OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
glowfrog · 14/10/2011 20:29

The only sleep trouble I'm having at the moment is the return of my 'restless legs' and cramps - usually in my left calf. I've had problems with that on and off in the past and had been fine for months but it's come back with a vengeance. I have to be careful when I stretch upon waking up in the morning, as it often sets off the cramp.

Still, at least there's one surefire way of dealing with the restless leg bit and go to sleep.... Grin Blush

Xavielli · 14/10/2011 20:43

I think when it comes to names you have to find something you are both comfortable with. My DP was adamant that ds would be a Conor, (no offence to anyone who does like the name but I really don't) and wouldn't hear of anything else. At about 30 weeks he realised that I wasn't going to cave and we finally found a name we both love. Sometimes I think men don't realise that in the majority of cases it will be us mothers who spend our time hollering the name in parks/supermarkets/playgrounds.

I fall asleep easily but wake for atleast an hour between 2 and 5am.

Ds2 jumps on my bump atleast 4 times a day and I forget I have a huge bump and keep walking into things. There is sooo much padding in there at the mo that I'm not too worried

gonerogue · 14/10/2011 21:21

Hi Ladies

Just checking in with you all.

Phlossie wow that is fantastic news. You both must be completely in a spin. It's lovely that he thought of you.

Sugar anothe rhere with a 30kg dog who thikns the bump is a step up to the couch. I have lots of wriggling though these days so not too worried about it.

Ditto what Xavielli says re baby names Kayano - DH and I thankfully are on the same page re baby names (except when he wanted to call a boy Rocky (our surname is Hill) ) but I think it really has to be one that both of you like. Can be a struggle though.

Oh and Pam - yes to DH having to winch me up from the couch these days.

To those who have had DC previously- have you noticed a difference in attitude form your DH/DP? DH was so excited and involved last time around but this time isn't as engaged.

Thanks so much to everyone for your lovely messages re my Dad. Have been spending a lot of time IRL at the minute sorting things out, talking to lots of people and helping my mam. All is well I think having bump and DD to think about and look after is keeping me from dwelling on things.

Hope you are all keeping well. Lovely to hear of the scans news. I am having a 3/4D scan tomorrow week so can't wait . Have to go private for that as next hospital scan isn't until the 15th November.

Sleeping ok these days but I know that can change. I went for a facial the other day and spent an hour on my back - big mistake as I had really bad sciatica for the rst of the weekend and could hardly walk. I have learnt my lesson from that.

Anyway better go and talk to DH for a while - I'll be back on soon enough.

woowa · 14/10/2011 21:27

I had a dreamgenii until 2 days ago, and left it in the hotel room on DH's interview. I've had MUCH better and more comfy sleep with a normal pillow and won't be asking them to send it to me!! (unlike the 2 swimming costumes I left wrapped in a towel!!). The bit that's supposed to support the back is just really annoying, and if you do want to turn onto your right side for a change, you have to sit up, take it out of between your legs, turn the whole thing over and lie down again. Witha normal pillow you can just turn over with it!! If you need to leap out of bed in the night (for a crying toddler, for example), you end up falling over it. I tried a couple of times using it for breastfeeding when DD was little but it's just awful because there is so much of it to negotiate round yourself. Buy a proper breastfeeding support for that, i would. Sorry, sugar80, i've read good reviews of it, but i'm glad it's gone!! If anyone else really thinks anything else on the market will beat it, i'd love to hear it, as i think the bigger the bump gets the more I might want something else.

Bumps are REALLY well protected by amniotic fluid, so toddlers jumping and car bumps will probably not hurt baby, but ime MWs don't mind worrying mums turning up at assessment units!

We still haven't really talked about names, i reckon it'll be born then we'll think about it! We want it to be from the bible and have a beautiful meaning or significance, so there aren't that many to choose from, so if we wait to see if it's boy or girl that'll cut out half the thinking time!!! I totally sympathise with the not wanting a popular name - we'd never choose the "ordinary" common bible names (common as in, there are lots, rather than a snobby thing), I just love unusual ones which are great conversation starters!!

