Congrats on the team pink teladi!!

Yukana - both me and DH are social workers and I'm very surprised to hear that your mw / doctor are giving you veiled threats about calling social services. Rest assured, the local SSD won't accept any referral from them unless they've got some fairly decent grounds for their concerns and - even then - the social worker that would visit to assess you would work with you and DP to support you to parent your little one, they wouldn't be looking to "investigate" you or whip your baby away from you. If you need any advice on this subject I'm happy to help if I can. Sorry to hear you are having such a rough time of it.

On a selfish note, I have had the BEST day! My best friend and DH threw me a surprise baby shower!! Loads of my friends came - and my mum is staying with me as well at the mo - and gave the babies lots of gorgeous gifts (I certainly don't need to buy any clothes, toiletries, muslins or bibs for them until they're about 4 now!!) It was just so wonderful and all very emotional! We played lots of silly games ... none of which I won (I blame the baby brain!) but were all really good fun. And they did a pass the parcel which, on each layer, had a 'promise' from a person for something they would do for me - e.g. bringing me chocolate, doing my weekly shop, babysitting, taking the babies for a walk etc. Just so lovely. I'm feeling very blessed and very emotional now :)

MrsVidic · 12/06/2011 06:46

Aw MrsS that sounds Lovley, bought a tear to my overly hormonal eyes!

I too am getting quite emotional, dd dropped her last dummy in the loo last night so we all decided it was time to give it up. She's only 23 months and understood and didn't complain at all. Dp came down stairs after reading to her and was welling up at how grown up she had been and how proud he is of her (this is a man who struggles to show emotion)

Dp has began to gut the study so I should have a nursery soon! I had a really strange dream last night that the baby was measuring 3 x it's predicted size and they'd got it wrong. They said it was my own flat for letting myself go and I'd have to deliver with no pain relief on my own! I woke in a cold sweat!

Congrats on team pink! teladi

littlemisslozza · 12/06/2011 07:51

How lovely Mrs Stevo!

MrsVidic I know what you mean, my DS2 (22 months) has moved into a 'big boy bed' this week and he just seems so be growing like a weed and losing his 'baby chub'. DS1 (3.9) and DS2 came to my bedroom together the other morning (rather than me going to get DS2 out of the cot) and I heard DS1 say to DS2, 'wow, you really are a big boy now.' It was so cute. I remember thinking how big DS1 seemed when DS2 was born, when it came to nappies, changing a tiny bottom then changing a gigantic bottom in comparison!

I haven't got the nursery ready yet. We moved house a few months ago and it has been the 'store room' for loads of boxes which I have been slowly sorting through. I'm finally getting to the point where most of the stuff is out of there and I can get it ready for the baby. It has already been painted so just need to move the cot into there and to go through the baby clothes and put them in drawers. Baby will be in with us in a moses basket for a while first anyway but I know that we need it preparing before s/he arrives as we will be busy enough!

aStarInStrangeways · 12/06/2011 08:49

That does sound nice MrsStevo :)

I am feeling overemotional but in a different way. My cats are totally stressing me out :( We're renting, and they are clawing up the carpet at a rate of knots. We've lived in loads of rented places and they've never been this bad before, but I think they're fed up with being stuck inside with each other and are doing lots of attention-seeking stuff - clawing, overeating (and then being sick everywhere), fighting with each other. The annoying thing is, they are perfectly welcome to go in and out but are too scared because of the massive dog downstairs, even though he never comes out of his flat or garden. DH and I are both being woken up at night by the sound of us losing money, basically, and it's pissing us both off. Need to buy somewhere.

Firawla · 12/06/2011 09:45

congrats on having a little girl teladi, lovely news

aww mrs stevo that sounds soo nice! sounds like you have some very thoughtful friends, with the pass the parcel promises and everything, thats lovely

i know what you mean mrsv and littlemisslozza about how emotional when they grow up, my ds1 is nearly 3 i feel like that with him a lot, cant believe how grown up he has gone. although my ds2 is the opposite i think, he is nearly 1 and half but he seems like such a baby to me still. so i dunno how he will be with the new baby, he is quite clingy to me more than ds1 was. by the time ds1 was his age he had already been born but he seemed a lot more grown up by that age! maybe because ds2 cant walk, i hope he does manage to learn it properly by the time ds3 is here

star that sounds quite annoying, i guess there is nothing you can do about the downstairs dog really?

MrsVidic · 12/06/2011 10:06

Have you tried the plug in cat destresser things? I think they work well.

aStarInStrangeways · 12/06/2011 11:47

I might give them a go MrsV. There is nothing we can do about the dog, of course. Nor the guy who owns it, who is the world's laziest dog owner as far as I can tell - he doesn't even pick up its crap from his own garden, his mum comes round twice a week and does it for him Shock. No wonder the creature barks aggressively all the time, it's probably bored stiff.

It's just annoying because the cats have lived (with me) in all sorts of situations, including a very busy/cramped shared house with another v hostile cat and a massive dog, and never reacted this way before.

littlemisslozza · 12/06/2011 13:10

Firawla I felt like that about DS2 until a couple of months ago too. He is also more clingy than DS1 ever was, which seems to be a recurring trend I have noticed with my friends' second boys too. He only started walking at 19 months, (although he had been crawling for a long time) whereas DS1 walked at 12 months so I expect that helped to make him seem older. It's just these last couple months now he is running around and is learning new words every day that he seems to be changing so much. Despite being quite clingy he doesn't mind if I hold anyone's baby so hopefully he'll be ok. DS1 has said he is going to teach DS2 how to be a nice big brother which is very sweet!

