Yaaaaayyyy Hawthers! Excellent news!

Love, good luck tomorrow.

Dream, how is your DD today?

Scream, oh no about the migraines. Have you seen the GP as well as the MW? Hope they clear up soon and don't come back.

Doppler has arrived! It was waiting when we got home from work today, so we had to test it instantly. DH put the headphones on first and after some fiddling found a little tiny hb going whoosh whoosh much faster than mine - yay! Really easy to use and very reassuring.

Hope everyone else is well.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 24/10/2011 19:02

Yay for Hawthers' good news! Normal sounds excellent!!!

Also, best of luck to Love for your scan tomorrow - lots of No Brooking going on for you now!

I hope Dream's DD is feeling better today?

Too that's great news about the doppler! I will be ordering one of those tonight! I've just had my booking in appointment with our indep mw (who is absolutely lovely) and at the end of the appointment she listened to the heartbeat for us! It never gets old hearing that!! I love the idea of having access to that between appointments.

I had another bad headache after coming home in the midday sunshine (for my mw appt) but as soon as it got cloudy this afternoon the pain lifted. I'm really quite hopeful that as soon as the normal winter weather kicks in these migraines will be far fewer and easier to cope with! Plus my nausea is decreasing so at some point soon I might even be able to swallow tablets again (luxury indeed!) so the wonderful world of paracetamol pain relief will reopen to me! Feeling much more positive all round after hearing the heartbeat - it just puts me in a great mood!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 24/10/2011 19:09

Oops! Doppler ordered! [hblush] Now how to tell DH....?

scarletfingernail · 24/10/2011 19:30

Grin at scream. I've just done the same! Dumbledore I wasn't going to get a doppler, but your post just convinced me otherwise. I know there's a chance of freaking if I can't find the heartbeat, but hey I'm freaking most of the time anyway so hopefully this will calm me down.

hawthers so pleased to read your scan update. Really is fantastic news.

LoveIn Looking forward to your scan update tomorrow.

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 24/10/2011 19:45

Yay for Scarlet getting a doppler too! We can be Team Doppler! Hee hee!

I have also promised myself not to freak out if I can't find the heartbeat. It's meant to be enjoyable, but if I can't find the right sound then I just have to keep in mind that I'm not a trained mw! I don't think I'll freak out though, so long as nothing else worrying happens I'll just wait for my next appointment.

It does seem like I have an awful lot of appointments booked now. I have a private 16 week scan booked, along with my 20(21) week scan on the nhs. Plus I have an NHS consultant appointment at 16 weeks, and an indep mw appt at 17 weeks. I've also advance booked in my indep mw appt at 21 weeks. That's 5 appts between now and Christmas! Slightly crazy but looking forward to all of them (except the consultant one!)

Wants3 · 24/10/2011 19:53

Great news hawthers it must be so reassuring to get lots of positives. The Doppler sounds a lovely idea but don't think I could justify it to DH as we didn't do it for the first 2!

Biscuitsandtea · 24/10/2011 19:55

Hmm, DH here is a bit Hmm on the Doppler front so don't think I'll be indulging there Sad

Still, he doesn't seem to mind what else I buy, or that I've bought almost all new maternity clothes this time round Grin so can't complain Grin

scarletfingernail · 24/10/2011 20:25

I was also Hmm re the doppler. I remember someone I know buying one a few years ago and I thought it was a bad idea for reasons already mentioned.

It didn't even cross my mind to buy one with pg with DS, but I enjoyed that pregnancy and had no reason to think I might need one. I didn't have the same worries then that I have now. I didn't tell DH until after I'd placed the order. He didn't have an opinion either way, I think he's just hoping it will stop me feeling so anxious all the time.

Biscuits lucky you having a new wardrobe. I'm intending to get my old stuff out of the loft at the weekend and having a rummage through. I reckon I'll need some new jeans but that'll probably be it. Although April is the opposite season to DS's birthday so I might get away with having a new things....

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 24/10/2011 20:33

I'm just getting the doppler as a bit of fun. It's not expensive and I think DH and I will both enjoy it. If it starts to make us anxious we'll have to give it away. I don't want to start relying on it as an indicator of the health of the baby, I'll be leaving that to my midwives etc.

dreamfeeder · 24/10/2011 21:00

hello all!

