I'm not going to do the stats as it took up so much of every page! Welcome, everyone!

*cucump? Meant to say cub or myself! Stupid predictive text...

JimmyChoo17 · 05/07/2011 19:48

Cara I meant DH being sent home before baby arrives? Is that what happened? Or did I read wrong?

Bet thats a relief button!

TENS arrived today. About to give it a test run now but not the best positioning instructions with it.

Got asked to do a really random thing at work in the morning which found out is basically so they can get me out of the way to get my presentation set up tomorrow....theres me thinking I was escaping it. I know they mean well but the last thing I want is everyone staring at my round self and having to make a speech....

Annoying tho as been told on the quiet that they wont LET me work past tomorrow. Im ok so can continue its because they are more worried about having to deal with childbirth starting at work! Ok - although I had planned to bow out from thursday morning or possibly afternoon rather than friday as I had told them...... But I'm really annoyed that they feel they can make that decision for me, the only reason I've done any work this week is to bump up my ££ as we really need every extra penny at the moment and also could have worked up until birth date too! Icould understand if I was huffing and puffing about and looking tired etc...but actually I'm full of beans and got more get up and go than most of my team! If there was even question of baby or me needing the time out I would have stopped....

buttonmoon78 · 05/07/2011 20:09

I've really had enough now! Spent pm at A&E with dd1. She fell at school and couldn't move her legs so we had to go by ambulance to the hospital. Turns out she's fine - gave herself a nasty case of whiplash which caused the muscles in her back to spasm which pressed on the nerves to her legs which meant they went numb. So she's fine but I've warned her that she's likely to feel worse in the morning as it'll stiffen up. As will I - walked miles up and down hospital corridors.

And every dr/nurse/para told me that if the shock brought the baby on at least I was in the right place (well, actually no - maternity hospital is on a different site...). Twas hilarious. No, really Hmm

So, dcs have had pizza, I'm having frozen curry with a glass of red and I don't care. So there. Ner.

oh button no bloody good is it? hope you get a good sleep.

just watching the sextuplets on itv1

jimmy i had group b strep with ds2 but getting the iv anti biotics was all a bit farcical as they wouldn't believe i was in labour even tho i kept saying group b strep i am...i neeeeed my anti biotics!! As it was got them about 1hr before delivering!!

Want2bSupermum · 05/07/2011 21:25

So I wasn't expecting anything to happen at this weeks hospital appointment. Well they decided to induce me and I am to report to the PET unit tonight at 9pm. Obn called to say she is popping by after she finishes her evening clinic to check on me. She told me the resident would get me started as I am not dilated and that I should ask for an epidural whenever I feel that I need one. She said that she will let me go 12-15hrs after I have reached 4cm before they do a c section. She said I will def have a baby by this time tomorrow!

It is a good thing my godmother is coming down!

Jimmy I hear you on work. Just go with the flow for now and when you return from work you can mention it to HR that you didn't appreciate the decision being made for you. I would write the email now and save as a draft.

highheelsandequations · 05/07/2011 21:46

Well my waters went at 5.30 this morning and I am now finally contracting (since about 4pm I think), unfortunately they are not regular or strong enough to be classed as established labour yet so needing everyone to send contraction vibes to me as if I've not gone into labour properly before 6am tomorrow I have to go on the labour ward not in the midwifery unit. Hoping things are starting to get going now as it's getting bloody sore! Keep your fingers crossed for me.

nicolamumof3 · 05/07/2011 22:28

oooh wishing you both luck, more July babies before the weekend, how exciting. and not at all jealous over here Grin!

been feeling a bit crampy but thats all, def think im in for the long hall. DH found out today he's not starting new job tomorrow after all. Im dreading him just starting tho and having to take paternity leave straight away! So would be good if we can get baby out this week, pref before ds3's party on sunday or his birthday next week!!

buttonmoon78 · 05/07/2011 22:42

Good stuff! Positive vibes to want2b and highheels. Keep moving guys - it really helps things along.

Off to bed now. Feel like I've gone ten rounds with Tyson!

