Welcome to the new thread ladies!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
FairyBayleaf · 25/08/2011 18:56

Hi everyone!!

Haven't been on for ages - sorry about that!

To update you, had my 20 week scan at the end of July - a boy! Thinking he's a footballer by the amount of kicking going on, usually when I'm nice and relaxed, ready for sleep!

I've got a bit of a bump, but not a massive one - I still think I look fat rather than pregnant. Although I was secretly pleased when in the queue for Blackpool Pleasurebeach ( a sober hen-weekend = nightmare!!!) the guy giving out the tickets pointed at my belly and said 'you can't go on any rides!'.

How's everyone else?

FairyBayleaf · 25/08/2011 19:15

Oooh quick question for those more experienced than me...

Whenever I'm upright, walking about etc, after a bit my belly starts to ache underneath like baby is sitting heavy. Sometimes its more to one side than the other. Is this normal? Does it just mean I need to buy one of those belly bands for some extra support?

I'm just concerned that I'm back at work next week after the summer hols which will mean much more standing.

Any reassurance/advice??

OiMissus · 25/08/2011 19:15

darcies Angel Darcie will love and adore her new baby sibling! Don't worry! And visitors are well-trained these days - she'll get more presents than the baby. Everything will be fine.
Congrats to fairy - another boy on this thread! And certainly not looking fat if someone had the guts to assume you are pregnant. People daren't say anything normally, just in case.
Viewer no. 1 saw the house, loved it, and is now desperate to sell hers to put in an offer.
Viewer no. 2 did not turn up (how very rude!)
Viewer no. 3 expected in 15 mins. Grin

Then I think I'll need fish n chips for tea... Grin

OiMissus · 25/08/2011 19:43

Viewer no. 3 arrived, with mum, seemed to like it, asked lots of questions,... She's just started her search so has more to look at yet. So noone's biting my hand off.
Starving hungry. No sign of DH yet. Sad and his phone went straight to vmail. Sad not seen him since Monday morning. Sad
...and I need him to bring chips!!! Wink
I may expire.

OiMissus · 25/08/2011 20:07

DH just arrived home! Grin
He's now in the shower. Smile
But he had chips last night. Sad
I may still expire.

sevensevenseven · 25/08/2011 20:41

oimissus I hope your first viewer sells her house soon, and that you get your chips.

fairy I'd say it sounds like you just need a bump band for more support, I haven't had it in my bump but that's how my boobs felt before I started wearing a sleep bra.

Is anyone else's bump starting to put them off balance? I just nearly fell out of the bath while having a shower!

OiMissus · 25/08/2011 20:49

Interesting question re: bump bands. I just thought the bands were for aesthetics. Now I see there are supportive bands, do they aid balance or protect backs?

OiMissus · 25/08/2011 20:51

(we're having a durty pizza!! Grin)
We'll do healthy at the weekend, promise!
...I can't possibly cook with my feet raised!

sevensevenseven · 25/08/2011 22:15

you don't have to justify it to me oimissus, I couldn't resist the 4 toffee crisps for £1 offer in the shop earlier, I only went in to buy milk Blush

Awomancalledhorse · 25/08/2011 22:58

Mini rant before my 'proper' post; rib pain. REALLY? What the chuffing hell is that about? Cheers for making it more uncomfortable for me to wear a bra Squatter, on your wedding day I shall strip off, show off my sagging, strech marked, knee pad style boobies & tell everyone you did this to me. Rant over Grin

Glad at least one of the viewers sounded intestered OiMissus.
seven, is it just me or are toffee crisps not the same as they used to be? I've been buying the Sanisbury ownbrand ones, they taste more like Toffee Crisp than Toffee Crisp.

Congrats on the boy fairy!

LittleMissFlustered · 25/08/2011 23:19

'lo!

msB I almost delivered my son squatting on a gym ballGrin Student midwife refused to accept I neeeeeeeeeded to push, if she'd not caved and insisted on me getting on the bed to prove I wasn't dilated I would have pushed him into the space hopper

Well, scan took forever, as baby was serenely laid on it's back, both hands on the cord and legs tucked in too. We're talking forty minutes of me being rocked, rolled, poked and prodded. It took two sonographers to get all the detail that was needed. Everything was there and looked normal, and they think it might be a boy but they can't be sure as movement and cooperation were not happening.

I just had a Chinese, as I felt the need for satay sauce. I am loving the new advice that peanuts are cool unless there's a family allergy

msbuggywinkle · 26/08/2011 08:13

LMF DD2 was like that for her 20 week scan! She had a comfortable position and would not move. She was like that as a newborn too, she spent her first month rolled into a ball when she wasn't nursing...we still call her hedgehog!

DD2 is now yelling 'stoooooooop noisy chicken in my garden', chicken is laying an egg. DD1 still asleep (takes after DP and likes lazy mornings!). We're off to the cinema this morning as it is going to pour down here!

lalababy · 26/08/2011 08:38

oimissus hope the viewer manages to sell soon!

My purchase was such a nightmare... but thankfully it is all over and we are moved in. We finished painting the whole flat last weekend and it looks great :) I painted the nursery a bright green... was worries it might be too much... but v pleased. Will put up a photo soon.

It is such a pain... I am supposed to have my 25 week check up with my GP next week... but now I have moved house and need to register with a new dr... but I don't have any utility bills yet... arghhh!!!

Awomancalledhorse Really... the rib pain has come in only now... welcome to the club :( . I even mentioned it to the dr and he said "it will stop after you have the baby" ... are you f*ing kidding me... thats another 3 and a half months Angry

Shock OMG I am having a baby in 3 1/2 months Shock

Aaaaaa.....

mopsytop · 26/08/2011 08:51

lala I registered with my new GP with driving licence and passport as no bills in my name either, all in my husband's name. It's fine if you've 2 pieces of photo ID. I guess though maybe your licence hasn't your new address on yet?

