Welcome to the new thread ladies!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
figgygal · 22/08/2011 13:57

Ive been feeling bad today too really light headed blamed it on not having a full meal last night, dehydration etc but been eating and drinking all morning and not shifted it. I have my 24 wk appointment tomorrow see how my BP is as mine is also low usually and going to raise this pain in my wrist it has been a week now and is agony in the mornings then seems to lessen in the day. I was reading it could be a sign of carpal tunnel god i hope not one of the reasons for it is excessive weight gain THAT would be embarassing :-(

OiMissus · 22/08/2011 14:14

I've had lower blood pressure than normal since becoming pg (usually it's fine, but it's even lower - at 95 over something at one appt, and 100/ something at the last) - but the midwife was really happy with that. I haven't had any dizziness though. I hope you find ways of combatting it and feeling better soon.
Who was it who mentioned having to roll around in order to hoist yourself up from a bed or couch? I definitely do that! Moving around is getting to be pretty tough - heaven knows how you ladies with little ones manage! - and heaven only knows how much worse it's going to get!!!

HoneyLovesCake · 22/08/2011 14:23

Sorry to hear you're feeling unwell figgy. My DP gets carpal tunnel & there's not a spare ounce of bodyfat on him so don't be embarrassed it's just another lovely pregnancy symptom :(

mopsytop · 22/08/2011 15:13

Sorry to hear you're feeling unwell figgy and Kri5ty. I am feeling okay apart from this pelvic girdle pain which is (literally!) a pain in the arse.

This is my first day working from home. It's actually fine but I need to be really motivated and I'm just sooo sleepy! Want to snooze. Is bad. Ate bread for lunch which is always a bad idea, it gives me a big slump.

sevensevenseven · 22/08/2011 17:36

Sorry to hear about those feeling unwell. kri5ty if the dizziness continues could you consider starting maternity leave at 29 weeks?

Thanks for the info on the curtains plupervert, I'll have a look at material when I get a chance.

figgygal · 22/08/2011 18:08

Head has passed must have been food afterall that bit of Victoria sponge at worm sorted me right out. Just home and changed into a bandeau top I wore on holiday last year ITs weird wearing pre preg clothes and looking down and seeing a massive bump where there previously was none.

DarciesmumandBump2 · 22/08/2011 19:03

Msbuggy Sorry to hear about your Grandad hopefully he'll be on the mend soon.

Kri5ty you should see your MW about your dizziness.

Seven Shock @ £190 for curtains.

Figgy good to see your feeling better too.

had a hectic weekend. Back to work today, it's like I never left for a week lol.

I thought DP/H's were supposed to go to the supermarket to deal with your cravings? Well mine says I have o wait till tomorrow :( I want Rocket Lollies and Skittles NOW!

aethelfleda · 22/08/2011 19:15

Kri5ty, ring back your GP and explain that whenever you turn your head the room spins, therefore you are not safe to drive and don't feel able to work, so please can he/she sign you off? The only down side to this is that when you hit 36 weeks (some contracts say 34 weeks) your employer may make you start your mat leave early. Seriously though, don't risk your safety and that of baby by driving if you are dizzy- not only is crashing bad for you, but your insurance company may not cover you if you drive while unfit.

DarciesmumandBump2 · 22/08/2011 19:46

my craving for ice-Lollies is back! and there is none in the house :(

aethelfleda · 22/08/2011 19:54

Do you have any fruit juice, Darcies? Put some fruit juice in plastic kiddy cups (like the Ikea ones every mum seems to have), stick a plastic teaspoon in each for a "handle" and make your own by tomorrow morning!

(this doesn't s

aethelfleda · 22/08/2011 19:55

(this doesn't solve the right-now factor sadly. Hmm. Would the budget run to a pizza with haagen daz for pudding?)

DarciesmumandBump2 · 22/08/2011 20:02

Ahh see now I broke our last plastic ice lolly thing and just not replaced them. That is a must when I go shopping this at the weekend! Thanks Grin I had the same craving when preggers with Darcie, so maybe I'm having another girl?!

OiMissus · 22/08/2011 20:34

I haven't had any cravings. I suppose I should be thankful, but I fel like I'm missing out! And whenever people ask, I wich I had something more interesting to say.
Been out for dinner with my colleagues this evening, me and 15 men... Sounds quite interesting, but it descended into 15 men telling me about the times when their partners gave birth. Everyone wanting natural childbirths, everyone then screaming for epidurals... I tried not to listen. :)
My water birth will be calm and heavenly... Hmm

OiMissus · 22/08/2011 20:47

(I haven't been drinking! ...feel.. wish... I don't meen by that that I feel like or wish that I had been drinking, they're just the words I spelt incorrectly.)

