Hello :)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

You see Dream I was an easy baby and delightful teenager (honest - for delightful, you can read 'square' if you wish!) so I'm scared that my mum will think I'm a total loser if at any time, DS fails to be anything other than perfect....Confused

Mind you she does seem to have partial blindness when it comes to any 'sub-optimal' behaviour by DS Hmm.

Biscuitsandtea · 09/11/2011 20:58

Dream - how is dd doing going to sleep tonight? Hope all is well xx

dreamfeeder · 09/11/2011 21:26

Asleep! Minimal fuss tonight but she was truly shattered after a day with her beloved grandpa while I worked. Coughing loads though, poor button. Dh says he's going to have a listen to her chest as its not improving. Fingers crossed for tonight but i don't blame her wanting comfort in the night for coughing fits- I just wish I could get to sleep afterwards!!!

Biscuitsandtea · 09/11/2011 21:34

Oh good Dream, well I mean good she's got off to sleep ok, not good that she's still got her cough - poor little thing.

I've just decided to prise my wedding ring off. Not because I'm planning on going out on the pull or anything (not sure the bump would help if this was my aim Hmm). But just because it was tight before I got pg so (like last time) didn't want any swelling to result in it having to be cut off.

Before I got pg, I reckon I would have needed to lose best part of a stone to be able to easily get my ring off, so since I've now put on an extra half a stone and my weight is only going in one direction, this has been quite a mission! That finger now looks like I've slammed it in a door or something! Still, I WILL NOT have it resized. That and my engagement ring are my post baby target! I will get back into them

dreamfeeder · 09/11/2011 21:45

Well, no need to do anything yet biscuits, you're growing a whole new person! I'm the other way- lost weight and muscle I think through The Puking and though I am delighted to be back at my pre-pregnant weight, the bump is so big I know its not back on everywhere... I am almost tempted to put pics of my bump at 16 weeks last time and now on here for bump size opinions.. I sometimes think all the random people who comment don't have a lot if exposure to pg women when they give their comments (though i guess the consultant and mw do!!) . Oh, and Friday's so imminent, I'll get my tenner for over t'internet anterior placenta diagnosis!!! One of the twins kicked so i felt it on the outside and inside yesterday- shame it was in my insomnia at 12:30ish and Dh asleep!

dreamfeeder · 09/11/2011 21:48

P.s I was like you- may have grumbled but didn't really seriously occur to me to not do what parents said as a teenager, not interested in boys and drinking, square!!!

Biscuitsandtea · 09/11/2011 22:01

Oh I know - not doing anything weight wise now - apart from eating cake and biscuits to make it more of a challenge post baby!

But I always said when we were ttc that when we either gave up ttc or I'd popped (ha ha Hmm) the baby out, this was going to be my project. I will get down to a good weight.

I really struggled to commit to getting in shape while ttc because for 2 weeks every month, I was scared to push it, 'just in case'. Granted this was probably an excuse Confused.

So, I'll not do anything too daft while pg and then bf, I'll try to take advantage of any bf weight loss and then I'm going to be on it!!

You must be feeling better now Dream that you're doing better with the sickness?

Would love to compare and contrast your bump pictures!!Smile

Wants3 · 09/11/2011 22:04

biscuits and dream my lovely boys are 14 and 16. They are generally nice but do occasionally have their moments. We still have chats on my bed at the end of the day! ( instead of cuddles) and lots of laughs :)

Biscuitsandtea · 09/11/2011 22:15

Thank you Wants. I guess like our toddler tantrum tales, I probably only ever heard the newsworthy bits at work, which are probably the worst bits! I used I always be surprised when the colleague with the three terrible teens mentioned in passing any sort of normal conversation that they'd had! I must have imagined his kids to just be awful all the time which was probably never going to be the case!

