alicat10 · 01/11/2011 20:44

Just in case you're not on FB, Henry arrived this morning at 10:45 and is 7lb 1oz of loveliness!

MooseyMoo · 01/11/2011 20:53

Congratulations! Oh, he's got the best birth date Grin hope you are feeling ok. Enjoy your little man.

MooseyMoo · 01/11/2011 20:56

Hmm, that did sound like you should eat him with a side of chips...

Ooh, medium rare steak, pate, wine, self saucing chocolate pud. Drool.

Sorry, I digress.

voodoomunkee · 01/11/2011 21:14

Brill! news Ali! Congrats. Hope you are well too.
I've hit a new level of boredom. I stopped myself from playing any games online as I was quite addicted to bejeweled on Facebook. I hit an all time low and am now playing mahjong. Argghh god, it's all downhill from here!

PamSco · 01/11/2011 21:20

Hurray! Congratulations Alicat and welcome baby Henry :)

Fantastic news.

sasaunde · 01/11/2011 21:59

Awww I love the name Henry.
Mama how sensible and nice your midwife sounds with the 40 / 42 week conversation. Most reassuring.
Can't believe it's finally November! I'm not due til 14th but had loads of clear discharge last night and loads of braxton hicks so I get the (hopeful) feeling that I might not have to wait til 42 weeks at least!

bumpandisaacsmum · 01/11/2011 23:33

ali congrats on the safe arrival of baby Henry, hope you are recovering well xx

chip lovely to hear from you and I hope that you & you family are gettingthe rl support you need xx

mash well done for passing your driving test, I did mine when I was 8.5months preg with DS so know how hard it can be. I then didn't drive until DS was 3weeks old & was terrified but it was great once I started...hope you don't have to wait too long to be behins the wheel xx

Merlioness · 02/11/2011 02:21

Congrats on Henry's birth Ali

cep · 02/11/2011 08:04

welcome sb'smum i started with ds having period pains/ache then had a big bloody show when i went to the loo a couple of hours later.

ali congratulations hon, welcome little Henry.

chip Hi hon, thankyou for letting us know you received the card, i hope you are all doing ok.

saw m/w yesterday baby still the same 3/4 engaged, but seems to be popping in and out, which i think is normal when it's not your first, (am i correct in that?) it doesn't have to engaged totally 2nd time round does it?? i can't remember. but everything's ok. appt booked for 2 weeks time incase baby hasn't put an appearance in by then.

PamSco · 02/11/2011 08:10

cep that's what mw said to me monday. Some babies don't engage and the first contractions bring them down - more so in 2nd plus babies.

Another mw said that 1st timers often don't get past 3/5ths before it starts.

kate393 · 02/11/2011 08:21

Hi all!
Just trying to catch up...seem to have missed so much!
chip glad you got card ok x
In case your not on our FB...Ella Rae was born 4:30am Monday morn after few complications by emcs...7lb13 of total gorgeousness. Still in hosp at mo prob go home either tonight or in morn. Will do birth story when home for anyone who's interested. Gotta go...breakfast time!

PamSco · 02/11/2011 08:34

Yey kate393 congratulations. Welcome Ella Rae, what a clever mummy and daddy giving you such a beautiful name :)

Home you get settled at home soon.

Staceroo · 02/11/2011 08:40

Congratulations Ali and Kate!

Found I've been quite unproductive working in the lounge in front of the tv so far this week, so relocated to my DHs study for today. So now my only distractions are mahjong (ditto voodoo!) and freecell!

Welcome SBsmum - fx things are getting started for you, but I know I had similar pains (albeit without the discharge) last week and mw said its just baby and body getting ready - and I am still here waiting! But then I've never done this before so who knows!

Wishing baby would come today!! (38+3 so optomistic i know!)

TwoJackRussellsandapumpkin · 02/11/2011 08:58

Congrats to all the new babies and good luck to everyone getting started, sitting here with the hiccuping end result looking forward to hearing everyone else's good news :)

voodoomunkee · 02/11/2011 09:15

Morning all! Congrats Kate! Lovely name and glad to hear she is here safely.
Stace, midas mahjong is evil. King.com has a lot to answer for!
Well still nothing here. Shouldn't complain as am not overdue... But hey of you can't complain in late pregnancy when can you!
Re engaging, I know with this being my 3rd she's unlikely to engage fully til actual labour. However she was right down, 2/5. Anything after your 1st and because everything is 'looser' (my mw's words not mine!) they are less likely to engage totally before labour. Last night I discovered I have ribs and hips. I can trace round the bottom of my ribs now, she must be cramped as anything cos am not very tall! Also my stomach is actually rumbling, no heartburn forcing the hunger away! Very happy voodoo today!
Hope everyone else is well :)

Merlioness · 02/11/2011 09:19

Congratulations kate!

