Now I know the threads we were in weren't finished, but there were 3 threads for the September due dates, and I thought it would be nice to get everyone together and share their experiences.

Stats thread is here If you aren't on there, then get adding yourself.

Hopefully we can all get through the last stint together :)

I'm due 1st Sept, so one month to go, if the LO is punctual.

Hello all! Gosh it's going to be fun keeping up with you all on this thread - glad to hear that everyone has that familiar mix of excitement and dread as B-DAY creeps ever closer... I'm finding that the braxton's seem to come on a lot on the evening, or perhaps I just notice them more then, but it makes me think that whenever the real deal does kick off it'll be the same as last time - building up across the evening and then labouring through the early hours.

With DD1 my labour was around six hours, so am hoping that it's not too much quicker this time around, not that I want to be mooing for hours on end, but I think you do need a bit of time to come to terms with what is happening. My BF had a two hour labour second time around, and she was shaking afterwards from the shock of it!

BumpyHeff, I had a HB last time and no scans were required, none has been mentioned this time either - I'm curious as to why your MW thinks it should be necessary to establish baby's position, can she not establish this through palpation?

I am a tad jealous of all of you who've been sorting out nurseries and packing hospital bags... our house renovations are still in progress, and at the moment we have only two rooms with floors down, plus no kitchen or bathroom yet - I haven't even given a passing thought to a nursery, or what furniture it might contain! But to be honest a newborn is completely oblivious to such fripperies, and if necessary she can sleep in a cardboard box for the first couple of weeks, although I'm hoping it won't come to that - we will be moving in ten days time, and everything should be a bit more sophisticated by then Grin.

Minkyjj · 10/08/2011 23:57

Hello ladies - ah I have found you all again! Made it to 34 weeks today - only five more weeks of this nightmare. Have been back in hospital again (3rd time) contracting but still not dilating so have been discharged again. Consultant says they expect to see me regularly but that its not a problem (not much when you have two kids already a home and so have to get taxis in the middle of the night unsure whether the baby is coming on your own - the taxi drivers freak! and hubby stays at home and doesnt even bother to get out of bed these days as its such a frequent occurance - one day he is gonna get a shock!) I have managed to get here though and so 4 weeks of bed rest seem to be working! While I am moaning, wondered if anyone can tell me how you can use the iphone mn app to check in as when I use it I cant seem to flip the chat thread and cannot be arsed to scroll through 100s of posts each time - doesn anyone know how to sort this out?
Had a 34 week scan yesterday and I have a baby who already has a full head of hair and weighs approx 5lb 11oz - not bad really! Anyway, hope you are all okay and looking forward to hearing all your posts soon :-)

100years · 11/08/2011 10:58

Hey ladies,

re bras, this is where a few of my friends have recommended, they actually have my current bra in stock there slightly cheaper than where I buy it from. So if you know what size you want then it might be worth a look.

TP no not Harborne, I shall PM you :) We aren't going to NCT classes, went to a full labour day NHS thing at the women's and were happy with what we took from there. Need to discuss with OH things I want from the birth, I acknowledge that nothing will go exactly or maybe even slightly to plan, but it would be nice for him to know what I want.

Ace news for the HB Bumpy :)

Loomer, I hope all gets sorted quickly in the house for you.

Minky, glad you made it to 34 weeks, must be worrying for you. Re the iPhone app, there was a recent update to it, that seemed to mess it up and I can no longer flip the threads on my iPhone, which is a shame as I was enjoying posting via my phone, which I can't do now. Hopefully when they update again it will all be sorted out.

