It's two days earlier Grin well my DS was 7lb 9oz this one is 3 mm smaller and the NT measurement is quite a bit smaller to. I was expecting this baby to be bigger but maybe it's going to be smaller! It's just going to remain " little bean" until birth and then we will find out of its a willow or an isaac Grin

Dysgu · 20/08/2012 21:36

Lovely names something

WingDefence · 20/08/2012 21:37

You can get it at any time (or not at all) in the first trimester can't you? I'm not sure, I'll have to consult babycentre.co.uk Confused

By the way, I had a great time when I should have been working one day last week where I re-signed up to all the baby sites. I've always found the babycentre weekly emails very good (although I wouldn't touch their forums with a bargepole) and the supermarkets have baby groups too for offers etc.

Also the main baby food companies and formula companies. Even if you plants purée all your own food when weaning and never even buy a bottle, the info from those companies too can be good.

Right, must go to bed. Up at 5:30 in the morning to head down to London for important meetings. Goodness knows how I'll stay awake!

WingDefence · 20/08/2012 21:39

*plan to

fryingpantoface · 20/08/2012 21:59

Hi practising I'm due 27 April, so we are more or less gonna pop at the same time!

Morning sickness wise, I'm suffering from it now. It's more of an all day kinda thing at the moment.

WingDefence · 21/08/2012 06:33

Wow Frying I can't believe that's one month after my due date - doesn't time fly when you're having fun being sick pregnant?!

Well I'm sitting in the car park of the city station eating a banana before I go to catch the 6:56 to London. I'm so very tired and I have two important government meetings today. All I want to do is lay down!

I have reading of papers to do on the journey but I am goin to try to do it quickly and then sleeeeeeeep.

Hope you all have fab days :)

mandasand · 21/08/2012 07:52

Hello ladies! I'm 12 weeks today! Feels like a good moment to celebrate but both DH and I are getting really anxious about the scan on Saturday. We so desperately want everything to be okay, but age is against us and there's a higher risk of everything with multiple pregnancies. Urgggghhhhhh, nervous-making. Even DH admits to being worried and usually he's so philosophical and scientific about things. Please keep your fingers crossed for us!

Hope everyone has a great day, and good luck getting through your London meetings, wing! (PS I won't mentioned footie again!!!)

WingDefence · 21/08/2012 08:01

Congrats on getting to 12 weeks Manda!! (And no, please don't mention the bloomin footy grr...)

I'm sure it's unusual to have a scan on a Saturday? Your NHS trust is obviously good for having appts at patient-friendly times.

mandasand · 21/08/2012 09:25

Yes, I thought so too about the Sat appt. It's great as it means that DH doesn't have to take a half day off work (takes him 1.5 hours to get in so it's always a half day if he needs to do anything in Oxford). I've just lost an hour reading baby books - I'm obsessed!!! Better crack on!

tiredteddy · 21/08/2012 11:42

Yay for sat and a scan manda that's great! I'm looking forward to hearing how that goes!

How's everyone else?

I have my very best friend and her daughter visiting so we are heading out to the park later. Smile

fryingpantoface · 21/08/2012 14:22

That's brilliant! Roll on Saturday

I'm waiting for my mom and dad to come over, my dad leaves to go back home (middle east) on Friday so this will be the first and last time I see him for a while. So we're telling him the news. My mom and brother and sister go back on wed. It's gone crazy fast

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 21/08/2012 14:49

Hello all!

Just a quick post as I am currently trying to write the intro to my thesis (which if all goes according to plan baby-wise I will definitely need to be well on the way with by next April!

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 21/08/2012 14:51

Just realised that there may be people on here who were not on JSing...I should probably introduce myself.

Name: ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs
Lives: West Yorkshire
DCs: DS (nearly 6) and DD (2.5)
BFP date: 21/08/2012
Hopefully having a baby sometime around April 2013!

somethingwittynot · 21/08/2012 15:26

Thanks for the name compliments :)

Just seen my consultant and shes very keen for me to have a VBAC. She does induce VBACS If needed but prefers to just pop the waters. There will be scans at 20 26 32 36 weeks if my Gtt (fat) test is normal. If not there will be more. I will be having my bo and urine checked every 2 weeks from 26 weeks and every week from 34. I have even put on pregaday for iron and asparin to make there is a good blood flow through the placenta and I will be referred to the anaesthetist after 20 weeks

mandasand · 21/08/2012 15:39

Guinea well done that girl on BFP!!! Just today too?! Fab! So excited for the recent flurry of success in the JSing department!

If you're writing the intro to your PhD thesis it sounds like you are reasonably along with it? What is/was your schedule for that? If it helps, I'm currently turning thesis into a book, with end-of-month deadline and I want to get another (which is â…” written) to press before twins arrive in Feb. Am like a mad person + pregnancy hormones! Poor long-suffering DH is all I can say! So, we can be writing buddies if you like!

Looks like you're getting lots of excellent medical care, something - great news!

mandasand · 21/08/2012 15:40

â…” is supposed to read two-thirds!

WingDefence · 21/08/2012 16:41

Woo hoo Guinea you found us! And now there is no excuse for me to buy some fab Pampered Chef stuff from you once that new catalogue is out Grin

What a mad run of BFPs there has been over on the JSing thread! Gosh I hope it continues.

Something what do you think about having a VBAC?