Had half a watermelon for dinner! Bit scared of the whole process but I like it that my dr is going to check in with me tonight. I was hoping to avoid induction at 0cm but hey ho.

Trying not to have an argument with DH. He is watching his stupid series on netflix and I am waiting for him to vacuum the stairs so I can finish the floors! Grrrr....

JimmyChoo17 · 06/07/2011 07:35

Morning ladies! Hasvanyone popped overnight I wonder?

I'm having a bit of a worry today baby's movements have been real obvious and a plenty up until Monday. yesterday they were still the just felt softer and less if that makes sense. Had a good. Listen on the doppler and baby choo is beating really strong away in there and can still wriggle away from Doppler! But I have gone from really being able to feel loads to a much reduced or more softer feelings of movement...like a lazy baby is in there. Does everyone get this later on? To be honest I'm amazed t how animated movements were so late on seeing as should be o cramped in there. I had my 10 movements (maybe even more) yesterday throughout the day.

I'm thinking I'm neurotic! I'm 38+4.....what were your baby's movements like in last few weeks?

I'm quitting work today after sitting there worrying about this this morning made the decision to bail out I've worked longer than I thought I would plus if they tell me to stop I'll prob be annoyed like I said above!

buttonmoon78 · 06/07/2011 07:47

I'm getting loads of movements. Baby has a very active period between 8 and 11 every night where it's so much in terms of amount and violence of activity that I end up hurting! My whole bump shifts and heaves.

But that makes sense now I know (as in confirmed - I knew it really!) that baby is OP.

DD is ok today - very stiff and sore so I'm giving her the day off as she's moving very gingerly and I think would be a danger to herself and everyone else in school today!

And this afternoon I'm taking ds to his ent appt where (hopefully) we'll be told his grommets are still in place following last months shenanigans with the crap registrar gp telling me he definitely did not have an infection.

And in addition to all of this, I'm having my final pre-baby cut and colour this morning.

Late pg? Oh yeah. That's when you rest and put your feet up, right? Hmm

Button your life sounds manic at the moment! Is this just what happens when u have kids? What have I let myself in for?!!!?

Are baby's movements different once baby sits lower or is engaged does anyone know?

nicolamumof3 · 06/07/2011 10:19

jimmy don't worry its normal for baby movements to slow up now. Mine are quite violent and big movements but noticed some days this week or so not as many.

Im waiting for dh to return home with macaroni cheese am desperate for it!! I know its a bit early, but he wasn't one to comment, don't blame him. Took ds3 too for theut walk and needed some bubble wrap for ebay stuff as well. Oh here they are back! Wonderful the ovens ready for a ready macaroni!

Button i am trying to take it easy when i can now felt quite crampy when i do too much and lots of braxton hicks all good tho i suppose.

cara2244 · 06/07/2011 11:38

Jimmychoo yeah they sent him home when I was in early labour, and he came back in 45 mins later when my contractions were 2 mins apart and I was 6cm. I threw a small strop but tbh It was for the best as I was like 'bring it on...come on contractions, hit me' I wanted to contract, if that makes sense, as I wanted to show the midwife I was right!! LAbour is such a weird thing. I read thru my notes last night and it turns out baby was getting stuck and they nearly gave me an episiotomy. The stirrups for the last two pushes was what got her out. It's a good job I was in hospital really...funny how things work out.

GOod luck high heels. Get walking! That helped me.

It is hectic with kids but I reckon you'll be ok with one. I'm wondering where the extra hours in my day are going to come from with 4!

I am back from hairdresser and looking wonderful even if I don't feel it! Now time for an hour's mning work before I have to leg it to hospital with ds. Happy days!

Wow, sounds like you've been busy button.

Good luck to want2b and highheels, and congratulations to all the new mums.

I'm a bit fed up today because the baby is refusing to engage and the midwife is a bit concerned so I'll probably have to go for a scan next week to check whether there is anything preventing the baby moving down. If the scan looks ok they will let me attempt labour, but I might end up with a C section if the baby gets stuck.

