Oh and figgy, I checked on the count-the-kicks thread and they link to a helpful article in babycentre about ways to encourage baby to move to reassure you:

www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/antenatalhealth/physicalhealth/babysmovements/#10

Hope you're being poked again v soon xxx

sevensevenseven · 03/09/2011 21:45

figgy I second trying to see someone tomorrow but in the meantime try not to worry (easier said than done I know). I had a lot less kicks than usual on Thursday, thankfully she started moving just as I was starting to get really worried. There's still room in there at the moment so chances are he's just turned and is kicking the placenta instead.

LittleMissFlustered · 03/09/2011 23:03

If you are worried, call someone. It's usually the kick up the rump for the baby, twice I've done it in the past only to have an internal volleyball session start >_< Quite embarrassing really, when I explained my concens and they hooked me up tot he monitor only to have it go mental for a solid half an hour. They never mind though. They rather you go in than not. I got to know the guys at my ADU really well with my firstGrin

I feel very few kicks, but the sonographer pointed out that (yet again) I have a placenta glued to the front of my womb so activity is going to feel minimal.

fusam · 04/09/2011 08:52

Just finished catching up. Had my second scan last week and we are having another DD!! Yay. Surprised as I sure it would be a boy as this pregnancy is completely different from my last. Relief mixed with a little bit of bitter sweet sadness as this is definitely my last, DH will be having the snip soon!

kri5ty · 04/09/2011 10:00

figgy have you spoke to anyone? I'd ring definitely, I'm sure baby is just having a rest though!

msbuggy its interesting you said that about yours loving water... ours does too, he has figured out how to get water out of taps and tries to jump in the bath/shower with us... I have always stopped him, only because I thought he would hate it when he was in there (and he would never let us dry him) but maybe I should just see what he does!
He also thinks he is a dog.. follows us around everywhere, greets us at the door, comes and gets me when the phone rings... oh and plays hide and seek!

oi I also thought it was a bit rubbish yesterday!

bemybaby how vocal are maines?

Back to pregnancy... I thought the nesting kicked in nearer the time? I can't stop cleaning, and its stressing me out as all I can see is things I need to do/ tidy / want to throw out!

kri5ty · 04/09/2011 10:01

Aww yay fusam glad everything is ok :o x x

sevensevenseven · 04/09/2011 10:06

Any kicks yet figgy?

Is anyone suffering with any general aches and pains? I injured my shoulder in February and it was almost better. I thought when my joints got looser the pain would go completely but it's got worse.

aethelfleda · 04/09/2011 10:07

Congrats fusam - I had exactly the same with DD2, was convinved she was a boy cos the pregnancy feelings were so different.... Nope!

Hope you're OK Figgy....

figgygal · 04/09/2011 10:10

Hello All
Baby is fine took til about 11 last night and half a bag of marshmallows (thought i would sugar him up) before got anything and then he boofed around for a while have felt him this morning already too. I had been in the pub all day watching footie and broke the fizz rule enjoying some diet bru and soda water and lime and i thought that all the fizz would have made him hyper but maybe all the yelling from the crowds scared him into submission and he just went to sleep for a while. Spent a lot of time in the loos wobbling my tum to try and get any reaction but nothing hence the panic. Its ridiculous how quickly you turn into a gibbering worrying crazy person isnt it. thanks for all the words of support.

Going to have to go see a physio about my wrist i think it is worse every day its now a constant ache/pain never expected anything like this.

LauraSmurf · 04/09/2011 10:47

So glad bump has been moving a little, such a relief.

My problem is exactly the opposite! I know everyone says contact someone if baby's movement changes. Well she has been going MENTAL since about 11 last night. Took me ages to go to sleep as she was flipping and kicking about. Then v disturbed sleep (not her so much as general hip / constipation pain) but when i did wake she was nearly always moving about.

She has settled a bit this morning, but I am feeling her a lot more than usual. Is she ok? Or is it just because I was (still am slightly) "backed up" and uncomfortable?

Crazy how we worry!

OiMissus · 04/09/2011 12:18

Hurrah figgy! glad to hear all is well. X

aethelfleda · 04/09/2011 12:54

Hi Laura- generally an active baby is a happy one, it's when they go quiet that we all worry! At this stage lots of them are doing baby aerobics as there's loads of room to move about- if your placenta is at the back (posterior) you may feel more movements than if it's at the front cushioning you from feeling baby's movements.