Yay hawthers, how fantastic!!!!! You must be so delighted.

I have just spent a marathon 2 hours getting DD to sleep.... She is definitely much better, but still not eating or drinking muh and doesn't want to play, just be carried around/held all day And she'll only sleep on me, so after many attempts at a nap I gave in and accepted my fate and sat with her asleep on my chest for an hour and a half... Fairly wearing for me, but I do feel sorry for the little mite so I'm persevering. The only other option is a howling baby, so not much choice really.

I had loads more bad pains, so saw GP and got referred into the gynae ward today. Mucho hanging about, but finally got scanned at 4:30, and they also scanned my left kidney (the pains are like someone is kicking me- and neither baby is anywhere big enough to cause that much pain, making me almost shout out its so sudden and so painful!!!). Both babies were fine, measuring 14+5 and 14+6 (I'm 14+4) so sonographer was pleased with that, said the fluid round both was pretty equal, they were super wriggly, and my kidney seemed fine, no cysts anywhere, cervix closed and fine. So pain unexplained, but I' feeling so much better. I cried... The sonographer has probably seen it all before but I felt a bit silly...Rang DH who said 'see?' (not quite what he said yesterday). Hindsight is a wonderful gift!

Hooray for your doppler too! Are you going to tell us all what sex your baby is when you get the results? You have started Team Doppler Grin

oooh biscuits, what else have you bought? Give us any recommendations!! I have no long sleeve tops so am going to invest in 2. I'm tempted to get these Serephine cross over tops as I have 2 tee-shirts that were a present from DD, which I still wear, and wore at my thinnest, and were the only mat clothes in my size that fitted when I was at my biggest! Plus easy to feed in, if slightly exposed. £29 each at the min, but just plain black or white option, so I'm interested if you have any other must-buy recommendations Smile

wants, thank goodness your heating i back. I would never have emerged from the slanket until that happened (mine's a cheapie slanket rip-off, but same difference!)

Right, off to eat a celebratory mars bar Grin

NinjaChipmunk · 24/10/2011 21:06

Hurrah for your news hawthers that's brilliant news. Very pleased for you.

good luck tomorrow love

Hope everyone else is blooming and lovely?

dreamfeeder · 24/10/2011 21:16

Forgot to sat, good luck for tomorrow love

Oh- and I checked with sonographer- dating is on crown to rump alone til 12 weeks, and head circumference alone from then on- thats what mine were measured on today

hawthers · 24/10/2011 21:32

Very excited now only slightly dampened by DS just waking up screaming for no apparent reason and only wants his daddy who has an important job interview tomorrow argh.

Dream I hope your DD is feeling better soon.

scream I seem to have at least two appts a week. Between the MW, consultant, blood tests, anti d injections and counselling I seem to spend half my life peeing into cups

Biscuitsandtea · 24/10/2011 21:41

Glad you got scanned and all ok Dream, and hope dd perks up soon.

Clothes wise I've needed new stuff because (like Scarlet) I'm 6 mths out on my last pg so had no winter stuff, or anything with long sleeves. Also a lit of my old stuff just didn't fit right. It was all either nit fitting right across the boobage (although I don't think there is more there than last time?) or it was too short (i think fashion has got longer in the last 3 years) so the clothes would just end at my widest point and sort of hang - just didn't look right.

So far I've got a few things off eBay, some more jeans from next and a grew odd tops from their sale, a coat from Jojo and some lovely jumpers from Gap. Those I am v pleased with as they're quite flattering Smile.

Right DH demanding the iPad now so back tomorrow Smile xx

dreamfeeder · 24/10/2011 22:36

oooh, Gap! didn't even realise they did a matternity range!!! Blush I hadn't thought of ebay really either, must have a quick look. I am not a hot kind of person, I can't cope with all my summery stuff secretly pleased Will just have a very quick nosey now... Whats the jojo coat like? Is it as good as in the picture? I'm debating their bretton stripe nursing/mat top too, quite like that... don't tell DH who approves of clothes buying about every 3 years