I'd ring and explain and see what they say - if you're waiting weeks for driving licence and/or utility bill you don't want to not have your maternity care. This must happen all the time!

Ugh I am not loving the idea of rib pain. Why does it have to all be so bloody uncomfortable! So jealous of all my 'pregnancy is wonderful' friends. I wish!

HoneyLovesCake · 26/08/2011 10:52

LO spent pretty much all day yesterday kicking/punching me in the rib; I can't believe how strong he/she now is almost overnight Shock I was close to tears by the time DP got home & to be completely honest I'm now dreading the next 3 months if this is what it feels like when they're still so small. I had been calling the baby Sparrow because of the cute fluttery feeling in my belly but it doesn't feel so cute now :(

I'm going to try some yoga this morning which I'm hoping will encourage baby to move & pummel my other side today; I don't think my right rib can take another day like yesterday.

OiMissus I may be wrong but I think the bump bands you wear for aesthetics are completely different to the maternity support band/belt fairy & seven are talking about.

jomouse · 26/08/2011 11:11

Hello everyone...happy Friday!

We STILL haven't exchanged :( My darling husband who LOVES negotiating (normally over who feeds the cats, cooks the dinner etc) has decided to unleash his awesome powers on our vendors while we are trying to exchange. I am terrified they are going to get hacked off with us and take their time now...sob. Normally his crazy negotiating works out for the best, but I hope, hope, hope we don't lose the house over it...

Sorry to everyone who is feeling below par this week. We are all in the wars a bit...talking of that...anyone seen Kri5ty? Hope she is signed off and putting her feet up.

My darling father is visiting from his remote corner of Brittany this weekend, am so looking forward to seeing him :) and he has told me his is bringing macaroons and salted caramel. Total, total result

I have discovered TopShop maternity jeans. My JoJo Maman ones have gone in the elastic dept and the expensive Seraphine ones appear to be made for giants...TopShop it is. Hghly recommended.

Oh, and I had my first "Wow, you're ENORMOUS", "are you sure there aren't 2 in there" comment yesterday. Bastards. I gave them icy glares

mopsytop · 26/08/2011 11:12

Honey my mum (who's had six kids!) said they calm down considerably as they get bigger as no room to move as much. So hopefully it won't get worse!

OiMissus · 26/08/2011 11:20

Hi all, I have just received my "26 weeks" email - 1 week to go then I'm in the third trimester. We should really start putting some thought into names!
babycentre has this page of videos: www.babycentre.co.uk/video/#3/
I might try out the yoga moves later to try and loosen up/stretch a bit. It's bloody uncomfortable this pregnancy lark!
I'm not being kicked so much anymore. BabyGinger is a very quiet baby. I get the odd "thump" feeling, but that's all. I'm sure it's fine, but sometimes I can't help worrying a little bit. Maybe the yoga moves will stimulate him a bit too.

sevensevenseven · 26/08/2011 11:20

I've just been talking to my niece about growing up without mobile phones or Facebook, she asked how you used to talk to people! God I feel old now.

OiMissus · 26/08/2011 11:23

jomouse - good luck with the negotiations.
I think all mine will be with DH... I'm a "jump straight in" kind of person, whereas DH is much more thoughtful and questioning. This is good - we balance each other nicely, but there will be frustrations!

LittleMissFlustered · 26/08/2011 11:37

mopsy As the baby gets bigger the movements become much more considered and easy to feel, but there's usually less power behind them, as there's not much room to move in there. You can see an awful lot more too if you're not a whopping bit bird like meGrin

msB I was thinking hedgehog when I was rolling about like a beached seal yesterday!

OiMissus · 26/08/2011 11:48

A beached seal. Grin That's exactly how I feel!

HoneyLovesCake · 26/08/2011 12:42

Thanks mopsy & LMF I hadn't thought about the babe having less room to get force behind the kicks Hmm roll on the 3rd trimester then....maybe I should have a slice of cake to try & fatten LO up? Grin

I can thoroughly recommend Tara Lee's Pregnancy Yoga btw, I've had the dvd for aaaages but was a bit put off by the 70min full practice as I usually like my exercise in short bursts. It was good though; I feel very open now...there just seems to be more space in my pelvis, chest & abdomen & it's a nice feeling. Oooh & best of all LO feels much lower & deeper now, kicking like crazy but I definitely feel more cushioned from the kicks & no where near my right rib!

figgygal · 26/08/2011 13:12

I have had my 25 week email from boots today which was lovely until it reminded me have another 15 weeks to go!!I found out i was PG on april 15th it feels like a lifetime ago it really does. Oi your post made me feel a bit better and that 3rd trimester is just around the corner.

On the point of 3rd trimester is anyone planning on flying in it? I have been having a mad panic that i wont be home to Scotland until probably end of January now and dont think i can face that long. After 8 years of being in the south i still go home probably every 3-4 months. Parents due to go on hols next week and dont get back until im 27 weeks so will need a Dr note to get on the plane. My parents will come down before baby born and i think my mum intending on invading when he arrives so its not that they wont be coming to visit but i want to see my friends, niece and even my mum's dog before then. Not willing to drive as with loo stops will take 10 hours or so and the train is no quicker and VERY expensive. Anyone else separated from "home" and going to struggle?

mopsytop · 26/08/2011 13:25

I am same - flight to Dublin prob roughly same length. I think as flight is so short it is ok. I mean, it's unlikely something would go so wrong in 40 minutes right?
