I'm not going to do the stats as it took up so much of every page! Welcome, everyone!

Hi everyone - Happy Tuesday, only 3 more days at work - YAY!

isitreallythattime - probably best to wait until your milk has come in to buy your nursing bras, at least it was for me last time as I didn't change cup size (was an E) when I was pregnant but went up to a H cup once my milk came in.

Anyone else's bump not as wriggly as it has been? All the threads about counting kicks has made me a bit paranoid as movement has definitely slowed down in the last week for me.

SpannerPants · 07/06/2011 14:08

isitreallythattime I've just ordered one of these - only £10 and apparently is quite stretchy (and if you put in the code TWENTY you get 20% off)

Thanks to whoever it was on the breastfeeding forum who recommended them!

I've got 8 days left at work over the next 2.5 weeks but I've got a load of assessments and an appraisal to do before I finish so I'm feeling pretty stressed at the moment. I'm also having to resort to wearing flipflops as I can't get my normal shoes on anymore and I'm worried that I don't look smart enough - silly huh?!

buttonmoon78 · 07/06/2011 14:17

Keep meaning to ask - those who are on facebook, is fab ok? Simple yes or no will do - don't want to add any more bait for nosey people.

isitreallythattime with DD I bought one for the immediate aftermath from Mothercare - which I do not recommend. Like a sling. Awful. I waited until my milk came in to be properly measured at Bravissimo for their nursing bras (you are likely to change significantly a week after the birth) and they were much better. I bloody hated how huge my boobs were - and I couldn't wear underwire for 6months!

Badgerwife · 07/06/2011 14:24

Fraochsmum I've gone for a Britax B Smart. Tried it in the shop and found it really easy to use compared to others I'd looked at, with a massive and very accessible shopping basket underneath. We shall see how it goes...

Eglu · 07/06/2011 14:25

Button FAB is fine and following the thread still.

Pesha · 07/06/2011 15:06

My boobs have never really grown much when bfing and I never had my milk 'come in' in a big dramatic fashion, I just gradually had milk so have bought a few nursing bras. Got one a bit more expensive from jojo maman bebe as well as a tummy tucking vest! And then have bought a 2 pack from mothercare that was in the sale so only £14. TbH they're not a great fit, the straps seem to be a bit far apart but I'm passed caring now, they'll do! Am on the lookout for a couple more cheap feeding vests though, no idea whats happened to the ones I had last time.

Notnearly - I felt a lot less movements on saturday so went in and spent half hour on monitor just to check all was ok. The mw was a bit crap though and first thing she said was 'oh yes they do slow down at the end', followed by 'have you had 10 movements today? You should be having 10 movements a day' Hmm I had had more than 10 movements but normally I've had 10 movements within the first 10 mins of waking up and I had significantly less than I normally have so I lied and said I wasn't sure and then hissed to dp 'that's all bullshit!' the second she left the room!! But he started to move a bit more towards the end of my time in there and got really active again that night and has been ever since! But I would recommend going in if you're at all concerned. I felt a bit silly and like I was being a bit paranoid and only doing it cos I'd been reading the CTK threads but then thats the whole point of those threads isn't it - to get people to keep an eye on movements and make sure they get checked if they're at all concerned. I'd much rather go in and be told everything is fine than not go in and have it turn out that everything isn't ok.

Button - very glad I'm not the only one slacking on the home cooked meals front! Have ordered mince so will have to show dd (10) how to cook spag bol, think its about time I got her cooking anyway and spag bol is her absolute favourite so she should be well motivated! Have also bought stuff to make beef stew which I can just bung in the slow cooker so not too much effort involved there either!

Not sure if I mentioned it but I am now dog sitting for my dad for 2 weeks. The dog is a flat coat retriever and used to be mine and is ever such a good dog but not very easy to exercise in a town. We have 2 parks near by but despite being a retriever he doesn't really have any interest in retrieving and wanders around sniffing a bit but generally stays close and just walks with me so I end up having to walk round and round the park for him to get a decent amount of exercise. Struggling with this now and its also the reason he went to live with my dad a couple of years ago as I just couldn't manage to give him enough exercise like that with 3 young children. He wasn't misbehaving but just seemed miserable Sad My dad lives in a village and is semi retired and walks him a good couple of hours every day and double that at weekends and Murphy seems a lot happier now. But part of the agreement of my dad having him was that I would dog sit when he went on holiday so couldn't really say no. He is ever such a good dog, fantastic with the kids and they adore him and generally very well behaved. But he does pull when we first go out on a walk which is not good at all for my hips and neither is picking up his shit!! And while he does a great job of hoovering up any food the dc drop he does an equally good job at shedding black hairs all over everything! I normally love having him back (particularly in the summer when we can drive to nearby woods and hills and all go for nice long walks) iits just the worst possible timing at the moment.

