I know what you mean about something that tiny. But when I held the baby outfits onto me, they didn't seem that tiny at all!! Admittedly they were 0-3, not newborn. I'm only 5'3 but DH is 6'4 and 18.5 stone rugby player. So my little body must make space for his offspring! I'm sure we will see much bump shifting in that case!

Have you put pics of your bump on facebook? A friend has put one up of her at 30weeks. Top pulled up and bump right there. Found it a little personal for FB. Hmm

CuriosityCola · 12/11/2011 14:32

He isn't sure about the tens machine? I put my dh in charge of ensuring he knew how to use it and he helped up and lower the settings. He also did all the timing of the contractions. Good to keep them busy Grin

nickelbabe · 12/11/2011 15:27

I've put pics of my bump on FB, but fully clothed.
It's easy to see the way the bump changes.

i wouldn't do it with a bare belly Shock

PrincessBakedBean · 12/11/2011 16:49

No! He wouldn't know a tens machine from a tennis racket! And is wise enough not to have opinions about the labour! It's the NCT classes...money and he hates meeting new people.

nickelbabe · 12/11/2011 16:59

he would be wise not to have an opinion on the tens machine - unless he's going to go through the labour, he really shouldn't.

It's definitely worth a go - it feels weird to start with, but it's a good feeling.
everyone I know who's used one said that it really helped them cope wth the pain.
and if it stops you having to have further pain killers, then it can only be good.

On blackberry feeding DS so double post it is again!

Re the clothes, I had no idea what size a newborn would be, so ended up buying loads of 3-6 mth ones as I was convinced he'd be huge, a few 0-3 and no newborn... I was amazed when an 8lb 11oz baby looked swamped in newborn clothes, never mind the 0-3!

Ahh I remember the bum sticking out days, gives you something to pat! [Wink] DS is continually stretching so he must have been v cramped in there!

Great news ytou have your scan date princess!

First morning off sick. Sad Envy

Was sick most of yesterday and this morning I was curled up on the bathroom floor. Managed some Sprite and ryvita, but feel shakey.

So, told most people at church yesterday. Everyone was so pleased for us. Found out another friend is 13 weeks. She'd kept it quiet til then. So I felt a bit uncool blurting it out at 7 weeks. Never mind. Things have been strained with her in the past (she tends yo blow hot and cold as a friend...she was my bridesmaid, but almost didn't invite me to her own wedding!) so I'll just see how it goes being bump buddies.

How are other folks today? X

nickelbabe · 14/11/2011 11:24

thanks katee - that's useful info. Sounds like they will last a while then.
I know what you mean about the bum being pattable!! It does make me laugh.

Isbn has been moving around like crazy this morning.

sorry you're feeling sick Princess
I feel rather crap today myself, just really grotty and icky. :(

I blurted mine out at church as soon as I found out - It must have been about 4 weeks officially( from last period), but I measured it from ovulation, so I was 2 weeks in my head.
It was weird - I only told people because we had a confirmation service and our old priest (who'd moved away) was there, and I had to tell her, so of course everyone else overheard.

Morning everyone!

Hope you feel better today princess. Just when you thought the sickness was easing up it came back with a vengeance!

I hope you are okay too nickel. If I remember correctly, the final 4 wks or so were just a constant stream of aches, pains, and feeling crap!!Grin

Day 14 for me today on the big quit, and I haven't used any NRT since Friday evening, so it should all be out of my system now. We're all feeling a bit choked up here though, and DS is away on a school trip today, so I hope he's okay.

nickelbabe · 15/11/2011 10:41

i've started a thread on my latest problem Blush

I've not got any aches and pains - although Isbn's movements are bloody massive! It's just bursting out of the belly cos it's got no room! Shock
feeling crap though, yes. (that might be cos of the iron and the lack of rest!)

and I'm being moaned at to rest, then being told off for low HB, so I'm obsessing over that - MW said I need to switch off, but I can't shut my brain down. :(
Well done! TWO WHOLE WEEKS! that's absolutely brilliant! Grin

OP posts:
BamBam21 · 15/11/2011 10:57

Oh nickel I have absolutely no suggestions for your iron problem I'm afraid. It must be hard not being able to rest as much as you should. Hopefully Isbn will make an appearance soon, and then you'll get back to your normal self.Smile

Thanks for the congratulations!Grin The weekend was absolute hell, but I seem to have come through to the other side and feel okay, with just the odd craving.Smile

nickelbabe · 15/11/2011 11:01

yeah, loads of rest planned after the birth Grin

OP posts:
BamBam21 · 15/11/2011 11:25

Grin Maybe not, I suppose, but at least your blood count and so on should get back to normal, and you won't have a small person trying to burst out of your belly!Grin

I have my 28 wk appointment on Friday, and will be getting my thyroxine level checked again. I think it will maybe need to get increased again, as I just have felt a wee bit out of sorts. It feels like ages since I was last up!

nickelbabe · 15/11/2011 12:19

good luck. :)

OP posts:
nickelbabe · 15/11/2011 13:12

looks like we might have to buy a TeNS machine after all.
We've been trying to get some 4-pads for the one we've got, and we can't - this one will only take 2 pads. (thought it might be able to take a splitter, but apparently not)

:(
I was hoping that we didn't need to spend any extra money.