3 weeks to go till September aka 3 weeks to go for me! Shock

I'm due sept 21 but they are inducing me in 3 weeks due to being type 1 diabetic. Freaked out at first yesterday when they told me but coming round to it now. We always knew I wouldn't make it full term but the actual closeness of the date is very scary.

ssmile · 11/08/2011 12:24

I use the mobile internet on my Android phone as can't use the apt. I find it great for mumsnetin prob why I post on here lots :o
minkyj glad u hanging in there. Must be a nightmare for u all. I actually thought I should really pack a bag for DD too as grandPas are on standby to have her if I go into labour early. I've done my bag &baby 2be bag. As with out my DH to drive I too would be in taxis. Hope u can still take it easy for a few more wks.
I went to a breastfeeding workshop last night was interesting that they yet again giving out conflictin advice. I really struggled feeding my DD 4yrs ago but did get there after 5-6wks of what felt like hell at times this time I am keen to avoid some of the problems I went through. But MW gave me dvd which was pushing holding baby horizontal across mum tum to get baby to latch. Last night lac consultant was advocating biological nurturing which meant letting baby use its instincts to 'crawl' to ur breast from what ever 360angle it feels like whilst u skin to skin. Interesting idea. The most comfy position I found in early days with huge boobs was lying down:)

jimmijam · 11/08/2011 13:23

I come on here using my android, dont have a mumsnet app, just come on hetervia the internet on my phone, works fine.
Saw mw 2day, baby is head down but not at all concerned, she made me a double appt 4 next time 2 go thru my birth plan due 2 my concerns after last labour and not having a nice midwife during last labour.
Baby pushing on something, sharp pains going down my bum, not nice. Also feeling like i could eat a horse 2day!

100years · 11/08/2011 15:37

Firsttimer, that's my due date - 3 weeks time!!! LOL Maybe I'm Ok with it as I've had 3 weeks longer to get used to when she is due to be here, whereas for you it's all of a sudden 3 weeks sooner than you thought. You'll prob beat me anyway, my Mum was induced with me as I was 2 weeks overdue!

I must admit to coming on here via my phone internet, but it's not as easy to see everything due to screen size, so I tend not to post on my phone via internet, but I share a laptop with OH and sometimes he's on it loads (I do have my own - much much much inferior version - that I have given up using) and so will come on via it then, but usually just come on here via laptop.

Feel like a bit of a baby brain idiot, there was a BF class at the local hosp today which I had thought of going to, but I didn't remember about it until I read your post ssmile and the class started at 12pm! Oh well, another one in 2 weeks and ones at docs every week if I want to.

jimmi, hope baby moves off the nerve it's pressing on. I'm having icky sick feelings today, will be fine later I reckon.

Going to get washing out of the machine, put a DVD on and probably fall asleep :) Woke at 6 and not managed to get back to sleep.

Oh I've gone from 3 bags for the hosp, one if I needed to go in before labour like if there was another BP blip, one for labour and one for hospital stay down to 2 now, one for labour and one (little one) for the stay. The theory behind it, is if I have a BP blip or anything that involves a hosp stay I reckon they may induce so may as well just have everything there on that chance as opposed to having to get another bag brought in. Eeep :)

Never used an app on my phone, just use the internet - but it's too small to post, so post when on laptop too.
I went to my BF class when I was around 29 weeks - so pretty much forgotten it all now! Just hoping that there are good midwives on the ward to guide me.

JJ - ouch... nerve pains not fun.
100years - well done on the bags front. I've got one for me and one for LO, but still need to make a list of things I can't pack just yet (as still using). Actually, I'm going to do a draft birth plan now and I'll make another list of the things that aren't yet packed, and I'll have to grab!

Just back from midwife - not my usual - she's on hols! But got a double appt booked next week too to go through the birth plan (hence wanting to draft it out now). LO is NOT engaged, despite starting to feel pressure lower down. Explains being kicked in the ribs though (and what felt like being kicked in the heart last night...wasn't fun!!). Took a few stabs at getting any blood this time...ouch!