MissLolita · 06/07/2011 15:48

Hi ladies, wow, what a flurry of activity with babies appearing left right and centre! :)

scarthy1975 · 06/07/2011 16:52

I dont' think its been posted on here yet but fraochsmum has had a little girl as follows:-

Me next! Baby girl born 4th July at 8.41pm after waters started a couple of weeks early. Threat of induction obviously brought things on, 40 mins for 1st and 2nd stage, and little madam decided to make an appearance. Placenta came away utterly intact and allowed home this morning yipee! Oh, 6lb14oz btw and no name yet...well, we did have another 2 weeks ;)

buttonmoon78 · 06/07/2011 17:22

Oh I'm so pleased for fraochsmum - no placenta drama this time!

Happy with hospital visit today - ds's grommets are both in place and no sign of infection left. 9 month visit now. A very happy button.

Now I have to get through tomorrow's appt with new consultant. Then, maybe, just maybe, I can chill a bit!

nicolamumof3 · 06/07/2011 18:51

good news for your ds button.

hefner are you v.overdue? im surprised they are concerned about head engaging? as sometimes doesn't happen til well into labour Confused as long as head down should be ok?

shattered took boys to tkd, went to mcdonalds on way home, couldn't face having to start cooking at 6pm for two very hungry tired boys. DS1 still at tae kwon do he helps out in the kids class has a quick break gets something to eat with his dad then does his own class til 9pm!

Just having a bit of ben and holly then bath and bed for these two.

JimmyChoo17 · 06/07/2011 20:26

I have finished work!! Woo hoo! The presentation I was dreading was fine in the end but I was sooooo hot! Hated speech but I fluffed my way thru it then had the biggest hot flush! Got some lovely gifts and people were lovely!

So today I have had back twinges in the middle to lower part but not like period pain. Am hoping I get some time at home now to chill :)

Question for those with strep b....how did u find out u have it?

nicolamumof3 · 06/07/2011 21:43

i can't remember now why i had a swab, thats awful isn't it. I had it with ds2 then kept asking when pg with ds3 as i had wanted a hb. really struggled to get tested, and by time I did was all too late for a hb anyway. Ridiculous.

This time around been told they don't test anyway as it can come and go so easily i.e you could have it at 34w then not a fortnight later apparently Confused

glad the presentation went ok tho Jimmy

JimmyChoo17 · 06/07/2011 23:09

Never really read about strep b it seems to be a symptomless thing found only if swab but it's not a routine test but the consequences can be nasty if not detected so makes u wonder why they don't test!?

Oooo these twinges are scaring me! I'm not ready to pop a watermelon thru a pin hole just yet!

Q for u that have kids already or newly popped....did u have any signs of labour that u did not realise now until you had he power of hindsight, were actually signs? Not the obvious ones such as waters going, plugs or contractions!

Keep getting a sensation of pulling or poking in my back but only on one side at moment and it's not painful it's what I would call a twinge but daren't use that term now as hubby panics and thinks baby is about to arrive!

Scottygirl10 · 07/07/2011 09:10

Re strep b, I had a swab taken a couple of years ago for thrush which came back saying I had strep b in the womb. I was advised at the time to make it know to my health case providers when I get pregnant that this was the case. Got pregnant, made it know and came up against lots of indifference about it , felt almost palmed off with 'oh well we don't routinely screen for that anymore'. Anyway, got another attack of thrush in week 38 and was swabbed by gp. REsults came back positive again for strep b in the womb. Doctor phoned maternity personally which was nice of her and insisted they offer the antibiotics during labour, which I was insisting on myself but feel the call from gp made the fight a bit easier. Now I'd like to add I'm not one for drama...(dh may disagree lol ;)...) and I'm not saying that I'm special and my baby would end up with something, but 1 in 200 babies is affected adversely by strep b which if untreated can be fatal, and I'm not willing to take that chance. Particularly when something as simple as antibiotics during labour can prevent anything untoward. Rant over! I'm now 1 day overdue...:( x