OP posts:
PrincessBakedBean · 15/11/2011 21:03

Oh Nickel - have the one offered from Curiosity. She offered to post it to me, but you need it first! I'm not sure if she has uncovered it yet, but I'm sure she'll be only too pleased to send it your way instead.

Really sorry to hear things are so tough for you at the moment. It's that thing where people tell you to "not stress out" like you've got much control over that! Remind me where your parents are based? I hope that all the good advice from the iron thread helps and you are able to rest whenever you can. Remember that church isn't compulsory either. This is from another regular-every-Sunday-involved-in-everything church goer. It may be wiser for you to sleep in on that precious day off. It may do your baby more good than dashing off to church. You can always ask your DH to take notes for you and put on a worship CD in your room.

Well done Bam on 2 weeks. Keep plugging away at it and soon it'll be 2 months!

I'm 8 weeks tomorrow. Heard this week of two friends who miscarried at 7 weeks, so will psycologically be pleased to be out of that zone. MW appt on Thursday - really looking forward to it. Might make it a bit more real!

Was back at work today. Just about coped, but collapsed when I got in. Eating what I can when I can, but it just makes me shakey and scared thinking about what I'll manage to eat and what will set me off. I suggested again to my (other) boss (the husband this time, it was the wife last time) that I'd appreciate having a few more breaks. He said that if we really felt I needed it, he was sure we could change the appointments so I started work earlier and finished later to fit a break in. Oh, gee, thanks for that! Their attitude is really p**ing me off. They are friends as well, and think they're so good to their staff. But actually they are v self centred. I wish they would work with me, cos otherwise I'll just call in sick. Grr... Planning on writing a formal letter informning them of my pregnancy and requesting a risk assessment.

PrincessBakedBean · 15/11/2011 21:07

Oh, meant to mention. For the MW appt, she wants my current weight. Weighed in this morning and am almost 1/2 stone less than when I fell pregnant. Do you think this is a problem? It's cos of the sickness. I did have a bit to lose (BMI was about 26.5 and is now 25.5). Ta.

MightilyOats · 16/11/2011 04:42

Weight loss shouldn't be a problem princess, I'm similar bmi and lost a fair bit in first trimester - no booze and small regular meals did it for me. Meant I only put on stone and a half later on. Still had a relatively big baby!

Nickel, are you taking pregnacare or something similar? Spatone tastes revolting, but is great for raising iron levels quickly, I can send you some sachets of it if you like as I've got some left over?

Bam, you're doing fantastically well! :)

nickelbabe · 16/11/2011 11:30

ooh, Princess - you really are!
I forgot about that one!
Then I can pass it on to you when it's your turn.
I'll see if she's still offering it.
:)

I've just PMd her. :) :)

Parents are in Carlton, Nottingham. no, they're not, they're Netherfield now! Blush

yeah, church is compulsory, unfortunately. :(

Still, had a good lie-in this morning.
well, after a bad night's sleep - we were advised to put a plastic sheet under our sheet in case my waters broke, but oh my god! how sweaty and horrid all night! so when DH got up for work, I took it off. We'll just have to clean the mattress.
My blood pressure at the midwife yesterday was back down - now it's at 100/60 (it was 110/60, then it went up to 120/70, and now it's down to 100/60. still sure it's fine - she didn't say anything neg about it)
Also, my fundal height is now 37, which a few weeks ago it was a little above the norm (i know it's all very inaccurate, so I'm not worried!)
heartbeat's fine, it's just my iron they're worrying about.

still, I think i can cope with it all, and I'm feeling a bit less tired.
(apart from the sheet, I was kept awake by worrying why the order for gruffalo toys hasn't arrived yet - i have to post them off to the bloke who's bought them to arrive before 25th november! I did receive the invoice this morning, stating despatched yesterday, so fingers crossed)

OP posts:
nickelbabe · 16/11/2011 11:37

oh, back to church, sorry
If i have a service off, everyone will start badgering us about if the baby has arrived, if i'm feeling well, if something has gone wrong etc etc! that'll be more stressful than going! Grin
plus, I think Isbn really enjoys the services (and I do sit down when I need to instead of standing through all the standing-up bits)

OP posts:
nickelbabe · 16/11/2011 11:39

the weight loss sounds good, actually.
if your BMI was that high, then you did have some to lose. It shows that you are getting into a healthy shape for the baby. :)

OP posts:
nickelbabe · 16/11/2011 11:42

Mightily (sorry, i'm reading bits then commenting ,so this all looks really disjointed!) I've got some pregnancy tablets, that should see me through.
I got DH to buy some Spatone - i poured it into my juice and I couldn't taste it at all. (it was a bit glass though, so that's maybe why!)

remember at the beginning of pregnancy and everyone tells you that you get a metallic taste in your mouth? well, I never got that. I put it down to my being a materials scientist and actually having had metal in my mouth, so that's what I imagine by metallic taste, and nothing I've tasted is like that! Grin

OP posts:
nickelbabe · 16/11/2011 11:42

big glass [doh]

Ah shame, I was hoping to be able to offload them rather than keep looking at them in the kitchen and going bleugh! Wink

Finally got DS to go to sleep half an hour ago... he does look sweet with his arms strewn out to the sides, totally relaxed. He keeps wriggling over to me in bed at night, so I wake up to find I've only got about 6 inches to sleep in!