CBear6 · 11/08/2011 16:41

My LO isn't engaged either Sebs, I'm not at all concerned though because it doesn't mean anything. Everyone was saying I go overdue with DS because he wasn't engaged but he came on his due date and didn't engage until I was 6cm dilated :)

Nice birth plan Tiddley :)

I'm trying to read catch-up here but DS is bouncing on me in a Cars-induced fit of excitement so it's not easy! I hope everyone is doing well and feeling good.

My buggy is coming tomorrow, I had a panic that it wasn't going to show up so I had to ring and check. They must be used to dealing with gibbering hormonal types because they were very reassuring that it will definitely be here tomorrow. All the baby clothes are washed, they just need to be ironed and put away, DH bought me a new iron and ironing board which put a huge grin on my face (somewhere, feminism is weeping for me) but the board has yet to arrive so I'm waiting until it does before tackling the pile! I could kneel on the floor with a towel like I normally do but I don't fancy my chances of getting back up again as my hip has developed an annoying habit of locking up or not locking up but being too painful to move (think it's to do with DD's position because it's not all of the time). It did it the other day when I was on all fours retrieving cars from under the sofa, I asked DS to go fetch Daddy, DS jumped on my back and started making horsey ride noises. Not the most dignified of sights for DH to walk in on when he eventually got out of the shower ...

The Health Visitor came out for my pre-baby visit this week. She's DS's HV too so she had a bit of a catch-up with him while she was here. Hospital bag is all done too. It's slowly all coming together, not long left now.

Is anyone else finding themselves slowing down now? I hoped to make the most of DS while he's still my one and only so had lots of days out planned. We've been going here there and everywhere with my mam and dad (tgeyre our wheels and my youngest brother is on school holidays so they're taking him out too), I increasingly find myself waddling along or sat on a bench or watching from the sidelines while they tear round having fun with DS :( it's not that I can't tear round, just that I can't for very long. My dad and DH both keep telling me that I need to start taking it easy but I don't want to miss out. I'm going to bloody Beamish for the day next week and I know for a fact I'll be wrecked and sweaty and will spend the whole trip hunting down the nearest toilet whilst nursing my back but I don't want to not go. it's DS's birthday the week after too and I'm busy planning a day out for that.

Sorry for the essay!

Minkyjj · 11/08/2011 18:09

Thanks guys for the advice re the mn app for my iphone - 100 years, I think you are right as I am sure I was originally able to flip the thread when I first used the app - I am going to feedback to mn techies as the app isnt really that user firendly in its current state and its kind of put me off using mn on my iphone as its just too much hassle to navigate the screens of the site.
Interesting to read all your posts re nursing bras - I asked in mothercare if they will measure me up and take back or exchange if I manage to get nearer to my due date and I have changed size considerable - they also suggested that I could buy a sleep bra for use in hospital and then go and get properly measured when my milk comes in, might do that this time.

jimmijam · 11/08/2011 18:49

Just read back my own thread, was meant 2 say baby head down but not engaged (not concerned), ds and dd were engaged a few weeks ago. Suppose in a way i should b glad that i can still walk :-) and also the nearer the end of the school hols the better. Still find it strange 2 think that if babys just 4days early he/she will b in a whole different school year!!

feralgirl · 11/08/2011 20:10

bumpy, HBs in Cornwall used to get a routine extra scan at 37 weeks like you're having but I guess the cuts to the ante-natal service have bought an end to that. Last check the DC was head down and back to front (iyswim) so I'm just hoping that it stays still.

I am moving at about quarter my normal speed atm I reckon and I have absolutely no stamina whatsoever. By lunchtime I am completely wrecked and this afternoon I was spectacularly sick again. God I cannot wait for this whole hideous ordeal to be over as I hate being so reliant on my family for everything and the hormones and general knackeredness are really getting to me.

At least the house is nearly sorted, just another day or two of upheaval and then I can have a lovely DIY SOS 'reveal' moment when I go back home and it's all looking lovely Grin

Misty9 · 11/08/2011 21:52

wow - this thread's gone crazy! Can't remember who has said what...

