Hello :)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pommedechocolat · 31/10/2011 18:41

Too - congrats!! Yay, another Brooking girl bean. Good work on the rest of the results too :)

They say max 1.5 -2 hrs in a car seat at any one time. Our families live about 3 hours away too so we did one pit stop in the middle normally for just over half an hour or so on journeys there and back.

Biscuitsandtea · 31/10/2011 19:01

That's fabulous news Too GrinGrinGrin

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 31/10/2011 19:07

Thanks Pomme and Biscuits - I keep singing little ditties to myself that go 'little pink bean/little pink bean/see how you jump/see how you jump' etc. I got the phone call this morning as I was arriving at work and am still soaring.

Also, I had another go on the doppler last night and found a much louder gallopy noise, so think possibly the first time it was the placenta I was hearing. How is the rest of Team Doppler doing? I can't believe Amazon with the secondhand one - what were they playing at?

Wants3 · 31/10/2011 20:30

How exciting too a pink one! Can you send some of that pink vibe my way? I know a healthy bean is what I ultimately want, I can't help imagining a pink one!
DH has finally accepted that if I read something on MN it must be taken seriously!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 31/10/2011 20:38

Congrats Too!! A little girl, you're soooooo lucky!

My gender scan is on the 12th nov, and I think I'll be confirming the first No Brooking Boy bean, unless there are any 20 week scans before then? I know a couple of people are having scans just before me, can't remember if those are 20 week scans?

I can't believe your mw's are so unsupportive Dream how frustrating! I will be keeping my fingers crossed that there's no more spotting for you, but if anything else worrying does happen I second everyone else's suggestion to make someone listen to you!

Biscuitsandtea · 31/10/2011 20:42

Scream we have our next scan on 11th but won't be finding out so we will be having an UBB (unidentified brooking bean) Smile

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 31/10/2011 20:55

Unidentifed brooking bean! [hgrin]

Scream, good luck for the 20 week scan - shall wish good luck again closer to the date, but it never hurts. I have my flu jab on the 12th, which I must not forget! Then the 20 week scan is on 14 Nov.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 31/10/2011 21:01

I wish I was that far along Too! Mine is a 16 week scan this time round, I'm not having the 20 week one until Xmas week. Thanks for the good luck though, I'm still a little nervous!

Biscuitsandtea · 31/10/2011 21:11

Scream, how many weeks will you be at your 20 week scan then? I'm rubbish at counting (despite my Maths degree and accountancy qualification).

I'm just trying to work it out because my SIL is 6 weeks behind me so wondered whether she'll get her 20 weeker before or after Christmas.

Obviously I could just ask her this!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 31/10/2011 21:18

I'll be 21 weeks at my 20 week scan on the 19th Dec. I'm 4 weeks behind you (you prob don't remember but we were cycle buddies when you got your BFP, and I followed the next month!) so your SiL is in with a chance!

NinjaChipmunk · 31/10/2011 21:21

aw too a little girl, how lovely. Congratulations.
I shall be calling the gp and/or midwife tomorrow to get booked in. I'm feeling very tired tonight and had my first, albeit very brief, nausea sicky sensation this morning on the way to work. I would go back and read what everyone has said but i'm too tired to remember it all!
Hopefully we won't need to buy a new pushchair/ pram/ carseat as although our cameleon is old it should still work fine with a bit of cleaning up. Might buy a new hood for it though, our summer one is a bit filthy and knackered....

Biscuitsandtea · 31/10/2011 21:25

Ah yes that rings a bell! And of course you were in the BFP-athon!

I've just been week counting and I think she'll be 20 ish around that week so might be lucky but I bet everyone wants their scans before Christmas!

Nonetheless it will be very exciting to hear how your gender scan goes! Now, you know you have your independent mw? Do you still have NHS mw appts too? When is your next independent one?

Biscuitsandtea · 31/10/2011 21:27

Hmm yes Ninja I was debating heather to treat myself to some new covers for our chameleon. Nowt much wrong with them (as far as I'm aware although they've been up in the loft) but might fancy a change....

What colour is yours? I never had the summer hood for mine. Is that the breezy thing? Breezy canopy? Am I right in thinking your DS is about a yr older than mine? I get confused with who's DC are where....

Biscuitsandtea · 31/10/2011 21:28

Whether, not heather.

I hate my phone sometimes!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 31/10/2011 21:36

Biscuits generally there's no point in having the NHS mw appts alongside the indep ones. You have your NHS booking in appt to get you scheduled at the hospital for the birth, plus you go back for blood tests and scans. Other than that you can skip all the standard NHS mw appts if you want to (or keep them if you have the time!!) I've got my next indep mw appt at 17 weeks, altho I also have a super pointless NHS consultant appt at 16 weeks to discuss my pmt pre-pg.

Good luck for your 20 week scan!

NinjaChipmunk · 31/10/2011 21:37

ds has just turned 4, and we have a grey canvas base, a black canvas hood and an orange light fleece hood which has mesh in the sides (hence the 'summer weight' thing). It needs a new front wheel if I remember rightly but thats easy enough to sort out. I think if I don't have to shell out for the the baby stuff then a few new bits and bobs are totally justified. I've also been updating my list of favourite names on my phone. Not sure if I should allow myself to get carried away so early?

