessings!

cupcakefairy · 14/01/2012 21:22

Just realised I meant bugaboo gecko, but think all of theirs are v compact.

Newtothisstuff · 14/01/2012 22:11

I had a bugaboo with my dd.. Hated it.. Worst £800 I'd ever spent.. Took it to my dads once when he was looking after her.. They ended up buying a cheap buggy from Argos because they couldn't get it up.. Did make me giggle tho.. Gone for a quinny this time.. Although we did have to utube how to get it down once it was up haha need a degree in prams these days Grin

tostaky · 15/01/2012 19:27

I have a mac laren xt. Ok it doesn't look as nice as the other puschair but really it is the best puschair ever! Light, easy to manoeuvre with one hand, easy to fold with one hand and put in the boot, almost flat so ok for babies, good storage/pockets, robust... Can you tell I love this puschair??!!!

I was given a travel system for DS1 but really it was too heavy to push especially after my c section. I also had a phil & ted and I wasn't impressed... The mac laren is definitely the best puschair I have tried/ have had.

mythical · 15/01/2012 20:49

mine just arrived today and in all fairness i am absolutely chuffed with it - i paid £250 for it second hand - mint condition - which sounds like a lot but they tend to sell for twice that used!(aand.. i'm planning more babies :P) it is an absolute dream to push around, feels like it's on ice, it just glides. It's dead easy to maneuver and it just clicks in and out, even my husband loves it and he is the least interested in prams person.... chassis folds down very small and has a strap i can carry it around on..
and it's pretty Blush

it's this one in tomato (red/orange)

SESthebrave · 15/01/2012 21:39

Hello.....!
Sorry it's been weeks since I posted. Lots been going on but all ok.

Not sure whether I stand much chance of fully catching up on the thread but I can see the recent buggy talk. With DS we got a Britax Vigour which I loved (easy to use, not too heavy) and then when he turned about 22mo, we got a McLaren Quest which has been a great investment. The only problem I have is that DH forced the boot of the car down on the britax and broke the seat. I want to see if I can either get it fixed or buy just a new seat.

Ballroom - hope all goes well with your appointment.

LittleSarah - great about your doula course!!

Milko - I did pilates during my pg with DS and found it great for reducing aches and pains and relaxing. I'm sure I would have found it useful in the birth as well if I hadn't had to have a CS!

Life here has been busy - mainly with work although that's been going well.
Otherwise, there's been a couple of minor complications with the pregnancy but nothing major in itself. Firstly, I'd already said I may need another CS as it's likely this LO will position itself oblique breech like DS. Secondly my thryoid levels are up and down so having to see consultant every 5 weeks. Finally, at my 20 week scan, the sonographer noticed a synachaie. I'd never heard of this and she said she'd not seen one for about 3 years! Basically it's a band of extra uterine tissue going from one side of the womb to the other. It's normally caused by scar tissue resulting from previous CS or ERPC (well I've had 1 CS and 2ERPC...) She said it doesn't normally cause problems but occassionally can get trapped around a limb or limit growth so I have to go back for another scan at 28 weeks!

cupcakefairy · 16/01/2012 15:06

SES I know another lovely lady on mn who had a band discoverd halfway through her preg but she is just a couple of weeks away from giving birth now and it hasn't been a problem at all..hope the same happens for you. Doesn't seem like the mw was too worried?

mythical gorgeous pushchair - I'm v fond of iCandys I'm sure you'll get along great with it :)

tostaky we have a maclaren quest for ds since we sold the iCandy...I love it too just so compact and practical. Hoping I'll still use it a bit with baby in sling, and then with ds on a buggy board, when we don't want to take the double out.

Basse · 17/01/2012 19:48

Hi all. I was so pleased to see the thread about small buggies - I have a polo and have been offered two prams from friends already which is great but have realised the small size of my boot might require some careful measuring! so plenty of ideas above from everyone, how fab! Apart from that I am starting to get absolutely ravenous-which is a real pain bcause it seems I do nothing but eat all the time. If I see another crumpet or banana I will turn into one! Is anyone else finding this, I am sure it's quite normal in 2nd trimester....? I am also finding I am being kicked quite regularly early in the mornings and in eve when watching telly, which is lovely! :)

Mikocat · 18/01/2012 12:21

Hello all, just checking in!