Biscuitsandtea · 09/11/2011 22:30

Gah! I have that exploding / imploding rib cage thing again this evening Sad

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 10/11/2011 10:19

Hi, everyone I lost a post a couple of days ago but it didn't work and I have been too lazy busy to post again. Blush

I went for a nap on Tues at 11.30 as I couldn't keep my eyes open and didn't wake up until 3.30pm Hmm generally feeling a bit tired and grotty.

So I had a GP appt yesterday and I am signed off for 3 months! I am having early blood tests on the 18th as I was concerned I am anaemic.

Most worryingly of all, my blood pressure has shot up from 115/60 to 135/86. I am going to be watched for that, but I am really worried about it. :(

I am 23 weeks tomorrow and I can't wait until I am 30 weeks so that I can relax a little as he would have a good chance of survival if it all goes wrong. Struggling a bit with not brooking, even though logically it should be fine... Right?

Sorry it is a bit me me me.

The heavy aching under bump and sharper pains are likely ligament pains, I have had them and they are normal as you stretch and grow.
I have had the rib pain too!

And as for tantrums, they can be difficult. But there are countless lovely moments each day, whereas they might only be a couple of wobblers.
DD was upset that I turned the TV off earlier, had a bit of a cry. and I asked if that was better once she had stopped and she said 'Yes, that's better' and was cheerful. Amused me :)

pommedechocolat · 10/11/2011 14:04

Oh purple that all sounds a bit rubbish. Everything will be fine. I always concentrate hard on 24 weeks as then they are at least given a chance in hospital.
Fingers crossed everything is fine with you.
Love your dd saying everything was better after a cry. Mine has been a bit of a pickle today but she sat on a proper chair in a cafe earlier and ate soup and bread saying 'dip dip' so nicely that all is forgiven now!

jenfraggle · 10/11/2011 14:13

Purple things will be fine. Now that they have found out they can keep an eye on you and make sure you get the care you need.

Feel a bit bad saying this now but I had my letter today saying that my Downs risk is low, only had the scan on Monday so well chuffed with the quick response.

scarletfingernail · 10/11/2011 15:15

That's excellent news jen it's such a relief isn't it.

Purple I agree with jen at least it's been highlighted and I'm sure now they'll be keeping a close eye on it you'll be absolutely fine. How often will you be having it checked? Am I right in thinking it's considered high if over 140 and 90? Good news on being signed off, keep napping if you need it. I had a 2 hour nap yesterday afternoon and felt so much better for it.

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 10/11/2011 16:35

It is definitely a relief Jen and you are right to feel chuffed.

Pomme 24 weeks is something to look forward to but I know the prognosis isn't good, so 30 weeks which will be around Christmas is a good time to relax.. Hopefully!

Scarlet I think it is 140/90 and then I might need medication. That increase was in 6 weeks so I am not happy, hopefully it will go down on its own. I am having it checked in two weeks at MW appt. and then go from there.
It buggars up my plans for local birth centre if my blood pressure goes up as well as the general increased risks. :(

jazzy283 · 10/11/2011 16:45

hey ladies, went for my dr appointment today i have a scan on tuesday due to a previous eptopic so they want to make sure bean is in the right place this time fxxx god this is going to be the longest 4 day wait ever

scarletfingernail · 10/11/2011 17:21

That's good jazzy it will be very reassuring to see your bean growing in the right place. Of course it will be what with all the brooking from this thread and the conception one.

Purple did they advise anything you can do to help your blood pressure come down naturally? I don't know how it works but would be interested to know.

Biscuitsandtea · 10/11/2011 17:41

Jazzy glad they are giving you a scan to check all is as it should be. Do you have something nice to distract you over the weekend? What time is the scan on Monday?

Purple you poor thing - I always think blood pressure is a bit of a vicious circle, in that if the tell you it's high it worries you and then that makes it higher Hmm. As others have said, its's good that it'll be monitored. Have they given you any suggestions as to how to keep it low?

I've just got out my notes and my first BP reading was 130/70 (8 weeks) which is perhaps quite high then? But the mw didn't say anything at all about that being high. It's then been 108/62 and 126/72 (at 16 and 18 weeks respectively) so does seem to go up and down quite a bit on its own? You might find it was just a bit high today for some external reason? But of course better that it is being monitored. I guess resting etc are all good things? When possible obviously!