Had midwife home birth visit today - it's all getting very real and I felt a bit freaked out talking about MY labour after reading so many other people's stories... The hired pool is being delivered tomorrow and I'll be full term on Monday :) the countdown begins! Oh, and no scan here either - mw is just palpating to determine position (engaged and LOA so far!)

Loving being on mat leave and had lovely relaxing 'last fling' weekend away with DH Grin before two become three. I find myself sitting in the nursery sometimes, just digesting the enormity of how much our lives are about to change...

Can't remember who said about the 'crawling' way of latching baby on - it's amazing to see (I'm sure Youtube would have videos) but that reflex only lasts a short while (days I think?) as it's a survival one for newborns. I was surprised to hear the midwife at our antenatal mention it, and will definitely give it a go after the birth if I'm compus mentis enough to remember!
Definitely slowing down now, and get very tired/breathless from simple things like climbing stairs. Unfortunately, my cleanliness threshold is still higher than DH's so still getting the hoover out before he would... Plan for next week is to wash all the baby clothes and nappies - can't wait to see them on the clothes horse :)

ScarlettPhoenix · 11/08/2011 23:41

Hi ladies, wow - lots to read! Glad everyone is similar to me, I'm getting so tired but there is still so much I want to get done before little one arrives! I've managed to paint some doors this week and have been cleaning like there's no tomorrow! I'm so tired now though I just don't think I'll be able to to do any more!

Milliebow · 12/08/2011 07:22

Wow, lots of posts. Posted a few days ago but musn't have worked as can't see it now - that was using internet on my android - know what you all mean it is a bit slow.

Was wondering when my nesting energy was going to kick in and seems to have this morning! Can't believe i was up at 6 am putting a load of baby clothes in the wash - although slowed down a bit now and heartburn has caught up after breakfast!

Just wondering what car seat everyone had bought from mother care that wasn't flame retardant? Few posts back now. We ordered ours on Wednesday from MC but it was maxi cosi not MC brand - colours sound rather familiar though!

Remember watching that video about newborns crawling to latch on a while ago - think it is on you tube but can't rem what to search for. Was pretty amazing to see.

Jojo1983 · 12/08/2011 09:04

Morning ladies
Had my 34 week scan yesterday and baby already weighing in @ 6lb4oz! Midwife reckons he is going to be a 9-10lber when born! Now im scared! The lovely lady who done the scan for us done us a quick 3d one which included a photo which was so nice of her i nearly cried (stupid hormones).
Only 5 weeks to go and still so much to do but have no energy. No nesting here for me lol
Hope everyone is feeling good and well not long to go now ladies!

CBear6 · 12/08/2011 10:04

Don be scared Jojo! I had extra scans with DS and they told me they thought he'd be 10-11lb, I was bloody petrified! When the time came he was big but he wasn't 11lb big, he was 9lb 3oz. I managed to get him out myself though so he wasn't too big for that. Growth scans can be off by anything up to 2lb so try not to worry too much.I'm hopefully expecting around 8 and a half pounds but have a sneaking suspicion shell be closer to 9lb.

Has anyone else had no Braxton Hicks, or at least very few? A couple of weeks ago I seemed to be getting loads to the point where I was thinking whether they were BHs or the real deal, we went to a show at the arena and the noise/lights, etc triggered off loads of them. Since the weekend though, 35 weeks, I've had none, or none that I've noticed. Baby hasn't had hiccups yet either. I remember with DS I had BHs loads and hiccups at least once a day. Suppose it just shows each pregnancy is different.