Having some quite painful BH still - fingers crossed they develop into something more (and legs most definitely uncrossed!!!).

notnearlyasblondasiwas · 07/06/2011 16:15

That is quite reassuring Pesha, I keep getting in a panic that I am not feeling bump moving and then I was on a conference call about 30 mins ago, and although I couldn't "feel" it bump was throwing some disco moves and was freaking out the other person in the meeting room - so perhaps I am just not noticing it as much. Either way, you are right, if I don't feel much movement again, I am going to get monitored.

I also have a dog that pulls a lot, I am finding him quite hard going at the movement to walk, have delegated that to DH, he is only little as is a French Bulldog but he is just bone and muscle and a stuborn little so and so! He isn't impressed with me being pregnant as he likes to sit on my lap in the evenings and there just isn't enough room any more!

Glad you are still "here" Fab

Fraochsmum · 07/06/2011 16:17

Sorry you're feeling so crap Pesha :( I can sympathise with the dog thing, we have 2 labradors who are both molting at the mo so am hoovering a couple of times a day. I would really recommend a 'Halti' for him, we have one for each of ours and as Fraoch is almost 40kg it makes a massive difference.
I am still able to eat my 3 square meals and extras, but sometimes have to stop before my last few bites - most annoying! I'm just about to cook some beef casserole and leek n tattie soup, taking advantage of DH being off for a couple of days.
I have washed my nursing bras from last time already, I got a couple of E cups before baby but had to get someone to get a couple of G's once I filled up - both sets from M&S and very comfy, not pricey either.
My mw's have never mentioned counting movements to me, just ask in general if they have been regular. Checking there were 10 a day would just leave me paranoid! I know there's not much room left in there, but monkey still feels like s/he's trying out for a cheerleading troupe Grin

buttonmoon78 · 07/06/2011 16:27

I'd get a Halti. Our dog rarely uses it anymore but if I have to take him anywhere I use it as I can't risk getting a jolt to my pelvis.

I've not got as far as bras yet. I did go out and get 2 packs of maternity towels and breast pads this morning so I'm feeling like I've done something productive Smile

Off out again in a min to collect ds's oral anti-bs. Pizza for tea tonight. Girls rebelled against cooking again! Fair enough I reckoned.

Someone told me how 'well' I was looking today - all glowing and with lovely thick hair. Made me feel so much better! And I know I've got a pedicure coming as the girl I made the prom dress for is getting me one to say thank you so I'm very happy with that! Think I'll leave it for another couple of weeks though til I can't possibly do it myself anymore, but close enough to birth that it'll still look good for a week or two afterwards!

Am still v v uncomfy though. Keep looking at spinning babies but the positions they'd have you in are simply not possible at the moment. I think it's just a waiting game really. If it moves, it moves, if not - I'll have a section. I'm not going to waste time worrying about it anymore Wink

Hi All,

I've got my nursing bras from last time. They are GG and H cup. I have ridiculously huge boobs already.

I'm having a horrible emotional hormonal day today. I took my boys for an eye test and DS2 who is only 3 is very long sighted and needs glasses that he will have to wear all the time. I'm totally devastated. That will teach me for taking them for eye tests at 36 weeks pg. I had to call DH to come along as I was struggling to hold it together at the opticians. Fortunately his shop is only along the street so he was there quickly.

I know it's not the end of the worls, but he is my baby and his beautifel face is going to be covered up with glasses. Sad

Pesha · 07/06/2011 21:16

Quick question - if I think I might be in labour and I'm 36+5 do I just sit it out and wait like I would if I were full term or should I be heading to hospital a little sooner to get things checked out?!

nicolamumof3 · 07/06/2011 21:34

Pesha, how far apart are you contracting? i'd contact hospital yes. hope you're ok.

Im feeling crap too, little sleep, back hips pelvis all agony. But on the bright side feeling more organised. Cot up, clothes sorted (but will need washing) bought some muslins today, nappies and night time pads from asda's today!

