Right, caz what's happening, I am stalking you all over the shop and need more news :)

Congratulations Ali and Kate, and such beautiful names. Hope you are all doing well.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 02/11/2011 12:43

HUGE congrats to all the new babies arriving. How exciting.

Good to hear from you Chip and I hope you are all bearing up as best you can.

mama it is very different 'oop north'! I'm not sure they would know what earl grey tea was round here! :)

Well, I am 38 weeks today and still working! Working from home though and last day tomorrow. So today i dropped DD off at nursery and sat on the sofa for a little bit...and then woke up at 11am! Blush. Am now working hard and not mumsnetting in any way...

I am feeling good good good.

Had my IM around yesterday and she could not be more lovely. She is SO on my wavelength and i am so pleased that kellykettle pointed me in the direction of her IM (who did not work out for me) as then I would not have found this one!
She actually trained under the legendary Sheila Kitzinger (famous UK midwife) and has done lots of HBAC, HB of twins and HB of breech babies.
She reckons baby is perfectly normal size, head down and firmly engaged (at least 2/5ths). I have my HB pack in the dining room, post birth drugs just in case are in my fridge and DP has partially blown up the pool.
My blood pressure is up and down due to my stupid subconcious (basically it shows bob on normal when I take it on my own but even with the IM is goes up) but she has been fab and as I'm showing no other signs, she records my own morning reading in my notes. Urine is lovely and clear and I am feeling very positive.

I know that if this were my first pregnancy they would have got me in for monitoring by now as my bp would be deemed erratic. With DD I had a little bit of ankle swelling but no headaches, no protein or anything, yet because my bp was up when a doctor took it, they started me on the road to intervention.

And around the end of August, the NHS was convinced I had gest diabetes - my IM is just as convinced I do not!

Now I just need to finish work and watch lots of HUTH and go to the cinema in the afternoon. Ah bliss.

Staceroo · 02/11/2011 15:14

Oh voodoo It's King.com for me to!! The only good thing is my works network blocks it, so I have to sign out of my VPN to access it, which looks suspicious as I then disappear offline, so don't play t as much as I could during work time! (Hence Freecell as the alternative!)

MrsA glad to hear so much positive energy coming from your direction!

Laughing at the men and their cups of earl grey and seperate spoons! I grew up around smelly car workshops where it was the biro for stirring the really strong tea all the way! And the mugs NEVER got washed! (Though I must stress I do use clean cups and spoons in my own house! I'm also known to put out a plate of posh biscuits!) Just can't imagine the builders demanding such high standards!

I've just had a major brainwave! Been uncomfy on my DHs office chair all day and have just replaced it with my yoga ball! Sooo much more comfy!

Finally got round to posting nursery pics on fb too. Obviously a productive day work wise! lol

voodoomunkee · 02/11/2011 16:29

Stace, honestly have had to ration myself! I can lose hours playing any mahjong game!
MrsA, sounds like a good visit from your IM.
I wish this stomach ache and back ache would turn into something. Been on and off all day with it.
Had a much better day re productivity. Moved photos from tue SD card so have a clear memory for the baby pics! Done same on phone, 2 years worth of mobile pics. Cleaned, vacuumed the stairs, made a beef casserole for the freezer, polished everywhere to an inch of it's life and watched lethal weapon 3! Now to sort out my iTunes on my phone. I feel much more prepared and relaxed.

hadak · 02/11/2011 16:52

Afternoon everybody and congratulations to Ali and Kate*

Mrs A I too am 38 weeks today and due to see my midwife tomorrow. My BP been fine all pregnancy but I am a little concerned over the swelling which I will mention when I see her.
Voodoo no King.com for me but I have been wasting days on the cooking dash type of apps you get for iphone!
Been generally very lazy today and only managed a small supermarket shop and a very long bath so far- so I had better try and get on with some type of baby room organising as there are piles of clothes/ nappies etc that I have been given that really need sorting out hopefullly before this little one arrives.
Have a good evening everybody.

voodoomunkee · 02/11/2011 17:08

Hadak, I have them too. Haven't started on them yet! I figure whilst can get to the pc am going to save the cooking apps on my phone.
Is it bad that I just cannot be chewed to cook tea so am getting pizza? Nope didn't think so!

goldmaple · 02/11/2011 17:10

Emily Grace was born at 9:17pm October 30th!! A nice healthy 6lb 12oz (At 38+4)

Have no time to read the thread right now. Hope everyone is well!! Sending everyone positive vibes!! Come on babies, its now your month!!

Birth story to come!! (When not completely exhausted!)