Maybe work was stressing you out? May I ask why you were signed off? It surely has to be better for your blood pressure if you're not having to go?

Must go and do DS's tea....

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 10/11/2011 17:49

Scarlet nope, although think I would have been signed off just for that never mind anything else. I googled and DH gave me a massage as that is supposed to help Wink

Jazzy you will have twin beans all in the right place.

Biscuitsandtea · 10/11/2011 18:02

Well, I don't know why I bothered with that - he must have eaten all of 3 mouthfuls, and it's one of his favourites. Never mind - it's my favourite too (And I've just wolfed down a lovely big plateful) so I'll just reheat his and polish it off after he's in bed

Right, sorry Purple - my last post was a bit half arsed as I got distracted half way through by the dinner thing.. Very sorry that things must be so stressful. So you must be signed off until almost when you'll be going on ML?

Would ante natal yoga or anything like that help at all? Might be a bit woo Hmm but I guess if you're signed off then you might have time in the day to try some relaxation? Sorry, I don't really know why you've been signed off so that might be totally impractical?

musicalmrs · 10/11/2011 18:03

Evening all!

Biscuits, good luck for your scan tomorrow! What time is it?

Jazzy, it's great they've offered you an early scan. Four days is nothing - it's when you're counting weeks and weeks between scans/reassurances that you REALLY go mad!

Yikes Purple, that doesn't sound good. On the plus side, being signed off must be lovely - I mean, in that you can rest and look after yourself properly, and hopefully the lack of stress etc will help with the blood pressure. They'd have only signed you off if they were sure that you needed it.

In terms of high BP, my DH used to have a problem in that his was always high when he went to the doctors! Happened a couple of times, they were pretty worried.. the next time it happened it was too low! So not sure what's going on there... but it can be for a variety of reasons.

Had my flu jab yesterday. As suspected, arm is now very painful. Had it in the left; not helpful when I had to spend today teaching year 10s bass lines - oops! Should have thought of that in advance! Really can't wait until the weekend...

On a completely different topic, I've found out I have to go to a family funeral early next week, which will entail a 4/5 hour drive! Any bladder-saving tips? I'm constantly needing to go at the moment. I read that a troublesome bladder, just like ms, are likely to start resolving themselves at this point (until later in pregnancy, naturally!) but no sign of either leaving.. argh!

jazzy283 · 10/11/2011 18:06

biscuits the scan is 11 am on tuesday and nothing planned for weekend yet but will now lol

purple that would be nice all over in one go lol lol :) jus so you know my sister had manic blood pressure all through her pregnancy and the was checking her her did go very high and like you she was worried however she took some time of work and her corrected its self, they also thought the anticipation and worry of her constant checks was a factor in hers being high my DN alicia was born 7 days late ! ( i know it prob dont help but thought id share)

scarlet it will deffo calm me down to see bean in right place i know it is just be good to be told ;)

Thanks ladies ill keep you all updated

Biscuitsandtea · 10/11/2011 18:08

Scan is not until 1:20 tomorrow but then we have to have the consultant appt and bloods done too so will probs be there a while....

Your poor arm Musical! Definitely sounds like you need DH to pamper you this evening! No bladder ideas I'm afraid. Apart from knowing where all the services are. Or maybe a she wee? Hmm

jazzy283 · 10/11/2011 18:19

good luck for scan biscuits x

musicalmrs · 10/11/2011 18:23

jazzy, definitely book yourself a busy weekend! Or make yourself busy somehow!

Biscuits, will lurk in the afternoon to hear your news :) If only DH could pamper me - I'm stuck in central London, waiting until a rehearsal/class (its a bit of both) starts at 8pm! I tell myself I'll use this time to do work, but instead I'm doing anything but..

Oh, and my rehearsal will involve lots of arm movement. Typical! This is why I wanted my flu jab in half term...