NIght all

InnocentRedhead · 14/10/2011 22:47

Wow fairly busy night tonight, just got back from work so I thought I would have a catch up.

RE the toilet issue. I thought it was a bug after this morning because it disappeared but tonight has come back with a vengeance, not sure why though. (btw, I have never had diarohea (sp) before so don't really know what the full symptoms are like. Probably just hormones.

Movement wise, being feeling a lot of wriggles. I don't get big powerful kicks like some of you do, due to anterior placenta, I think it will be a godsend later on! except when he is lying in his favourite place and i get kicks at the bottom. I can feel definite awake and asleep cycles now, and definitely after food.

everyone on about things landing on their bump. Baby is definitely well protected but if you feel you need to see a MW, JUST GO they won't mind. I am going to weekly drop ins now because of just opening up on how i feel and it is helping much! They will have heard EVERYTHING and nothing is too small.

Kayano I hope you are feeling better now though, get some rest and see how you feel in the morning.

Xavelli I am exactly the same as you with sleep!! I go to sleep so easily anytime between 9 and 11 (depending on work) and I generally wake up for an hour between 2 and 5, Kind of annoying but used to it now.

Namewise, DP has tried speaking to me about them, I hate EVERYTHING anyone suggests. Think it is the hormones. I have told close family and friends to write lists of 10 names they like, submit them and we will decide. And it will probably be NO to all of them anyway! I can't stop thinking of girls names though!

I NEED TO STOP WRITING ESSAYS!!

21+6/22+5 I think!

phlossie · 15/10/2011 09:09

Stick to your guns with names, Kayano. Squigglet made me laugh a lot - maybe no need to be quite so stubborn, but ime, DPs are so bowled over by the giving birth thing that they often give in to you! For DC1 for a boy, my DH wanted Oscar and I wanted Rufus. After he was born the midwife asked what I wanted to call him and I said 'Rufus Henry' and then I was like 'ooh - is that ok?' to DH and was just, like, 'lovely...' (I had been quite scary in labour, tb fair!) With DC2, DH wanted Beatrice, but I loved Betty and we agreed that Betty was a good nn for Beatrice. So there has to be a bit of give and take.

I too love biblical names, woowa, especially Old Testament. I'm a firm aetheist so not as well versed on them as I'm sure you are, but I love Ezra, Aquila and Asher (which means blessed), Felix and Tobias.

My mum's been making some insane suggestions... Merlin, for example [hhmm] (seems like the best emoticon for the name!)

Sugar80 · 15/10/2011 11:11

Thank you all for the reassurance about bump getting jumped on. The good news is..... I CAN FEEL MOVEMENT!!!!! Thought I could on Thurs night but wasn't sure, then got the same thing last night, and definite prods while watching the rugby just now! Think I might have missed the fluttering stage as I seem to be getting gentle pokes!

woowa thanks for the pillow advice. I won't be wasting my money then, and will dig out some more normal pillows. Sounds like it

Finally, I think we have a name. Phoebe. DP nearly set up her email account last night but I talked him out of it incase she doesn't look like a Phoebe on arrival!!

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 15/10/2011 11:35

Ladies, I have actually found a delicious nonalcoholic drink! Marks & Sparks have introduced 2 "brewsoft" drinks which are made with malt and hops for flavour. They come in 2 flavours - apple or elderflower. I wondered if the apple one would be like a non-alky cider, but they're much more like an apple/elderflower version of frambrozen or kriek. I don't like beer other than fruit beer and these are delicious - much less sickly sweet than all the sparkling cordials I drank in my last pregnancy. Recommended!

Sorry for lack of action on the thread front recently, although you guys have been making up for my lack of chat Grin. Just been struggling through with the nausea and exhaustion and thinking I might take mat leave earlier than planned.

Kayano · 15/10/2011 11:40

Wicket I will get some today Grin thanks for the rec!

louby86 · 15/10/2011 12:45

Glad your feeling lots of movement now sugar

Thanks wicket I'll have a look for that next time I pop in.

We've finally decided on a name, and DH even came back from shopping today for the letters on her bedroom wall! We're going to call her Sienna, just haven't decided on a middle name yet.