tiddleypompom · 12/08/2011 10:54

Morning all,
Reading through all the posts with empathy - wishing those with due dates approaching lots of luck and hoping none of us have to wait TOO long..! I have just reached 34 wks so a little longer yet. Not sure about Braxton Hicks - I'm not convinced I have felt them to date, though I do suffer from low-down pains if I over-do it (long walks, too much gardening etc). Hiccups are familiar though - most days, which make me laugh but I also feel a little sorry for poor baby, I hate having hiccups!
We haven't had any photos since 20 wks - they cost £6 at our hospital, which I thought was a bit over the top till I read on another forum about a lady with twins being charged £10 for each photo!! Of course we all want the photos so will pay whatever asked, which is a bit naughty IMO - though at 32 weeks there was no chance of getting a photos of the whole baby - just a series of different angles!
Feeling a bit envious now of those having a HB. This is definitely the way I'd have liked to do things, but DH was always a bit nervous and I have been transferred to consultant-led care thanks to low placenta so it's out of my hands anyway. Maybe next time....

...NEXT TIME??? DID I JUST SAY THAT??!!!!

Happy Friday everyone.

tiddleypompom · 12/08/2011 12:08

By the way, can I recommend reading through one of the discussions of the day (today) which is a fabulous 4 pages (currently anyway) of positive birth stories. I've just read through them all and feel so much less anxious than I did before. Also off to check out Ina May on amazon...

sebs71 · 12/08/2011 12:40

Can't believe you're thinking of the next one TP!!! :o

CBear - I'm the opposite re Braxton Hicks. They're coming in a big way - and staying for a while. Usually evenings/night - which is not good as it's almost impossible to get comfy at night with a rock hard bump. And, I'm pretty short so LO is still kicking/close to diaphragm so when I lie down I sometimes can't even get my breath. Starting to dread going to bed :( But, at least on Mat leave can try and have a quietish morning to catch up.

My 20 week scan was great, but had one at 22 weeks (because she refused to move and they couldn't complete the measurements!) and one at 35 weeks (to check not too big) and at both scans wasn't offered any photos and they were done very quickly - screen hardly turned to me except for a quick (we're talking less than a minute) tour at the end of their measurements. At my recent one they didn't even give me an estimate of weight or anything - just said "all ok" several times. I was obvioulsy glad of the "OK" part, but reading everyone's posts, a bit more info (even if the scans can be misleading weight wise) would have been nice!!

Haven't considered HB - live too rurally and tbh, although want minimum intervention, just feel a bit more comforted if equipment/staff are nearby. But that's just me... the videos shown in classes re HBs all seem so calm that I think those going for them will have a very positive experience.

Milliebow - the car seat was a Mothercare brand - Xcursion. So think you're ok!

CBear6 · 12/08/2011 13:50

I'm feeling lucky to have the local hospital! £3 for two pictures but if you don't buy a to ken they normally just chuck you a free one and there's a screen hanging above the bed so you get to watch the whole scan while they're doing their measurements, etc.

£10?! That's extortionate!

Milliebow · 12/08/2011 18:50

Thanks sebs!

It was £4 per photo at my 20 week scan. Maybe it's true what they say that literally everything is cheaper up north. £10 seems just ridiculous.

Jojo I second everyone else - seen quite a few threads about scans being far out on measurements. I had a 4d one done privately and when they estimated the weight there was a disclaimer about being out as much as 2lbs.

ssmile · 12/08/2011 19:54

In SW scan photos were suggested donation £2 sounds like a gd deal compared to some on here.
Been vuncomfortable tonight not sure if BraxtonH or wind :o I don't remember getting BH with DD, which prob explains why I failed induction at 15d over but tum vfull&tight tonight &baby really strainin around in tum. Prob is wind?
Hope we all have restful wends. Gd luck those in throes of DIY we had that first time around was nightmare, this time bit more settled as finished bathroom couple wks ago.

Jojo1983 · 12/08/2011 20:25

Fingers crossed the scan is wrong! Don't get me wrong I want a nice healthy weigh but the thought of a 9-10lber is scaring me!
My scan photos were £3 each or two for £5 but I only paid for the first lot (well my mum did) and the two we had done yesterday the other two times they gave us them for free so wasn't too bad.

ssmile · 12/08/2011 20:42