BeeMyBaby · 04/09/2011 14:34

kri5ty ours doesn't yowel at all (unlike the Norwegion forest), the only thing he does is purr and make a very cute chirping noise when he's being playful (kinda like 'purrrrr mew!') so not too noisy at all.

figgy really pleased you are getting movements, plus you were able to munch loads of marshmallows into the bargain, brilliant :)

kri5ty · 04/09/2011 15:13

ooo beemybaby i like them, but i dont know much about the breed. Ours has discovered his voice after 2 years... 5 am dragging me out of bed to come downstairs to stroke him on the rug!! he was chatting away very loudly for an hour this morning because i wouldnt get up haha

fusam · 04/09/2011 15:50

figgy glad to hear about the movements.

OiMissus · 04/09/2011 18:03

I discovered today that the spa where I go for the aquanatal class does a "sumptuous mother-to-be massage" for 1h30, for £68 - but it's half price to aquanatal people!! It shall be booked!! :)

msbuggywinkle · 04/09/2011 19:00

Evening! Back from the feminist conference, really really tired, but it was amazing. The DDs were very happy in the crèche tent, and this afternoon started a glitter fight with the PhD students who were running it...we are all covered in glitter!

My brain has been thoroughly stimulated, and now I want to go to sleep!

sevensevenseven · 04/09/2011 21:07

msbuggy sounds like the conference was great fun. Can I ask a question? If my baby is born before she's developed a strong suck reflex like DS was will I ever be able to bf or will I have to express?

LittleMissFlustered · 04/09/2011 21:07

Laura You can have Fybogel for the backed-upness. You can get it over the counter or your doctor will give you a prescription for a mahoosice catering size pack. It's not nice tasting, but it works and is safe:)

figgy I had issues with my wrists in my last pregnancy. They decided it was pregnancy related carpal tunnel, and told me it would go away as soon as baby was born. He's 4 now... Still get twinges >_< Hoping your problem is more conventional:)

Today I have been in a monumental arse with my bedroom. I have taken offence at it's status as the house dumping ground and went in armed with some loud shouty CDs and a roll of binliners. I have cleared about a third of the floorspace and have jammed my hall with stuff that needs to be tipped. Knackered though, and it made me forget lunch too, so I am ravenous!

KateM77 · 04/09/2011 22:07

Hi all. Had a good weekend at home, pottering about with DD and DH. DD is getting better and better with her walking. Hope you're all doing well.

Went back to work last week after a week off and think the bump must have put on a spurt as I got lots of comments from people in other departments and from the women who look after DD at nursery. Since I now seem to have some bumpage worth talking about I've taken some photos and added them :)

LittleMissFlustered · 04/09/2011 22:39

Glad your weekend was god. I am bumpless so sometimes get a little Envy when everyone gets their bump on... For about half an hour anyway, until I remember that if I was showing I would have some serious explaining to do to some peopleGrin Having extra padding comes in useful >_

sevensevenseven · 04/09/2011 22:59

Lovely bump Kate, and your DD is gorgeous.

LMF are you nesting too? Sounds like everyone has had a much more productive day than me, I've been pottering in the garden and playing trains with DS.

LittleMissFlustered · 05/09/2011 00:06

Don't knock playing trains seven it's an important part of the day. Right up there with a decent Brew and a slice of brown toast.

Not sure it's nesting alone. I get antsy at change of season and have a few days where I have to throw things away. Today I have filled no less that twelve bags with stuff to go. Including four duvets that are beyond even the local RSPCA mutt runs. Got to love kids, cats and the concept of dens.

Unfortunately, I usually have more stuff collected between the changes, so I never seem to get rid of it all >_

OiMissus · 05/09/2011 07:23

kate love the pic of your DD kissing your bump, and the comparing bumps pic! Aw!!!! Fantastic!
Nesting hasn't really set in for me yet. I'll have to start soon. I can't see us selling the house now and moving within 10-12 weeks, so we'll have to make some room in our bedroom for the crib. (Which means getting rid of a big chest of drawers - and finding a home for it's contents.)
I may even start tonight.

OiMissus · 05/09/2011 07:25

BTW - LMF and seven - what ARE you two doing up after 10pm?! I actually managed to stay up til about 10:30 myself last night, but it was a fight!
