Now I know the threads we were in weren't finished, but there were 3 threads for the September due dates, and I thought it would be nice to get everyone together and share their experiences.

Stats thread is here If you aren't on there, then get adding yourself.

Hopefully we can all get through the last stint together :)

I'm due 1st Sept, so one month to go, if the LO is punctual.

I've done a bit of sobbing and freaking out. Just worn out now, emotionally and physically.

Thanks for the finger crossing, it's appreciated!

Jojo1983 · 04/08/2011 14:12

Hi everyone, this is my first pregnancy and am due 22nd september, this heat is killing me only managing about 4 hours sleep a night while DP snores on under the duvet as he is cold?!?!?
Got a scan on the 11th as baby is going to be big so they say and at last midwives appointment got told that he could come at any time so bit worried/stressing about that.
Hope everyone is well

GetDownYouWillFall · 04/08/2011 14:49

Hi everyone - I've been posting on the Charter's thread, since I first got the BFP back in January, but haven't joined a September thread until now!!

Due date 14th Sept, so the same as Scarlett

I've got one DD already, who is 3.5.

Was glad of the rain today have been getting so hot and exhausted! 34 week appt on monday, and am really hoping baby is head down as it was breech at last check.

Will add myself to the stats now....

MrsSawyer · 04/08/2011 15:09

Ive just thought of a good tip for everyone - if you have a vaginal birth, then it can be -excruitating- a bit painful when you go for a wee for a few days, but you must keep drinking, so the absolute best thing to do is buy a bottle with a screw sports top, drink the contents, wash well, fill with tap water and squirt "down below" as you are weeing and it will kind of dilute the wee, so it doesnt sting as much. Fill up with tap water straight after your last wee so you are never caught with an inch in the bottom of the bottle and then cry because it hurts!

feralgirl · 04/08/2011 15:22

Ah yes, the wee sluice. I never remembered to refill the bottle and just ended up peeing in the shower a lot...

hazelnutlatte · 04/08/2011 15:40

Hello, Glimmerberry sorry to hear about your problems, must be pretty scary to think all is normal and then suddenly its not! Hope all goes well for you and its good that they have picked up on it now, rather than when you are in labour.

My first NCT class was good, was more of a 'getting to know you' session really, got a full day class on Sunday so will see what that is like. Did feel like we were the naughty kids at the back though, all of the other couples were married and much posher than us! Was hoping to use the classes to meet new people so am a bit worried that I don't have enough in common with them.

sebs71 · 04/08/2011 16:20

Glimmerberry... also hope all goes well for you, and keeping fingers crossed for you. It's good that they have all the facts now though, and you'll be looked after.

Had a growth scan today, and found out LO isn't that big, and is pretty average for 35 weeks, so pleased about that! Nice to have an extra scan at this stage though and check everything out before the next few weeks.

candr · 04/08/2011 16:24

Glimmer, keeping fingers crossed for you, sounds like a bit of a mare to be dealing with.
Like the water bottle idea though dread stitches.
Just had scan no 8 today and took my dad (raised a few eyebrows in waiting room as they tried to work out the age difference he he)he has never seen a scan and thought it was cool. Was really pleased to hear that the extra fluid on the brain that was a hightened DS risk has levelled out so the risk is much lower now which is great. All other measurements fine. He weighs just over 4lb and they said he will prob double weight in next few weeks - DOUBLE weight in that space of time, I don't know if I will stretch anymore!. We have classes booked and feel same as hazelnut with the giggling. Am used to being the teacher not the pupil. Hope all are enjoying cooler weather today, my new sun umbrella turned up yesterday so I knew it would rain today.

jimmijam · 04/08/2011 17:00

Any1 got any tips on moving baby out from ribs (been painful all day and last night)- other than giving birth!
Also feel sick 2day whenever i drink or eat even just a cube of cheese :-( then read in an email from boots that stomach is currently about half its usual size :-o !! 3rd time around you'd think i'd have had this b4, esp with our 1st being 9lb 5oz, but no, every pregnancy has definately been different!!

tiddleypompom · 04/08/2011 17:18

Hello again everyone,
Jimmijam have you got a birthing/exercise ball? I had the 'stuck under ribs' syndrome for about a week - took to bouncing on my ball for couple of hours a day (reading novels and eating chocolate) and baby smartly did a 180degree turn (crikey I though it was going to burst out of my belly 'alien' style) and is now a well behaved cephalic. 1-0 to mum ha ha!
Glad people are enjoying their NCT experiences - we start in a couple of weeks and can't say I am looking forward to it. Mostly as DH is not good at the 'introduce your partner' type stuff (memories of marriage classes - eek!). Still, we're hoping to meet peeps we like as rather low on pregnant/new parent mates nearby.
Candr - :o at the midwives computing your dad as baby-father! We've also got a 4 and a bit lb baby, with 7 weeks to go. Hmm, too early to celebrate lack of stretch marks then I guess...
Spent an hour today at John Lewis with mum - bought very cute dungaree/vest set that I have hung next to where I am bouncing on my ball - quite clearly I am baby-obsessed and no possible use/company to anyone other than you all, my new cyber-friends who are also no doubt (she hopes) equally as distracted.
Enjoy your evenings and wishing you all well
TP x

BumpyHeffalumpy · 04/08/2011 18:12

Just got myself some raspberry leaf tablets because a friend suggested it but am not sure if I should take them. Anyone know anything about it? Supposed to tone the uterus and help with labour.

