Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Bubalie · 08/09/2011 16:48

Haha Bumps I'm not getting the watermelon feeling as yet, but will look out for it and report back!

Leo4 · 08/09/2011 19:32

BB3 I cant see your bump pictures...for some reason sound very nice bump :) I had mine professionally photographed all on show...because its my first wanted decent pictures of it and having a new born shoot for baby! :) so excited!

Had midwife today and she said baby was head down ...again! but I am very wary of this so shall wait and see at scan next week! O and I have consultant appointment tomorrow so might find out there! Apparently iv got SPD and have been told I am being referred for a support strap and might have to use crutches :( Has ne1 had any experience of this?

Bubalie and others I've only had BH, no real contractions yet...

Scheherezade · 08/09/2011 20:56

35 weeks today! but baby seems to have his feet stuck very very low down, am getting kicks in my pubic bone. Got midwife next week, scan the week after at 37 then ECV/whatever it is to push him round.

bilblio · 08/09/2011 21:36

bubalie I'm another one saying try not to worry. When I had my scan on Monday for my placenta the scan showed LO was a very healthy 4lb5oz +/- 10oz. But when the midwife measured me I was 3cm short. If I'd seen the midwife first they'd have probably been worrying.

Also my SIL was measuring small, she went for scans to check at 35 & 36 weeks and they were talking about inducing her if LO didn't grow. LO grew between the 2 scans, and they took into account that SIL is only 5ft tall and one of my nieces is very petite. (The eldest takes after my 6'2" brother!)
They decided everything was fine but warned that this baby was going to be about 5lb.... she arrived on time and a very healthy 7lb 1oz.

I think I'm have BH.... but then LO is fidgetting and stretching so much that sometimes it's hard to tell. So much for them not moving much in the last few weeks as they run out of space.

33+3 today, and 46 days to go (according to the app on my phone anyway :) )

BB3 · 08/09/2011 22:04

I'm seconding (well more like sixth-ing) the try not to worry as your bump will go up and down and my consultant is forever telling me how inaccurate measurements are. So look forward instead to seeing bubs again on Monday!

sound any news?

Leo you should just be able to click on my name and go to my pics - if not will post a link first thing.

Hectic day tomorrow - DS at nursery and then off to friends wedding (for which we've done cake so need to be there early to set up) so babies can come from evening onwards but not before!!!

Have yet to hunt wardrobe for something suitable that fits. Could be interesting!!!

BB3 · 08/09/2011 22:05

Oh 35+2 xx

Leo4 · 08/09/2011 22:06

I can't I'm afraid :(

BB3 · 08/09/2011 22:11

Ah no worries will post a link in the morning x

Penelope1980 · 08/09/2011 23:40

BabCNesbitt Am in NZ but lived in London until recently.

Bubalie don't worry about the growth scan - if it makes you feel better, I saw the MW on tuesday and she told me I was good for my dates but he was on the small side. When I had to go to the hosp on Wed I was measured by a second person, who said I was measuring ahead of my dates, then an hour later by a doctor who said baby is on track for dates but on the large side. So, three different stories from three different people within 24 hours!

Sounds how's it going? I have had stomach pain on and off for about 24 hours now but don't think it's contractions as I haven't engaged yet. I will call my midwife later though as if it's not contractions I'd like to know what it is!

Bubalie · 09/09/2011 07:22

Morning all and thank you all for reassurances, I am so glad you are all here, if I was on my own thinking about it I would have been a nervous wreck! My DH was really good last night, he went on and researched it on the net and is pretty much found out the same as what you are all saying, how unreliable these growth scans are and it all depends on the person measuring you, the baby's position etc. so I have calmed down a bit now.

I feel very bruised and battered today, baby is laying on my right hand side and doesn't like me sleeping on that side, so very hard trying to stay and sleep on the left side all night!!

We have our first NCT class today (all day and all day tomorrow), so excited for this.

Have a good day everyone.

Bumpsadaisie · 09/09/2011 10:03

Penelope

It could be contractions - some babies dont engage till well into labour!

Are they regular timing, growing to a peak and fading?

Scheherezade · 09/09/2011 10:17

Oh dear, major baby brain going on. I was 35 + 1 yesterday, not 35 dead on! As tomorrow is 35 +3 I am telling people I'm 4 1/2 weeks to go Grin makes it seem like it's going faster!!

Penelope - baby doesn't need to be engaged fo r labour I don't think? Well - breech babies don't engage, adn they still get born (or try to!)

Mine is stuck with his feet in my fandango, so I fear we may end up going for a c sec :(

Leo4 · 09/09/2011 11:37

Scheherezade My baby is breech and has been the whole time :( I fear c-section too! Do you mind having one?

To everyone who thinks they are having contractions..gd luck if they are the real ones!

Bubalie I had one tuesday night and it was really good :) have fun!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 09/09/2011 12:15

Just havin a bit of lunch then heading in for last 2 hours at work woohoo!

Scheherezade · 09/09/2011 13:08

leo - not really sure how I feel about it Hmm when I first found out I was pg I really wanted one, as I was terrified of going through labour! But I've just been given the opportunity to ride some beautiful horses and so I want to be able to get on and ride ASAP after the birth! DP says that he will NOT let me rush myself if I have CS, nad it will be the new year at least, and even then - no jumping, rushing about etc. So a CS means a dull winter of stroking the pretty ponies and looking longingly at the tack room for me!