WinterLover · 12/06/2011 15:13

JenniL1977 Im now starting to think the cramping is a UTI... Im at the midwives then doctors on Tuesday so will mention it then. If it gets worse tonight il attempt to get an appointment tomoro but thats not the easiest of tasks!!

Hows everyones weekends?

RugbyWidow7 · 12/06/2011 18:38

Hello everyone.

MrsStevo that's so so lovely. Have baby shower envy!

No BH for me yet either Klou, but I've read some people don't get them at all so there's nothing to worry about.

We've had a busy baby weekend. Yesterday was our NCT breastfeeding course. It was good and very useful but it didn't half drag on - 3 hours total. I had thought it was only 2 hrs and when the lady announced a break at half time 1.5 hrs in, DH wasn't happy!

Today we went to the hospital for a tour of the labour ward. Really glad we went but did feel quite emotional whilst we were there. To think it'll be us in 10 weeks! Got us thinking a bit. DH has really looked after me tonight and cooked a special meal which took him ages and was delicious! He's really trying to look after me which is fab! Happy lady!

Firawla · 12/06/2011 18:56

littlemisslozza aww how sweet of your ds1, and that is quite reassuring to hear your ds2 sounds the same as mine, mine is coming upto 18 months so hopefully by 19 months he might be able to run around, would be just in time!

rugby that is so nice of your dh looking after you making special meals, i am still trying to get my dh to help out a bit more but he has had the kids a lot over the weekend cos i wanted to get a lot of the packing done for moving house, and rather do it in peace than with any 'help' from dc, and had a wedding yday which was nice but quite tiring as home late.

Anu3 · 13/06/2011 12:13

aww wishwales morgan is beautiful!! and she does look a good size as well! So happy for you!

Klou No BH for me either - well atleast i think so! I did have a little cramp in my stomach few weeks back that lasted for about 2 minutes and then went away after i changed position and started walking. But not sure what it really was!

We had out first ante natal class yesterday and Im felling a lot more positive now. It was really good and the mid wife taking the class was brilliant! DH asked so many questions as well and we met some nice new couples! Only scary bit was they said we could have the baby anytime from 15th july onwards as the EDD is just a mid point and you could have the baby 2 weeks before to 2 weeks after it!! which means a month from now!!! Im 32+3 today.

Have my 4d Scan in exactly 2 days! Cant wait at all :)

RugbyWidow7 · 13/06/2011 12:43

That is scary Anu3! Only one month away. I've just tried to work it out and think that would mean we could have ours in 7 weeks! Eek. Confused

Glad we've bought the essentials!

KLou111 · 13/06/2011 13:28

Bloody hell, I'm 31+4 so that means we could have ours in just under a week later Anu scary!
Hope your 4d scan goes lovely, hopefully you'll see a lot of detail as baby will be more developed as you're going a bit later (I was 27+2) :)
Our classes start on the 29th, weekly on a Weds morning for 4 weeks, can't wait :)

Annie456 · 13/06/2011 14:03

Sorry to read and run but I didn't like the fact that we were on message number 665+1 (even too superstitious to write it!)

Off to see my consultant about my low platelets now - so that'll be 4 hours of waiting around for them to tell me what I already know!! First i'm going back to the shop where I just bought my lunch to have a go at them for bad hygeine as 2 little bugs just crawled onto my plate.....eeeewwwwwwwww!

Firawla · 13/06/2011 14:40

ewww @ bugs in lunch that is disgusting!
anu i hope your 4d scan goes well, put up some pics! :D
i have another growth scan in a week, i wana get some pics from it this time cos last time they had such cool close up images of his face etc but i forgot to ask as i didnt have any money with me, so will try to get some this week, although not 4d or anything but still were nice pictures
exciting to think all the babies are not many weeks away! i lose track how many weeks i am, but its almost 2 months exactly til due date and there is still possibly of wanting to induce a couple of weeks early seeing how the diabetes goes, so really not a lot of time at all. seems to have gone very quickly

WinterLover · 13/06/2011 16:21

eekk I start ante-natal classes on Thursday, first one is labour and pain Grin

KLou111 · 13/06/2011 16:40

Do you think they do the labour and pain one first so you don't go back lol!!

Finally got a date from the plasterer, he wants to come Monday arrrrrrghhhh!! So quick, and good, but bad.

DH trying to finish our ensuite, only got boxing in the pipes and tiling it left, but we are off to Take That Weds, so got to take the dogs on a mahoosive walk that morning/early aft, then neighbours are sorting them late aft/evening, so Weds is written off. Thurs have MW appt so DH only has til 2ish that day, then Sunday is a local game fair (DH shoots), so that's written off, and we have to empty rooms, take down curtains/poles, PVA all the walls/ceilings to be plastered, take off radiators and remove paper behind etc etc. So he's only got 3.5 days. I said just take your time, there's no rush to do it, but he's had enough and wants it all done now by the end of the weekend!! Personally I can't see it, but you know boys!!!!

The childrens centre near us has a breastfeeding group so will be joining that in August too

KLou111 · 13/06/2011 17:26

Oh that's great! I know there is one about 15 miles away from us, but will have to see if there is one more locally as would like to join (and would get us out the house!!)

OP posts:
aStarInStrangeways · 13/06/2011 17:27

Firawla I've been meaning to ask how your GD is going. I'm seeing the specialist mw again tomorrow (must remember to take a packed lunch this time Hmm) and reckon I'll likely end up on medication too as I've had about 4 high readings since I saw her last.

WinterLover · 13/06/2011 17:32

yeah it is good, they do a baby massage and a wiggle & giggle group too from birth so will go to them, like you said it will get me out of the house as I dont have any other 'mum' friends so everyone will be at work!