Coxrama · 04/08/2011 18:42

Dear All, Im new to this thread too. I am due on the 30th September with my DC 2. I Have just been told i will need a C section probably around 38 weeks due to (wait for it) baby in Transverse lie due to my heart shaped womb, they also have found I have an Amniotic Band, which is pretty dangerous if baby gets caught in it and baby is on the 97th percentile.

I found out i had a heart shaped womb once they opened me up with my DS1 who was transverse (he is 29months), so I was expecting another c section, but the AB is a worry for me.
Just want it to come quickly as not great in late pregnancy, expecially in this weather, and my son is knackering me out, no rest for the wicked.
Nervous about introducing my little one to the baby and wondering how ill manage.
When i read all the comments or search MN for amniotic bands or heart shaped wombs nothing comes up, has anyone else had to deal with this in pregnancy?
Otherwise Im Ok a little feel bloated and Pelvis kills me in the evening but hey its all worth it!!

jimmijam · 04/08/2011 19:37

hi, i dont know anything about either of those things coxrama im afraid. but after experiencin both emcs and vbac i'd much rather have a cs! expecting to have another vbac this time around tho :-(
bumpyheffalumpy from memory, they say not to take them before 36/37 weeks, i remember my midwife telling me off last time around for drinking the tea too soon, foul stuff tho, tablets prob much better. perhaps i should get shopping!

100years · 05/08/2011 08:15

Hey Glimmer, hope everything works out OK for you. Must be a worrying time.

Welcome to Stase, jojo, GetDown and Coxrama

I've got a jug for post birth watering down below!

candr I hope my LO doesn't double in weight between now and birth, 6lbs 6 the other day, but I have 'only' got 4 weeks to go!

Got a busy weekend this weekend, a wedding to go to, checked my dress fit the other day, WOW I feel like bump looks massive in it (if that makes any sense)! We have no full length mirrors in our house, so it's not until I go somewhere that I can actually see what my bump really looks like, or if OH takes a pic of me. Get the odd shock to see what I look like frequently now! So after today I shan't be on here much till after the weekend.

Had a cracking BH this morning, OH got to feel how rock hard my stomach went!

ssmile · 05/08/2011 14:38

glimmerberry oh gosh thinking of you hope baby is all healthy in the end. I wondered where u had gone I couldn't remember who lived on the island making kilts I knew there was someone. Big hugs.
Yes I second sitting on a birth/exercise ball to help position baby that is wedged under the ribs. I've not had it as much with this preg.
I've had 2people& my mum say wow haven't you got big this week! Gee thanks I thought how to boost morale of preg lady. Hopefully 3wks today get to meet my wee one as booked in c-sec but my gosh I be even bigger by then. I wasn't sure if baby had dropped abit yesterday as lots discomfort in groin but think I'd just lifted my DD awkwardly the day before as its eased today. Just wish it wasn't so hot n humid its SO draining!

Dualta · 05/08/2011 14:41

Hi everyone - I've been on the earlier thread great to see some familiar names - have just moved countries and haven't been on here for ages! Due 21 September, but me, my sister and brother were all born 2 weeks early so am wondering whether my little boy (first baby) will follow suit?!
Anyone had similar births/timings to their mothers?

Hope everyone is well and happy and wishing you the best for the final stretch

feralgirl · 05/08/2011 20:46

Coxrama, one of my friends has a heart-shaped womb like you. She had a bugger of a time in labour with her DS1 as noone had spotted it on her scans Shock and she ended up having an EMCS. Good that you've got all the facts in advance but it must be dead scary having all those complications.

I had a really crappy day yesterday, spent all afternoon crying for no apparent reason and was also sick again. So I cheered myself up by melting the credit card buying our new pushchair + accoutrements Grin

Dualta, can't say there's any history of my birthing patterns following my mum's; I was two weeks late, my brother was also quite late but my DS was nearly a month early. She nearly died giving birth to me but my first was a relatively simple and straightforward delivery. I know you inherit your fertility from your mum but I certainly haven't inherited anything else!

feralgirl · 05/08/2011 20:53

Oh and Minky, come over to this thread! Where are you?

