Sorry about this Confessions :( Can you just not get an appointment with the psych? Have you tried the "FFS I'm heavily pregnant" route?

He already has an appt on Thursday, so apparently he has to wait until then. In the mean time, he can't get out of bed for being highly frustrated at needing to wash his hands 10 farking times. Hmm

Joannezipan · 20/06/2011 17:53

Hi everyone, just a quick one to say that after 21 hours of established labour Elliot Stanley was born by EMCS at 8:50pm on 19 June. He is gorgeous! I will update with the full gory story later on. We are staying in hospital for a couple of days so he can have antibiotics. Nothing serious though Grin

NurseSunshine · 20/06/2011 18:07

Congratulations Joanne!!! Wishing you both a speedy recovery :)

Confessions FGS that's ridiculous that you've got to wait that long when you're pregnant and have a young DC already :( Can anyone else pitch in so you're not quite so stressed? It must be really hard for you (((hugs)))

Congratulations joanne on the birth of wee Elliot (fab name!) glad all went well.

Confessions this sounds like the last thing you need right now, I'll bet you are struggling with your patience. I really hope Thursday brings something positive for you. hug

almighty You are just allowed water?!?! UGH bet you are mighty peed off, hope something happens soon, or at least you are allowed to eat!

kara blarrgghh at milkshake idea

sasa I saw this sling but it seems super cheap so wondered if there was a difference, surely stretchy fabric is stretchy fabric (sorry I am complete novice)!?

I have eaten a whole punnet of gooseberries - am either going to bring labour on or kill baby! Blush

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 20/06/2011 18:21

Huge Congratulations Joanne. Sorry you didn't get your homebirth, but having Elliot safe and sound is the main result really. Grin

Thanks guys. I think if it was me after an appt they might accomodate me, but it's DH not me and he isn't 40 + weeks pg! It doesn't help he doesn't trust one of the main shrinks, so has to wait on the other one. [grr]

Crazy sorry to hear you're stuck waiting. WTF did that idiot come and give you that injection? Confused Fingers crossed that now it's gone 6 they've taken you away to get things going.

jasmine51 · 20/06/2011 18:36

Joanne huge congrats...in a very Envy kind of way!

Curious re the gooseberries - me too, followed by a thai soup I made with rather alot of chillis....LO is in danger of getting farted out at this rate!

Me and dh have just had a serious conversation about the name Barnaby...its the first time he's entertained anything other than the name hes had in his mind for the past 10 years! Miracle. At least its an alternative to 'lulu gooseberry' our friends grandson thinks he should be called!

curiouselle · 20/06/2011 18:57

jasmine I feel sorry for my bathroom Blush ha ha

one of my students emailed me today suggesting the name Papaya - hmmm maybe not, better than cheese which was another suggestion Shock

AlmightyCitrus · 20/06/2011 19:39

They've just brought me a salad. Gee. Thanks. 26 hours without food and I get salad. I hate salad. Nothing going on til tomorrow now....maybe...
Dh has left me some nibbles so i'll not starve!

Mental friend turned up.at school again today, luckily the kids spotted her so went back though to a different door. She sent me a message.so I've asked.her to leave me alone, but she keeps texting back. Both me and dh have told her the problem and asked for a bit of peace. We tried....I'm sending in backup....my mother!

Thanks for the words of support. Sorry to not reply individually. It means a lot at the moment. Unmumsnetty (((hugs))) all round.

NurseSunshine · 20/06/2011 20:09

Jeez Almighty WTF is she turning up at your kid's school for?! That is beyond annoying and starting to get weird. Hope your mother gives her what for.
You'd think the hospital would be able to run to a sandwich at least Hmm Hope you're OK xx

Congratulations Joanne! How nice for you and your DH that he became a father on Father's Day. I was really hoping our LO would turn up then as well!

sasamaxx · 20/06/2011 20:55

Congratulations Joanne - hope you are getting to know each other and recovering well Smile

Curioselle - I'm afraid that I heard the stretchy slings sold by that lady are rather too stretchy to be supportive and require re-tied very very often as they start to sag. Stretchy slings should only have a slight stretch in the jersey so that they are still robust enough.
I think it would be a far better idea to buy one of the brand name stretchies second hand - they have often been barely used at all. I sourced a Hugabub for a friend for £15 - they retail at £50ish - so bargains can definitely be had. The main stretchy brands are Hugabub and Moby, but there are loads of perfectly good lesser known brands like Sleepywrap which you can sometimes find in TK Maxx.
It's also important to remember that Hugabub and Moby will keep a good resale value whereas the sling you linked to won't really sell on when you're finished with it.