Biscuitsandtea · 31/10/2011 22:02

Oooh, nice choice on the colours!

We have a brown base and beige top, but I've never been 100% on it. It did however match our living room very well! And it did spend a lot of time in the living room as that was what ds slept in downstairs, as it had the proper mattress etc, so was about as good as a Moses basket I think.

I quite like the v dark grey base, although every time my mum sees one with a grey base and beige top she's all 'Oooh, that doesn't look nearly as nice as the brown base', but I think possibly the grey base looks nicer. I might have a sneaky trip along to our buggy shop and see if there's anything i like better, although I suspect DH might be hard to convince on this one unless there's something wrong with ours when we get them down!

That makes a lot of sense about the mw appts Scream - will be interesting to hear how you get on at your 17 weeker - see if you get anything extra!

DizzyKipper · 01/11/2011 06:25

Congratulations Too on your little pink bean Grin
Me and OH have decided not to find out the gender until the birth - it's something OH is very intent on and I wouldn't want to accidentally let slip what we were having.

Have been loving all the pram and car seat chat, I never knew babies could get flat heads from being kept in there so long! Is this the kind of thing it tells you in the pregnancy/baby books? Me and OH should be getting a tax rebate of around £1k in April, he wants to spend it on a holiday (I'll be 32 weeks by then), I think it's perfecting timing to get lots of baby things.

Scream that's interesting that you've gone with a private mw (never knew they existed before until I saw one driving about in an advertising car). Do you think they'll be better than the NHS ones?

dream your mw sounds awful, can you ask for a different one?

Biscuitsandtea · 01/11/2011 06:33

Bleh!

Have been feeling sick since yesterday. But feels different to my MS nausea that I had. In fact I actually was sick yesterday Sad. Feel SadEnvySad.

I also have a yucky phlegmy cough that makes me want to hurl too Sad

Today is going to be a loooooong day with ds I think Sad.

Am kind of tempted to see if I can put him in nursery instead.

Hope everyone else is well

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 01/11/2011 09:00

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well Biscuits! if it's any consolation, when i had my cold I was worried to whole suppressed immune system thing meant it would hang about for ages, but in reality I think I recovered from it in pretty standard time. So fingers crossed you'll be feeling better sooner than you expect as well!

Dizzy I really like my independent mw, and I think she's amazing, I don't imagine she's any better than a good NHS mw though. I chose to have an indep mw so I can pick my own mw, someone I trust and get on with. I also wanted to have the continuity of being cared for by the same person antenatally, from start to finish in labour, and postnatally. I think the NHS has good mw's and bad ones, same as any profession, and I didn't want the pot luck of having a bad one at the birth. Plus even the good NHS mw's are under a huge amount of pressure at the moment, and are solely responsible for far too many labouring women at the same time, so they aren't really given a chance to do their job properly. This is all the theory behind my decision anyway, we'll see how it pans out!

NinjaChipmunk · 01/11/2011 09:10

morning all! biscuits sorry to hear you are poorly lovely, hope you perk up soon.
I always thought the carseat rule for newborns was 2 hours (at least is was when ds was born but i guess that was ages ago). DS was a puker from the day he was born so we had to use the car seat often as it kept him more upright. We always made sure we had regular breaks though so he could stretch out. I remember pram/ pushchair shopping being one of the most stressful parts of pregnancy, it was totally bewildering! They all do the same thing but a little bit differently and I remember nearly ending up in tears in John Lewis cos I couldn't stand the pressure!
Got my gp appointment this afternoon to get the ball rolling and get booked in.
Hope everyone else is well and not feeling too ill?

Biscuitsandtea · 01/11/2011 09:35

You know if I have a d&v bug, that's ok from a pg point of view isn't it? I'm trying to drink plenty. Haven't eaten anything yet today. I don't need to call the mw do I, unless it goes on for maybe 2 or more days?

NinjaChipmunk · 01/11/2011 09:42

i think it depends on how you cope with it. I reckon if it carries on for a few days there's no harm in calling for advice but keep drinking and trying to eat tiny bits and i think you should be ok. Maybe some of our resident Dr's might know?

dreamfeeder · 01/11/2011 09:48

I've had bad d&v bugs in both my pregnancies so far biscuits. Very unpleasant but not harmful unless you get totally dehydrated. This time I was sick every 20 min for 11 hours, often while being on loo too, and i recovered fine! Last time i got UTI symptoms as I got dehydrated and was on verge of ringing Dr when started managing some fluids. So i really hope you feel better soon lovely!!! xx nursery sounds like a good plan.

2 hours max for car seats for spines and heads :-) some say 1.5. Dd was very pukey and had reflux so i carried her in babybjorn a lot- nice upright position she was comfy in, even round the house!

dreamfeeder · 01/11/2011 09:50

Definitely keep trying with fluids, and diarolyte if you really can't manage much and can't eat. I've still got loads from my prescription for my morning sickness, I'll chuck some your way