Not really sure when I'm going to start my maternity leave, I have a sort of active job, have an office but my time in it is limited, the joys of working in retail. When are other people thinking of starting their leave?

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 15/10/2011 13:14

I looove the name Sienna, but our surname is Miller... Envy

m1nn1em0u5e · 15/10/2011 13:20

Im finishing 9th December! 7 weeks before my due date, although I dont actually start my Maternity leave until my due date, I have got lots of annual leave to use up! Can't wait!

Had a normal gtt test!....so relieved im not diabetic!....

Did my OU exam yesterday, 3 hours, think it went ok, the next big event is the birth!...lol

Sugar80 · 15/10/2011 13:26

Sienna's lovely.

I'm planning on my last day being 10th Feb, as baby isn't due until 26th. I want to work as long as I can so I can get more time off after she's born. Hopefully, this way I should get paid up until December 2012, then go back to work in 2013! I've got a mainly desk job, with a bit of travelling around to see clients, but it is fairly stressful, so I'll need to try to delegate as much as poss, and may try to fix up a day a week working from home after Christmas.

diedandgonetodevon · 15/10/2011 14:08

Glad you're feeling movement Sugar. I sat here on the sofa being very lazy and the fidgetty one is kicking against the cushion I'm leaning on. 'Tis a very strange feeling. It keeps making me jump and squeak- the dog is looking at me like I've finally lost it totally!

Sienna's a lovely name Looby. Really like that one.
We have a definite girls name picked now (although no middle names yet) and a 'possible' boys one that we both like but aren't totally crazy about. That's quite good progress as when we were expecting DS we could only come up with one boys name in the whole world we both really loved, although my mother's reaction when we told her was far from overwhelming so we think this time we won't tell anyone until Fidget arrives as no one tells you they don't like what you have called your squishy new bundle, do they!! Grin

23+2 (how did that happen??)

babycarmen · 15/10/2011 16:13

Sienna is a lovely name :) DP is convinced ours will be called Halle if its a girl and will not change his mind, i refuse to even think about names yet though, its too stressful. When we know the sex for sure (2 more weeks!) then il maybe think about it :)
We wont be telling anyone the decided name until he/she is here though..apart from you ladies of course! :)

DD is away at my mums for the weekend so im being very lazy Grin

Midwife next week, feels like its been ages since i was last there. Is anyone worried about early labour? Its all i can think about and i know its very unlikely to happen but im so scared about my waters breaking any day. My only real concern i should have is my placenta deciding not to fail again. Im sure everything will be fine, im always worrying about something!

23+5 and a bump pic is up!! :)

melliebobs · 15/10/2011 17:31

'Ello 'Ello 'Ello! So much to catch up on from a 2 week absence so sorry for no personals! Had a great hollibobs, did lots of walking (including a 7 mile walk up what felt like a mountain that resulted in a hormonal strop and tears!) and broke many pregnancy rules. Yes i had TWO that's right TWO lager shandies in the 4 days i was away. The cottage I stopped in had it's own hot tub and yes i went in it. THREE times. I went for a pub tea and had the best surf and turf and yes i had my steak MEDIUM and it was mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm AND i had a mum to be all over aromatherapy massage. It was nice but don't think i can do 'switched off an relaxed'. And in spite of all that Pip is doing well and wriggling like a lil wriggler. DH got to feel it for the first time the other night. Made him cry. Bless! Just researched 3d/4d/gender scans. That's getting booked on monday. Pip is going to be outed!

PamBeesly · 15/10/2011 17:55

Hi Everyone!

Louby Sienna is gorgeous and (where I live at least) very unique.

M1nn1e well done on the exam :)

Sugar Phoebe is really cute and always reminds me of Phoebe from Friends

Today is our first anniversary and I'm going for dinner tonight, I'm so excited about it, I haven't been out since my positive result. I love the restaurant but I always ordered the cheese and meat plate to start (share with DH) but I can't have it now (soft cheese and cured meat), also there wine list is to die for but I'll be sticking with Fanta or alcohol free beer if they have it.
I've no aches or pains today, my stomach is really massive now, some days its smaller though, has anyone had this?