Pesha · 07/06/2011 21:54

Bollocks - just wrote a reply and it vanished whn I tried to post it Angry

I had an hour earlir when they were every 2 minutes if not more and were incredibly painful strong and was all set to go hospital but then they died down. They are now about every 4-5 mins but whilst some of them are still quite strong some are just mildly uncomfortable. With ds1 my contractions were never regular and stopped and started depending on what I was doing but was 9cm when I got to hospital and he was born 2 hours later so the fact that they're not completely regular doesn't really mean anything.

So do you think I should ring hospital? I suppose they'll tell me if I need to go in or wait and see what happens won't they?

I hate all this is it/isn't it crap, why can't it jus be black and white?!?

cara2244 · 07/06/2011 22:05

pesha not sure how much longer you've got the dog for, but a halti/gentle leader is brilliant for dogs when pregnant as it stops them pulling. I have 2 big dogs and they are not fans of the haltis, but I wouldn't be able to walk them otherwise. You can get them from most pet shops.
Picking up the poos, maybe use it as an excuse to squat?!? As prep for labour!

Just read back and others have recommended the halti too I see :)

cara2244 · 07/06/2011 22:06

Oooooh Pesha are you about to be number 2?!? I'd ring the hospital as you aren't 37 weeks. Good luck!!!!

Pesha · 07/06/2011 22:09

Labour ward engaged! How inconsiderate!!

buttonmoon78 · 07/06/2011 22:42

Typical! Keep ringing and let us know!

Pesha · 07/06/2011 22:53

Have given up! Contractions slowed down even more now so going to go to bed and hope I get some sleep. Am feeling quite sick and bit of a dodgy tummy as well as tummy being quite achey so don't think this is the end of things but doesn't seem like anythings going to happen quite yet! Bit of a headache coming too now.

Thanks for advice everyone Smile

buttonmoon78 · 07/06/2011 22:55

Sounds like the beginning of the end to me. How exciting!

OP posts:
Pesha · 08/06/2011 07:54

OMG, I was just half way through writing a post when it vanished and I was taken to the top of the page Confused Angry

To sum up I was saying I hope it is the end but on the other hand I'm a little hesitant now the thought of months of sleepless nights and endless bfing is becoming more real!!

Contractions have died down a lot but still happening, woke me up a few times in the night and also had a few when I woke up for the loo or due to the bloody police helicopter flying around for best part of an hour at 2am Angry Have also been sick again this morning and still feeling very sick so trying to eat some flapjack in the hope that it helps. Am worried that its going to be the same as last time and go on like this for weeks but am slightly comforted by the fact that I am still having contractions whereas before they would stop completely.

Have been awake since dp got up for work at half 4 though so hoping nothing happens till tonight so I get a chance for a little nap at some point!

Fraochsmum · 08/06/2011 08:10

Oh wow Pesha! How are things now? Not sure what your mat unit is like, but if I had those 'symptoms' I would pop into our unit here and let them investigate. Did that happen for a long time with your 1st? When mine started the last time they were every 3-6 mins from the off, but weren't very strong so waited it out and ended up being 10cm when went to the hosp - I think you are best to be safe than having the dog deliver the baby sorry x
Will be thinking of you!

buttonmoon78 · 08/06/2011 08:15

Same keeps happening to me pesha. I keep writing these really well thought out posts and then losing them and writing drivel because my attention span is so rubbish!

I'd ring the unit too, just to check. Even if you go in and they say 'yes, you're on your way' but then send you home, at least you'd have that positivity.

I also know what you mean about sleepless nighs etc becoming more 'real'. I had a couple of real freak outs recently where I thought 'what have I done?' I know rationally that it will be ok, I'll get through it but unlike your first where you have a lovely image of snuggling up in the night and everything being peachy all I can remember is being soooo dog tired I felt like I was unable to move. Knowledge is not always a good thing!

Fraoch I have just cried laughing at the thought of the dog gowned up to deliver a baby. Truly, it's small things at the moment...

Just wanted to say Good luck, Pesha. Hope it gets going properly soon and isn't too stop/starty. How exciting!

nicolamumof3 · 08/06/2011 08:50

Pesha sounds like you are on your way, but i do remember having this with Tate at around 36ish weeks really bad thought i was in labour but then nothing! and got to 39+4 with him too!

Good luck whatever happens x