Well I didn't think much of the yoga last week! There were 14 people in the class, so I didn't feel like we got enough individual attention - also my SPD ached like a bastard for DAYS afterwards. Maybe coincidence, maybe not.

I have found a new class starting tonight which is limited to 8 places and is only a 2-minute walk 5-minute waddle from my flat! I hope it's good as I have to pay 4 weeks upfront.

Tomorrow I have made an appt with an osteopath about my SPD, I'm getting so fed up with it and would really like to avoid being on crutches by the birth! I finally got an appt through for NHS physio, but it's a GROUP appt! Confused

LittleSarah · 18/01/2012 17:07

Hello all

Are anyone else's breasts growing at a super scary rate? I remember going up to a G with dd and just an F with ds strangely. I am usually a DD and I bought an E a couple of months ago. It is already getting tight and itchy so I ordered this hotmilk nursing bra in an F last night. (I know I may get bigger again but in my experience breasts go up and down a little with breastfeeding so size not set in stone). My bump seems to be expanding rapidly too, rather worrying, think I might be rather ship-like come May. Dh is actually suggesting I buy things, why don't you get a new bra, I think we should get you some maternity jeans, etc. Most disconcerting.

Having a nightmare potty training ds. Dd picked it up in a few days but it has been weeks now with ds and no breakthrough. Today he made funny faces while climbing on top of me and I asked if he needed a poo or a wee and he said no poo, then weed all over me. I should have been quicker to put him on the potty but... argh.

miko - Sorry to hear about your yoga class, smaller is usually better so I hope your next class is more helpful!

SES - Hopefully your extra band won't be a problem, am sure it will be fine in fact, good they are keeping an eye on it though.

Yorky · 18/01/2012 19:25

LittleSarah - can't say I've noticed my boobs growing that much, but they are pretty sensitve still, or maybe its just that DD seems to like leaning back on me as hard as she can :( think she may have a future as a mammogram machine Grin

Miko - you need to be careful with yoga and SPD, one of the very few useful things my physio said was don't try and work through the pain, it is your body telling you when enough is enough. I know when I did antenatal yoga before DS1 (wonderful place in St Ives Cambs if anyone is around the area) the teacher would modify some positions for some of the women who had SPD or low lying placentas. It basically comes down to having too much of the hormone relaxin in your system which lets your pelvis move too much which causes the discomfort, but can also make you super stretchy and flexible in yoga for example, which makes it easy to overdo it. Hope the osteo helps, I'm seeing a chiropractor after payday

Jealous of all the buggy chat - cannot justify any more but it would be lovely to look what has come out since I last bought one, preferably with a winning lottery ticket in my pocket!

OP posts:
Basse · 19/01/2012 18:36

LittleSarah - that bra looks lovely! I gave up over the weekend and went to Marks for a set of maternity bras, which are very comfy but oh so ugly - my DP looked horrified when he realised what I'd come back with....the website looks like it might have some very pretty things on it so perhaps I'll treat myself to something prettier there. (btw I think mine have stopped growing now, sadly. As someone who barely needed a bra before, this boob expansion has been something of a treat)

dreamingofanallotment · 21/01/2012 17:53

I'm jealous of all this boobular expansion! I've grown a bit up top, but nothing major...I'm hoping I'm going to wake up to find them bigger one day! I guess it's good in someways, as I haven't had to spend out on bigger bras yet. Has anyone found that they seem to be starting milk production (or is it colostrum at this point...can you tell I've never done this before?!) now? I'm finding my nipples are getting slightly crusty Blush and if i squeeze a bit (gently, mind!), moisture comes out. It has taken me by surprise rather as I'd assumed that this only happened right before the baby was born? It rather freaked DH out - god help him if he thinks this is bad!

