CHEEPS · 17/01/2006 12:17

Sorry for the bad spelling and punctuation too! hehe

Arabica · 17/01/2006 13:00

Crikey CHEEPS, I am only a year younger than your mum!!!!!

Arabica · 17/01/2006 13:01

Congratulations by the way!

CHEEPS · 17/01/2006 13:10

Thank you!
My mum is v.excited at the prospect of being a Nan, although im sure she would have liked to have been a bit older!! specially coz she looks very young! I do too though and when i had my early scan 2 handsome young docs asked me if i had taken my GSCE's yet and also what i wanted to do when i left school!!

Arabica · 17/01/2006 13:18

If she's 45 now, your mum must have also been 22 when she was pregnant with you, Cheeps! So you're following in her footsteps.

woops!

CHEEPS · 17/01/2006 13:20

Yes your right. She went on to have 6 of us though, so im not sure if i will follow her so precise!

Arabica · 17/01/2006 14:40

I was a crazy student at 22, I was rubbish at looking after myself, let alone a baby.

mojomummy · 17/01/2006 17:31

Hi, haven't posted for a while due to anxiety.

Pleased to say had a second scan today & saw this lovely little baby (11wks 5 days) bobbling around with a heart thudding

I'm almost 37 so am going to pay for the nuchal fold - any ideas on what an 'ideal' result would be ?

Also I'm confused /cross about the NHS Blood test. Apparently if I have a private scan I don't get the triple blood test ?

Any advice ref good odds or nuchal fold & NHS blood tests would be great

Arabica · 17/01/2006 17:55

info on tests
Hope this helps. It's unfair that some hospitals offer nuchal screening to all over 35 and others don't. Generally a nuchal result of 1 in 250 is the cut off point. If you score lower than this you'll probably be counselled about having a further test.
I'm dealing with all that tomorrow, please send your good luck vibes!

snic · 17/01/2006 18:04

cheeps, i wouldnt worry to much about telling your sisters im sure they will be thrilled. the best thing to do is keep them involved, let them feel the baby kick, take them shopping etc. I had to tell my 12 year old step daughter this weekend because we had a holiday to florida booked for august i thought she would be a bit gutted because she couldnt go (dd Is only 11 months) but she said she couldnt care less about the holiday if it means she gets another brother or sister.

Act · 17/01/2006 18:08

Good luck Arabica! hope you're feeling less crampy than the other day.

Mojomum: glad you had a good scan!
According to my preg. book (by a mum and prof of obstetrics) the NT scan has an 80% detection rate whereas the triple test has a 69% detection rate. So perhaps they don't want to do the blood test if you get the NT test as it is unlikley to tell you anything different?

Nbg · 17/01/2006 18:14

Hi everyone

Congratulations Cheepy!

Feling sorry for myself as I've got a UTI. Gp has prescribed me some AB's over the phone so dh has just gone to pick them up for me. Thought I felt a bit funny but at least I know why.

Re the bra's you were discussing futher down, I tried some on yesterday in a factory outlet shop that sells past season stock. I tried on a Playtex one which was amazingly comfortable and only £11 and a Berlei one at £7! I've deffo gone up a size but I'm going to wait a few more weeks if I can to see if I change much more.

Hope your all doing well

trix1 · 17/01/2006 19:03

Good Evening - Well I feel much better this evening only had ten minutes sleep on the sofa instead of the usual 2 hours. Now im worried becuase I feel ok, im ten weeks today. I phoned my consultant today and told him my concerns and he said to pop in tomorrow for a scan.

This constant worry is awful.

Congratulations Cheeps.

how are all the rest of you?

NBG where is that outlet?

Arabica · 17/01/2006 19:51

Last time my bust size increased rapidly in first 12 weeks then stayed the same until about 4 weeks before the birth when they sprouted to a J cup. Yes, J for juggernaut.
All the worry is awful, isn't it? I want to enjoy my pregnancy but keep feeling I don't want to invest too much emotion in case it doesn't work out. As if that would make me feel any better if there's bad news tomorrow.
Had a bit of a scare this afternoon. Took DS to the playground and had the worst stomach ache ever. Was even worried it was a m/c. But then realised it was in the wrong place. I must have eaten the wrong thing (jacket potato and beans with salad). Just about made it home (luckily DS didn't fly into a paddy about leaving playground) but was at a couple of points convinced I was about to poo my pants! Am not sure why I am telling you lot this...maybe I need to get out more!

katylou25 · 18/01/2006 09:41

Hi everyone

Gload to hear all the scans are going well. I too feel huge this time round - i'm only 8 weeks and already can't do my jeans up - am going to have to get my maternity clothes out of the loft at the weekend I think and see whats there. I am still feeling really really sick all the time, and am so tired. It's ds' first birthdya on sunday and we've got PIL coming up on sat and then a big party on sun dont no how im going to get through it - will just have to hide in the corner!!

Had MW round to do booking in yesterday and should get scan 1st week of feb so am counting down to that.

CHEEPS · 18/01/2006 09:54

Good Morning all!
Thanks v. much for your advice snic, will take that on board and your right, im sure they will be thrilled!
Am actually feeling okay this morning, it seems to be hitting me of an evening rather than all day like my first few weeks!! still cant face cooking though, so bf and i are back to my mums for dinner every night which isnt bad! haha
I am feeling the same as a few of us on this board - constantly worried when i feel okay, but i had a scan a week ago and everything was fine so that has put my mind at rest a little, and my main scan is on the 6th feb, so only 19 days away!! (worry is not going to help though i know!) not like im counting down the days or anything! i am just so excited!!

purpleturtle · 18/01/2006 10:39

Saw the doc yesterday, for about 5 mins. He'll refer me to the midwife team, and then all my ante-natal appointments bar the scan, obviously, will be home visits. Which is okay when the midwife is on time (hardly ever!)

I'm hoping to have the same midwife I had last time. Fingers crossed.

Here I sit in my dressing gown, due to feeling just slightly below par. Must go and do something - it might make me feel better. Just as well dh hasn't got a job yet LOL

Arabica · 18/01/2006 12:56

I have been 12-week scanned!! Phew, what a relief. All looked so good, I don't even need to have CVS testing unless I want it. We're choosing not to.
The consultant did my scan himself and said that the statistics we all (but particuarly those of us 35-plus) get so worked up about (such as, a risk of under 250 is high) aren't really worth worrying about--they're invented by 'someone in an office somewhere'! He said at my age the maximum my nuchal result could change was between a factor of 5 and 6. As mine went from 1 in 24 to 1 in 118 I think that was a pretty good result.
Good luck to everyone else scanning this week.
