Yay frak! What lovely news, and sympathies on the tear. Those post-birth stitches really add the magic to the occasion don't they!

Eskarina · 21/04/2011 18:48

Hoorah! Congratulations Frak and very well done xx

Cowboy well, at least you knowand get yourself psyched up for a large head baby Hmm

Have been to see two friends with babies today. One had a fab birth experience, the other had a really tough time. Both said there's nothing to prepare you for the month afterwards. Seems I've been stressing about the wrong bit [eek]

vallinnapod · 21/04/2011 19:15

Oh Frak congrats!! Lots of hugs and kisses (and sympathy as I can now fully picture a 2nd degree tear Confused to you both.

LOL Cowboy - I am hoping bub has DH's (small) head, but not his large ears Grin Is it as exciting knowing your LO is getting itself sorted??

Dynababy · 21/04/2011 19:30

Congratulations Frak great news!! Grin So exciting now weve progressed to the popping part!

All fine here but feel huuuuge! Bump growing by the day, swelling all over the shop .. arrgghh..

Never mind sunny bank holiday weekend yay! Grin

Dynababy · 21/04/2011 19:32

BrassicaBabe · 21/04/2011 20:06

Yeah frak!! Mahoosive congratulations!

Hmm, I googled 4th degree tear. But stuck to finding a description and stayed well clear of any images! Shock

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 21/04/2011 20:08

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 22/04/2011 08:47

Sleepy! Hellooo. [bugrin] Hoping to have you here full time very very soon (and all the rest of the viroids too). With the graduates becoming postgrads, we need some fresh gossip blood grads. [bubear]

Vallinna we couldn't really get Viva at the old place (only when there was heavy heavy rain Hmm) so now I'm free to indulge myself shamelessly [bugrin]

KateeHasABunInHerOven · 22/04/2011 10:33

nickelbaalamb · 22/04/2011 10:51

Please someone talk to me about tears - we have discovered that you have to go to hospital for 4th degree tear, but do you for 3rd degree?
frak, were you already in the hospital, or did you have to go in for your tears?

what level is too much for MW to deal with?

cowboylover · 22/04/2011 11:10

I am not sure to be honest nickel but I think it was JKS who had the tear so maybe our frak was ok or I missed it.

Possibly it has something to do with the amount of pain relief you need with the bigger tears? My friend had a 4th and had a spinal black for if where as another and I am not sure what degree it was had a small injection of local anaesthetic.

nickelbaalamb · 22/04/2011 11:13

mmm.
she said she's in hospital, but I don't know whether she gave birth there or if she was transferred for the stitches.

(i'm worrying about having to transfer to hospital to be stitched up)

frakyouveryverymuch · 22/04/2011 14:08

I was in hospital and probably wouldn't have had to transfer as repair was done by MW under local. However mine was only 2cm long, but deep which is what makes it 2nd degree. So I guess it depends on the tear... You would for a 3rd as that involves the anus.

If you get a third trimester scan they'll look at estimated head circumference and weight. I always knew baby was going to be big and from the measurements they weren't sure whether he was birthable so I think I got off light with a 2cm 2nd degree tear.

Something I didn't buy and maybe should have was an epi-no though.

OP posts:
frakyouveryverymuch · 22/04/2011 14:10

JKS HBACed and transferred.

OP posts:
nickelbaalamb · 22/04/2011 15:43

thank you for the info.
It's all panicking me a bit.
I know I shouldn't panic, because if I do need to go to hospital, it'll be worse because of the panic. :(

frakyouveryverymuch · 22/04/2011 18:25

There are sedatives you can have and I promise in the event it's not that bad. My labour stalled for 6 hours when I went in and I'm still under mild baby friendly sedation but I really thought I'd be much worse.

OP posts:
ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 23/04/2011 08:35

Nickel What no one tells you is that 5 minutes of childrens TV is worse than any part of labour.

nickelbaalamb · 23/04/2011 09:26

Shock So, you mean to say, that after hours of torture, i'll then have to spend about 11 years with even worse torture?
I was kind of hoping that Ceebeebies would be my Childminder....

nickelbaalamb · 23/04/2011 09:27

thanks frak - that is reassuring.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 24/04/2011 09:55

See labour is excrutiating pain which (in the scheme of things) is very short lived and mostly soon forgotten. Ceebeebies on the other hand, is a slow tourture. You often don't realise how annoying it is at first and by the time you do one or more of the ruddy theme tunes has already embeded itself in the darkest recesses of your brain. There is nothing like trying to enjoy some child free time only to find yourself singing the fecking awful Tweenies song or cooking dinner to the tune of Rastamouse. .

I feel huge, then I look in the mirror and realise I'm not really - yet. Any day now I'm going to wake up and find my belly has tripled in size [busad].