Basse I'm with you on the ravenous thing - ate sandwich, crisps and banana for lunch...and then had to have more food about 20 mins later as I was still hungry. I did receive an NCT pregnancy email this week that told me that now I was 24 weeks I was going to put lots of weight on (great!) and that I should be trying to eat 500 extra calories per day - so I think the eating lots is fine!

Mikocat Hope your second attempt at finding a yoga class went well. I've been going to aquanatal yoga which I really like, but unfortunately it clashes with my NCT classes which start in Feb. So I need to try and find another one which isn't during the day. Evening classes are rather elusive it seems.

LittleSarah Hope the potty training improves soon!

ballroompink · 22/01/2012 11:15

Well after all that the appointment was a bit of a non-event. They didn't give me another scan, just asked if I had noticed any change or had any pain. As I haven't, the consultant seemed satisfied and has booked me in for a scan on Feb 1st to measure it again. He says there will be two possible outcomes: either that it hasn't grown, in which case they will continue to monitor it and remove after the baby is born; or that it has grown, in which case they will want to remove it via keyhole surgery within a couple of weeks. Very much hoping for the first option!

LittleSarah mine haven't grown at a scary rate yet; I have gone from a 32C to a 32D so far. They're definitely bigger but thankfully are not usually sore. As long as I wear a comfy bra they're okay.

This weekend have started on the mammoth task of clearing the spare room in preparation for decorating it.

dreamingofanallotment I've also found that classes in the evening are totally elusive! Managed to find an evening NCT course (also starting end of next month) but everything else happens during the day when I'm at work.

cupcakefairy · 23/01/2012 12:33

Wow this thread is quiet, where is everyone? My last AN thread I could never keep up with Hmm I noticed there was a 'due late in May' thread...has everyone scarpered to there??

dreaming totally normal to have some leakage in the boobular area at this stage... I remember noticing it at about 20 weeks last time as little patches on my bras...lovely!! Grin hasn't happened yet this time for me but sure it won't be long! Fab that you'll be starting NCT classes...would recommend those to anyone we loved ours when expecting ds, found it such a reassurance when I was scared out of my wits about having a baby... and I still meet up with the mums every week now :) Of course, last time I was pg we had a £100 or so grant just for being up the duffers which was lovely and covered the cost of the classes...darn the tories for scrapping that!!

ballroom sorry the appointment was a bit inconclusive and you have to wait again now...but good that they're not worried about it :)

I just bought a Widgey breastfeeding pillow as Asda baby event had them down to £19...eep, excited as I never had a proper bfing pillow last time.

LittleSarah · 23/01/2012 13:28

Hi all!

How is everyone? Emotional much? I am, feel teary quite a lot, dh doesn't have to say much to upset me... bit of stress over the weekend. Got stopped by police as they couldn't see the tax disc from a distance (it was there) but then they started asking about insurance and didn't believe dh was insured comprehensively through work so took all his details to get him to come in this week with the proof. Good lord, I don't mean to sound like Angry in Edinburgh but don't they have better things to do?! Anyway dh has all the proof required so won't come to anything but really pretty stressful, they ran police check and all that on him, all because they couldn't see the bloomin' tax disc!

dreaming - I saw that thing about putting on lots of weight at 24 weeks too! Lovely. Still I haven't put on too much yet so it is probably due. My dh gets annoyed at me if I mention lack of weight gain (I mean I have gained just not the average yet) but I do eat (pasta, biscuits and dough balls yesterday, although not in that order) and I tend to be smaller than average when pregnant.

cupcake - It is quiet isn't it? I remember trying to do massive catch ups when I was pregnant ds.

basse - My bra arrived and although pretty it does look gigantic! It is a bit big but I am 99 per cent sure it will be big enough by the time wee one arrives, just hope I've not done all my growing in my first half of pregnancy and am now done. Well that would be okay actually just not very good for the bra! Still, I always leak loads of milk in the first 6 weeks and wear cups all the time so it will be useful for that no matter what.

dreaming - Speaking of leakage I haven't had any yet, although I know that it can happen. There were a couple of nights when I woke up and thought things were a little damp there but nothing came out with a squeeze so think it was my imagination. (I know someone who says that she - pre children - sometimes lactated when around breastfeeding mums!)