CBear6 · 05/08/2011 21:38

Had my 34 week check and DD is now head down instead of oblique (huzzah!), no sign of her being engaged yet but DS didn't engage until I was 6cms and pacing the delivery room, the MW has advised me to have a dainty baby this time - wish it was that easy! :)

Do you really get your fertility from your mum? My mum got pregnant each time within a month of trying whereas it took me three years for my first and I ended up losing it, six months for DS, three months for Baby O and I lost her to mmc in the second trimester, then four months for this one. My fertility seems to follow the pattern of my aunt (mum's sister) who alternated mc-live birth-mc-live birth-repeat for all of her DCs.

It's lovely seeing so many new names and familiar ones :)

Coxrama · 06/08/2011 10:42

Hi Feralgirl the way I found out I had a heart shaped womb was after my DS was stuck in transverse position and they opened me up in CS and the surgeon said .."oh you have a heart shaped womb!!' I found it amazing that they never picked it up in previous scans considering I can clearly see it on my scans now with DC2...wierd but with both preganacys i have more than enough scans and appointments in DAU to check baby heart and position.
Im in for having the baby at kingston Hospital( 7/10 care) but I am insured so Bupa will pay for it to be done privately if we decide that in the next couple of weeks. Not sure what to do.

Misty9 · 06/08/2011 17:54

Nice to see so many new names - Sept is going to be a busy month!

Having a 'blurgh' day today. Feel wiped out by the littlest thing (like walking to town) but then feel restless at the same time. Been rearranging poppyseed's room again, and put up the family heirloom crib (even though we have bought a bednest....OH not happy!). Can't quite believe we're having a baby in the next few weeks. 35+5 so could be any time between 3 and 6 weeks now! Eek.

We're off for a last romantic getaway tomorrow, before two becomes three... Well, as romantic as one can manage at nearly 36wks pregnant! A lovely pub with rooms in West Sussex. Shame about the weather, but it was a bit too hot and humid anyway :)

Started swelling in my hands a bit - and seem to have developed heel/arch pain which upon research may be plantar fasciitis?? Bloody painful to walk anyway. Ordered the birth pool and midwife doing a homebirth visit next week :)

It's getting real now!

ssmile · 06/08/2011 19:07

A leak in the roof prompted DH to decide to start clearing out loft today! The plus side was he found the missing baby boxes, playmat &moses basket stand. But I ended up spending 2hrs+ sorting our recycling stuff n charity bags plus we had 2car loads to the tip &keep a 4yr old amused who wanted to 'help'! He wants to do other half of loft tom, talk about getting organised 3wks before birth :o Bloomin knackered tonight though.
Hope u all had a cooler sat it was such a relief not to overheat today.

ScarlettPhoenix · 06/08/2011 19:09

Great advice feralgirl, thanks for that. Have got a few ready made cartons in the cupboard now 'just in case'! :)

Waving back to GetDownYouWillFall - good to know of someone else due on the same date in this thread! Grin

MrsSawyer - I had heard about the bottle tip, had to explain to hubby why I was searching out the 'sports top' bottes in the supermarket the other day when we were getting the last bits for the hospital bag!!

Misty Hope you enjoy your romantic getaway, how lovely!

We've been to our final NCT class today, it was a full day class and it was brilliant. I am really glad we went to them as I feel so much calmer about the labour and birth than I did after the hospital classes, the leader was fantastic and answered every single question we had. I also feel that my hubby got loads out of the classes too. We both feel it was money well spent. :)

jimmijam · 06/08/2011 21:43

Babys had a growth spurt 2day, after thinking this would b our smallest i am now thinking otherwise, and tummy feels ready 2 pop!!
Talking about the jug or sports bottle of water, i didnt need that last time but did hold a sanisary towel over my stitches wen doing a #2, strangely made it much more comfortable

feralgirl · 06/08/2011 21:58

CBear, AFAIK, we often inherit our fertility from our mothers (although you seem to be a major exception). I think I got this gem from the Panorama that - ironically - Kate Silverton presented a few years ago called Right Time for a Baby and a dr said on that that you are still reasonably fertile up until you are ten years younger than your mum was when she hit the menopause.

There are lots of conditions that can be inherited that might affect fertility and I wonder whether these can be passed from one's paternal grandmother via one's dad as well? I'm certainly no expert.

All the women in my family - both sides - are absurdly fertile, as am I. We seem to just have to look at an eligible man and we get knocked up! But I have very different birthing patterns to my mum so I dunno how much there is to it all.

Scarlett, I have just realised that I have not followed my own advice and that I have not got my emergency cartons ready. I am trying not to be too blase about having a simple birth and breezing through BFing but it's really difficult not to take these things for granted when they were dead easy last time. I'm sure that karma will bite me in the arse and give me a 48 hour labour and a baby that refuses to latch on this time!