However, CS also means - no labour! Grin and that at least we will know when LO is coming so I can wash the baby stuff rather than face the possibility of going 2 weeks overdue, which is likely, as we think they are a week behind in their dating and baby is due 19th, not 12, and because it's my first!

re: growth scans - they change constantly too. We have been having scans every 4 weeks through the pregnancy as there's a high chance of heart problems in baby. Our growth charts have been all over the place, and consultant isn't concerned.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 09/09/2011 13:55

Was at MW this morning and she said she doesn't need to see me for another 4 weeks I thought it would be more often now I'm so far along? I'm currently 34+4 so would be 38+4 by then
What u all think?

bilblio · 09/09/2011 15:05

EdwardorEric it varies hugely from one area to another, and one pregnancy to another.
I think last time I saw MW every 2 weeks for about the last 6 weeks, this time I'm due to see her next Tuesday when I'll be 34 weeks, but I haven't seen her for 6 weeks prior to that, and I don't think I see her again until 38 weeks.

Scheherezade I'm doing half weeks now too. In fact LO is due Monday, so I was 33 weeks on Monday... by Tuesday afternoon I was counting it as 6.5 weeks, and today I've been telling everyone I've 6 weeks to go. :o

I've been at a big open day for our service users today manning a stand (or in my case a sit.) I've had lots of comments about how small my bump is... yet others say I look like I'm about to pop! Hmm

I also got to chat with some managers who have said they would be more than happy to employ me in July, which means I could pack in one of my jobs and just do flexible bank work. Hurrah!!!

soundofherwings · 09/09/2011 17:38

Hi everyone,

Still no news- contracting away happily but still not much pain and no closer together. My midwife thinks it's the start of things, but says there's no way to know when it will turn into proper labour. But I'm officially term today, and all our homebirth stuff is here, so operation eviction is on. I've been ignoring it mostly, and have done loads of last minute decorating jobs.

biblio well done on the job!

CheshireDing · 09/09/2011 17:49

BabCNesbitt we used to live in Australia and are now in the process of queuing to get in to the US. By the time that is sorted though we will have probably changed our mind again on country or county. I figure Porgey will just have to go with whatever and become very travelled! :)

We did our birth plan last night with the Hypno teacher and have some lavender and clary sage which is supposed to be nice to have in the room on a burner or a little in the pool. Have also been taking the Raspberry Leaf Tea tablets and 1 hot drink of it a day.

We have a gorgeous fluffy pramsuit for Mamas and Papas but have not been able to find any more I really like yet.

Good pics Sound :)

Off to investigate some acupuncture for my alleged spd :(

3 weeks left at work

Engelsmeisje · 09/09/2011 19:35

3 weeks left at work Cheshire? Next week is my last, thank god. I've been so irritable all week with my colleagues (only if they deserve it) and really emotional at home (lucky DH!).

Baby room is nearly ready (and I've been saying that for quite a few weeks).

Have another scan next Friday at 35w+3 to celebrate the start of my maternity leave!

Great catching up on everyone's news.

Cocoflower · 09/09/2011 22:46

I can't beleive I missed this part of the forum! Hello everyone, hope Im not to late to join.

Im 36 weeks today.Due 7th October

Im soooo excited about meeting our dd2 soon! Been a very tough pregnancy- Im hoping & praying everything else goes smoothy and the bundle of joy makes all the hard bits worth it

Still is not feeling quite real though!

CheshireDing · 10/09/2011 08:10

Welcome Coco :)

Yes Engels 3 weeks left, my theory was the longer I stay the later I will go back next year, getting kind of sick of it now though but ploughing on anyway! Then I have 2 weeks before Porgey is due to do stuff around the house that I never do (like cleaning kitchen cupboards out etc). Obviously that means Porgey keeping to the schedule but I like routine or order so it's going to have to get used to it :)

Rebel before the summer I bought a maternity swimsuit and maternity tankini from Mamas & Papas for our holidays. I am planning on wearing the tankini top in the pool so it will cover my bump - feel a bit weird about others seeing my naked bump, (even though they will be seeing more than that!). Might be worth checking what they have swimwear-wise, as summer is over it should be in the sale too.

Just had a phone call to say nursery furniture should be here in 10 mins, so far they have redeemed themselves :)

Engelsmeisje · 10/09/2011 08:42

I live in the Netherlands Cheshire where you HAVE to stop work between 34 and 36 weeks (my school tried to push me to start at 34 so they could employ the maternity cover from the beginning of term, but like you I really wanted to have more time after the birth of the baby).

I am convinced that this baby is going to make an earlier appearance than planned - I don't think I'll be getting 4 weeks on my own!

Has anyone else had to put up with intrusive questions? People keep asking me if the baby's head is engaged yet (which I find quite a personal question to ask casually over coffee in the staffroom) and yesterday one of my colleagues asked me if I had piles! I'll be glad when I can stay at home for a bit of peace - I'm already starting to avoid the staffroom at breaktime (there are 150 teachers in my school!)

Leo4 · 10/09/2011 09:47

Scherezade- Thats exactly how I feel about C-section don't want the labour part..but it takes a long time to recover and when you've got loads of things to do after birth ...it will be hard not doing them! I saw the midwife yesterday though and she thinks baby might have turned fingers crossed..must be all that rocking I've been doing! Good luck with your baby too :)

EdwardorEric- That does seem a bit long I'vre got 36 and 38 week appointments..but you do know if you have any problems like swelling feet, bad headaches, blurry vision etc you can ring up your midwife for an emergency appointment! So if your worried about something definitley do that!

Penelope1980 · 10/09/2011 10:02

Engelsmeisje I got an intrusive question today too - had my nipples gone all dark. I blushed. Blush That's the second really blush-worthy statement I've had this pregnancy, the first being when a 6 year old boy found out I was pregnant and kept saying "I know what you did with your boyfriend".