Ballroom - Good luck with your tidying, I have actually been quite good this morning (for a change) and have managed to clean the bathroom and even some mopping. Feel I should be getting some kind of medal. ;-)

Yorky · 23/01/2012 13:49

I agree cupcake - much easier to keep track of this AN thread! but would be nice to be chattier

Hope everyone is OK

Our car died on Dh way home from work Thurs :( so he 'worked form home' on Fri, which was very handy as we had a family of friends staying with us so at least we got the house tidy before we had 6 kids aged 6 and under destroying it! DS1 had a lovely party on Sunday :) but I'm tired and achey now :( Supposed to pick him up from school today and take him for his swimming lesson but becasue MIL has lent us her car so DH can get to work she can't come and watch the 2 little ones while I take DS1 swimming, or do the swimming bit while I stay home so I have to take all of them which is NOT relaxing or restful and means we'll get home after 5 when they're tired and hungry and I'll ache even more having just pushed the pushchair and buggy board for a little over a mile

Trying to work out how guilty I'll feel for not taking him swimming - so he has more time to play with his new presents obviously Grin, and maybe I'll be a less achey and grumpy mummy too. DS2 was sick in the bath last night, seems OK today but pretty quiet and cuddly which is nice, but another excuse not to walk to swimming - its twice as far as the normal school run and the weather is trying to rain.

Sorry to be so down, just need someone to pat me on the head and tell me DS1 won't resent the baby if I don't take him swimming! Seeing the chiropractor a week on Friday so hoping I'll be able to train with the Olympic gymnastics team after that Grin

OP posts:
Harecare · 23/01/2012 13:51

littlesarah I'm glad it's not just me crying all the time. DP is finally home after 2 weeks at a friend's. He says him and me aren't together, but he's here until the baby is settled - I'm thinking in terms of the start of the summer holidays for a good transition time if he's going to leave. In the meantime I feel hugely relieved to have him back in the house to help out. We're getting along well and working out ways to split parenting duties fairly and amicably - in between tears!!!! Actually I haven't cried all day, that's the first in 2 weeks I think!

Wrigglebum · 23/01/2012 13:54

Cupcake, I think it's just a sign we're in the second trimester and don't have too much to grumble about! I suspect more posts will be made as we all get huge and grumpy Grin.

I am actually starting to feel like I'm getting big, really finding getting out of chairs and cars a lot harder work! Woke up the last two nights with leg cramps too. I swear I'm nearly as big now at 25 weeks than I ever was with DS! My boobs have also just expanded so I wonder what size they'll end up!

That sounds like a good price for a widgey. I am loving my Theraline pillow, I cuddle it every night and I sleep so much better with it!

I got a second hand bugaboo on the weekend, means we can have a buggy in the car and one in the house. Feels nice and light so should be good after the CS. There were a couple of quinny pushchairs at the sale too but they felt so heavy and didn't look like they'd be good with a buggy board. I've been looking on eBay for buggy boards but including postage they are fetching £40+ and you can get a brand new one on amazon for £47!

Ballroom good luck for the next appointment! We are also in the process of preparing to decorate, no more spare room for us!

LittleSarah · 23/01/2012 14:51

harecare - No wonder you are in tears! So hard to be planning a break-up as well as a baby. Glad to hear you are getting on well though and getting the help you need at least! I'm sorry he doesn't seem to be up for working things out though. I am right weepy and have pretty much no excuse, pathetic!