PamSco · 02/11/2011 17:14

Congratulations goldmaple and welcome to the world Emily Grace what a pretty name you have :)

Look forward to the story - but rest up first :)

mashpot · 02/11/2011 18:15

Damn lost my post and can't be bothered to retype but did want to say big congratulations to Goldmaple, Ali and Kate. Can't wait to hear all the birth stories soon.

voodoomunkee · 02/11/2011 18:15

Congrats gold! Welcome Emily Grace! Awww. Lovely name, look forward to hearing the birth story.
Can I pinch some labour vibes. Praying all these twinges turn into something!

Staceroo · 02/11/2011 18:34

Congratulations gold and welcome Emily Grace!

Voodoo fx something is happening! Have a nice warm bath and eat a curry and some pineapple! xx

Truffkin · 02/11/2011 19:17

Congrats Gold Ali and Kate and happy snuggling! Looking forward to reading your birth stories when you get time.

I seem to be doing a little but each day, so using my leave to be slightly productive Grin This afternoon I've packed my hospital bag and cleared out the bathroom cupboard. Amazing how much stuff I've hoarded away that I'll never use, I think it's from all the Christmas gift sets I inevitably receive!

Have also made dinner so DH will be pleased again at my house-wifely-ness Grin

No twinges from me (37+5 today) and I've not had BHs or anything similar. Bit of backache but relieved by some time on the birth ball. I'm seeing my midwife on Monday so will be interested to see what she thinks. Am thinking of getting a bikini wax done at the weekend to feel more 'prepared' as well. I'm normally a DIYer but am not confident I could do a good job at the moment Blush

voodoomunkee · 02/11/2011 19:35

Well tried the warm bath. Still got stomach ache. OH is in a storming bad mood! God they pick their moments eh!

pandia · 02/11/2011 19:55

Evening all,
Congratulations to Kate, Alicat and Gold for those I haven't written on FB anyway - such lovely news and gorgeous names. Hope you are enjoying your cuddles.

Hadak and MrsA I'm also exactly 38 weeks today - that's 3 of us! Hopefully cuddles for us not too far off. I've got midwife appt tomorrow and looking forward to seeing what baby is up to - hopefully more engaged than last time. Still watching for signs but nothing really obvious so far. Husband now working in London and I'm down in Hampshire, but unless something happens really quickly should be enough time for him to get here.

Thanks for all the comments on the TENs, I think I'm going to hire one.

Haven't had enough time doing nothing and no daytime telly at all yet - housemove taken up all the time and crikey the amount of builders/plumbers etc I've had to wait in for is ridiculous, including one company that had to come back 3 times to fit some blinds - how hard can it be! Obviously wasn't giving them earl grey or posh enough biscuits to get them to do a good job!!!

pandia · 02/11/2011 19:59

poor you voodoo - what about a nice hot water bottle on your stomach, might ease it and try to relax to block out OH's mood - I certainly know what you mean about them picking their moments!!

Tjuice · 02/11/2011 20:02

Congrats gold and kate!
Emily Grace is a gorgeous name - love it!

I am also semi-productive these days - energy levels are easily zapped. But I have enjoyed my lie-ins (Tue and Wed my DH drops DD at kindergarten). Today I made some calls, then supervised (i.e. made coffee for) the handyman guy who put up a shelf, painted boxes for Elodie's room and hinged a large storage box (myself and DH are total %&?!wits at DIY). Then I did some laundry, which is no mean feat, as its way down in the basement in this old building I live in, so its up and down and up and down...

Finally, I peaced out and went to the cinema - ON MY OWN.
I got a nasty McDonalds first, then watched the utterly bwollox SJP film - "I don't know how she does it".
I was in the mood for something a bit fluffy but it really was crap. What happened to Pierce Brosnan? - he's got really craggy and like an even more stiff version of Richard "Pissholes" Gere. And its all so "men do this" and "women do that" - which may have some truth in there somewhere but the whole thing was just very....binary

So my hospital bag is finally packed - minus tasty snacks and magazines which are winging their way from London thanks to my mum.

I just need to prepare the pram (we live up the road from the hospital so likely will walk back or I will take a taxi), then really small errands - then do some grooming!

voodoo - you sound like you are on top of your game! very organised.