Well I'm on the train home from my meetings scoffing a Millies cookie They were interesting and well worth me coming down but trying to not look pregnant was difficult. I couldn't put my hands under my bump in the meetings as that made me look really pg but putting them on my belly just made me feel really uncomfortable.

And I realise that I need to get one of those Baby on Board TFL badges next time!!!

Have to get some work done now but then I will allow myself a teeny tiny snooze...

WingDefence · 21/08/2012 16:43

I meant no excuse not to buy something Guinea. Doh!

somethingwittynot · 21/08/2012 18:24

Oh I'm all for VBAC hoping to avoid a section at all costs

ICompletelyKnowAboutGuineaPigs · 21/08/2012 22:10

Thanks for the congrats! Manda I'm in my 3rd (final!) Year and really want to. finish on time....let's be writing buddies!!

Wing I need to send you a catalogue, I've got some now and they are lovely and shiny!!

Got a midwife booking- in appointment on Thursday. OH came home from swimming this evening with flowers. :)

How's everyone else's DHs?

Dysgu · 21/08/2012 22:22

Congrats Guinea the Jsing thread is doing really well this month and here's hoping that the next week will work for some more people too.

Any chance I could PM you my address and you could send me a pampered chef catalogue, please? We did a house swap earlier this month and there was LOTS of stuff in the kitchen with Pampered Chef on it - we were very jealous but have not heard of it over here (am on the Isle of Wight).

Hope your scan goes well on Saturday Mandasand I would love to get a Saturday scan and am wondering whether they do them here - we only have the one hospital so no choice. DP has to take a whole day off or arrange to work from home unless we can get a scan for before 9.30am - he commutes to the mainland and has to catch the 10.15am boat to stand a chance of getting in for the afternoon!

Dysgu · 21/08/2012 22:28

Oh and Guinea you asked about OHs. Mine is great - he has been trying to get home early as much as possible and is generally great at taking over with the DDs so I can have a rest/nap.

With regards to the baby, he knows about it but I am not sure it has become real yet - although I think it is harder for him until he actually sees it on a screen. His DDad is coming over to visit on Monday and I am wondering whether he is going to mention about the baby. I think I was about 6 months gone with DD1 before he mentioned my first pregnancy, which didn't give them much time to get used to the idea as DD1 arrived when I was 7 months pregnant!

I can't remember when we told people last time - I keep a journal for each DD so I might look it up...

Dysgu · 21/08/2012 23:53

Sorry - me again - I am copying/pasting this from another thread I am on. Sorry if you are on that thread too but I just want to see what different people think...

I have just been thinking about this and DP has already gone to bed and will be asleep by now.

When would you consider telling older DCs about a pregnancy? Right now I am aware of telling DDs (who are 5 and 3) that they have to be careful around my tummy and boobs - they have a habit of lying next to me and then using their elbows to push themselves up, usually by pressing on me! Obviously, I haven't told them why this is particularly important/painful right now.
I am also very tired so hand them straight over to DP when he gets in. We usually are very hot on eating dinner as a family but have not done that these past few days as I head off (to sleep or to relax in a bath) as soon as he gets in. This is not like me...

Then I think we are going to be telling the grandparents in the next few days and probably other close family. I will ask that no one says anything on facebook for the time being as I don't think we want to be telling everyone. However, it feels a bit odd to be telling other people when our own DDs won't know.

I also think that DD1 (who is actually 6 in less than 3 weeks) would love to know that I am growing a baby - DD2 would love it too but won't understand so much. I hope they will both be happy with the idea. However, I know that if we told them then we couldn't really ask them not to say anything but they wouldn't really understand why not, IYSWIM.

Thoughts???

tiredteddy · 22/08/2012 00:05

Hi dysgu to answer your last question I'll tell you what I did and see if that helps. My DS's are 8 and nearly 5 and I waited until I'd had the 12 weeks scan and knew that everything was looking ok. We told them and showed the scan photo and they were thrilled. I know it's hard not telling them, I was also out of character. I was extremely tired. Feeling and being sick, having naps and such like that was unusual. We just downplayed as much ad possible blaming tiredness/ headache/ poorly and tried to keep it normal for them. Afterwards I did say that's why I'd been do tired etc and now they don't mind at all. There's no right or wrong way I just wanted the safety of the scan before we told. not sure what others have done or are planning to do. In fact I can't always remember who has dc yet or not. Maybe we should start a stats lust over here with weeks, scan date, due date, dc etc what do you think?

Practisingparent · 22/08/2012 07:10

tired thats a great idea, its very confusing keeping up with where everyone is at.

Dysgu I guess Id wait till after the scan with older kids, less time to wait, and they will probably be able to make more sense of it once you are actually growing a noticeable bump. I however have been mentioning it to 18 month dd, but she doesnt have a clue what Im talking about, thinks it s a game showing and pointing to our bellies!

guinea Can I be in on the pampered chef catalogue? Many congrats btw!!!

frying I assumed your due date was just before me! However means nothing, having been induced 2 weeks post due date last time, Im mentally prepared for a may birth, so you could still get there before me!

something that is a long list of care they are giving you, are you on the VIP list? Was your C sec bad last time, that you want to go for VBAC?

wing, do those badges really help? would you mind broadcasting to everyone, that you are expecting? even before you have told all your friends?

DH is great, very chipper, but been staying out a work at bit longer recently, (BFP money meltdown probably) we will be absolutely fine tho!