PamSco · 02/11/2011 10:19

Aaah complete pain in the backside today. I have a really excellent guy due to come round and do a full gas service. His only failling is he always runs late - last time 2 days late, but he does let you know ahead of time of a reschedule.

So he said he'd be here at 09:30h - fab. I was showered and breakfasted by 09:10h. When OH went to leave he picked up a card which was the blokes card he had called at 08:15h! I was in teh shower and OH shaving so we didn't hear the bell. Now I can't get hold of him. So I have no clue if he is coming or not.

I absolutely realise this is the most mundane post I could make Grin but I HATE waiting (this does not bode well for going over my due date).

Oh well a bit of HUTH and then I'll call him again.

MamaALaMode · 02/11/2011 10:29

pamsco i own & run a property development company (when not teaching yoga & selling clothes....erm, or having a baby!!) - & the biggest headache is getting the guys to turn up when they say they will - they are worse than a bunch of teenage girls when it comes to being flakey about timings!! you have my sympathy. i have found the offer of bacon butties & strong Earl Grey Tea (no builders' brew for London builders these days!) usually works to get guys to site first thing, though if yours has been & gone, (& not hung around ringing the bell for a bit, 'cos at that time he damn well knew you'd probably be in the shower..) then it doesn't bode well for a visit today.... hope i'm wrong! x

MamaALaMode · 02/11/2011 10:31

congratulations ali & kate - such lovely news! xx

voodoomunkee · 02/11/2011 10:33

I'm impatient too Pam, can't stand being late or lateness in general. Also would be frustrated by the fact you were prepared for a time and then he came at a different time!
Mama earl grey! Hahaha! Here it's builders tea or you would be shunned lol.
I haven't seen this HUTH Pam. All is good.

MamaALaMode · 02/11/2011 10:36

voodoo - seriously!! i've had to break up a heated discussion about whose spoon was whose in recent times!! when i was first on sites in the late 90s, the guys used to stir the 17 sugars they put in their brew with bic biros or the opposite end of the paint stick!!! everyone's "metro," these days! :)

PamSco · 02/11/2011 10:46

He's such a good guy and helped me out loads selling my flat last year I'll be patient just such a shock he was early! There are other issues at the mo. The new kitchen I got recently involved installing a new gas hob. This guy has asked me to follow up and get a Gas Safe cert for the install.

Now the bloke who did the install from the kichen company I suspect isn't Gas Safe registered as he brought a different guy to do the check. They are being very suspicious about handing over any paperwork. Gave me some bull about hobs being expemt - can't see that on the Gas Safe website. Grrr.

I may know nothing about gas installs but I'm no dope. Grrr. I just want to relax and get my TENS machine from the clutches of the PO but can't get out the house.

voodoomunkee · 02/11/2011 10:59

Crikey Mama. Really not how things go here!
Pam if this is stressing you out, could you work out what is an acceptable solution and tell the people stressing you. Then perhaps go and get your tens machine and arrange them to come back later perhaps?

PamSco · 02/11/2011 11:04

Can't say I am stressing out just get really impatient about waiting and being so english about not chasing him lol.

Just mundane dull chat from me really. I might hem a curtain to make my OH happy (a very long story) and kill some time, then chase.

MamaALaMode · 02/11/2011 11:18

it's ok for a guy to fit something, then get another guy to do the certificate for it (actually it can be considered best practice: less opportunity for self regulatory cock-ups.. especially if he brought the guy to the site to check it - i've had people try to cert something without even seeing the work!!!) - trouble is, a gas safe cert is dead easy to do at the time of installation, but can take up to 6 weeks if created in retrospect, due to fraud issues... I had it recently on one of the houses we were selling. complete nightmare, even with my usual legal man putting some pressure on! the thing is, if you are in fear of getting stressed, delayed - just mention you'll be getting the local authorities involved to check the work in view of not having been giving the relevant paperwork - you'll be surprised how immoveable timeframes suddenly get cleared... ALL kitchen (& bathroom,) work is subject to very stringent rules - don't let them tell you that you don't need paperwork - it's best practice to have everything checked annually in your home anyway (& no, i don't have the time to do that!! :) )