Truffkin - I am very impressed at the dinner-making. I so can't be bothered at the moment. And I can't deal with proper food at night anymore. I have been making porridge for the past three nights. It is pretty gourmet porridge though - with nutmeg, vanilla sugar, butter and raisins. But at least it doesn't repeat on me and give me heartburn all night.

cep · 02/11/2011 20:15

gold congratulations. what a lovely name.

tjuice what sjp film was that?? have to admit i don't know what films are on at the moment apart from lion king. Grin

voodoo goodluck hon, fx oh's mood picks up.

i'm almost scared to log on everytime i do there's another birth. Makes it all so much more real.

smilingcl · 02/11/2011 20:26

Hello ladies,

Due date tomorrow, whoop! Went to midwife today and baby has finally decided to engage so that's good, it's locked and loaded, now it just needs to get moving!

pamsco our gasman told me that we didn't need a safety cert for our gas hob installation a couple of weeks ago either. He did a load of safety tests with us there, demonstrating the gas shutoff etc works and testing gas levels at all connections and stuff. I just get the safety cert for the boiler annually. Oh and one for all the electrical work we've had done.

Congratulations gold and kate! Hope you're enjoying the early days! Birth stories please!

voodoomunkee · 02/11/2011 20:35

Thanks Cep. He's gone to bed :) Peace! Watching Waterloo Road with the dc's.

Pandia, it's typical that I cannot find a hot water bottle anywhere! Nor one of these heat packs that I know the kids have. I wonder if it's indigestion or something Hmm. I dont want to risk getting my hopes up!

TJuice afternoon in the pics sounds lovely! I can promise you I am not really that organised, it's sheer boredom :)

Katiebeau · 02/11/2011 20:56

Congratulations to Goldmaple, Ali and Kate! Well done and looking forward to the birth stories.

40 + 2 today. My bump is breaking records. I actually knocked over a small toddler at nursery today, fortunately his Mum saw and he thought it was very funny!!! So did his Mum thank goodness (no children were hurt in the making of this tale).

My bump is so huge and no matter what I do movement wise my bump and back feel so so tight.

I'm impressed anyone managed to sit in a cinema through any film. I can't sit still for more than 5 minutes.

Voodoo I hope this is it for you!

voodoomunkee · 02/11/2011 21:13

Katie! I just had a giggle at your bumping bump tale! I regularly have a queue of 2 dc's and OH trying to get past me in a door way or just sometimes in a room Blush and I have definitely knocked into my dd who is just the right height to experience the bump full on!

I hope this is it too although I am doubtful and when in doubt I believe it is unlikely to be anything. :( Never mind. I shall head off to bed shortly and see what happens tonight. Night all!

sasaunde · 02/11/2011 21:22

Everything has gone so well up until today. Woke up with lumps on my hands between index and middle fingers - carpal tunnel? Thinking about it I've also had a tingly thumb for a few days but thought it was just an injury or something. Decided to try and curb the nesting a bit to give the joints a rest. Then DH goes to the doctor with stomach ache and is now in hospital with suspected appendicitis! So have been on uncomfortable A&E chairs all day. Hopefully he won't need an op and will be back tomorrow but is staying in tonight for observation. Am sitting with legs crossed tightly tonight...

hadak · 02/11/2011 21:23

Congratulations Gold
So there are 3 of us due 16th then? I must admit I am getting a little worried now about the whole brth thng (I have been pretty much head in the sand about the birth) I have been asked to go into hospital as soon as labour starts due to baby having cord around neck therefore they want to monitor how he's coping with the labour. As I didn't actually go into labour last time.. well waters broke and nothing else so was put on the torture drip to kick start me. I know this is silly but I have visions of me going back and forth to hospital everytime my tummy tightens slightly and driving everybody mad.
Voodoo hope the tummy ache subsides or is maybe the start for you.
Have a good evening everyone

bumpandisaacsmum · 02/11/2011 21:34

Evening ladies

gold congrats, hope you are managing some rest & enjoying baby snuggles

mrsa so glad to hear you've had such positive appts with your I'm

pam and voodoo lots of daytime tv & solly comp games here too, having cleaned the house to the point I can only clean what is already clean I have resorted to daytime in front of tv & comp!!

Had GP today at 39+2 as BP has been creeping up; well it had crept even higher at 136/98 so ended up spending 5hours at the hosp for them to take bloods, check urine again & do BP - all of which were fine, BP had gone back down!! A little annoyed that had to drive 45mins park & be there for 5hrs for that but I know it is better to be checked than not.
Anyway home now & trying to rest but having quite regular twinges that are stronger than previous BH so hoping that this may be the start of things - not getting my hopes up but would be nice :)

Hope everyone else is well xx

knockedupagain · 02/11/2011 22:47

Congrats to alicat, Kate and goldmaple! Baby baby babies!

Good to hear from you Chip.