I hope little DD perks up soon because it's such hard work. Apparently it takes 6 weeks to starve to death- I am counting on this as she has eaten 6 shreddies, 3 chocolate buttons (and if you can't get a child to eat more choc than that you know it's pointless) and 3 mouthfuls of breadstick today. This is similar to the last 4 days. I've told her she's 13 months old and still wearing clothes aged 6-9 months mostly though she's finally in some 9-12 so she must eat even if its chocolate to grow big and strong. She doesn't listen. I'm sure she'll be fine. I feel so much more relaxed about everything now, like a weight's lifted off my shoulders Grin

hawthers, make the most of DS wanting daddy!! You know as soon as number 2 is born and you're busy bf etc etc he'll only want mummy!! Shame it's the night before an interview though, hope it doesn't affect your DH's performance- mine's rubbish if he's tired...

DizzyKipper · 25/10/2011 06:37

Great news hawthers!

Too that must have been so exciting hearing the heartbeat! I'd secretly really like a doppler too but I know there's no way I could justify the expense when me and OH are going to struggle to save up for moving. Oh well, I'll just cheer for Team doppler from the sidelines and daydream instead Wink

Glad they took you in for a scan dream, it is nice when they're taking you seriously isn't it? And even better when it comes up all clear Smile Glad the babies are ok, and also that DD is getting there.

Good luck for today love.

Biscuitsandtea · 25/10/2011 07:46

Oooh yes, Gap is quite good - and if you sign up for their email newsletter you get a voucher for 15% off either in store or online Wink

Jojo coat is good - am quite pleased with it, although still not worn it yet - it's pretty warm and would look better with a bit more bump (although getting there fast on that front). I have a White stuff coat that seems to be stretching around the bumpage for the time being....

My bump aches today Sad. Got out of bed and it feels like a huge weight pressing down in the middle at the bottom Sad. Have got back in bed with ds and it feels better!

Hope your dd gets better soon. Will she eat bananas? They're good for lots of energy with minimal eating energy? But know what you mean if they can't eat chocolate Sad. Did you get her to take the calpol?

Hope everyone else is ok xx

Biscuitsandtea · 25/10/2011 08:02

Also am going shopping today so am going to have a look in H&M and Pumpkin Patch - not sure what sort of a range they have Smile

BartletForAmerica · 25/10/2011 08:55

Congratulations, Hawthers! Great news. It's all the No Brooking around here what does it! Smile

Last time, I thought GAP was good for maternity jeans (will need to sign up for that email to get a discount) and most other things came from Blooming Marvellous or JojoMamanBebe.

At the moment, I'm having a lazy morning in bed (DH took DS to nursery) after another wake up call of vomiting. Envy (That's a vomiting face, not envy!) The tablets are definitely helping though, but I am SO shattered!

Biscuitsandtea · 25/10/2011 09:00

I think blooming marvellous has gone under. I bought some stuff from there last time but now of you go to their website it takes you to the mothercare website and they seem to sell the BM stuff?

hawthers · 25/10/2011 09:09

For maternity clothes I'd recommend h and m but also dorothy perkins and new look. I'd never normally shop there but dp have supplied nearly all my work wardrobe. They've had some really good dresses which have been really ccomfy on the bump as no riding up or down although a complete arse as have to shave legs and I've seen them in colours other than black or grey. New look's mat section actually had some good options and inexpensive too.

Good luck shopping - I'm making do until the end now I think as only have just over 8 weeks left - eek!

Biscuitsandtea · 25/10/2011 09:24

Might look in those two as well today - thanks Smile although am in the lucky position that I don't need a work wardrobe, just like lots of nice comfy jumpers while it's chilly Smile

dreamfeeder · 25/10/2011 10:35

I'm on mousse buying for calpol disguise mission. Dd asleep in car and no wonder, she woke screaming an hour after I put her to bed, then an hour after that, then 30 min later, then 20 min later told I got in the spare bed with her... Cue a really bad night for me and a pretty bad one for her. Tired. Again.

The only shop selling a maternity range in Lancaster is new look. That's it. Dorothy Perkins used to but stopped a year ago. I'm vaguely tempted to go to Preston, but I've never bothered before so no idea where to go which puts me off!!!

What time's the scan love? Hope you enjoy it :-)

DizzyKipper · 25/10/2011 11:34

Eek - 8 weeks is so close Grin Are you actually on maternity leave now hawthers?