:)

OiMissus · 22/08/2011 20:47

mean... I give up! G'night!

mopsytop · 22/08/2011 21:38

Sounds like a fun (?!) evening OiMissus! I spent my evening buying new bras. I can't believe that I have to buy new ones AGAIN, when will my boobs stop growing? This is so bloody expensive! AND the bras are hardly gorgeous. I managed to find some okay ones in Mothercare but the non-underwired ones in Marks were SO unattractive, honestly just made me look like I had a big mono-boob. Yum. Have to say I am looking forward to getting back to my nice B cups and pretty underwired bras! Anyone else having this problem?! Do they get even bigger again when breastfeeding?

aethelfleda · 22/08/2011 21:59

Boobs aee so awkward! Mine can't decide if they are big or not- I bought 2 at m&s cos I was squeezing into the normal ones, then 4 weels later they go down to normal again and I'm not filling the new ones! And all the maternity ones are no damn good when you BF anyway. Plus in preg its normal to go up a chest size, then back down after delivery, THEN when your milk comes in most people go up 2 cup sizes.... Seriously, don't buy ANYTHING in advance as chances are it won't fit (or maybe one cheapish one)...

Oh and if you want some fun go into M&S with your bump and ask for an underwired bra- responses range from subtle disapproval to full-on fireworks!! Bait-a-bra-assistant is always good for free entertainment value...

mopsytop · 22/08/2011 22:03

haha was tempted to do that earlier!

msbuggywinkle · 23/08/2011 08:00

I went from a 34 DD to a 34 G when pregnant with DD1 and there they have stayed! Engorgement should only last a couple of days, so maybe a couple of vest tops with support...might get more use from them than yet another size of bra!

My Grandad has been eating on his own, which is great news. He is having an MRI scan today, so we should know more later.

Bump is very wiggly, spending most of her time breech. The DDs have felt her moving now and DD1 likes chatting to her, DD2 offers food through my belly button!

mopsytop · 23/08/2011 08:06

great news about your granddad msbuggy

here is an article about the Bounty woman and photos in postnatal wards - I definitely think it's outrageous, they'd better not come near me is all I can say!

Mmmmcheese · 23/08/2011 09:15

I find the bounty woman really annoying. But it's probably because I was in hospital for 6 weeks before I had DS (10 weeks early) and she used to come into my cubicle every day and say cheerfully "have you had your baby yet?" while I was lying there stressing out and worrying about DS being born early.

Are any of you guys having mood swings? I never get them normally, no PMT or anything but just recently I have been swinging between feeling realy happy and relaxed to feeling really down and worrying about EVERYTHING. Today I am feeling down and worrying. I don't think the gloomy weather helps. DS refused to give me a kiss this morning and I burst into tears! So silly, he's only 18 months.

Also keep waking up in the night and have to read to get back to sleep. So tired...tempted to have chocolate for breakfast! Maybe I will have some chocolate milk as that is good for the baby isn't it?!

msbuggywinkle · 23/08/2011 09:40

Yes, chocolate milk, lots of antioxidents in the chocolate, lots of vitamins, calcium etc in the milk...sounds good to me!

I read the article yesterday, really really unpleasant reading. It is nothing more or less than taking advantage of women when we're vulnerable and frankly have more important things to be thinking about! I refuse the Bounty packs, there is nothing in them that we use and I don't like the endless marketing crap they send in the post.

mopsytop · 23/08/2011 09:46

Yes Mmmmcheese I am veering between really happy and really worried/anxious about things. I didn't think of it as mood swings but I suppose it is! I don't ever get PMT or anything either.

I got given a Bounty pack when I went to GPs to make midwife appointment. I was really surprised at the time that the NHS would give out marketing material - there wasn't even any good freebie. I don't need any extra marketing, thanks! And I think it is a disgrace that a random marketeer has access to ante- and postnatal wards. I am going to warn my husband and if she comes anywhere near me she will get short shrift. To prey on vulnerable women like that is despicable, in my opinion. And asking for their details! It shouldn't be allowed. At most they could leave the pack with an online form for people to sign up if they wanted to, but to go into a woman's cubicle, invade her privacy when she is tired and vulnerable is really awful. I can't believe the NHS actually. I am glad I found out about this before I go in to give birth so I can be prepared.

KateM77 · 23/08/2011 10:53

I got very annoyed with the Bounty women when I had DD. They initially came and said they were taking photos on behalf of the hospital for security purposes! When it became apparent she was trying to flog very over-priced photos I sent her packing, but loads of women on the ward at their most vulnerable were spending shed-loads on it all.

I was then on the ward for a week while DD was in the special care unit and it got very upsetting when they'd come every day and ask to take photos. I was saying 1) you've taken one already and 2) do you even see the baby??!!