Yorky - I think I'd definitely be missing the swimming, especially considering how you are feeling. Happy mummy is best. Glad the party went well!

wrigglebum - I feel big too and people keep saying things like 'I think you are going to be big this time' and I'm sure dh made some allusion about my not being this big with ds! However I have measured my tummy and am fairly average (I think) so I think it is maybe the fact that my bump has actually popped out earlier than before that is throwing things off. Or maybe I am just massive!

mythical · 23/01/2012 15:51

Hello everyone!

have just read through and will try to cover some subjects!

boobs - they are surprisingly still within a reasonable size - have started as a D and am just a DD at the moment although sometimes i am convinced they have gotten bigger my bras tell me otherwise! Did manage to get 6 nursing bras in the sale at M&S at £1 per pack of 2 ( :O)

food I have been eating loads in the past week but it seems to have settled down now. I had moments where i'd have a big lunch or breakfast and i'd be hungry 30 mins later!

crying oh dear .... OH DEAR! i am usually the least emotional person when it comes to movies, etc. Well, last week I even cried at MONSTERS INC (imagine me crying and being angry at the same time -why the feck am i crying at this!! - and husband laughing his arse off whilst trying to hug me -it's okay, he gets to see Boo again! -) then had the brilliant idea to watch the whole star wars saga.. more crying from me but .. it seems completely irrational, i didn't cry when people died or when they destroyed a planet, but i cried when I saw the hologram from Leia to Obi-Wan asking him for help!? I don't bloody know what's going on inside my head...

antenatal classes I will be attending the free ones from our local children's centre and the only ones available start end feb and they're evening classes! Which is good as husband has just started new job and was feeling a bit cheeky asking for time off (although he shouldn't as he's entitled to it)

quiet thread Seems like it! but i'm only on one other thread (not mumsnet forums) and it's a generic pregnancy one - it moves so fast (4-5 pages a day) i just can't keep up with it!

Also jumping in with

back pain having a LOT of that at the moment - i have bought a maternity belt thingy and it does help but i haven't got a clue where it is at the moment - lost in the house somewhere. Midwife suggested swimming so will be doing that on thursday hopefully.

moving house :( Very stressful as i'm still off sick and not feeling 100%, would much rather sleep than pack.
Also we've viewed a house a couple of days ago - more expensive than our flat, half the size, and ... very 70's.. in a very bad way, think, Avocado bathroom suite with no shower (not even a tap shower, just a green bath with a hot tap and a cold tap..!?) and blue variegated carpets everywhere (including bathroom) so we will be giving that a miss... especially as our sofa wouldn't fit in any room in that house - ouch!
quick update before i post, have just had a call from a lovely lady at a local lettings agency -she knew we were looking for somewhere to live - 2 bedrooms, and she rang me up as soon as she got the notice in from the tenant - really pretty 2 bedroom terrace cottage in a lovely area.. :) so watch this space lol :-D

braxton hicks still getting them infrequently, they're not painful but just feel odd!

also a bit of an embarrasing subject... trapped wind what on earth is going on :( have been unable to sleep because of it! went to bed at 11 PM last night and was up until 2 AM with bad pain, that then brought on heartburn and generally feeling ill, the only way i found i could fall asleep was being propped up with loads of pillows and it might relieve my pain but not very comfortable for my back, like sleeping in a chair!! I don't know what to try really..

ballroompink hope they're a bit more helpful at your next appointment!
Wrigglebum Have you got a local facebook sale site thingy? we have one for our area - "items for sale in XXXXXX" it has about 8000 members - bare in mind i live in a rural area! and there's LOADS of stuff on it! someone was selling a buggy board used a couple of times for £30 all boxed, also people tend to be a bit more open to negotiations :)
Yorky I'm sure your DS1 will be fine! maybe try and do something else with him at home so he doesn't feel he's lost "his" time if that makes sense.