PamBeesly · 15/10/2011 17:56

melliebobs medium steak...drool Grin

louby86 · 15/10/2011 18:22

Thanks for the lovely comments ladies Smile

Sounds like you had a lovely holiday mellie

Glad you're exam went well m1nn1e

I love the name Phoebe sugar DH has a little girl called Phoebe on his side of the family and she's gorgeous!

louby86 · 15/10/2011 18:24

And yes babycarmen I'm with you on the worrying about labour. To the point where I've been thinking when or if I need to start carrying my hospital notes around with me Blush irrational I know! Made a list of questions for the next visit to the midwife already, I hope I don't drive her mad. To be fair I've not really asked her anything so far though I don't think ...

Kayano · 15/10/2011 18:44

God Louby I am so scared about labour and needles I have been referred to a psychologist and a hypnotherapist.
I have had ongoing needle phobia since the age of 7 and cried for hours before I got my initial bloods taken.

I've just found out I need the anti D injections in a few weeks and I am getting so hysterical thinking about them DH has gotten special Leave from work to come

We work in same place but different departments so they have let him treat it like a proper midwife appointment or scan and have the whole morning off.

Thank God
Sad

I want a water birth and if anyone suggests I get an epidural on the day I will drop kick them.

Have to have the hypnotherapy and psychology sessions to help me deal/ cope should I need an emergency CS or needles/ drips etc without going all psycho bitch on them

QueenFee · 15/10/2011 19:18

Dh was interested in no 1 sort of interested in no 2 tried to be interested in no 3 and very interested in no 4 work that out!
Woowa my nephew is Levi and at first I was Hmm but now I love it.
My cousin has just called her baby Sienna such a pretty name. I like Phoebe but as my name is Fiona it just doesn't work!

We are still really struggling with boys names and now i'm starting to doubt our girls name which I loved ahhhh stoopid hormones.

babycarmen · 15/10/2011 20:00

mellie glad you had a nice holiday and enjoyed yourself! Very jealous of the hot tub and massage!

louby i should probably get thinking of what i want to ask.. i need to start writing it down, i always forget when im there!

Dont know if anyones mentioned this but anyone having cravings? Ive been craving junk - cakes and chocolate which is not good, im starting to gain so much weight especially on my hips and thighs :( and obviously, my belly.

woowa · 15/10/2011 20:33

Innocent, sorry but nothing, not even an anterior placenta, will stop you feeling the massive kicks of an 8-9 month gestation baby :) Although it's uncomfortable I do love the wriggling!!! my clothes were moving about today on my belly as it kicked. cool! Oh, and, although it's CLEARLY not what is happening to you now, watch out for diarrhoea around your due date as it can be one of the first signs of labour. I had a bout, and contractions started about 30 mins later!!

I find it bizarre that people suggest names, or ask to know your ideas, but i think we've said this on here before that people have different opinions on that. When pg with DD my MIL said "i love the name Ruth." I think it was a big hint. I just said "it isn't going to be called Ruth" and she has never done that again. My parents know me better than to suugest names!!! (btw i like the name ruth)

babycarmen, what happened with your placenta before? Did you read above (probably not given the length of this thread!) that I have arterial notching? That means my placenta could fail leading to early labour, so my notes come almost everywhere and I'm kind of resigned to an early baby now. hopefully not too early.

pam, i've had rare steak, blue cheese, cured meats during this pg. And wine. And the day I found out abouit the dodgy arteries thing, DH brought me a stiff Amaretto liquer!! I had half. I wouldn't worry about any of them!! (although i did draw the line at the VERY ripe brie in the fridge!). Happy Anniversary, i hope you enjoyed it whatevr you ate.

I am completely pooped today. Been at a seminar at church most of the day and it's worn me out. Add to that a broken oven (in the middle of the roast cooking last night) and having to adapt every item of food planned for the weekend to hob/microwave/grill, and a very busy sunday tomorrow, and you get one pooped pregnant person. SO, goodnight!

24+4

QueenFee · 15/10/2011 20:42