Alternatively, there are thin woven wraps which can be used in much the same way as a stretchy and much cheaper than the thick german-style wraps which cost upwards of £60 (and often over £100). These are also easier to use than thick wovens, and will also be sell-on-able. Brands like Ellaroo and Calin Bleu gauze are affordable and respected, although have a similar useful life to stretchies i.e. first few months only. If you like using wraps, at that point you would prob sell on your thin wrap and buy something like a Didymos which will last well into toddlerhood.

Here is a brand new calin bleu -you will be able to find these used as well:

Congratulations Joanne and Magenta and speedy recovery Joanne and Elliott.

It is amazing how different all our birth experiences are. Sorry for all those who have not been treated properly.

Nurse my induction experience with DS was pretty similar to Sasa DS arrived in about 3.5 hours. I was allowed to walk around a bit but with drip attached it was limited to delivery room and bathroom.

I have velcro baby again. She really doesn't want to be put down to sleep but will happily sleep on me and loves being in motion. We did have a reasonable night last night though but as she slept for 2 longer stretches it just meant my breasts woke me up!

Jer79 · 21/06/2011 04:28

Hi everyone,

Just to say that our baby girl came last week in a wonderful elcs. She will not sleep anywhere but on one of us, and wakes up at about 11pm ready to hang out for the night. Apparently babies' body clocks are often this way, day for night, night for day, and it is exhausting but we are just incredibly happy and in love with her so it's working out ok.

Big congratulations to everyone who had their babies in the last week, and god luck to everyone shaping up to theirs.

Merlion · 21/06/2011 05:19

Congrats Jer! Come back soon and let us know the full story.

Labella77 · 21/06/2011 07:03

crazychic141187 sounds like me, it got a bit boring for a while there, but now the waters are broken it should all kick off. yay.

Joannezipan congratulations on your little boy.

Curious how did t he gooseberries go, i love them, always forget abou them though. Somneone told me a few years ago that a blight had wiped them all out, and i actually believed them, I am so gullible.

Jer79 Congratluations.

I'm still so sore, when does the pain from the c-section go away?

milliemuffin · 21/06/2011 07:22

Congratulations Jer xx

I was woken this morning by a contraction that I'm sure lasted about 5 mins. Have had 2 more quite uncomfortable ones since and I'm quite windy... Anyone else been a bit windy and had long lasting cx? Xx

Clarkiee · 21/06/2011 07:43

Congratulations joannezipan and Jer

Labella77 my c-section felt very sore for a week and a bit sore for another couple of weeks (but not sore enough to need pain killers). As long as you don't over do it. After 5 weeks I couldn't feel it and 9 weeks later all my stiches have dissolved and its like nothing happened. Be careful though heard of a few people getting theirs infected by over doing it Smile

My girls had their 8 week injections yesterday (one in each leg) was horrible to see them in pain Sad. They were a bit out of sorts yesterday but the calpol type stuff the doc perscribed seems to have helped.

Future TIP alert When you child is having their injections take along a bottle of fomula/EBM and as soon as they have had the injection pop it in their mouth- they'll stop crying and the food will take their mind off the pain.
My friend passed this tip on to me and it worked a treat Wink- the docs office went from double yelling hell to beautiful peace in seconds. Not sure what you'd do if you were exclusively bf might give the doc a surprise Smile

takethatlady · 21/06/2011 07:46

Another day, another haul of babies :) Congratulations joanne and jer! Can't wait to hear more. joanne did you get to go to the Rosie? Was it all okay? Go crazy! And it sounds like things might be stirring for millie too? Very jealous of all you ladies loving your babies already :) Envy :)

coaaf I can't believe the shittiness of not being able to see anyone until Thursday. Agree with nurse - can you plug the pregnant lady angle? If it's any consolation (and I'm sure it's not) I think you're pretty damn brilliant for dealing with everything so amazingly (meltdowns and all :)). Your LOs and your DH are very lucky :)

I thought almighty had had her baby when I read that curiouselle had had the names 'Papaya' and 'Cheese' suggested to her, and almighty came back with 'I've just been brought a salad' Grin. Got a bit concerned when she said she hated little baby Salad, though :) Hope you're getting food now almighty or even better that your LO has been born and you're back at home being fed!

sasa we have a Moby sling but we'd like a wrap with buckles too (like a mei tai with buckles) - can you recommend? Not sure if we can afford it tbh but DH had to trial one at our NCT class and he liked it.