Sorry for the mammoth post and hope everyone is doing okay! :-)

luckynumber11 · 23/01/2012 23:44

Hi everyone, just saying hello and checking in, been reading all your latest news.
Re: bra issues, I hope mine will stop growing now! I was quite well endowed pre-children, but have gone up a size or two with each pregnancy and I know some people find they reduce back afterwards to less than they were to start with... But in my case that doesn't seem to happen! So now on dc3 I find myself up to a G cup already, which is the largest size in most mat bras...please don't let them grow any more!
I also decided that this time i'd try and keep in normal pretty bras just in a larger size, but a few weeks ago I was so uncomfortable (and itchy over my chest, is anyone else getting that?) that I gave in and bought some cotton non-wired maternity bras. Totally un-stylish but wow, so much comfier! Still a bit itchy now and then, but also I've been itchy for weeks on the tops of my shoulders. How weird is that? Anyone ever heard of that before? Never had it in previous pregnancies!
I had a mini panic this weekend, when I thought my pants seemed just too wet when I went to the loo (sorry TMI), and I started wondering if i could be leaking amniotic fluid. But it only happened the once, haven't noticed anything un-toward in last 2 days, so i haven't done anything about it. I know it could just be a side effect of pregnancy, I just thought it seemed more wet / watery than I would expect at the time. But I also think I could just be overly - paranoid like you get with pregnancy. I've put the Doppler type thing on my tummy a couple of times, and can hear the heart beating away.
Must get to bed now!

LittleSarah · 24/01/2012 08:12

Pretty awful night last night. Heard ds crying about midnight, he had thrown up in his bed so we brought him in with us. Cue a very restless five hours before he then threw up in our bed; ugh, poor lad. Absolutely the smelliest sick I have ever encountered! Of course he is totally fine apart (wee cough but that is all). Pretty knackered now.

luckynumber11 - I know what you mean about the itchy around breast area, I've been getting that a bit too although seems to have calmed down. Fingers crossed your breasts don't grow anymore!

mythical - Nice to have another emotional mate. I hope you get that cottage, it sounds lovely. People always seem to need to move house and such when pregnant its funny. Hopefully the biggest thing we'll have to organise getting a bigger car in a few months, already can't be bothered with that! Hope you feel better soon.

Sugarx · 24/01/2012 12:15

Hey everyone - reassuring to see others in the same boat - am a bit of an emotional wreck at times...

Haven't checked in for a while as my whole life was turned upside down at the end of last year - my Mum passed away unexpectedly at the end of October, followed by my Dad also passing away unexpectedly three weeks later. My sister was then hospitalised three days later due to unexplained vomiting (six stone weight loss in four months...) unrelated to bereavement. Mum and Dad knew about the pregnancy and were both over the moon - I'm devastated that neither of them will be here to meet their first grandchild.

20 week scan then revealed moderate ventriculomegaly, so have been in and out of hospital for further scans, and up to Sheffield for a fetal MRI (I fell asleep during it!) Was offered amnio and even told that moderate ventriculomegaly is considered as sufficient grounds for a termination prior to 24 weeks... Was terrified. Couldn't face the 1 in 100 chance of miscarriage with the amnio so decided against it.

Sister is due to go back in to hospital as she low potassium from still being unable to keep anything down for more than half an hour, and I have to go back to work next week. Looking forward to having something else to think about but worried about my sister. She may be 38 but she doesn't have anyone else now that Mum & Dad have both gone :(

Just trying now to get on with things - can't believe how fast time is going. I have a terrible feeling this is all going to creep up on me and I'm completely unprepared, through lack of knowledge (how the hell does anyone make it through the minefield that is 'choosing a buggy'?) and ridiculous superstition (what's the point in preparing if it's all likely to go wrong anyway?). I put the latter down to grief and the former down to, well, just being a bit crap, really!

Am due 13 May, #1, if someone could add me on to the new list, as am messaging from my phone, which makes copying and pasting an unfathomable obstacle. Many thanks in advance.

Good luck everyone with the next few weeks x

Harecare · 24/01/2012 13:44

sugarx I'm so sorry for your losses. I don't know what ventriculomegaly is, what does it mean? I hope your sister gets better soon, my sister got ill like that a few years back at about the same age and it turns out she has coeliacs disease. Once she was diagnosed she just stopped eating gluten and now she's fine. Could it be that?
